    Crab Shrimp Fettuccine
    Ellen D.

For a quick hearty lunch, my coworkers decided on Matchbox (courtesy of our Rep paying, thank you so much). I ordered the crab soup + the crab and shrimp fettucine... yes I really wanted crab! The crab and shrimp fettucine fell short by just a tad since it tasted pretty bland... Though, the pasta was cooked al dente and the crab meat was good. The crab soup was phenomenal to eat hot and tasted even better when I dipped the crab fettucine in it. (Dont knock it til you try it)! We ordered for pick up so I cant say much about the service; when we walked in, there was no one at the host stand or any servers on the floor, just one bartender shining glasses. There was one staff member I do want to shout out, wish I caught his name but he called out to us after we had left and gave us the salad dressings that they forgot to include. As for interior, it definitely has a different vibe to it than the Merrifield location that I have been to. It felt more "classy" -- vs. the Merrifield location feels "casual" and more "relatable."

We came to try the unlimited brunch option. They had a lot of options to choose from. The mimosas are very good. Some of the food was lacking flavor or seasoning. I think this is a good idea as unlimited brunch is very in now it's just missing the fun and flavor at this location. This location did not get busy at all maybe half the restaurant at one point. It is very clean inside and the staff is friendly. The parking and location is good here.

It's so interesting how this place is tucked into a suburban neighborhood. My server was very attentive and my pizza was perfect. Almost reminded me of the pizza I grew up with living outside NYC. I'll definitely be back.

I would describe Matchbox as a solid choice, if you live in Tysons/McLean area, and you're pressed for time. The menu is Modern American, with options for brick oven pizza -- it has just enough of a variety that everyone should be able to choose something that appeals to them. The space is quite open and I love the fact that the majority of the seating are set up as booths. Side note: I wish more restaurants could be set up this way, it gets you out of the way of the servers and wait staff going up and down the aisles. -- [I realize for restaurants with smaller footprint, it's impractical, as booths take up more space] We came in at 6:30, and we were able to get a table easily, but the restaurant was filling up soon after. We got the Garden Veggie pizza, it said it had roasted vegetables, and the Herb Crusted Salmon Salad - both were quite good. We finished off with one of their dessert items - Donuts. I wish I could have taken a photo of this fried bit of deliciousness, but sadly we attacked it too quickly for me to take a decent photo. In lieu of a photo, let me describe it to you: It wasn't quite a beignet, but it wasn't just some donut either. It was something in between dusted with powdered sugar and it came with a side of two different sauces: chocolate and raspberry. The service was fine, but I think our server was somewhat new (??) -- she seemed somewhat unfamiliar with the menu, when we had questions and taking our order, I think our entire table lowered our expectations slightly to account for possible hiccups with our order. Bottom line, it's the convenience of this restaurant, because the thought of dealing with mall traffic and parking, just to get dinner, especially if you are pressed for time, makes this place ideal

Service was good, ambiance is okay (a bit of family and a bit of bar fun...it depends where you sit). The drinks are nice. I had the flaming hater margaritas, which was a 6 out of 10. The old fashions were a 5 out of 10. I also had the $20 burgers, which was a 3 out of 10. It was oily, not tasty (meaning flavorless), and it had a handful of fries.

Matchbox has some interesting pizza combinations that may be worth exploring. The cheese pizza I had was soggy, no great quality or flavorful cheese. The salmon salad faired well and a good serving. The crabcake sandwich was better than expected. It had lumb crab and filler with a tasty sauce. It's about the size of a hamburger, there's filler but it's well balanced.

