It's been a long time since I've been to The Human Bean. At that time they had sandwiches and stuff (it was the first time I had ever had a turkey sandwich with cranberry, thanks for introducing me!) but it seems like this location at least has culled its food menu down to just a few breakfast kinda things, like egg bites. But the drinks are their specialty. I just got my regular chai but they had quite a few drinks that were coffee-free, like their smoothies, som soda-like drinks, and their hot chocolate of course. They also have items for "little beans" so it's nice they've got something besides just a steamer for the littlest ones. My drink was fine; they just sue Oregon Chai liquid concentrate so not their own or a special blend, but it was good. I'd like to try something that's more unique to them next time. read more

I've been to this Human Bean location many times as it's close to my home. The people who work here are always nice and friendly. They work fast and get you what you need quickly. They usually have good music playing in their area too, which is nice for when you have to wait a bit for a bigger order. I usually get a hot chocolate for my partner and a decaf mocha for myself. In all the times I've been here I've only had one issue, which I didn't even realize until I was almost done with my drink an hour later. I ordered a 20oz and got a 16oz, but clearly it wasn't a big problem since I didn't even notice it for a while. I always order decaf because I can't have very much caffeine, and they have never made a mistake with that. They always ask if I want sleeves and/or stoppers. The food comes out warm and is good. These baristas are amazing and so accommodating. Don't forget to tip them because they are worth it! They are always kind. I love the Human Bean app as I usually can get about $1 off my coffee about half the time with the app. I have a pretty complicated coffee order and they're always really nice and quick with it and it always tastes amazing. My go to lately: Mexi mocha granita, decaf, extra ice (to thicken it) coconut milk, and maybe a little whipped cream if I'm in the mood. Plus you get a cute little chocolate covered coffee bean with your drink. Yum. I go to other Human Bean locations and they are usually pretty great elsewhere as well. But this one is my favorite location. read more

Ordered a cold foam cold brew, and there was very little coffee in it. It was about 80% cold foam! I have always loved their cold brew but the inconsistency in the amounts of cold brew vs cold foam needs work. read more

Good coffee and service. We have switched from other coffee places to go to The human bean has been the new favorite spot.

Love getting coffee here especially because it is close to home. I really like that they offer 8oz sizes too because sometimes you just want a little bit. Also love the little coffee bean that you get! The service is always friendly and fast! My only complaint is that at this location I seem to almost always get hot drinks that are steamed quite a bit hotter than they should be which also ends up making the foam almost non existent. I'm not asking for a cappuccino but at least some foam on my latte would be nice! I'm not sure if they use thermometers I know some shops do and some don't and some barista's know by sound when the milk is done but if most of the barista's here don't know then it might be worth the investment, it's definitely worth not burning the crap out of your customers mouth. I'll be back for more coffee although I may stick to cold drinks! read more

Okay, the first time I was introduced to the Human Bean was a couple of years ago in Ashland. Yum! Swung through here at a busier time of morning. Super fast service, adorable ladies working here with lots of suggestions for future drinks and places to check out. I got the java chip frozen, kids got frozen hot chocolate and hubby his usual mocha. Omg, my drink was so good, and everyone swallowed their drinks up quickly as well. Delish! Walking around the neighborhood I couldn't help but notice all the drive-thru coffee places. We stopped at this cute looking spot at the bottom of the Lowe's plaza. I had a latte, my sister got her usual Americano. Both were good, and she says less expensive than the local favorite Dutch Brothers. Mine had a smooth taste with good strong coffee. 12 ounces for $3 seemed pretty reasonable to me! We would have enjoyed it more if the tables and benches on the cute patio had been dry - but this is Eugene in the winter. And it was a drive-thru even though WE were walking. What a treat to get the chocolate covered coffee bean with my coffee! Had a thick mocha chocolate layer on the bean that I wasn't expecting. What a nice touch. read more

