Pretty good food. My favorite dish by far was the Chicken Milanese - perfectly cooked - crispy and so tasty I could've had more (sadly the picture didn't come out). The whole dorade was also pretty good. I also enjoyed the side of corn but the scallops appetizer was a little disappointing - though the scallops were good, the sauce was a little too tart for me (but my husband liked it so to each their own). I can't believe it took me TWO YEARS to come back to this place! Maty's, you never disappoint. The GOLDEN TILE CEBICHE is an explosion of freshness, tangy and refreshing with every bite. The CORN dish is downright addictive--creamy, sweet, and rich, it's impossible to stop once you start. The OXTAIL SALTADO is a must-try, with tender meat, crispy potatoes, and a savory sauce that will leave you craving more; plus, the portion is HUGE and will definitely fill you up. The PORK CHOP was good with ikura, but honestly, it just didn't measure up to the high standards Maty's has set. This place is absolutely delicious! Our service was very good and the waitress was informative with her recommendations being it was our first visit. We started with the traditional ceviche which was tilefish - it had so much flavor we really loved it! The corn huancaina was soooo good I am still thinking about it. We also ordered the chicken milanese which was so perfectly crisp and the pea risotto it came with was so good. My only suggestion is to reduce the amount of the salt in the risotto. I found my experience at Maty's to be very average. Upon arrival my party was sat right away. It was recommended, by the server, that my party of three get, two to three smaller dishes and then one to two "For the Table" dishes for the food to satisfy everyone.   With a small menu there were not too many options, but we were able to satisfy the recommendation without any duplicate dishes. From the "For the Table" dishes we got the "CHICKEN MILANESA" and the "OXTAIL SALTADO". The "CHICKEN MILANESA" was disappointing, it was not very flavorful and was a bit undercooked. The "OXTAIL SALTADO" was good but I felt that it had more crispy potatoes than any other aspect of the dish. From the rest of the menu, we got the "SCALLOP" and the "MIXTO" which were both good but nothing particularly special. For dessert we got the "PICARONES" which was almost similar to a doughnut which was not clear from the menu but was not bad.   Aside from the menu, the restaurant was large and clean with many tables and seats. Maty's in Midtown is IT. A five star experience in Midtown, we came to Maty's in celebration of a birthday and what a celebration it was. SO excited we were able to get a reservation at this spot as Chef Valerie Chang was awarded the James Beard award for Best Chef: South in 2024. This place is such a beautiful experience, from start to finish. From the ambiance with beautiful decor that is both modern and homey, it truly brings comfort to an upscale setting. The service was amazing with how much attention to both our table and detail of our dine. We were a big group and were up to try the best of what they had to offer so our server helped curate a menu for us for the night and had us try a bit of everything. I don't want to list everything we had because we truly had a bit of it all but my noteable favorites were the oysters, kanpachi crudo, and the lomo saltado. The flavors of everything took us all on a journey and we were stuffed but couldn't help but lick every plate clean. The drinks were also fabulous and they even have a sommelier help out with wine selections if you choose to go that route. Overall, such a great place to visit for dinner. First time at Maty's was a couple of weeks ago with a big group of friends where we decided to splurge and order a bit of... well everything. It was good, but didn't blow me away overall. I had heard so many amazing things from friends about the food here so I decided to pay it a visit since it's down the street. The menu is pretty small. There's 4 sections with about 4 or 5 items per section. We tried the scallop crudo which wasn't anything special in my opinion-- it just tasted like a ceviche. Also tried an oyster which was unique but pretty sour. For a main, we had the dorade which was actually pretty good. The sauce with it was very yummy. We also had the corn which again was good, but nothing I haven't had before. The restaurant is very big and bright inside. The service was fine, but for this price point, I'd expect a little more. Overall for $200 for 2 (with 2 drinks), I'd rather eat somewhere else. If we had come in hungrier, we would have had to spend a lot more, but we had eaten a very late lunch. read more