September 29th 2025 I went there today and I'm disappointed for the spare ribs the glaze of the sauce was too sweet had no flavor there was almost no meeting there I do remember long time ago I had that green pigs bistro with the really excellent Shroff silver to die for to lick the fingers compared to those it's a five levels difference so anyway I was disappointed restaurant was empty at 4:00 I know it's happy hour but nobody goes there there is a room for improvements restaurant looks beautiful also I noticed all the plans are plastic inside I will put some life plans inside and it was nobody at the front door no hostess I know it's only 4:00 but you need to keep employees no news channel on like those stupid sports all the time used to be America used to be you know I used to have a sport in new news use the newspapers in the restaurant to share then I go to the bathroom and you have a faucets which you know gives you 10 seconds water like in Virginia with a shortage of water change those faucets don't be so trendy with the green stuff Virginia we have plenty of water you dig the whole the water comes up you need to improve more restaurant your prices also for the food there are too high for the quality of the future of the wine you offer

We came on a Saturday morning at 10:40 am. It want super busy so we were able to get seated immediately. Brunch Food order Apps: Cinnamon rolls 2/5 Disappointing don't get it. It came out cold and was very hard on the outside. Instead of icing they actually use whip cream. I wish it was softer and warmer. Entrees Brunch pizza 3.5/5 Hangover burrito 5/5 Portions were very generous. Pricing was a bit expensive so makes sense. My bf and I were talking about how the steak and eggs could be $40 but we went to a higher end restaurant in DC the prior week called Old Ebbit and their portions were generous and steak and eggs were $28. So just a warning. Drinks Orange juice and coke Service was okay not the best not the worst. They did their job. Ambiance was nicer than some other matchboxes I've been to.

Huevos Rancheros. Good flavor but wasn't served hot.
    ChowNut ..

Came for lunch on a Saturday . Wasn't busy at all. After ordering it took awhile for the food to be served. After digging in I realized the food was probably sitting for a bit before the server got the food to us because everything was lukewarm. Ate it anyway. Water glass wasn't refilled even though I placed it by the aisle and the manager walked by several times and saw it was empty. Lots of improvement needed if they want reoccurring business/to survive because this restaurant is kind of off the beaten path with limited foot traffic in downtown McLean which is normally deserted during the summer with people on vacation.

This is my second time coming to Matchbox. It was definitely improved over the last time I visited one of their locations. We stopped in for a little brunch this past Saturday. They updated the menu to have a couple of new items and for it to have a new updated look which was nice. To start, the food was good but some of it is better than others. The cinnamon rolls were not good. They were a bit hard and not even warm. There wasn't much icing on them so they're a definite pass in my opinion. The brunch pizza was good but not great. A couple of slices didn't seem to have much sauce while others had much more sauce. The slices with more sauce tasted better with all the toppings. The star of the meal was the hangover burrito. My girlfriend and I both loved it! It had so much flavor and was filled with a lot of ingredients. It was served with rice and beans as well. The food was definitely filling. The ambiance is pretty standard for any chain restaurant these days. It's open and casual to feel more inviting. It's one of the newer locations so it's definitely more updated and modern. There wasn't much to brag about here though. They do have patio seating from what one of the signs said. The service was good. Our waitress was kind and always made sure we had refills and food was out quickly. I wouldn't say she went above and beyond but it could be that they're still finding their groove since it's a newer location. I'd say it's worth a stop here. They have a parking lot out front which is nice. This is the best Matchbox location that either me or my girlfriend have been to. If they work out some of the bumps they have, then I'm sure they'll be a great restaurant in the near future.

    Neha A.

Decent! I don't think it's the most amazing food ever, but there are a lot of options, and most of it is decent. I tried the veggie pizza, which was good but I wish they noted what was in the "medley" in case there is something you don't like (olives for me). I tried the fried chicken fingers, which were good but there was too much of the fry part. I also would have liked to see more sauces. For dessert, I tried the donuts and the brownie, both of which were fine, but nothing to write home about. The ambiance and service are nice, and it's very family friendly. Overall, I think you get what you pay for and I wouldn't mind returning.

