Large Soy Garlic Fried Chicken ($32.95)
Rachel L.

Wowow I've ordered from doordash once but finally dined in so everything was super fresh. My friends and I shared 5 items and there was not a single miss. We got two large portions of the fried chicken; one Supream flavor (sweet and creamy) and one soy garlic (savory & a little sweet). The portions were absolutely huge. The chicken was super crispy, really saucy, steaming hot and juicy. I liked the soy garlic flavor because it was more savory but the Supream was good too. We also had the budae jjigae which came with 2 bowls of rice & assorted jjeon. This pot was massive and full of yummy and comforting ingredients. On the lighter side but still hit the spot, and the jjeon were nice and crispy with soft interiors. Lastly, the rose tteokbokki was super creamy and rich. I only wish it had slightly more rose flavor, because it was more so just cream sauce. Our waiter was really nice and attentive! It looks like a family owned spot. They serve up some delicious Korean food with big portions and I'm definitely going to be back. Place itself is clean and spacious.

Egg fried rice with black bean sauce

Went on a random weekday for dinner. Only one server at that time but it was okay, it was not that busy. We told him it was our first time and he happily answered our questions about the menu. Ambiance is simple and cozy. We ordered creamy udon, shrimp toast, egg fried rice, and 2 different types of KFC (sweet & spicy and soy garlic). Their food here runs on the sweeter side such as the creamy udon with meat. Their food egg fried rice was good and it surprisingly came with black bean sauce on the side. Fresh and flavorful! The shrimp toast was the perfect appetizer...a combination of crispy and savory with a side of sweet chili sauce to dip in. The chicken is huge. I got full off of 2 chickens so beware lol! It's pretty heavy on the batter but the flavor and crunch is there. The chicken on the inside was flavorful as well. Not bland at all.

Came in to try Matzip a few months ago for an early dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the food and service! We came in around 5pm on a Monday and there was only one other party seated. The inside was clean and modern, with nice wooden booths against the windows, where we chose to sit. Menu was diverse and easy to read; this is a Korean street food establishment so don't expect it to be your traditional tofu house. The Korean grandma who was our server was super kind and constantly checked on us so we felt well taken care of! By the time we finished our meal, there were a decent number of parties dining in on a Monday night: a really good sign! Soy garlic Korean fried chicken: Very crispy batter and well-seasoned. Also very meaty. Would considering ordering takeout just for their KFC Rosé tteokbokki: Really nice flavor and I liked the addition of sausages, egg, and ramen. Also would order again Jjajangmyeon: Noodles had good texture but the sauce was a little sour/onion-y for me Beef stone bibimbap: Pretty standard, sizzling hot Kimchi fried rice: We added spam to our order and it came with a fried egg, also pretty standard

Found out about this from TikTok because of the creamy udon. However we decided to order DoorDash. They didn't have the creamy udon on the menu which is fine. Order arrived warm. The food was delicious. We got the honey cheese chicken. That was delicious. We ordered the kimbap and assorted jeon. All delicious. We will come in for dine in next time.

My new go to spot for Korean food! It's a cozy place with booths and tables. Lots of parking as well. I specifically came for the rose tteokbokki and it was absolutely creamy! It's a mix of rice cakes, ramen, bacon pieces, and hardboiled egg. It reminded me of the one I had while in Korea. The cheese kimbap was also really yummy. Everything was made fresh and the service was quick. The chicken wings were cooked to crispy goodness. I left so full and still had leftovers too. I'll definitely be back!

