I took my family here for a late brunch one Sunday. It was our first time eating here. The $30 brunch menu has great options and even though most portions are considered small, you can order a maximum of six items which is AWESOME! I was shocked to see how big the pizza was off the brunch menu. Very generous portion. The shrimp and grits were so good, I ordered them twice. My wife had the ribs off the lunch menu and they were AMAZING. Our waiter got a big tip that day as he was on point! Great customer service and always made sure we were satisfied. Our family will definitely come back again. read more

I really enjoy this restaurant and was really excited to try their pizza. I was very disappointed with their basic pepperoni and cheese pizza. They go overboard with the pepperoni to the point the pizza is super greasy and the cheese literally slips off the crust. There isn't much flavor to this pizza beyond the extra spiciness of the pepperoni. Still looking for good pizza in Ashburn... read more

Love Matchbox in One Loudoun. Food is great, atmosphere is engaging and service top notch! I highly recommend Roberto as a waiter!

Roberto is the best waiter ever. Order anything on the menu and he will make sure you get it super fast and fresh! Quality and diversity of choices is like no other...beyond words!! Just make sure you call ahead and ask for Roberto to ensure fantastic visit! read more

Pros: nice atmosphere and spacious Cons: pizza was not good. Menu stated might bubble due to being wood fired. Both pizzas at our table were undercooked and doughy. The sauce was very bland for $25 pizza. My niece ordered a burger with avocado and NO tomato. She got one with tomato and NO avocado. The service was very slow even though there were only 3 seated tables in the section where we were seated. read more

This is a regular spot to goto for me and my wife. We started originally going to the Matchbox in Rockville. I would say that they're about equal quality. We started out with 6 burger sliders with shredded onion fries and both got pizzas. Service was great this time. Waiters are all really nice but I've come here before and they were kind of slow if you're in a rush. read more

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and worth going just to be there. But you will have to pay for the beauty but probably not anymore than any other new restaurant in Loudoun County. It's just damn expensive to go anywhere these days. We got the $18 French dip and almost as expensive crab cake sandwich. Both were very good. The French Dip was not shy on the meat and the au jus was full of flavor. The crab cake was substantial and would make a Marylander proud. We had three drinks at the bar before we ate. Two Bloody Mary's and a Moscow Mule for a total of $38 plus tip...Really??? read more

We loved the ambiance and the service. Went there for a quick bite before our movies at the Alamo. Husband has the Crab Sandwich while I opted for the Calamari. Delish!!! Would def be back!! read more

Catie the manager was awesome! Stopped by our table and made sure to introduce herself and welcome us to the restaurant. Had the Arancini and it was fantastic! It's one of my favorite dishes and was by far some of the best I have ever had. The rest of the experience was equally fantastic, reasonably priced and with great atmosphere. Would recommend you give it a Came back for another visit and everything was just as good or better than my first visit! Scott the manager checked in on us and Catie did as well. The service is great and the food quality is outstanding! Can't wait to get back here for my next visit! read more

Shout out to Halley for awesome service during my moms birthday! Thanks!!! Awesome service, great food, great conversation read more

We had Sunday brunch. We shared the Ahi tuna tacos, the tuna could have had more seasoning...the siracha mayo was the star. We had the crab Benedict and the huevos ranchos. The eggs in the ranchos were raw whites. I had to returned and went with the burrito which was good. The only thing that wow us was the service and the cheese pizza which our son crushed. read more

We had a wonderful time! Our server Hallee was amazing! We got appetizers and meals. My favorite is the cream of crab soup. I get it every time. I can't believe the lump crab meat that they use with it. My husband's favorite is the rigatoni. It's his favorite of all the resdturants. .A great place for the whole family! read more

It was so crowded, noisy and uncomfortable. The crispy chickens has lower quality than Chick file . When you want to call a waitress/ waiter, your hand needs to be waved in the air for 15 minutes !!!!!!!! read more

This was my first visit to a Matchbox and I came here with my co-worker for business dinner. The atmosphere is lovely and Danny was our server. He was friendly and attentive. I allergy with onion and I couldn't decide on what type of food that I like but he was patience to guided me with the best option. I give five star experience because of Server- Danny. Thank you Danny and definitely I would come back again. read more

I've only been here a few times but I haven't had a bad experience yet. The fried chicken sandwich (get it Nashville Hot) might be the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Definitely one of the better spots in One Loudoun. read more

Awesome restaurant. Love the style of the building and the food was delicious. Our server was so kind. Plus, we were able to get reservations for a large group an hour before we wanted to arrive on a Friday night. What?!?!? Sat on the second floor patio and had a great breeze so a 95 degree evening felt cool and beach like. read more

I would recommend Matchbox for happy hour, but we didn't have a great experience when we visited with our toddler for dinner. Seems like it's better suited for nightlife than a family outing. Food is delicious! read more

