Discovered this place recently at One Loudoun district. I found my new drink to be an old fashioned! I must say, "they make one of the best ones" absolutely amazingly delicious! If you haven't tried one, please stop by matchbox and let them show you how good they are at BARTENDING! read more

I was going to give 4 stars but the more i think about it i think 3 is appropriate. This place is supposedly known for their pizza. I found the pizza just OK, nothing that stood out to me making me want to return asap. I believe that if a place is known for something particular, and fails to impress with that item, the place looses some credibility. About 8 of us went on a Monday night, we had no reservation and the hostess was very nice and talked to a manager to get us a big booth. FOOD: We ordered the tuna tacos as an appetizer and I LOVED IT. Raw pieces of Ahi tuna served in a semi soft taco shell. For some reason i remember this as the highlight of my meal. I got a jalapeno margarita that was very nice as well. How for the main course we got pizzas and burgers. I tasted two different pizzas and am a little confused how this place is "known" for their pizza. Its just OK pizza, Definitely a step above chain pizza places, but nothing stood out for their pizzas. The burgers were amazing (I was told) and out of the two pizzas i tried i have to recommend the "Fire and Smoke" pizza with chicken. I like spicy food and really enjoyed that pizza over "q's Special" pizza. I regret not trying their charcuterie. I was going to order it but no one else wanted to and i assumed it was too much for just one person. If i return that will be the next thing i get here. The matchbox Mule was also pretty good. Service: Our servers name was MALCOLM. He was spectacular in every way. He clearly explained things on the menu and even gave recommendations based on some of my friends tastes. The service here is really good, from the hostess to our server i have to say this place earned 5 stars in terms of service. Take: will i be back? yea maybe, especially if i am around the Loudoun area. However i will not be getting any pizza from them, i would venture on to other things on the menu. If you do go, check out the Tuna tacos appetizer, you can thank me later. read more

Terrible first impression. Upon entering, the hostess immediately had a horrible attitude. My husband simply asked if there was seating available upstairs (outdoors). Her response was given in a very rude way. If you work as a hostess and are the first impression your customers receive, you should be somewhat welcoming and not annoyed when people enter for dinner and ask a question about available seating. I would give this zero stars based on my experience but that's not an option. Matchbox - my husband and I love your food but please find a nicer hostess to greet your customers. read more

New favorite! Fabulous cocktails, amazing food. We started with the mini burgers with onion straws - delicious, would have been perfectly satisfied, but we had to check more on the menu.. I had the French Dip, couldn't finish it all. The roast beef was perfectly done, great choice. My husband had the pepperoni/sausage pizza and loved it. Our server was fabulous, she said we must try the churros. We decided to try, take home what we couldn't finish. There are no churros in the take home bag. Why? They were amazing and we polished them off! read more

The design of this new LoCo spot is hip and rustic, it oozes comfort and intimacy. They have taken many of the best elements from their previous restaurants and rolled them into one. The coolest tables are the floating booths and the chef's table that looks into the prep kitchen; complete transparency here. The back room looks like the inside of a barrel and it is cozy and romantic. The bar is huge and has lots of outdoor seating. For an opening night, the place sure didn't have a lot of kinks. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, as well as personable. All the staff were friendly and prompt. The food was fantastic. Everything came out cooked to perfection. We went with a large party and decided to order multiple apps and then share a few entrees -- these were the highlights. - The charcuterie board had an amazing selection. - The arancini was actually pretty light and served with a fantastic tomato sauce. - The 3-6-9 sliders are always ace and they did not disappoint. Cooked to perfect pink with a yummy aged white cheddar. - The meatball was indeed ginormous and a delicious combination of meats. - The fig and prosciutto pizza has such an interesting array of flavor; it is a new favorite. - The short ribs were the show stopper. Melt in your mouth perfection. The cornbread it is served with will ruin you for any other cornbread ever; it's spectacular. - For dessert, you cannot go wrong with the trio. The brownie was great, but the sorbet was super and the churros were reinvented - soft and airy -unbelievable. They have hit this one out of the ballpark!! read more

Waited 20 minutes for our waiter to greet us, old dried food was stuck in the silver wear, and their must have been an ice shortage because there was approx 2 pieces of ice in my glass of soda. We were never once brought a refill. I was hoping the salmon would be light and refreshing but it was VERY sweet and VERY heavy. Our waiter did not offer us desert or ask if we wanted anything before bringing us the check, making us feel very rushed. When we asked for to go boxes for a large pizza, we were give a plastic container that you would put a salad in, therefore having to cram several slices into one small container. We watched other customers around us be brought refills, actual pizza to go boxes for their leftovers, and the manager asking how their dinning experience was. We did not receive the same treatment. Will NOT be coming back here! read more

