Okay, how often do you get a chance to check moonshine bars out! Definitely do it! The sampler kicked 4 people's butts. We did coconut, that was alright. Peach that personally I hated.... apple pie which was delicious and caramel something, that was good also . Met a friend here and had a great time. Server was attentive *at first*. Ordered drinks then food. Then that was pretty much the last we saw of him for the most part. Pizza was *EXCELLENT*. Drinks were good. Waited and waited...and waited for server to come back, never came. Had to grab our own utensils off of another table. Server finally came by to ask for another drink order. I was half finished with mine, and asked him to wait. A few moments later another server came with another set of drinks for us...that I never ordered. Did pay for them though. Update: the manager was nice enough to come sit and talk to us and explained a little more about the Eggplosion is a little different than what we thought but we understand it better now. We just finished eating here. It's a Thursday at 2pm, so not very many people here. Our waiter forgot to put our drink order in so we sat here until our food arrived and had to ask him for them. We ordered The Bird which came with no avocado as was supposed to. My girlfriend ordered the Tater Eggplosion and we have no idea what the dish was they brought her. It didn't even have eggs in it and was covered in some sort of liquid, possibly gravy but no eggs or potatoes to be found. It was also covered in some weird bread topping. She couldn't even eat it. All in all it was not a good experience at all. Also the bathrooms have toilet paper rolls just out not on the rolls and they just have napkins on the sink counter. Bleh read more

Was in town for work. Good Yelp reviews and being nearby brought me to Mash'd. I was tired, so I just wanted to grab takeout, so I placed my order for wings and the meatloaf. While I waited for the food, I grabbed a beer at the bar. The wings were solid, I got 4 sriracha/garlic and 4 hot. Better than average for sure. I also got the meatloaf on the recommendation of the hostess. It was really good. However, I think I'm just the type of person who will never be blown away by meatloaf. Super tasty, don't get me wrong, but not blown away (I think it's a meatloaf thing- not THAT meatoaf...just meatloaf - I don't it can be done in a 5 star way). I also had an IPA at the bar- it was tasty, but I think everyone makes a good IPA these days. So all in all- I really enjoy the food and drink...so much so, I doubled down and came back in the following day. Got the wings again...and again they were good. But on second night I went with the ribs. They ribs were fantastic. Wish I got them on the previous night. Overall, as an out-of-towner, I was very happy I came here...twice! read more

My very first trip here was a brunch extravaganza with some coworkers. (What do you even call a gathering of millennials? A gaggle of millennials? A pile? Small, intimate gathering? I digress...) Between five people, we ordered two dishes. We didn't say we were imaginative. Perhaps the best thing about Mash'D were the $2 mimosas, and the variety of flavors they came in. I loved, loved, loved the blood orange mimosa! The coffee was also piping hot and fresh, and they kept our cups adequately refilled. I forgot what the remaining three people in my party ordered, but my friend and I both got the eggs benedict over some homemade biscuits. It was kind of a cross between eggs benedict and biscuits and gravy. It was heavy and hearty, and was served with a side of perfectly seasoned potatoes. Major props to Mash'd for not being stingy with those biscuits, either. They easily could have split one biscuit and place a poached egg on each half, but they gave us two biscuits each. I'm quite upset! Every time I come to this establishment there is an issue. I just ordered the StirFry Rebellion and the waiter informed me they don't have the item available. Why is it on the menu if it is not available to order? This place really needs to get it together. Sadly this is not the first time this has happened. Management here really needs to get it together. My reply to the business owners comment is this: Simple communication upon seating my table would have been the solution before there was ever a problem. If we were told that this item wasn't available initially there would have not been an issue. Yes you tried to rectify the issue by taking care of my meal, it was appreciated but still reactive and not a proactive gesture. Proactive communication just makes for better customer service period. read more