Maty's is by far our favorite restaurant in Miami - we couldn't recommend it enough. We went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. The bartenders were incredibly welcoming and attentive to everything that we needed. It was the perfect date night spot. The food was the star of the show though. We ordered so many dishes: tortitas de choclo, oysters, scallops, trout, beets, teres major. All of it was worth ordering... but if you could order only one thing... do not skip the oysters. They weren't your typical oysters, they had this vinegar like dressing/sauce which was remarkable. Not all Peruvian restaurants are the same, especially this one. Maty's elevated dining experience will definitely satisfy the most demanding palate. It's located in the bustling Midtown Miami so parking can be tricky but there's a garage by Pet Smart that's pretty much empty and just 1/2 block away. As soon you enter the restaurant you'll be greeted by the friendly host. The dining room is warm, modern, open, and not stuffy. Clean lines and neutral colors. Very easy on the eyes. The bar is all the way to the right and it's a good size. Cocktails were very good. I recommend the Martini Sucio. As for the food, we just ordered a bunch stuff to share. We got the Cordero (lamb chops), Atun Tiradito (bluefin tuna), Cebiche Tradicional (black grouper), Arroz Con Pato (Rohan duck), Choclo, and Picarones. My gawd. Each dish was perfectly prepared and the presentation was marvelous. Our favorites were the lamb and duck but you will be satisfied with the other dishes we ate or any dish you order from the current menu. Chef Val Chang really knows how to wow his guests with simplicity, flavor, and quality ingredients. This place is not for everyone especially if you like traditional Peruvian food which is abundant in Miami. It's a bit pricey but you are paying for quality and outstanding service. I get the hype about Maty's. I get why NYT has it on the list of 50 restaurants in the US it's excited about. Everything was a "wow" in terms of flavor, quality, texture, presentation, etc. We got the tuna tiradito - have never had cranberry beans before but I liked this dish. Scallop ceviche was beautiful and tasty - sorry to whoever had to mandolin or slice those grapes lol Tortitas were a little like cornbread since they are thicker but I enjoyed them Choclo - loved the flavor of this. Also who doesn't like corn???? Duck salad was beautiful - lots of textures. Dorade was the biggest dish of the evening. Whole fish! Sauce was amazing, and I couldn't get enough of that with the rice. Strawberry dessert was better than I expected - the dulce de leche was super fluffy and light, and it was an interesting dessert with a sprinkle of salt. If you are hungry then the price may go up quite a bit since would have to order many plates but if you are in the area and want to try different flavors, created by a James Beard awarded chef then it is fine. The ceviche clásico was delicious and bursting in flavor and the best one i liked. The cuttlefish was second in taste for me. The half chicken was a bit salty for my taste. I have a shrimp allergy, so the waitress Nia was incredible in making sure I didn't eat any of the foods with possible contamination. That day unfortunately many of the foods was cross contaminated so I couldn't try some plates but I was very appreciative that she really went out her way to make sure I stayed away from plates I shouldn't eat. This review is based on the Momofuku tour that was hosted at the restaurant, which really was a beautiful marriage of the the two cuisines. The ambiance is great, elevated casual but inviting and the music was fantastic all night. To start, shout out to our server Juan. His recommendation to have our espresso martinis with pisco was inspired, absolutely will have this again. The food just kept on coming, nearly everything was perfection. One of the lobster options was a tiny bit on the salty side but that might just be a preference thing for me. Chef Valerie Chang, opened Maty's and won the 2024 James Beard award with this restaurant. My favorite restaurant of 2024, still going strong in 2025. If you are looking for an incredibly dining experience, Maty's is your place. I've been to this establishment with friends for book club, with my husband for date night, and with out of towners that want a great meal. The food, service and ambiance are all outstanding. I can't explain dining in a not seemingly fancy environment (midtown shops) but feeling transported away to an intimate dining experience. The servers take such value in delivering a good dining experience, and are certainly trained for excellent service. If that all wasn't enough, come here for the food; it's so good I'd come here even if everything else I said went away. The star of the show for us is always the Lomo saltado; a giant le creuset dish comes out of the kitchen and placed in the center of the table to share. The vibrant, crunchy veggies, perfectly cooked fluffy potatoes and meat so tender it falls off the fork as you scoop it makes this dish is my death row meal. It comes with a side of rice as well, which is always perfectly cooked. My second favorite dish here is the dorade; the fish is brought whole