Reddit post: Where can you find jajangmyeon in Fremont? Matzip! ...you got me there. Tempted to give them 2 stars because hella dirty tables, super slow service, mediocre banchan but the server was so apologetic. ***if you are starving, DO NOT COME HERE. You will be hangry to the tee*** ORDERED: Waited 36 minutes for food. Ordered Jajangmyeon, pork cutlet, and beef kimbap. The jajangmyeon was super salty and the noodles were totally them prepackaged Korean noodles in the fridge that you purchase at Korean supermarkets (and literally anywhere). I was craving pork cutlet... strange how this came out first. Was crispy and pork cutlet was seasoned. Sauce on the side tasted very curry gravy esque. The side dishes were meh like the corn had raw white onions that overpowered the dish completely. The kimbap was the best out of the bunch (tasted very OG)...although very loosely rolled/packed. Banchan were super salty. First they provided white daikon which was delicious and then they gave bean sprout that was just boiled and chilled. SERVICE: One guy was doing EVERYTHING which was cray and therefore major props to him. Super nice. Too many things going on but yet attentive as can be. VIBEZ: Some portions of the restaurant was very dark and others were in direct sunlight. The banchan gave off VIBEZ of cheapness (it was served on a plastic plate which felt seemingly for kiddos). No hot tea but they do provide hot water in the same metal tea kettles if you ask them for some. Would I come back? Probably not.

Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing Korean meal I've had. The chicken wings seemed boiled before frying, with an overly thick batter that separated from the skin and turned rock hard. The jajangmyeon lacked depth and barely had any black bean flavor I would never dine in again But hey, their appetizer at least is good and the customer service is excellent, our young lady server is amazing

hot & spicy chicken - large

Arrived around 6:05pm on a Thursday night, seated immediately We ordered a large hot & spicy wings, small soy & garlic wings, original tteobokki, and jjamppong These wings are pretty saucy compared to another korean chicken place I go to, but the sauce made the chicken really good! Though it was doused in sauce, the chicken was crispy and fragrant! Out of the two chicken ones we got, I liked the spicy one more, it was sweeter than the soy garlic, but I tend to lean towards sweeter items :) The tteobokki and jjamppong weren't bad, but didn't stand out to me too much. My bf really enjoyed the jjammppong - said it was really light and the seafood flavor shone through a little. Personally, I like a heartier and spicier jjammppong. I would definitely be returning for more chicken! I'm also excited to try new items coming to the menu soon!

We noticed a "new management" banner as we walked in and were excited to try this place. The menu is fairly simple - just a few appetizers, fried chicken, kimbap, tteokbokki, and rice/noodle dishes. The prices are great, especially if you're sharing, and the interior was clean. I also loved that K-pop was playing throughout the restaurant. Unfortunately, they were out of the honey & cheese flavor, so we ordered the soy & garlic and original instead. The breading was thicker than I'm used to. While it was crispy, the ratio of breading to chicken felt off. The original flavor was pretty basic and nothing out of the ordinary. The side dishes were just okay. We also ordered the rose tteokbokki, which came out very late so late that we had already finished the fried chicken. The sauce was very heavy and creamy, and I couldn't really taste much of the rose flavor. I did appreciate the addition of noodles and ham, though. Overall, it was still a pleasant experience, but it's not a place I'd personally go out of my way to return to.

Came here with my family on a Friday night and service was good. We got served fairly quickly. The food was just ok. We ordered honey&cheese wings, soy garlic wings, budae jigae, jjampong, rose tteokbokki, Jajangmyeon and assorted pancakes. The Jajangmyeon was good, but everything else was on the sweet side which I don't like. There was also a hair on our wings.

We had our orders to go for a little get together with friends. I don't know if it's because we didn't do a dine in but I didn't like the chicken that much! I was anticipating that it was crunchy like Von's or Bonchon. However, ours became soggy from the ~15 minute drive to Hayward from Matzip! We got the soy garlic, supreme and honey cheese and I would say I like honey cheese the best out of all those 3 flavors. Probably because it tastes like the sour cream flavor found in Ruffles, etc. We also got the original & beef kimbap which of course wouldn't let you down. The one thing that I especially liked would be the rose tteokbokki! Just enough spice and love the chewiness of the rice cakes. Good thing we phoned in our order ahead of time but when we got there, there's only 1 server so it was a bit slow. Took a while before someone attended to me & to think mine was just picking up. I would give this place another shot next time but dining in to see how the service is & if chicken is better and crispy!