A lot of the food at Mash'd looks unhealthy, but my meal actually contained a lot of fresh ingredients. On business, I sat at the bar and asked the bartender if he had any non-alcoholic drinks. He made a fantastic watermelon lemonade, with (at least) fresh watermelon. I'm not sure if the lemon was fresh, but the drink was fantastic regardless. For my meal, I ordered the avocado bomb. It's essentially an avocado-heavy salad. It was delicious! It had roasted corn as well as a refreshing citrus vinaigrette. I ordered the half portion, which was exactly the right portion for me. I wasn't starving, so if I'd been hungrier I probably would've ordered the half portion with chicken or fish on top. If I have the chance again, I'd love to come back to try the cocktails. They really seem to care about their ingredients here. read more

I decided to give this place a second chance since my first time didn't go so great. (Whatever you do don't order the turkey burger and thank me later) I came here for a Brunch date with my best friend and at first I was a bit scared because my first time here was not good. She loves this place so I decided to try something different on the menu. I went with "The Chicken" sandwich tossed in buffalo sauce with a side of fries. Ok... WOW! It was amazing! I loved their fries with the home style ketchup. Delicious! As for drinks, they do serve a lot of moonshine (not my fave) so I stick with my traditional mojito which never fails. We sat outside to enjoy the nice weather but the only problem we had was the service. The host sat us down and we just sat there until someone finally realized we were waiting. On a weekend trip to San Antonio, I checked out Mash'D- The Rim with some friends for a late dinner on a Saturday. Mash'D is really, really cool on so many levels. It's an open-air bar/restaurant with a sweet patio. What they're known for, and it's a great thing to be known for, is moonshine. Yup. Moonshine, moonshine, and more moonshine. You can go the shot route but they have a lot of moonshine cocktails too. We tried a couple and they're cocktails as cocktails should be. They taste good and they pack a punch. For my meal, I had the Detroit-style pizza (go blue!) which is deep dish with pepperoni. The pepperoni was different than the norm. Rather than thin slices of pepperoni, this pepperoni was thick cut. Think of a cocktail weanie cut in two and that's about what you're dealing with. The pizza was served on a wooden cutting board so props for cool presentation too. Speaking of presentation, their menus look like newspapers. The back of the menu has zodiac info like you'd find in the paper. But they customize it by matching up some menu items with your zodiac. I walked in to smiling ladies and a wait time of only 20 minutes on a Friday night ...wow!!...then it ended up only being about half that. We were helped by a kind gentleman named Carlos. He was very helpful with recommendations, and I ended up with a jolly rancher (watermelon moonshine) and fried pepperoni. The pepperoni was heaven, but I could only eat half (this is not pizza rolls friends). The jolly rancher was sweet and tangy and seconds were in order.I was impressed they make their own moonshine and in such a wide variety (looks like I'm moving in!). Really good happy hour specials from 3-6 pm! The overall service was really good and they have outside seating with patio heaters. I got the mahi tacos and they were delicious! A good size portion and all the drinks were 50% off during happy hour so it was easy to want to eat there also. My friend got the chicken tacos and those were even better! Dinner--we came for dinner and found out happy hour was happening too! We ordered a couple drinks and had the crab and shrimp volcano and the queso dip both were delicious! Then we had the rebellious burger which was also good with thin cut fries! Brunch--$2 mimosas and $5bloody Mary's! Was super busy for brunch on a Saturday. Had to wait about 20 minutes which wasn't bad. We had bulgogi tacos which were tasty and then for brunch has eggs Benedict and eggspolosion. Both were ok, the eggs benedict didn't have ham which was kind of strange but the sauce was good and the eggspolosion just wasn't what we thought it'd be. My husband and I stumbled upon this place after playing top golf and we have some mixed opinions about it. First I asked the hosts as soon as we walked in what type of oil they used (I have food allergies) and everyone looked at me as if I was stupid. No one even offered to go ask. One female said "I think it's canola, but I don't know". We decided to just ask the server once we sat down and he was incredible. He answered any questions I had, was very knowledgeable when dealing with my allergies and even told me specific details on some of the food items I was interested in. We got the crushed devil to split- portion size was fair for the price. The eggs itself were pretty bland, I didn't taste any creamy Italian BUT once you added the tomato, onion, and the jalapeño relish stuff it was really good. The jalapeño/ onion relish that came with it was honestly so good, I asked for more for the toast and some for my burger. The rebellious burger was decent. It was juicy, the egg was cooked perfectly (runny) and the bacon was nice and crispy. I think my only complaint was that I couldn't taste any of the thousand island so that's why I ended up adding the jalapeños for flavor. My husbands "the unholy one" was INCREDIBLE though. It was crunchy on the outside but melted in your mouth like I feel like French toast should. The chicken was amazing, the jalapeño maple syrup had just a little bit of kick to it which I liked. Over all I would eat here again, I think I would just try the more unique items instead of the safer ones I got. My husband lucked out with his meal. I took my mom out to try MASH'D for the first time. I had been there before,but not for brunch. The Unholy One was a very delicious meal. It's a French toast fried chicken sandwich with cheese. It comes with potatoes as well. It's huge and flavorful. I took half the sandwich home and had it for dinner. The Southern egg fries was just okay. It's lacking that WOW factor. I highly recommend making a reservation. They are moving away from the moonshine. You will have to ask for a lost of the moonshine they still have available. This place serves up hearty home cooking type food. This last time I had the French toast and chicken, which was ridiculous. This may be the best French toast I have ever eaten. I was full, but couldn't stop eating because it was so good. The flavor and texture was perfect. My dining companion had a cheeseburger and said it was good. It was big and he had trouble finishing it. Previously I had the chicken and biscuits, which was delicious. That time my dining companion had a shrimp salad, but eyeballed my meal the whole time. I have not tried the cocktails here, but the bottles of moonshine around the restaurant sure look interesting. read more