Highly recommend this branch of Matchbox. Yes, the music is too load, but the service and the food options are terrific. If you are served by Ifedayo, you are in luck as he was very attentive. We had three delicious thin crust pizzas: the Q Special, the Proscuito, Fig and Honey, and the classic Margherita. We saved room for the desserts - highly recommend that you do too! The churros were light and airy, the lemon and rapsberry sorbet were sweet and tart, and the classic sundae was incredibly delicious. read more

I've been here quite a few times and typically get the brunchbox. The food is great. Avocado toast, shrimp and grits, French toast, burger bites, and chilaquilles are my go-to dishes. Yum! First couple of visits, it took forever for the small plates to come out but I was pleased with the service this last visit. Since you can only order 3-4 items at a time, I would order the next set of plates right after the first round arrived. That may have helped. One issue I had was with the amount of flies that they really need to control. Hard to enjoy good food when you're too busy brushing away 3-4 flies at your table nor is it appealing after one falls into your mimosa. read more

Excellent service and good food. Roberto was our server and he was so friendly. We never wanted for anything. He had recommendations on specials and pizzas we should try. I went with the Fire & Smoke and it was delicious. read more

Food was good. But forgot salad I ordered, brought it at end of meal. Crispy chicken, Cobb salad, Caesar salad and filet mignon with crab cake was great (crab cake especially). Asked for med well steak, brought med rare, but was still good. Juan Car was server, he did a great job. read more

Love this place for casual dining with great service. It has inside and outside bar and eating areas. Interesting layout. Lots of different types of seating. The aranccini and pizzas are wonderful. Went there without a reservation on a Saturday night during Homecoming so it was very busy. The hostess was very accommodating, helping to locate a table where our party of 5 could talk and hear each other. The server was very helpful and food was tasty. "The Classic" dessert was our favorite (brownies, ice cream and whip cream). A tad pricey for casual American food, but I have enjoyed every visit. read more

I used to be a frequent customer at Matchbox, but not anymore. Horrible experience last night with the food and staff. Many issues with the food and service and no one there seemed to care. Never going back and won't recommend this place to anyone. read more

My friends and I were celebrating my 20th birthday last night and wanted to get burgers so we tried the place because it looked really nice and thought they had good dessert. Turned out when we sat down our server sounded very persuasive, he kind of had a bald head but he was making us buy the most expensive meals on the menu and scammed one of my friends with a 16$ appetizer. He didn't even ask he rudely requested it and we tried to take it back but told us he only put it in... then we got our food the appetizer wasn't really good but our burgers was, that's the only thing I liked about it. The service was terrible kept focusing on his other table but us and we didn't really enjoy our dinner. My friends told them to they it was my birthday and forgot to come by so that made us even more upset. Sorry but I don't think I'm coming back to the place. read more

matchbox - The food was good but service wasn't great. - New American Near Me - Ashburn, Virginia

My family and I stopped in to Matchbox this past Wednesday, December 12/30 and while the restaurant appeared to be pretty crowded, we were able to be seated right away- there is more room than you think. The two young ladies at the host stand were very, very friendly and the one who seated us was nice to chat with and told us a little bit about the restaurant. Our server Jessica was outstanding, very professional and friendly. I saw a table of what looked like unsatisfied customers who were giving her a hard time but she handled herself very well. I honestly couldn't see the menu very well as I forgot my reading glasses and it was a bit dark but I had checked out the menu online and decided I wanted the steak. My kids wanted pizza so Matchbox was a good fit for us. My steak was cooked perfectly- I asked for it rare and it was perfect. The only thing I can say is it needed a little seasoning on it. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper as it tasted like it was not seasoned at all. At $36 it was very expensive for the size and the sides that came with it. There are much better steaks at half the cost within a short distance. The pizza was pretty good, the only quibble my wife and kids had was that the pizza was charred a little too much on the bottom and the plain cheese pizza was pretty spicy, so much so that my daughter only ate half a slice. My son got through it but he doesn't want to go back. My wife had the pepperoni pizza and she said that was so spicy she pulled the pepperoni off. Matchbox is good, not fantastic but they are clearly training their staff well, we were treated very well by a nice, professional staff. The food, with a couple of tweaks, could be great. I would seriously reconsider that $36 steak though, it just doesn't fit on that menu. I would like the steak for about $18, that would seem fair. I don't mind paying a decent price for dinner, but you want to feel like you got your money's worth. I'll try Matchbox again one of these days. read more

This used to be my favorite place. However lately their menu has been going south. They took the "Steak and Greens" OFF THE MENU. It was my favorite dish ever, my go-to dish. That was generally a very popular choice, I have no idea why they would do that. Also they changed their braised short rib recipe. It used to be so delectable and I didn't even need a fork. It was so tender I could scoop it with a spoon. But, now it tastes cheap. I'm really disappointed. read more

