They have a great staff, kind courteous and friendly, and their Andagi is crispy and a wonderful add to a nice plate lunch! For the weight conscious, you can substitute tossed vice macaroni Salad. They offer catering, Ige's. The restaurant is open for parties as well. Simple restaurant that is casual and cozy. Comfort local food that soothes your soul. Cafeteria style dining, for dining in the restaurant, me, we take out. They have different specials daily. My office likes to order oxtail soup. Hot and meaty, just right for cold weather, or just when you want a hearty soup. Flavor is a little bland but still good enough to come back for. I love their turkey ala King. So creamy, luscious, and meaty! Poured over hot rice. Oh Wow!!! It has peas and carrots and tons of turkey meat, it's winnazzz! Another dish I love is their hamburger steak. This is legit made from scratch. It's soft and not commercially manufactured. Comes with grilled onions, covered with gravy. Gravy tastes so good, I would say it's made from scratch? Poured over steaming hot rice. Soooo good! Roast pork, is another delicious meal. This is rich and flavorful, pork and gravy at its finest, over steaming hot rice. Curry burger stew is another comfort food delight, dish does not disappoint. Pork tofu, eh just ok. Flavor wasn't as great as other dishes. Chicken hekka, was hearty and chunky, but taste wise, just ok. Fried noodles, is flavorful! Very satisfying. I've eaten their catering many times over, famous for funeral catering. Food is very affordable, plates are generous. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. I have my favorite dishes, I haven't tried everything on their menu, but what I've tried so far, it's delicious. It's clean, and organized. Most times it's packed with hungry workers, another sign, their legit onolicious! It's hidden, in an industrial area, weird location,but it works. Having to stay home because of the Covid 19, I was finally able to go out. Had an appointment in Mapunapuna and thought of Masa's. Ordered the Pork Cutlet with rice and Mac. Meh, it was okay. I mean the cutlet was chewy and tough , MAC salad was really good and creamy but the rest was meh. I should have waited for the Lasagna. read more

We ordered the catering menu for 20 people which is the mininim order. Food is very good home cooking. The crispy chicken is cut in a unique way so the skin is sort of detached on 2 sides from the chicken so it is crispier. The shoyu pork is excellent. It's more like a cross between shoyu and char siu but it's not red. We added fried shrimp and the total was $193 which is $9.65/person and tons of food. Today is the second day in a row I've eaten here. I love the atmosphere. Very old school, comfortable like an old shoe feeling. The "Aunty's" that work there treat you like a daily customer. Today I asked he Aunty what she suggested I should eat. She said chicken hekka. For one I have never seen hekka on any menu, and two my grandfather always made hekka for me when I'd go home to Kauai. The hekka here would have to be extraordinary for me to even like it considering my grandpa made some of the best I've ever ate. I ordered it anyway because the ladies make you feel so comfortable you'll eat anything they put in front of you! My plate lunch was ready and I walked it out to my car. I swear I felt like I was carrying about 3 pounds of plate lunch! I opened it up and it was huge! The taste was superb. I actually felt like I was sitting in my grandpas kitchen eating a fresh batch of hekka he made me! Delicious flavor, crunchy vegetables. Mac salad was also simple yet very tasty. Interesting thing is they also pack you two slices of bread with butter! So old school and such a nice treat with lunch! When I left the lady told me...see you tomorrow with a smile. We like to come to the spot often when we have a large orders. The parking lot is not the greatest but we manage to find a spot every time we come here. We usually do a call in order and they have it for us ready within five minutes of showing up. The shoyu fried chicken is personally my favorite but they only have it as a special on Wednesdays so be sure to check them out on that day. The prices are very decent amount they give is a lot. I have a split shift in Kalihi now so I can now choose places to eat in town. Yesterday, I went to Fisher's Hawaii and right next to Fisher's was Masa' s Cafeteria. Masa' s has been here in Mapunapuna for a long time. They are owned by the well known Ige' s lunch wagon so their special menu varies day to day. Today one of their specials was pork and peas. I love pork guisantes so I had to get it. I decided to get a mini bc I was not too hungry, but after I got it, the mini was a lot of food. It was served with a good portion of rice and large scoop of pork and peas. What was interesting was that the plate came with 2 pieces of white bread. Over all the guisantes was ok. I still prefer 7-11's pork and peas. Masa's had a lot of whole pepper corns, which made it a bit spicy. Next time I might try their breaded chicken or hamburger steak. read more

