They made quick work out of our two bed apartment. The three men worked so well as a team and perfectly organized the truck to fit everything in a single trip. They also worked through the rain. My only complaint is that they got my mattress cover dirty but I probably should've mentioned that it was a permanent cover that needed to be kept clean. Where to begin? First off, there is no written contract prior to moving--first major red flag. Second, the movers showed up early and didn't notify me or called; I had to call the owner in order to figure out where they were when I did expect them. The foreman seemed like he knew what he was doing but the crew he brought was a mixed bag of incompetency and laziness. The total move took much longer than expected, partly because of the lack of proficiency, planning, and coordination. On top of this, they managed to damage a wall--the owner initially wanted me to cover the cost, eventually it was straightened out; they damaged several pieces of furniture during the process. I cannot recommend and do not see how it's possible that people have consistently given this company 5-stars. It's better to pay a reputable moving company that has competent workers and an actual written contract in order or negotiate costs before the move. read more

I was very impressed by these guys (3 man crew). They were reasonably priced, fast, and careful with my property. I don't think you can ask for more from a local moving company or any moving company for that matter. I liked that when I called to ask questions regarding quotes, estimated times and dates, I wasn't rushed off the phone or pressured to use their services. As promised I was given a written estimate prior to me signing a contract so I wouldn't have any surprises come moving day, and I was extremely pleased that the estimate was the exact cost of my move. James and his crew arrived 10 minutes prior to our scheduled move time of 8:30 a.m, which was a plus for me because I was under extreme time constraints that Saturday, and was ready to get the my busy day going. The most exceptional part of my move! We got 18 inches of snow and sleet two days before we moved. We then got another two inches the morning of our move. James Snowden and his crew were nothing but fast and professional! They arrived with blankets and supplies and immediately went to work. They were quick to adapt when things didn't go as planned, such as other moving trucks getting in the way of the loading dock. Extremely reasonably priced too. They like to say "you get what you pay for" but I really think if you choose John Snowden and his team, you get more value for your dollar. The movers themselves were great, I think they did a good job getting everything out of my place and into the new spot in a decent amount of time (about 2 hours to move things out and 1 1/2 hours to move things in...I had over 45 boxes plus furniture). There were only a couple of boxes that were placed in the wrong room, but nothing major. It started to rain, and some of my seat cushions were not covered when they brought them in...but it seemed like they tried to hurry up and get inside when they carried them. All in all the three gentlemen that showed up were professional, respectful, and did not waste time from what I saw. The only issue I had was in the communication. I set up the appointment and there was a confirmation. But I felt I had to wait too long to get a contract (a little over 5 days), since it seemed like a form letter. And then a few days before I did not get a confirmation about them showing up....admittedly that was more so for my own piece of mind...as I had told my leasing office I was leaving that day, but not hearing from the company I got a little anxious...so a note from them reconfirming would have been great. They did reconfirm, but that was after I sent a message. But overall I had a good experience with this company, and I'm sure I'd use them again on my next move. read more

I'm so happy I decided to look up Yelp reviews, instead of just going with a Google search. My initial search through Google and Craigslist gave me the extremes of high price movers to low-end almost too cheap to believe or trust prices. Checking Yelp, I found Mr. Snowden's company. With such great reviews, I gave him a call. He is friendly, polite, and VERY reasonable. Through phone and email, we set up the date of service (which was on a Sunday, as well). They showed up ON TIME and were very friendly and courteous. James and his 2 movers, Bobby & Sean (or is it Shawn? Shaun?) went to work right away. James left after 30 mins, but I only had a 1 bdrm apt to move. Bobby and Sean were more than able to take care of the task. They used blankets and plastic wrap on my furniture. I never once saw or heard items/boxes being dropped or brutalized. They were efficient and timely. I never saw them stop for breaks or on their phones. We needed a moving company on short notice for New Years eve. We were referred to James Snowden by a friend that had used his company a few months earlier and was happy with the move. He was very quick in responding to our emails and was able to estimate the time needed for the move from the email with a list of our stuff. He estimated from 4-5 hours with a truck included, but it only took him and his crew 4 hours. James and his crew were very friendly and most importantly, careful with our furniture and the walls. My wife was very concerned about damage to walls from previous furniture delivery men. James and his crew were very careful and avoided damaging anything. They brought all the furniture pads and covers and did not charge us anything extra. They were very courteous and removed their shoes prior to moving the furniture into the new place. We are Asian after all. They also made a stop at our storage unit to drop off a table with no problems. The only thing I thought was weird was that because of the short notice for the move, we had to pay in cash. It was lucky that we had enough cash on hand for the move. It did take him a few days to email us the invoice after, but I figured that was because it was over the weekend and he was busy with more moves. This company did accept my move at the last minute, so including this as a caveat. The person I spoke with did advise that the mover would remove TV's from the wall, that changed on move day. The movers also showed up with a truck that would be used to moved a studio apartment or a 1BR and not a 3BR condo. Some of the movers did go above and beyond to help me move and were understanding and extremely helpful. My recommendation would be for the owner to provide more support, communication and training for the movers. read more

