I'm very happy to have found Thompson Tuning. I have a 98-year-old Chickering Grand piano that,…read moredue to it's age, has some tuning challenges. After 2 previous tuners (the first wouldn't touch it, the second did a good job but said it could never be tuned again), I thought I'd give it one more shot and scheduled an inspection by William. He's great at communication both before the appointment and throughout in terms of arrival time, reminders, etc. That's a huge plus for me as I run my own business and don't have time to "chase" people who are schedule to provide a service. Besides being a very nice guy and easy to talk to, he's great at explaining what's going on, what he's doing, what he sees and what his opinion is with regards to the work needing to be done. The end result of the assessment, is that yes, in fact, the piano can be tuned and there's steps that can be taken to start off minimally and work it up from there. I'm extremely happy to have found Thompson Tuning and while we haven't had an actual tuning and repair work done yet, we are scheduled to do that in May and I'm very excited to have him bring this beautiful old instrument back to life!

Believe the care given and attention to climate control throughout the year in this house kept the piano in tune. William and I spoke of the concerns and issues with an 84 year old instrument and asked a variety of questions as to touch, key response, etc. After further discussion we decided to use this time to address those issues. His attention to detail, willingness to answer all questions, and good work made a noticeable improvement in key response/touch. I couldn't be happier with this young man's good work.

After five years of delayed maintenance, we weren't sure what to expect, but Eddie provided a very honest assessment with absolutely no pressure. He made sure his services aligned perfectly with our specific needs and expectations. Eddie is the definition of professional. In addition to the restoration, he installed a humidifier system to ensure the piano is preserved for the long term. If you are looking for someone knowledgeable, trustworthy, and skilled, I cannot recommend Eddie and Paiks Piano enough!

I only gave them the notice two days ahead and they did squeeze me into their busy schedule. How nice! Compared to other movers, they charge you very reasonable price for it. Call and ask for quote with a clear price break-down, they will give you a very satisfactory service. I cannot speak directly to scheduling and quotes as this was coordinated directly with the organization that I purchased my pianos from. However, I can say that Steve (the owner of the moving company) and his crew were on-time, courteous, careful and efficient. In this most recent transaction I had a 7' grand piano delivered and a 6' 3" piano removed. They have all the right equipment and knowledge of proper setup. Of course these instruments are too heavy for a homeowner to move once the casters have been set on their cups (to protect the floor), so the crew made sure that I was happy with the placement before they departed. If you choose to use their services, I hope you have as good of an experience as I have had both times.

Unfortunately, they couldn't find a date that worked with our moving schedule, so we had to scramble. Steve with Empire called me back immediately, fit us into his schedule on the original move date, and did it for the same price as the first company had quoted. He completely saved the day. On the day of the move, three guys came, and I could tell by the way they handled the instrument that they had a lot of experience. It's always nerve-wracking watching a piano get moved, especially if there are steps or other challenges. But they were awesome. If we ever have to move a piano again, Empire will be my first call.