There are plenty of places to park. There's usually a wait if you come in on Sunday afternoon. Mash'D has limited seating, but there's usually room to order if you sit at the bar. They have a small outdoor patio as well, which is nice. I had their frenchtoast, it was delicious and filling. The sliced strawberries paired well with the frenchtoast and syrup. Their prices are a little higher than average. I recommend coming here for Sunday or the weekend for Brunch. read more

This was my second visit to Mash'd, both for brunch. I like the brunch menu choices as they have a good variety of options. This time I ordered their version of Eggs Benedict which was really good! In addition to hollandaise sauce, they add a bed of queso and spinach which really makes the dish unique and flavorful but it is not overpowering. The roasted potatoes are well cooked and add a savory compliment to the eggs Benedict. I also tasted the French toast which is more like a dessert served with a cream cheese like spread. It was very flavorful but definitely need something to balance all the sweet flavor. I recommend the mimosas if you are there for brunch. They have choices of juice for the mimosas and the price point for the carafe is a great deal if someone is willing to share. I had the blood orange mimosa which was very flavorful but not too heavy or pulpy like some orange juice mimosas. Our service was good, I love that you can make reservations and the manager was out checking on tables which adds to the feeling of good service and attentiveness from the staff. read more

Update: So if you read my original review, it's very evident that I was not impressed during my first experience here. The owner/manager actually reached out to apologize and invite me to give them one more try. I meant to go back much sooner this year, but then good ol COVID hit. Finally made it back there for Sunday brunch a couple weekends ago. This experience was night and day from last time! The server was very attentive to our table despite how crazy busy it was. Also, I ordered the same dish as last time (K&Q omelette) and that came out much better this time. There was a modest amount of avocado and a good portion of potatoes that weren't undercooked. I'm glad I gave them a second chance because now I see why the place was voted the best brunch in SA. First time at Mash-D, during this COVID. Which by the way is not going to go away. As soon as we walked in there was an employee near the entrance taking temperature every customer walking in to the restaurant. That was a plus. Then the waitress was very patient attentive and helpful with describing the meals on the menu. Loved the service. Plus the waitress helped me with creating a keto meal. The cooks did mess up my partners order but it was corrected. They did not take long on bringing out the food to the table. I usually walk to the restroom and check out the rest of the place but did not this time. So I do not know if the restrooms were clean. All in all It was a nice experience.