It is great to have a local place to go to that is consistently very good. The service, food, atmosphere and people are great. We like this place so much that we usually go at least once a week. When you go ask for Katelyn as your server. Really great at what she does and very nice. Also be sure to ask for the General Manager Scott. Really great guy and very good at what he does. Scott is always interested in hearing about how you feel about his restaurant. read more

The food & drinks were good but the service was awful. It was a kind of busy lunch time with 3 or 4 bartenders. She woman (kind of older, short black hair, she didn't give her name) purposefully ignored my husband and me. We literally made eye contact and raised our hand to indicate we wanted more drinks but she walked away. This went on for about ten minutes before we got frustrated and asked for our check. We ended up having to flag down a different server to get our check because ours kept ignoring us. We watched her get drink orders and help the other two couples sitting next to us and not once did she check on us read more

We went here looking to enjoy a Sunday evening as a family. We would up disappointed in both the service and some of the food. Our server was missing in action, and after 25 minutes our dinner order still had not been taken and our server was nowhere to be seen. It took 20 minutes to get a beer. An Individual appearing to be a manager or assistant manager overheard us and took our order. When our order arrived, my $12 Cobb salad looked literally identical to a bowl of lettuce. When I told our server it had no avocado or anything else she said yes it did, but clearly I was not blind. Again, the manager overheard us and apologized saying the cook did not know how to make a Cobb salad. When he brought back the salad the only thing added was avocado and it had the wrong dressing but at this point everyone else was eating and I was fed up, so I didn't complain. Additionally, I had to ask another waitress to bring us our check because again, our waitress was nowhere to be seen. When she finally brought us our check she apologized saying they were short staffed. For the prices you pay in this restaurant I would expect the service to be much better and the food to actually be something worth the money. Very disappointed and honestly I feel like my salad should've been comped. I understand everyone has bad days but no one stepped up to the plate. Will not return. read more

First time trying this new location and was excited to check it out. There were 7 of us for brunch at 10am on a Sunday. Our Server was very friendly but service could have been a bit quicker. We waited awhile for water and our drink order The brunch menu was pretty small and pricey. I got the Walk of Shame burrito that came with guac and potatoes. The guac was super packed with lime which made it difficult to enjoy. The potatoes were ok and the burrito was nothing to love. It wasn't bad but it wasn't exciting. The best part of the experience was the ambiance. It was really open with high ceilings and rustic features. I would like to try the lunch and dinner menu sometime. read more

I have visited several Matchbox locations, but this is certainly my fave due to its location close to my home and Work! Chain restaurants or those with multiple locations can often suffer from a lack of consistency. Will the food you ordered at another location taste remotely similar to this location ? Will the service be as great as you remembered? at Matchbox One Loudoun, I can happily report consistency and yummy food and cocktails! I have enjoyed many meals here , with friends , coworkers ,dates and I always leave well fed and smiling . The atmosphere is very casual, but sleek, and you're never rushed here. It's pretty crowded during happy hour --and the outdoor patio and bar become full of chatter and plenty of people. I enjoy it though -because you can feel comfortable dining alone or with a group . My favorite things to order are the half Matchbox meats , half Q special pizza-hearty and delicious ! I also love the Nashville Hot Crispy Chicken sandwich , the crispy half chicken , the bistro burger , the calamari and the chicken wings ! My drinks of choice include the patio pounder , Cosmo with Tito's, the amazing Southern charmer and I love their Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc! I recommend this location over the Merrifield and Capitol Hill locations based on familiarity and great service ! read more

I was in the area for happy hour (not at Matchbox) and decided to have my husband meet me here for dinner. It was a good choice. Let me start with that - we'll be back. A friend had warned that it was a fun atmosphere but a little loud. They were right - it was loud but tolerable. We were waited on right away and brought water to start. Drinks came out promptly and the waiter suggested appetizers. We decided to try his suggestion - the guac and crab with flatbread. It was quite good actually. Interesting combination but the very good. The serving size was nice - crab served to the side of the guacamole. The guacamole was fresh as was the crab and the crab was nice and sweet. Although they are known for their pizza - we opted to order a pasta dish (penne or rigatoni I don't remember) with a spicy sausage and I ordered the prime rib French dip. Both were very good. The fries were a little on the soft side but not too bad. French dip was tender and rare and au jous was tasty - not too salty as some can be. I do have to say that it did take a while to get containers to go for the second half of my sandwich, extra au jous and the check - but all in all it was a good first experience and we will be back to try the pizza and/or other enticing items on the menu. read more

Visited the One Loudoun Matchbox with the kids and a friend yesterday. Nothing was bad, but seemed a bit pricy. a few examples: Instead of a bread basket, you have to pay a buck for about two cents worth of baked pizza dough. Second, the kids' cups of milk were puny. Third, the $16 crab cake "sammich" was about $4 too expensive. the onion straws were delish as always, but still just an add-on. Also, the menu seemed a bit on the small side -- didn't see the giant meatball that everyone raves about. read more