Very pleasant experience, the staff were very nice and catering despite even just being a short interaction. Rating 4/5 based on the pricing for what I received (iced coffee), it definitely was the most expensive iced coffee in town. The small size was about the price of most other comparable place's large sizes which seems a little over the top for me. Having looked at the menu, the pricing seems really hit or miss as there's tons of other way more complicated drinks that are cheap, seems my iced coffee obsession just doesn't work out here. Used to be the best coffee in Eugene. Not sure what happened in the last year or so with training but the coffee is so inconsistent now. I used to be able to go to any stand at any time of day and know I was going to get a delicious drink. On the rare occasion I go anymore my coffee tastes burnt half the time. Decided to share a 32 ounce drink with my friend. The customer service guy hears us discussing it and offers to divide it into 2 cups for us. We accept and he tells me he's not charging for the 2 extra shots I asked for. We chat, he's super sweet and helpful, hands us our drinks and tries to charge us for 2-16 ounce drinks... So $11.50 for one drink. We remind him we specifically ordered 1-32 ounce drink. I had literally held up one finger at him when we decided to just share. As we talk, a manager busts in and tells us that she'll do us a favor this one time and only charge for one drink... BUT, the next time we ask for it split, we have to pay for 2 drinks. Then "Mr. Offer to split the drink and give us shots free" pipes up that he "also didn't even charge the 2 shots." I gently inform the manager that it's fine to pay 2 drinks if we order that but she needs to train her reps to not offer two cups when folks order one. AND to not offer free shots if he's going to use it against us. They did refund partial payment for the second drink with no explanation of what the refund was. He just shoved a couple dollars at us and walked away. They had the nerve to go back and charge the 2 shots they had specifically volunteered for free. Off day all over for them. I was shocked . I've literally never had an issue there before and today was amateur hour playing switch the order and charge whatever they can. The drink was fabulous as usual. read more

Like any person I am filled with curiosity and when a new place opens up I always will go with an open mind and try something. This time I tried a small Java Chip. I wasn't a fan and the drink was a bit too watery for me and the flavor was really off. The only thing I enjoyed was the coffee bean candy they serve on top. This is my local little neighborhood coffee shop. I've been here three times and all three times they've gotten my order wrong. Seriously, if you order coffee with cream and sugar, and they give it to you black 3 times in a row then there is a serious problem. I do not recommend this place. *Updating* I was running errands with my daughter today when she asked for HB. She loooves their frozen hot chocolate. I decided to say yes and over to the drive thru we went. The girls working were so friendly and the service was perfect. The drinks as always were delicious. I decided it was time to update my review and add a star. My one bad phone call experience shouldn't overshadow all the quality in person experiences I've had.* I'm torn on this review. While the drinks are tasty and the service at the window is typically friendly, the unprofessional phone experience I just had was a turn off. I called to ask questions about their cups. Are they compostable? Can I bring my own reusable cup? Etc. I didn't get all that far in the call. It rang several times and then was answered with an annoyed "Hi." I waited a few seconds for her to say something else but she didn't. So I asked if I had the correct number and she said "Oh, ya. Sorry." I asked about the plastic being compostabland had to wait while she asked someone else. The answer I got was "No." I didn't even bother with my follow up questions I just said thanks and hung up. I know I'm being picky but at your place of employment you should be professional all the time, in person or on the phone. I opted out of the coffee. read more

The west 11th location is amazing the lady's at the window are friendly and up beat. I used to go to the Chad drive location, but on several different occasions the lady's there were rude and not friendly at all, I will never go back to the Chad dr location again. If you need an alternative milk, go somewhere else. Their coconut milk latte tastes like watered down coffee. Waste of my money. My suggestion- don't offer coconut milk as an option until you can nail it. My husband got a different drink with regular milk and said it was alright. read more

My new go to coffee place. With an abundance of great coffee in Eugene, I have finally settled on the Human Bean as my favorite for my daily brew. Although there are still a few I haven't tried.