on a plate and tastes incredible. The ceviche with grapes is also a unique, can't miss dish here! I know the Dorade and Lomo are both pricey, but besides shareable it is a taste experience I can't find anywhere else, not limited to Miami. I've lived in other places of America, and this if still one of my favorite places to eat of all time. This restaurant is an homage to her grandmother, and the flavors of Peru that she grew up with. We popped in for brunch and the first impression was that this space is absolutely beautiful. It's calming with tons of dining room space as well as a large bar. We started with the red and the white sangria. The red sangria was so interesting because it had Chicha. The white sangria had passion fruit and was so refreshing. One cannot dine at a Peruvian restaurant without ordering ceviche, so we opted for the tradicional. I always say it's a skill to make a simple dish exceptional, and that's what was done here. We also had the logo saltado which was great. The brunch menu is different from the dinner menu, so I definitely want to go back. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 3 pm. Met up with some friends for brunch and catch up on our busy lives. Found parking pretty easy on the street 1 block south on the same street. Walking in I knew I had been to this place before when it was a vegan restaurant. The decor and seating was comfortable. We chose a booth. We decided to order several plates as you can see and eat family style. It's my preference when dining out with friends. Especially foodie friends. We all want to try everything on the menu. As I write this review weeks later I want to point out that you need to order the fried chicken and picarones! The picarones were the table favorite! There's no other place that makes them as well as they do! If you are into oysters, these were from Nova Scotia were delish! The hucatay sauce was perfect! Our server was very attentive too! Giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, I have to assume I went on an off night -- because it was not that good. After looking forward to this, it was a real disappointment. Waited 50 minutes to get served an appetizer, and then everything came out, one after another. The cauliflower was a little undercooked and rock hard in the middle, almost uncuttable with a knife. The razor claim toast had burnt edges, just tasting burnt. The chicken milanese was a breaded chicken cutlet. Not very beautiful on the plate. But the rice and pea accompaniment was excellent. The pork belly was gorgeous, but the fat needed to be rendered longer. The lettuce leaves used to wrap the pork (Koren or Peking Duck style) were too irregular to be useful with some being huge and some so small you could never fit a morsel of food. Also, it was still wet. Photos below. the guests at the table next to us left 30 minutes before us, but the table was never cleared (at all). Pretty unappetizing. Came here with a big group, a couple of whom knew Chef Valerie, to show support for her new restaurant and very much looking forward to a wonderful meal. We ate everything family-style so plates were brought out as they were prepared. I wish I could list everything by name but there were just too many dishes we tried. The standout plates I will describe as they stood out in my mind: - both ceviches and tuna tiradito were dynamite in presentation and complex in flavor. You could taste the different elements in each dish, but they arrived in waves. Highly recommend all of these but the ceviche mixto was my favorite because the heat from the spice punched you in the nose. - encurtidos were an interesting assortment of pickled vegetables that were a good palate cleanser between plates. There was a long-ish pickled item that I thought was crusty bread until I took my first bite and was met with a cold, briny mouthful of something else. -had a corn side dish that was reminiscent of Mexican elote - also good but not my favorite - the roasted chicken/ guisado de pollo was perfectly browned and juicy upon slicing. I almost passed this up because I eat so much chicken daily, but I'm glad I didn't. - Chita Asada: a fish I had never eaten before but found very delicious. It was a meaty, flaky, white fish with noticeably sharp teeth and a tough skin that reminded me of pompano. Paired well with the aji amarillo and def would recommend ordering - Pork chop: surprisingly, this was perhaps my favorite dish aside from the ceviches. I have never had a Pork chop so tender!! It was mind blowing. Definitely an underrated item when discussed with our group. - last but not least... dessert. We had fresas and something that was like a deep fried funnel cake/donut. The fresas just looked like a blob of cream but here's another example of not judging by looks. each spoonful was a perfect marriage of strawberry, dulce de leche and lime flavors. Very light and delicious and not overly rich. You could make room for this even when