Mango sticky rice sundae and strawberry matcha
    Ridhima R.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is so cute and pretty![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went to try their new mango items and it was really good! We got the mango sticky rice sundae and strawberry matcha- both were delicious! Unfortunately I went to get the mango soft serve but they were out, but hopefully next time they have it. Service was also really fast!

Everything was just ok. The matcha wouldn't have been that great without the strawberry component. The customer service was ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place itself is cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

(long-overdue post) I really really wished we had a location in SC Matcha Cafe Maiko is going to be a must on every trip to/through Georgia. If you're a matcha fanatic like I, you'll be head-over-heels in love with this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is cute & small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The young man who took our order wasn't rude or anything, just not very friendly I guess? Lol it didn't matter much after we got our drinks, I was in heaven. The soft serve is top tier & has a great matcha flavor. I mean, just look at the color. & I'm still craving that banana brûlée matcha to this day!! We'll be back for sure!

I love coming here whenever I feel like treating myself to something unique. Although known for their matcha, I actually come here for their seasonal flavors/items. They generally rotate new flavors in, usually based on what's trending at the current time I assume? But some flavors they've rotated are ube, Vietnamese coffee, mango, Thai tea, black sesame etc. I love that you can get a mix of the seasonal flavor with matcha or with vanilla in soft serve. I also love that they usually do a drink variation as well. They also continue to serve their seasonal items in their freezer section even once they go out of the rotation! You can find a variety of different flavors in pre packaged pint containers in their freezer. What recently brought me back was their mango sticky rice. I got both the mango sticky rice sundae and the mango sticky rice slushie. I loved both and love that they include real mango. The only downside I think is that their menu is a bit pricey. But since I only come for seasonal items every now and then, definitely worth it!

I always get the hojicha latte and it's so flavorful. It has a very gentle taste and it's sooo refreshing. If you're looking for something that more mellow with less caffeine, I would highly recommend! I did notice that their lattes are made with a pre-made tea base so if you're looking for something fresher and made on-the-spot, I would take that into consideration.

Been to Matcha Maiko a few times and the quality is always consistent. The pandan soft serve is good, but I wish the flavor was stronger. The matcha soft serve is smooth, creamy, and super yummy, but my friends and I agree that the ube flavor is even better. The banana pudding is very sweet and comes topped with banana slices and vanilla wafers. Putting it on top of ice cream is a fun concept, but I got sick of the sweetness of it all pretty quick. Overall, this is a solid spot for soft serve with great texture and flavors.

Love, love, love cafe maiko. I'm such a matcha fan and this place does not disappoints. Their ice cream is soft serve and it's delicious. I get the matcha flavor and it has a waffle cone. My son loves their classic vanilla one. They usually have some season flavors and offerings as well. My husband tried vanilla and banana pudding last time which was delicious and was part of their seasonal menu. They also have drinks like smoothies and lattes as well. Their service is fast and efficient. They are usually very busy and have a line but it goes fast and the employees at the cash register are pretty fast at getting the order ready. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is pretty small but they have two really cute tables that are the Asian style sitting on the floor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As well as a few regular tables and chairs[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Many people also do to go orders as well.

I ordered the Mango sticky rice with mango ice cream. So tasty. The rice was well cooked and infused with the sauce. The mango ice cream was refreshing and light. The bad? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super crowded and unorganized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Inconsistent in product. I also witnessed a worker dropping a sticky rice ball on the counter and she just scooped it up and put it on someone's order. Questionable what else would be done? Suggestion: properly update IG page

Food I tried the mango sticky rice and it was delicious. I wish I went with vanilla ice cream but the mango ice cream was still good. The rice was soft and it was well crafted. Wish they would keep this on the menu longer but I can't wait for it to come back. Note that my fiancé stole it from me so I only had a few bites but it goes to show it impressed her.. Service It was pretty busy and packed. Thankfully, it was quick to order but it did take awhile to get my order. Ambiance [[HIGHLIGHT]]I don't like their set up as it makes for a tight space and I couldn't figure out where the line was because people were everywhere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Try to avoid it during busy times if you like breathing space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Love the matcha drinks and soft serve here. The soft serve has so much flavor without being too sweet. The cones are nice and crunchy, adding a good flavor to the soft serve. They have take home pints of the ice cream too. The matcha and ube flavors are my favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They can get pretty busy on weekends and late nights, so I usually grab it to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You can scan their QR code and order too instead of waiting in the line to order.

