Very cool spot. Used to be highlanders. Still the same vibe and decor. Food a little different. Looked good. Tried a person's appetizer and it was good. The service was good. Can get loud in there but I like the draft options and just the chill atmosphere. Will be back for sure. Go check them out.

Ambience is still a great dive pub. Chill atmosphere with cool jukebox. Wings, fries, BLT were great and tasty. Bacon thick and smokey! Attentive friendly bartender. Putting bar in my rotation.

The bagel, pub and eatery was in route while running errands. It is slightly easy to mess but easy to find with directions. When you walk in you can definitely tell it has a bar vibe so I went outside to the patio to bask in the spring sun with breeze, beautiful day. I tried the English men sandwich made with ham. The sandwich comes with kettle chips and a sugar, cane product soda beverage. The owner did make mention that they are currently in a soft opening so they are slowly adding in more drinks to the menu. my boyfriend ordered the turkey club and we ended up swapping half our sandwiches to be able to try both turkey sandwich and ham sandwich. He didn't like avocado who doesn't like avocado lol. The Scottish eggs were new to me basically a boiled egg with breading on the outside in some hollandaise sauce very creamy delicious great bar food selection The spring time is a perfect time to come and check out this eatery most definitely. I hope that they implement a no smoking rule for families and people who enjoy the outdoors . Nonetheless this place is great !

What a cool place. Everyone was super friendly. Get the pretzel and beer cheese. So good! Tell Chipper hello. See us on YouTube at Coolest Life.

This is a great neighborhood bar with a British pub atmosphere in the medical center with awesome service, friendly staff and AMAZING food. My husband and I recently tried Medjool stuffed dates from the appetizer menu and they were to die for! Would have taken a before photo, but I think the scraped plate speaks for itself. They really knocked everything out of the park. Give them a try and support a new local business! P.S. to the review that said no one served them at their table, you do have to order for yourself at the bar

It's a bar with loud music, if they want to serve food, have it delivered from some other restaurant.

Three large pieces of perfectly beer battered fish with house made fries, a hefty portion to leave you full and happy. The lighting there isn't the best, so the pictures don't do it justice. They even have the traditional malt vinegar if you ask for it. It comes with homemade tartar sauce and some lemon wedges (I always ask for extra) Other great things we've tried include the sausage sandwich, the breakfast, the cottage pie, bangers and mash, curry and chips, Reuben egg rolls, and the steak! Yes, the steak! It was surprisingly good, but everything is good here. They even have HH specials on Fridays until 6. Fish and chips are buy 1 get one 1/2 off on Tuesdays. They also have live music - check their schedule. Parking is a bit awkward but we've never been unable to find any. Service is always great.

The curry french fries were okay ... not a huge fan of their curry sauce. The mule was very good as was the raspberry beer. The plates however were a different story. Every plate was cold .. not just not warm .. they were cold like sitting out on a counter for an hour cold. The food was bland .. they were out of items (potato pancakes) ... did not tell us .. and subbed without asking. The experience started well but ended poorly.

The food was not the best especially for the price. The drinks on other hand were amazing. My server Marah toke great care of me. Attentive, funny, and well knowledgeable. She helped me pick an outstanding bourbon due to having so many I couldn't decide. She's impeccable at her job didn't have to write anything down had multiple tables and was very efficient. Would come back for the drinks and her service. The food on other hand definitely could use some help.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

The place was located in a small plaza off the side of some main roads, and we gathered for a class team building event. By that I mean beer and burgers. The entrance beckons you to come on in, what with its neon sign and all. The walk up feels rustic, and the door makes it official: you're entering an awesome place. There's plenty of seating and every night has something else to offer. I enjoyed the breakfast burger which was delicious. I liked the quality of the bread and the contrast of a well-seasoned patty. The fried egg was prepared beautifully, and the yolk covered the fries waiting below on the tray. The place is military friendly in terms of the bill and our sever, Rebecca, was not only fast and friendly but very welcoming and knowledgeable. Some folks decided to try their hand at Karaoke and had the stage to themselves. I liked that the TVs also had the lyrics up so that you could sing along without having to turn to face the stage. All in all it was a great place to grab a bite and build rapport with colleagues.

We arrived at 12:45, and by 3:00 p.m. only about half of our group had received their food. While the servers themselves were polite and professional, this issue falls squarely on management and whoever approved the reservation knowing they could not reasonably accommodate it. To make matters worse, the food was overpriced and similar to food court food. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and I cannot recommend this restaurant. If I were the manager I would've comped the whole party. This is not a way to run a business!

They have a great selection of whisky's and usually make a really good black and tan. Today I sat at the bar, I was greeted right away and got a beer in 20 secs. I've had the fish and chips here which were good. Bangers and mash I've had and enjoyed, Shepard pie is pretty good. Today I went with the BBQ burger. Food came out in about 10 mins from placing my order. Not bad, not great. My rating on the bbq burger. They did not ask me how I wanted it prepared, it was pretty much well done. The bun was a little hard, almost stale. There was not much bbq sauce on the bbq burger. With all the toppings, I'd give the burger 5 of 10. The hard bread took away from it for sure. I always like to try just the patty without anything on it to see how restaurants prepare their patties. It was about what I expected for a well done burger. Not much flavor, it tasted like well cooked ground round. I'd give it a 3.5. The fries were so so, I like fries more on the crispy side. These were more like thick steak fries, soft and limp. They were seasoned with salt and pepper. Not bad, not great. The beer I had... had an odd smell. It tasted ok, but I think the glass itself may have not been the cleanest. Hoping I don't get sick from a dirty glass. The bartender was nice enough to let me try their frozen Irish coffee. It was surprisingly delicious, like a boozy ice cream. It just seemed like a full glass would be too much. So I got a black and tan, which was good. If I was eating just this visit, I'd probably be between a 2-3, food was meh, and the dirty glass didn't help. If I include all my other visits I'm at 3-4, since this most recent experience I had to say I'm closer to a 3 than a 4.

Morrissey hadn't graced San Antonio in over 10 years, with past cancellations and postponements haunting fans along the way. So when he finally returned, San Antonio Moz fans showed up and showed out. Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. Major credit to Phanie and the Bang Bang Bar management they rolled up their sleeves, brought in extra bar staff, and handled an overwhelming crowd like pros. Fans waited up to 45 minutes in the cold, with a line wrapping around the building, and the energy inside never dipped. As the host of Panic On The Streets, I'm incredibly thankful to Bang Bang Bar for helping us pull off one of the best after-parties we've done in years. Fittingly, 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of both Bang Bang Bar and Panic On The Streets of San Antonio and what a way to celebrate. Bang Bang Bar has long been one of my favorite bars in town, and after this night, that reputation is more than earned.