Soy and garlic wings and honey and cheese wings

I've been here when it was Fish Day but been seeing instagram reels about their Fried Chicken and how it's better than San Tung (IYKYK). I stopped by on a weekday at around 2:00 PM put in a to go order online for the honey cheese wings and the soy wings, and it was ready when I arrived. The worker was super friendly and handed me my food. I can see why people compare the soy wings to san tung, it has that crunchy sticky sweet batter/sauce on it. But that's where it ends, san tung is still a chicken flavored wing and Matzip is a korean fried chicken wing, the flavors are still different but the textures I get. The honey cheese is... different. It's not for me but my hubby didn't mind it. It had more of a dried seasoning on top. The wings were pretty tasty but inflation rates are steep. 7 wings for $18 is quite the price. At almost $3 a wing, it's a decent size but I don't think it's worth $3. I'll be back to try the noodles they are known for the wings will be more of a special occasion circumstances.

My friend and I came here on New Years Eve. There's hella parking and the inside was very clean with kpop playing. Feels pretty modern and fresh. We were greeted instantly and sat pretty quick. The server was hella attentive and for being the only one did a good job. We ended up getting Japchae, wings, and seafood soup. Every thing was hella good. Honestly, I don't have any complaints it was good. I think the only con, is the pricing. It's a little high, but definitely worth the pricing.

I like the setup at this place, the bar top backs up to the wall that's facing the movie theater. The menu here is way more extensive than you'd imagine. They've got obviously a huge selection of wing flavors to go with bone in it boneless, and different quantities you can order also. Tonight, I attempted to place a simple pickup order. It was 10:30 PM, and the store was clearly still open with lights on and employees inside. Not wanting to go inside in just my t-shirt and boxers, I decided to call it in. What followed was a masterclass in poor customer service. From my car parked directly in front of the store, I called the restaurant. An employee answered, only to repeatedly say "Hello? Hello?" and then hang up. Thinking it was a bad connection, I called back from a second phone number. The exact same thing happened: forced confusion, "Hello? Hello?" and a click. It became blatantly obvious this was intentional. Through the window, I could see they were cleaning and had already shut off fryers. Instead of simply informing customers they were no longer taking orders, they chose to pretend they couldn't hear anyone on the phone and hang up. Frustrated, I finally honked. When that didn't work, I had to reluctantly get out and approach the door in my sleepwear--the very situation I was trying to avoid by calling. The staff inside saw me and ignored me, continuing to clean. The most unprofessional part? After this charade, they left the phone off the hook so no one could call back at all. They decided to stop serving customers well before their posted closing time and chose the most dishonest and rude method possible to enforce it. There is no excuse for this. If you close your kitchen early, put up a sign, or have the basic decency to answer the phone and say, "Sorry, our kitchen is closed." What you don't do is play childish games, hang up on customers, and then disable your phone. Summary: They prioritized closing tasks over customers, lied by feigning phone issues, were incredibly rude, and showed zero respect for the people who pay their wages. Save yourself the frustration and take your business elsewhere. Horrible, horrible service

There was a large party there so I'd like to think that's why it took some time for our order to be taken, and for drinks to arrive. Everyone who worked here was very sweet and friendly! They move quick too, as that should tell you how busy and popular they can be. Our orders arrived fairly quick considering the amount of tables occupied. We were sooo excited to dig in ...just look at the photos for reference, how can you resist! Portions are huge, and we def had leftovers for just two people. And if you still manage to walk in, it's just meh. You are welcomed by this sad looking bar (if you can call it that, some people have home bars that look more enticing). There was only one table occupied and the layout, walls covered with TVs is all a sad scene. With buffalo wild wings right nearby, people interested in watching sports would probably just go there. The owners need to narrow down on what this place is trying to be. Food: we ordered chilli paneer and peanut masala- both were really good. We also got tangerine wheat beer which was good too. The pourhouse setup is easy to use- you get a bracelet and can get whichever beer you want using it. Decent selection.