The exterior and interior had a lot going for it and by the looks of it, it should have been some sort of farm to table type restaurant. We looked at the menu which was posted outside the building and it looked OK. When we were seated the menu we got did not match up to what we saw outside and I honestly wanted to leave because nothing looked go anymore. We got a burger, a pizza and a the chicken sandwich. The burger was fine, nothing special, but the shoe string onion rings were good. The chicken sandwich was actually really good and if you're OK with some heat definitely get the special sauce. The fries were horrible and I couldn't eat them. Now the pizza, this place apparently prides itself on their pizza and it was beyond sad. It looked like something from dominos, where the toppings didn't go to the end and the sauce and crust wasn't anything worth coming back for. Not sure how you can be a "pizza" place with pizza like that. read more

We had lunch today at Matchbox. The seating outside is a great addition. The pizza was served cold but the crust is thin and delicious. Matchbox is expensive for the quality and portion Of the food . read more

We went here for lunch and had an amazing experience. We had the burger sliders which might of been the most perfect little burgers I have had ever ! Then we shared the beet and burrata salad which was beautifully dressed. Both of these I would give 5 out of 5. Lastly we shared a Fire pizza. The crust was amazing but it was too spicy hit for my taste and I love spicy ( I put sriracha on everything). I will hold off rating the pizza until I give the pizza another try. I can't wait to try many things on the menu. This place has a nice vibe and we had a great waitress to make it an overall great experience. read more

I went there on Wednesday expecting there would be less crowded on weekdays but,it was fully packed. We were been seated in few minutes . I love the service, ambience and food. I would suggest this place to give a try. The best thing is pizza for me. read more

Excellent. I'm familiar with Matchbox from the Chinatown location in DC. Same great food and service. My favorites are the pizza, salads and rigatoni. I also love the contemporary styling of the building. I'm happy they've come to One Lodoun read more

Matchbox brunch is not bad. Some meals were good and others were okay. The other than the pizza this place isn't bad. Great host and servers at this location, very accommodating! read more

Their happy hour for appetizers is great! Drinks are still pricy even during HH. I would say their calamari is one of the best I've ever tried and I'm a sucker for calamari. It's soft and lightly breaded. I don't get the fuzz over their pizzas, they're not bad, but I'm not a huge fan. Their avocado and crab is also one of my favorites. Specialty drinks are delicious too. read more

This is what happens when you go "outside your bubble" - you find this gem. Matchbox @ One Loudoun. First timers - but definitely not last timers. From the front desk to the food to the greatest server EVER! Couldn't have asked for a better time or a better meal. Our server was funny, gave great recommendations and always went above and beyond. Check this place out - you wont be disappointed and I'm already drooling thinking about what I will order on our next visit. read more

Love the atmosphere here and great service. The food is fresh to order and the waitress was so helpful and attentive. Two Thumbs up!!!!

Hanging solo today and needed a little lunch and beers for the day off. Headed over to one loudoun since they have lots of good choices, but few were actually open before 1130. Noticed matchbox was open so I dropped in. Was greeted quickly and walked over to the bar to grab a seat, but not before navigating a group of matchbox managers or marketers taking a picture of their food. They were pleasant, but maybe step aside when a customer walks in? Bartender was attentive and quick to grab my drink order. Grabbed a burger too. It was pretty decent and I left mostly satisfied, except the dent left in my wallet. Sure I drink premium beer, but compared to other places this ran a bit expensive. I wish I could give it more stars, but I had to pawn one off for gas money home. read more

This place has incredible food. I've had the meatballs, pizza, burger with onion straws, calamari (different, and the best I've ever had) probably more that I can't remember. My friends have tried other things and raves from everyone, every time. It's got a very cool and hip atmosphere and great drinks. They have one drink called Southern Charmer that will make you a very happy camper (and I don't even like bourbon!) But...YUM! The only problem with this place is that it's just too pricey to go very often. If you can hit Happy Hour you will save some on some items (ie, the Southern Charmer is $8 on HH, vs $11 regular). Basically I LOVE the place but I'm just too poor to be a regular here. read more

I was charged twice for my pickup order on January 15th, which included a bottle of wine. The server, Juan M., forgot the wine on my original bill and instead of bringing me another bill for just the wine, he brought me a new bill for everything and told me he would figure it all out. Of course that didn't happen and now I'm having to deal with a dispute with the bank because Matchbox refuses to rectify their error. If that weren't enough, the fifteen minutes I spent in the restaurant waiting for the server to "figure it out" were the unsafest I have felt during the pandemic. Half a dozen groups walked by me, some maskless. Patrons congregated while waiting for the greeter to take them to their tables. It was as if I had stepped into an alternate world where inside the doors of Matchbox, COVID-19 doesn't exist. Needless to say I won't ever be dining here again, takeout or otherwise. read more