you're stuffed, which I was. The donut was made of sweet potato and squash flour and had a molasses drizzle. It was chewy like a mochi donut and was also good, but you can tell from the description which was my favorite. Not pictured are other side dishes we tried, such as the arroz and the tortitas de maiz which were SO GOOD. The menu seems to change regularly so I hope for your sake, you get to try some of the great dishes we had. As for service, we were well taken care of the entire night. Our meal at Maty's is one I'll remember for a long time. The dishes were almost too beautiful to eat, but I'm so glad we did. We wouldn't let our fantastic server clear the sauce after we devoured our scallop crudo. We couldn't part with it, and it added a little extra brightness to every dish we had after. Visited Mary's , a new Peruvian restaurant in Midtown, after hearing rave reviews and saw it was listed in on the top new places to eat in Miami. While I was excited to try it, I found myself a bit disappointed with the limited menu offering of only three entrées. Despite this, I enjoyed the Pisco sour with passion fruit to drink and the grouper ceviche to start, although it was more like sashimi with sliced pieces of grouper in a lemon juice, bit of a small portion but very flavorful and delicious. My recent dining experience at Maty's was quite good. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff, who guided me to a table for myself and friends. I started with the kanapachi, and the tender slices of kanpachi were complemented perfectly by a medley of citrus and herbs. We also had the oysters and charred corn (this was my favorite). For the main course, we had the chicken milanesa. The chicken was tender and juicy, encased in a crisp golden crust that added a satisfying crunch to every bite. It was served with pesto surrounding it, which paired well with the chicken. In conclusion, Maty's Miami is a culinary gem that deserves to be celebrated. If you like food and good vibes, Maty's is the place for you. Let me start by saying that we licked each plate clean, not even exaggerating. I went with a big group so I was able to try most of the menu. We ordered every ceviche on the menu and I'm so happy we did because they were all amazing. It's hard to say which ceviche was my favorite because they were all so different but delicious. Each bite was an explosion of flavors, like that scene in Ratatouille when he was taking bites of different foods and seeing fireworks. We also got the chicken milanesa which was cooked perfectly and crispy, chefs kiss. We tried a lot of the cocktails on the menu as well and they were all well crafted and delicious. The server we had was very friendly and helped us a lot with what each dish was and what to order. My family and I were celebrating that night and he brought us a round of shots which was really nice. I will definitely be back to Maty's, it's one of my new favorite restaurants in Miami. read more

Went there and was very happy with the new addition to midtown restaurant scene. It is a nice Peruvian/ fusion with unique taste and nice flavor blend. Had a couple of the dishes and all of them wow me. Definitely recommend. Very nice casual environment with open space. The service was a bit slowly but everyone very friendly. We ordered the oysters, which came in aji Amarillo, and they were so succulent and vibrant, you could literally drink the sauce as is. Next, we had the Tuna Crudo, and the combination of mango, lime, and olive oil was exquisite, a perfect blend of flavors to pair with a fatty piece of tuna. We also got the whole Cesar salad, which was good, very peppery and flavorful with bits of Parmesan cheese crisps. Not the best salad I've had, but it paired well with everything else. Then came the chicken milanesa, which my partner and I shared. Very filling, perfectly seasoned and crispy. The risotto with peas and pesto sauce was beautifully presented and paired well with the chicken. We finished with the pavlova, which was interesting. The egg white and citrus fruit combo was elegant, but personally, fruit flavored desserts aren't my thing, so I wouldn't order it again. I don't regret it, but it's just not my favorite. Everything and more than what we expected! They have a creative menu that still holds truth to tradition. I came once with my family and another time with my friend during happy hour! They have the best pisco sour- its a must regardless if its happy hour or not! The food is consistently delicious. Sam was super attentive and gave amazing recommendations that would otherwise had been overlooked. They perfected food, atmosphere and service; the holy trinity in the restaurant business! I recommend trusting the staff members as they are constantly add new dishes to the menu. Next time i come ill deff have my staples which are the jalea, tomato (lima beans salad), Scallop cebiche and a few oysters- sprinkled with some recommendations from sam! read more