Really enjoyed my time at circa!…read more Before coming, I perused the menu and knew that I wanted the chicken paillard. It was something I'd never heard of and looked like it had Angel hair pasta, arugula, and the chicken looked interesting. It looked fried, but not in a typical way. So when I got my meal, I was so pleasantly surprised at how delicious the chicken was. It was a light crispy, airy texture to the skin. And the pasta was delicious - so good. It had mushrooms and sweet peppers along with the butter sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed it! I also ended up getting a mocktail which was a spicy faux margarita. Not bad! It had a nice ambience for groups, and our server was super helpful. He made a lot of good suggestions and made sure to check on us. I understand that you can't as a restaurant work on the same menu all the time, but they take away almost all staples and replace them with something very questionable. So far I tried 2 items and both were with major issues. First I tried Grilled trout entree and trout was bland with nice farro side . Whole dish seems underwhelming and had a lack of bonding sauce or flavor profile to make it a dish. Second time I had Salmon salad and this was not good at all. Salmon itself was perfectly cooked as a medium rare on my liking and champagne dressing in mixed greens was good. But I salad had cold and slimy potato pieces and big chunks of blackish marinated onions,it was hard to eat and even unpleasant. I'm really disappointed, because Thai shrimp salad was absolutely best salad in DC area as well as other very popular dishes from old menu. Please bring back Thai Shrimp!!

Recently, Eater DC published a list of what they considered the best steakhouses in the DMV…read more Randy's made the list. We were looking for a place to have our anniversary dinner. After seeing the list, we chose Randy's. Randy's is a Great American Restaurant, and I must say it's so good to go to a GAR with a menu different from the others. In the past, I've written about how one can go to Coastal Flats and get pretty much the same menu as, for example, Jackson's. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We arrived about a half hour early, so we asked if they could seat us right then and there. The people at the host stand said "yes". We were seated at a 4-top booth. Thus, there was plenty of room. The booths, which have mohair seat coverings, were a shade of green and quite attractive. The environment clearly says "upscale steakhouse." Our server was prompt in getting to us and asked if we wanted some water. We chose tap water. He gave us time to look over the menu. We decided to not have any appetizers as we didn't want to get too full. To drink, my husband got a glass of Catena Malbec while I got an Espresso Martini. Our server asked if we wanted some bread. We said "yes". The bread basket had 2 flaky, buttery croissants, plus a slice of white bread and a slice with raisins. For our main course, we both got the 7 oz. filet mignon cooked medium rare. We chose to try two sides. One side was "roasted asparagus" which consists of: "poached egg, parmesan (we asked for no cheese and our request was honored), truffled Bernaise aioli". The second side was "Honey roasted organic rainbow carrots," which were "dusted with candied walnuts". As for the food --- We both thought our steaks were properly cooked, However, my husband said his was on the dry side while mine was just right. We both really enjoyed the side dishes. The asparagus was unconventional, to be sure. Never did I have a poached egg with asparagus. I ate the egg, and it was properly cooked. Looking back, I should have thought to put some salt on it as there was none. The truffled sauce was creamy and added nice flavor. The carrots, to me anyway, were a pleasant surprise. The honey added a nice flavor along with the candied walnuts. They, too, were cooked perfectly. As for being "rainbow" carrots, most were orange, with some white and yellow ones. We had some room for dessert, so we decided to share "Tressa's crispy meringue filled with lemon curd and finished with passionfruit coulis". Since it was our anniversary dinner, a dollop of whipped cream was added to the plate. In that dollop was a lit candle, which was a nice touch. I found the coulis to be on the tart side. The lemon curd was mildly flavored. Service was excellent, though dessert took a while ,to arrive. All in all, a nice splurge and we're glad we came here. (Well...we didn't care for the traffic on Leesburg Pike, but the dinner made it worth the trip).

The food felt largely pre-prepared rather than made with care. The calamari had the texture and uniformity of frozen, breaded product, paired with bottled sauces. We shared the "Bayou" tortellini, which came across as bagged pasta with sliced chicken sausage in a flat, unseasoned tomato sauce. The name oversells what is, in reality, a very basic dish. Dinner rolls also seemed pre-made, though at least served warm. The interior feels dated and could benefit from a refresh, both aesthetically and in overall attention to detail. The service was OK, though our guest ordered a club soda and received a tonic water. When this was pointed out, the server brought a can of club soda out with a new glass and placed it on the table. Not the experience we expect. There's potential here, but it would require a meaningful shift toward fresher ingredients, more thoughtful preparation, and a clearer sense of identity in the menu. As it stands, there are better options in the area.

