my first time needing a baby grand moved! Van and his team were quickly responsive to my quote request. the price was great! and the work was outstanding! they arrived, packed, moved, unloaded and and set it up with lightning speed. I highly recommend Lewis Piano!!

Moving our very old very heavy player piano.

Lewis Piano Movers moved a very heavy Player Piano out, Spinet Player Piano and 7ft couch in. They were responsive, professional, and the price was right on. I highly recommend using Lewis Piano Movers.

The moving service was good. However they charged me $120 on the plate you put in between piano and hardwood floor. Also they didn't tell me the price until after they put it underneath. I later bought it online for $25 and wanted to return the plate but they refused. Please prepare the plate in advance to avoid the rip off.

No complaints here. Good communication throughout and quick response time. I set up my appointment and within a week, my upright piano was transported safely from my parents house to mine. Very reasonable price. The movers were friendly and did their job quickly and efficiently. They were in and out in less than 10 minutes.

Piano is safe in the truck.

From what I read online, most piano dealers will quote an MSRP or "SMP (suggested maximum price)" with the expectation that you will haggle down the price. We went to our local Yamaha dealer [not Downtown Piano Works] and met with a sales associate recommended by our piano teacher. His first offer was already less than MSRP: I'm terrible at haggling, but I figured I'd try anyway and ask for a better price. A day later, he came back with another $500 off the price. I was feeling pretty good about myself and was getting ready to go to the store before his "offer expired." On a whim, minutes before I left, I thought I'd try the next closest Yamaha dealer, which happened to be Downtown Piano Works. I typed a chat message into their website, expecting a canned AI answer. Instead, Dan, the owner, responded right away. He told me to call him on his cell phone, and without hearing the other store's "lowest" price, he quoted a price that was $1500 less. There was no haggling, no wondering if I was getting a worse deal than everyone else on the internet. We drove with the kids an hour to Frederick just to make sure this wasn't too good to be true, and it wasn't. Dan and Theresa opened their store on a Saturday night, three hours after I'd first messaged their website. By the time we left, we were the owners of a new Yamaha U1. If you're in the market for a new Yamaha acoustic piano, within driving distance of Frederick, and want to avoid the usual stress of new piano shopping, I'd definitely try clicking chat on their website.

Anyway, I had to cancel the order a few days later. Refunded me immediately. Honest and trustworthy owners! Thanks and sorry it didn't work out. Great music store!

Randy's work was marvelous; one must look carefully to see any trace of the previous damage. Additionally, his prices were very, very reasonable given the quality of the work. I will be bringing him instruments in the future for normal maintenance as well as any emergencies. Highly recommended.

I heard great things about Randy on the noteworthy Sax on the Web board, and tried him out with my near-junker alto. He spotted a couple pad leaks, regulated some wonky keys and generally made it sound better than I had ever heard it sound. Then he took on the acid test: An overhaul of my 60-year-old Keilwerth stencil bari, an absolute screamer pro horn. Full repad, tone-hole leveling, general tightening of the mechanicals. But what really blew me away was his attention to detail: "Yeah, this one rod was a little worn after all those years ... so I took it off, moved it a couple millimeters and re-soldered it." Oh, and he was apologetic that he delivered it a day or two late ... because Navy and Marine band players came in with emergency repairs. When the pros-of-pros are coming to your tech, you know you're found a good tech. My horns certainly agree.