Where to start... Atmosphere is nice when you walk in, you're greeted and sat by a nice staff but food isn't all that. Ordered the burger medium rare my fiancée ordered the same thing but medium well. We waited 45 minutes for the food. My burger came out unevenly cooked. One side was medium well, other half was rare. My fiancees burger came out B U R N T, black over cooked and dry. I told the waiter and he bought it back to the "chef" and they refired it. Waited another 25 minutes for a refire. It came out again, well done. At this point I was just frustrated and told the waiter it was ok. We proceeded to order dessert and waited yet another 30 minutes for dessert. The worst part, the place was not even half full. I have worked in the restaurant industry before and it is pathetic that your "chef" can't cook a simple burger correct and how does it take 25 minutes to refire a burger. Won't be coming back. read more

The pizza is awesome!!! My fiancé got the chicken pesto pizza and I got the pepperoni pizza. Just the right size for both of us. We also got the Allagash white beer and the matchbox Mamosa and I found myself drinking more of his beer then I thought I would. Totally recommend and stopping by and trying! For dessert we got the trio. Churros brownie and sherbet. Amaze balls! read more

This is a "takeout" order review only. When I picked up my order of course I received the wrong appetizer, I say of course b/c this has happened numerous times at numerous locations for takeout. Must be a pandemic thing ,. The vegan pizza ummm skip it. Flavors don't mesh well. For some reason all of the pizzas were very salty ( vegan, Margarita, and cheese). I'm gonna press the pause button on this place for a bit. read more

Awesome experience at Matchbox.. Love the ambience .. It's kind of open and feels very welcoming which is great!! We were greeted and promptly seated at a nice bar area.. Our server( don't remember his name now) was new but very smart and helpful.. He helped us in choosing the right things which we really appreciated.. The pizza - oh my god- was so good!! It's a must try! I had burger, I guess chicken burger was fine too but pizza was the highlight of that night.. Overall a nice and exciting atmosphere around.. Thumps up!!! read more

I love Matchbox food. I've been to a handful, so this review is a reflection on the service. It took entirely too much time for a server to come to our table and ask for our drink order, and in between getting a drink and food order. our food came out timely, but our server was nowhere to be seen. Halfway through my pizza, my server asked if i needed a refill. He didn't deliver the drink until i was finished with my pizza and ready for my check. Such a shame, because I love the food. But I most likely will not be returning to this location. read more

The lunch menu has a fun mix of pizzas ($13-$18) and sandwiches ($11-$16). I opted to try a half spicy meatball and half margherita pie. Both were quite delicious, but not really worth the $14 price tag. The architecture and feeling of the restaurant is quite impressive. It's really a beautiful place! Our server had a vibrant personality and was very attentive. Unfortunately, service was very slow. A Lunch for four people lasted well over an hour. I will likely come back and try some of the sandwiches, but won't be adding Matchbox to my lunch rotation. Some affordable lunch specials and quicker service would be much appreciated! read more

I really enjoyed my experience here at Matchbox. There were a lot of people as it was a Friday night, but I was able to sit right down at the pizza bar. Our waiter, Diego, was great! Very attentive, friendly, and happy. I had the pizza and was able to choose half and half so I could try both options I was trying to decide between. My wife had the crab cakes and they were fresh incredibly good. We will be back for sure! This is a great addition to One Loudoun! read more

disappointing. bar service was terrible! bartender was only attentive to the people you could tell were his regulars. he put a ton of grenadine in my aperol spritz, which was horrible and he didn't pour the prosecco properly so it overflowed all over the glass and he didn't even wipe it before serving it to me. place was very loud. menu was sparse of appetizing options. pizza was just ok. only pleasant part of the whole experience was the friendly host and waitress. would not go back. read more

I've eaten here twice and it's alright. The pizza isn't that great. It's really thin crust to the point that I was still hungry after eating it. Im never hingry after eating a meal-usually i even have leftovers. I got the chicken pesto pizza and it was incredibly oily and my husband got the fig and prosciutto pizza it was a average. Honestly &pizza is better and more filling. The previous time I went here I got a scallop dish that was on special and it was really good. If I go back I won't be getting a pizza. read more

Menu is pretty much what you would expect from a casual pizza and burgers/sandwiches restaurant. Went in to check them out. First day open. Everything is clean and shiny! Sat at the bar and had a cream of crab soup for $6.00.