Chef Anthony DiGregorio is doing something really special here. From the moment you walk in, the whole place just feels inviting. The open kitchen adds a fun buzz, and the staff couldn't be nicer--they really make you feel taken care of without it ever feeling over the top. And the food... wow. The charcuterie board has this melt-in-your-mouth pâté and amazing cheeses. The prawns are so good you'll catch yourself reaching for "just one more" every time. The tuna tartare is unbelievably fresh--one bite and you're hooked. The burrata with heirloom tomatoes is bright and flavorful, and the duck special? Let's just say you won't want it to end. Then dessert shows up--a cherry blossom cake that's light, beautiful, and just screams spring. Everything comes out on gorgeous Pordamsa plates, and honestly, each dish looks like it belongs in a photo gallery. No matter what you order, you really can't go wrong. Your taste buds will thank you. And bonus--it's just a short Metro ride from DC, so getting there is easy. I've also heard the hotel has great packages, and if you stay for breakfast, the deliciousness keeps going! Go. You'll be glad you did

He was warm, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly without ever feeling intrusive. You can tell when someone genuinely enjoys what they do -- and that was definitely the case here. The rest of the team was just as welcoming and professional. Our tables were set up in a perfect location, which made it easy for everyone to talk and enjoy the evening together. The food was fantastic (as always) -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented and the happy hour price are so affordable for the amazing quality, the flatbreads were awesome . Not a single complaint from anyone in the group. What really stands out about this location is how comfortable they make you feel. It's that rare mix of polished service and relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to come back again. We'll definitely be hosting more gatherings here. Thank you to the GM Matt his team and Ben and the entire team for consistently taking such great care of us!

We brought our son and his roommate for dinner whom had never been to the restaurant. The restaurant is in the mall, so mall parking is available although on our visit it was insanely busy and the parking green/red availability markers were not functioning properly. Fortunately, I was able to locate a spot without too much stress, prayer, or endless navigation. My wife was able to make a reservation and we were promptly seated upon arrival. Service seemed a little slow to take our drink order and receive them so I felt we had to guide the server on next actions to avoid wait. I had the pork chop which comes with cabbage but was allowed to swap it for mashed potatoes. A green vegetable would have been nice to come with the entree so I had to order additional sides such as the Brussels sprouts with bacon, and sweet potatoes. Everything was delicious. My son's roommate is a vegetarian and was able to find a lentil dish and salad on the menu for his meal. He was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the meal, ingredients, and low calorie counts across the menu. I asked for a bread basket if they had one since it wasn't offered and we received four 2"x4" thin pieces of a thin bread like a tortilla. I could've used a few more of those baskets while we awaited our meal since it didn't have an impact as a bread roll might. A good visit, good food, decent service, and a decent price.

Nice boutique cafe with a galore of croissants, donuts, cookies with some seasonal/weekly specials…read more I've made my rounds through the menu and ate more pastries than I can count! The seasonal Donuts and the Croissant Tarts keep me coming back! Best Donuts - Pumpkin Pie Donut, Tiramisu Donut, Key Lilme Pie, Boston Cream, and Hot Cocoa Nutella donut. The Strawberry and Raspberry have a Jelly/Jam filling, and wasn't a big fan of the Cookie Butter Donut that tasted like creamy peanut butter or the Cannoli donut that didn't have the sweet creamy filling that I was hoping for. Croissant Tarts - Both the sweet and savory tarts deliver! The Raspberry Cream Cheese Tart, Red Pepper Feta Tart, Apple Tart, and Everything Tart are all delicious! The classic Garlic Spinach Tart and Shroom Tart are fine. Best Croissants - Christmas Tree Raspberry Croissant, Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse Croissant, Apple Butter Crumble Croissant, Almond Croissant, and Matcha Croissant. The cookies are pretty light and fluffy, the Lemon Cheesecake Cookie tasted like a lemon sugar cookie with no filling. For Valentine's Day, the Linzer sugar cookie filled with raspberry jam was delicious! So glad I grabbed the last one by 11am on Saturday! For Mother's Day, there were colorful macaroons. All of the fillings with the donuts and croissants are whipped and pretty light. There's a parking garage next door and you can get parking validated for 1 hour. While there's plenty of seating inside, it can get packed over the weekends. There's no outdoor seating (there's some makeshift seating around the high-rise building). Great local bakery with a lot of baked goodies to choose from!
