We reached out to MAT movers along with a few other companies to schedule two moves within a week - one local city apartment move-out and one longer distance single family home move-out (about 100 miles). MAT responded right away after our initial request, and they were able to provide details and initial estimates during our first call. Each time we reached out with more details and to begin scheduling, they promptly responded. Both moves went very smoothly, the team arrived right on time, was very polite and worked efficiently, and took great care to ensure nothing got damaged. They did a great job with disassembly and re-assembly as needed. It was reassuring to see the same team come again for our second move since we had such a good experience the first time, and again they did a great job with the long distance move and managing to fit in all the furniture, even large pieces that had to fit through tight doorways and narrow stairwell corners. The second move was during a heavy rainstorm, so they took extra care to cover everything so it wouldn't get damaged. We highly recommend them and will use them again for future moves! read more

I would give them a higher rating if not for their customer service. Booking with Mr. Petrenko was a professional process and easy. The moving team arrived on-time. Big plus! They took care with my piano, wrapping it in blankets and then shrink wrapping it. Although, they did not shrink wrap my two sofas. They scrapped the walls of my new address moving the piano and a sofa upstairs. Then, scrapped the wall again when placing a dresser. I was able to wipe the black marks off the walls with a Clorox wipe. The lead mover went over charges with me upon arrival. Same figures as I was quoted by Michael Petrenko via email. My only surprise was that they charge for both tape and shrink wrap. Fortunately, I already had both on hand. Regarding customer service...the lead mover was sullen and not friendly. A couple times, he actually ignored me when I asked a question, instead responding by talking to the other two movers in Russian. All three movers spoke Russian. One of the movers just kept staring at me, never said hello, just stared. When the movers started unloading at my new address, the sullen behavior was so bad, I asked the lead mover outright, "Is everything okay? You seem upset." He just looked at me and did not respond. Maybe they thought I was not going to pay. Not sure. All I know is that the sullen attitude changed after I paid in full and gave a tip. The lead mover suddenly became more pleasant and said his "Please think of us for your future moving needs..." speech. Too little, too late. The tip I gave was much smaller than I had planned because of their sullen attitudes. Not good customer service at all. I used JK Movers the previous week (lots to move). They were prompt, friendly and worked fast. After loading the truck, the M.A.T. Movers crew took a 10-minute smoking break! Not a good look when paying someone by the hour. Moving is stressful enough without having to deal with negative attitudes from the moving team. I will not use M.A.T, Movers again. read more

I was really impressed with this team. They moved me twice; once to a storage facility, where they very carefully assembled my boxes in order: books, art, and furniture. Everything is neatly stacked and accessible. They treated my artwork and boxes with care, and were very polite and courteous to me. As a result, I hired them a second time to move me to New York City. This move was more difficult as I had downsized from a two-bedroom house to a small one-bedroom apartment. They arrived on time and were ready to greet me in NYC. They took their time and put all the boxes in the right rooms, so I didn't have to search endlessly for my belongings. MAT Movers helped me move across the country during a pandemic. Communication was easy and straight to the point. They showed up on time for my 7am-9am slot and had everything moved into the truck and ready to go by 9 am. They were very accommodating with social distancing and wearing masks--they even helped me pack my car with some things I wanted to take with me. We drove across 4 states/8 hours and they got everything moved in for me. Very appreciative has I felt safe and taken care of. I did have one of my picture frames break but they weren't packed away like the other things. The pricing was on par with other quotes I received. What made me choose them was because they gave me a fair flat rate-- no caveats about weight or time. Given that this was already a stressful move, I appreciated that. Would recommend them.