Well... I'm sad to say that I once reviewed JSIII movers with a 5 star and now I'm down to a 1. I have used JSIII movers 3 times now and the first 2 were stellar when James (the owner) was a part of the moving crew. But now that his business has grown, as it should, and he has to trust others to do the work, I will never use them again. I moved in October and a few days after my move noticed that an electric heating register was not left behind as indicated and it was not moved to my new house either. This register belonged to my landlord and I had asked the gentlemen to not move it. When I went back to my apartment the next day to finish cleaning, the radiator was not there. Additionally, the gentlemen that moved me had left behind several moving blankets that I wanted to return. I reached out to JSIII immediately to get this resolved and received a call promptly from James. I missed the call but called back immediately. I have left several messages since then with no return call. This weekend I emailed Maria, the woman that helped schedule my move, asking for help. Today (12/10/18) I received a call from James. James is a super nice guy but his response was completely unsatisfying. Long story short, he was happy to come pick up his blankets but said "he's between a rock and a hard place" because his guys are saying they didn't have anything else on the truck. In all honesty, I don't think there was any foul play. I think the register was moved on accident, and was left on the truck on accident. But it's been so long since the move of course no one remembers this! So I had to pay my landlord for the missing register that JSIII did not respond to in a timely manner, but yet they want their blankets back. Mind you.... I'm the one that reached out to tell they they left the blankets and I wanted to return them. Bottom line... I'm out an additional $150 because they made a choice not to respond in a timely manner. James says he didn't get my messages but I have phone records to prove I called. I told James I was keeping the blankets since they lost my property and would never be using them again; told him I was writing this review; and hung up. After 3 moves and never reporting an issue, they can't even offer to cover 50% of my loss? They have insurance... that's what it's used for! While James and his entire crew is kind and , this service was not acceptable (especially for a return customer that has also referred his services). JSIII movers did a local move (less than 5 miles) from one single family to another one. They arrived within the the window and called ahead. They were extremely professional and careful moving my belongings. Additionally their moving estimate was if anything a little higher than what I actually paid. So they are very precise in their estimates. They were very good about disassembling some complicated Ikea furniture and reassembling it at the new house as well. I could not be happier with the quality of their work. The owner of the company, James Snowden, personally scheduled my move. He was polite, thorough, and his pricing is easy to understand. Both Mr. Snowden and Maria (their wonderful office manager!) kept in constant communication with me and made me feel like I was their most important customer. I also appreciated that everything - from signing the moving contract to making payment at the end of the move - was handled electronically. I didn't have to deal with any paper contracts or spend time trying to find where I packed away my checkbook. That was a great relief! On the day of the move, Maria let me know when the truck would arrive. Mr. Snowden, along with his two amazing employees, Malik and DeWayne, arrived right on time and ready to begin work. The three of them worked non-stop until my whole house was safely locked away in their extremely clean and shining truck. The guys were exceptionally careful with my items - wrapping anything fragile in padded blankets and securing loose items with what looked like industrial-strength Saran Wrap (very cool!). Each of the workers was dressed conservatively in JSIII Moving Services uniform shirts, and when they arrived, Mr. Snowden came right over and introduced himself, as well as Malik and DeWayne. We only were moving down the street (same ZIP Code), but they were very professional and the service was great. The crew were all very polite and seemed pretty careful with our stuff. I like that they send 4 movers, whereas most places seem to only send 3. We packed up ourselves, but they wrapped the furniture in pads and taped it down. I thought they were especially nice to take a bookcase to the dumpster around the corner for us, even though it was our mistake (we meant to ditch it BEFORE the move!). James knows what he's doing and the move seemed to go better than I would have expected. They had 5 star reviews on Yelp so I did not have to think twice- I scheduled for Saturday morning. Come Saturday, I waited.. (alas, they might have forgotten me!) I called, and Mr. Snowden answered. They were careful and wrapped all the furniture (this was included in the cost- wrapping materials, etc. They charge by the hour depending on the number of people per customer's preference plus truck fee) They were quick. Moved 6 rooms worth of furniture (including disassembling, loading, unloading, driving to the 2nd location and putting them back together) in about 4 hours. Best moving service! We had to find a mover within a week because we weren't sure about the moving date. Contacted various movers and James was the only one came to do a free on-site estimate (and it turned out to be almost right on! 6.5 hours vs original estimate of 6 hours...while others quoted 2-3 hours on the phone). He arrived with the crew early in the morning and worked non stop. They carefully wrapped the furnitures and disassemble oversize items professionally. My move was pretty sudden and I was frantically looking for a moving company that wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg to move at the last minute. My coworker recommended James (not John as stated in a previous review) Snowden Moving Services and said she used them on her last move. I was pretty skeptical about using a company I had never heard of but figured I might as well call and see if they were available. James came to my house that same day for a free estimate. I had a huge pile of junk (to go to the dump) and the rest of a three bedroom house to move into a two bedroom condo (on the 10th floor with a pain in the a$$ elevator to deal with). I was definitely worried about getting the truck through to the back of the condo and getting everything inside but James told me that he would not only get me moved, but he would also take the truck load of junk to the dump for me. James and his crew (two other guys) showed up (15 minutes early) on the morning of the move and quickly got started. They wrapped ALL of my furniture, tv's, anything with glass and anything that could easily be broken. The three man crew had the whole house moved out and into the truck in under an hour. James packed the truck so that the furniture and such that was going to my new place would be the first off and the junk would be left for him to dispose of (I mention this because doing it that way, we only had to make one trip). They had the truck unpacked and the condo loaded with everything in less than 40 minutes and offered to set things up for me (ie position the furniture and set up the bed frame) In any move, things get broken, scratched or damaged is some way (which I was prepared for). This particular move had no such issue. The move was quick and efficient but no broken, cracked, or scratched furniture, tv's or walls. I was very impressed at how well they guys worked together and the experience over all, along with the very reasonable price he charged for the move and junk hauling.