Matcha Latte with Ube Soft Serve
    Jina P.

Upon entering, this is one busy spot. They have seating but since it is a bit crowded and small it can get quite loud. So we took it to go instead. My matcha latte with Ube soft serve was absolutely delightful. It is a bit on the pricier end but for the quality you are getting, I highly recommend!

    Ube and Banana swirl.
    Nicole P.

I really enjoyed the matcha ice cream here! Swirl with vanilla gave me just enough matcha flavor without being too overpowering. The cone gave it just enough sweetness. I also tried banana ube swirl and that may have been too sweet. Shoutout to the cashier for recommending banana, I would never have tried it otherwise! This cafe is very cozy, with cute low lighting and minimal seating, so if you have a crowd of people maybe order to-go. I reduced the rating to four stars because there were some rowdy customers in the section where you remove your shoes and that didn't help the ambience. If the cafe addressed the issue, it would have been 5. This place is very much a low key date place and it would have set the mood better if they had asked those people to leave.

Fast counter service. Great way to cool down on a hot day and get a shot of green tea rich in polyphenols and catechins, including EGC.

I do not feel as though downtown Duluth truly captures the amazing food scene of the city, but again, an old friend did like it enough to tell me about it. Inside was pretty spacious. High ceilings and bright. You have to go up front and order, and they'll give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. Pretty standard so far. It's not too loud, even with the music playing in the background, so not bad for hanging out with friends after the food is done, though we didn't. We were all pretty disappointed with our food. It wasn't bad, thankfully, it was just meh. We could've literally drove 5 minutes away for better, so we left as soon as we finished. The good thing is you get to choose what protein you want with your dish, which is nice. However, the chicken katsu here is thin. Also, the K-Fried chicken doesn't really mesh with the pasta. It's like a skewer on the side of your main dish. You can eat them separately and be happy enough. I was ok with the bulgogi, but I would've expected better from a Korean establishment. I haven't tried every single protein option, but I won't lie, tofu in pasta isn't the most appealing to me. For the main dishes, it was pretty bland, especially the omurice. You need the egg and the protein for flavor. The Schezwan pasta wasn't even spicy. At least the carbonara was creamy as it should be.

Good to share with friends, though it can get a bit messy to eat. I also tried a drink here, the lychee genmaicha, and it was nice. Lots of drink options in Duluth, but since I was already here, I thought that I might as well get a drink and see if it's any good. Now I'm curious about their food. They have a breakfast/lunch/brunch menu with SAVORY pancakes. I'd love to try them some time or even one of their croffles, which they can make savory or sweet as well. That being said, I've only ever been here at night after dinner. Not very busy, so there's always a table available and not much of a line. Maybe it's time for me to have some breakfast for dinner.

The Second Level / Upper Floor is reserved for if you are going to be ordering/dining in for the pastas and/or savory foods. I only tried their coffee today on the first level. I did go upstairs to check it out and did see a bunch of people upstairs just sitting and chilling on their laptops with their coffees/drinks; so they may not really enforce their "reserved for pasta dining only" rule. Not sure. Ambiance (First Level / First Floor) - clean, nice, laid-back, chill, cool environment. Casual setting. Cool architecture, design, layout, and decor. Can get loud inside as ceilings are high and can get echo-y, especially if there are alot of people. Also, there is music constantly playing in background. Service (First Level / First Floor) - customer service was quick and straightforward. They were nice and polite. A+. No complaints here. Coffee (First Level / First Floor) - tried their "Korean Iced Coffee" for $7.25. It was one size only and one price at $7.25. It was delicious. Almost similar tasting to a Vietnamese coffee in my opinion (both are delicious). That strong, brewed coffee flavor with this delicious milky, sweetened condensed milk taste. I am not exactly sure if they used sweetened condensed milk in the Korean iced coffee, but it sure does taste similar to it. It's quite good. Also had a "Large Hazelnut Hot Coffee" with creamer for $5.95. It was okay. Total with tax for the two drinks was $13.99. Keep in mind that the WiFi is on your receipt as a QR Code at the bottom. So if you want to use the WiFi, ask for the receipt and/or keep the receipt so that you can scan the QR Code in order to use the WiFi. There was no password on the receipt, only a QR Code that you need to scan. Overall - Yes I would recommend this place for a nice little coffee stop. Check it out for yourself. Enjoy!