I am over the moon over this place. It's soooo nostalgic for me - it's old and tired looking but I think it adds to the overall character for me, just like Tamura's Wahiawa reminds me of Chun Hoon Markets and other long gone stores! Their turkey ala king is to die for! I have not eaten this from grade school dayz in the 60s and it is as flavorful and delicious as I remember it. Chunks of turkey in a delicious cream sauce with peas and carrotd. I prefer mash potatoes with it and hooo broke da mouth good. I am eating my history and I got a mini to go so I may indulge again later this week. I got a small tray of their chow fun/min mix -- it was sooooo good too! Old style baby! These dayz all the damn noodles no more 'aji' (taste) fricking bland, but Masa's know how to make it just right. I think I can eat a whole whopping plate of it daily. I wish I could there every week but only on my twice a month town days. This sounds odd but I love bussing or slopping my own plate just like in school! That fun! I ate in so I had a real plate and a real fork to eat. Yay I am older but you young kids are missing the greatest eats that we had in the 60s and 70s (80s was meh). Real meat! Real veggies! No frozen patty they defrost or deep fry. Veal cutlet was fresh, pounded and deep fried. Now it's just frozen thrown in the deep fryer. I can live without Pacific Rim cuisine or asian fusion or whatevahs is in now - great food IMO is always IN regardless of the setting. This was my first time here. I came for a 1st birthday party and it was the perfect size for a family party like that! It's centrally located in Mapunapuna. The only down side would be having to find parking as most of it is at parking, but at least there's no metered stalls. Great food catered by Ige's (shoyu pork FTW!!) I know there's an option to have Hawaiian food catered too, which is about great options for your party. And bonus air conditioning :) There's a stage as well for those who would like to do some sort of entertainment like karaoke or a band. And the facility is very clean. read more

A co-worker and I decided to go out and eat lunch today since we were working on a project together. I suggested that we head over to Masa's cafeteria in mapunapuna as I have not eaten here in a while and I always enjoy the food there on past trips for lunch. My coworker said he never came here before so it was a great idea to try something new for his sake. As we went in, I did tell him that whatever you order, it will be a lot so be prepared. Sure enough, he ordered the pork cutlet plate and I have the corned beef and cabbage and pork cutlet mix. The plates must have been 7 lb each and although it was plentiful, it was also very tasty, mac salad was on point and the food itself is always great here. The quantity is something that you have to see to believe, and although the price may seem a little high, in all reality you could buy one plate and actually split it with two people and both people will be pretty satisfied. Wow on Friday's my wife and I like going to masa's cafeteria, actually any day is good when you in the area. First we ordered grilled cheese 2xs and a pork tofu with mustard cabbage for later. We ate the sandwiches and the added pickles. Which are always crunchy and sweet. Later in the afternoon when we open the tofu plate we were impressed by the neatness and portion actually given, no short on taste and if you love tofu well this ones are lightly fried on the outside and firm to the bite. Pork size was very well cut not in strip but bite size blocks. Their salad always creamy and fresh. Well now I'm in Kanak mode if you know what I mean. Alvin and the gang thank you. When I want the standard big, local plate lunch; I come here. There's absolutely nothing healthy about this place and I love it like that. Hehe. 2 scoops rice, 1 extra mayonnaise-y Mac salad, a meaty entree usually doused in some sort of thick gravy or sauce, 2 slices of white buttered bread and a feeling of pure gluttony after you're done. They literally have every single local plate lunch item you can think of. My personal fave is the sweet and sour spare ribs (a Friday special). I know the Friday Hawaiian plate is also popular. If you dine in, you're served cafeteria style (hence the name) and you feel like you're back in grade school again...except this time your classmates are all the industrial and construction workers in the vicinity. When I first walked in and saw all the neon yellow and orange shirts, I knew the food was gonna be good and good, it definitely was. You can also do the takeout /pick up window cus the place has limited parking. Quick and easy. The workers are friendly, the portions are huge, the food is tasty and super flavorful, options are unlimited, and the price is right. This is one of my fave lunch options near the airport area. Had the corned beef and cabage special, which is every wednesday. Was really tasty, although it had a lot of fatty pieces. I suppose that could be normal, and a lot of people like that....not us!! *Here for a party* The look of the facility from the outside... Not appealing. Just looks like a warehouse, which it probably was until it was converted. Parking is on the left side of the building (if you are facing it), other than that, if the lot happens to be full, there's street parking. Inside, looks like any other party. Seems like it could fit a lot of guests. Also with a lot of people, not much room to walk through and it took a while before we were in line and getting our food. The graduation party I attended here served Japanese food and the food was down right horrible! Last night we had a graduation party(for my nephew) and opted for the hawaiian food hoping it was better which it was? Better meaning at least the food was edible. The kalua pig was over cooked, dry, and bland, chicken long rice was very bland, squid luau was actually a hit, mahi mahi was pretty good, sweet potato was ok. I guess my biggest gripe is if you're paying $25 per head every thing should be cooked to perfection! Enjoyed the pork nishime special with rice and fresh tossed salad with thousand island dressing. Plenty of konyaku and konbu in the serving, which I love. It was a little sweet for my taste, but otherwise spot on nishime with fat free pork, carrots, bamboo shoots, konyaku, konbu, and a little bit of black mushrooms, another favorite of mine! If your mother was operating a cafeteria, this would be the place. TIP - Do not go there after 1PM. They close at 1:30 so the food warmers are turned off shortly after the lunch rush. read more

First time here and definitely the last! This review is based on the service since the items I wanted wasn't available. Very disappointing!!! I walked in, wanting to do a take-out order, then saw the sign that take-out orders are taken at the window outside. I went back outside to wait...and wait...and wait. As I was waiting at the window, one of the ladies had put a cover back onto was looked like a soda fountain, then proceeded to take toast out of the toaster and wrap it up for a take-out order WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS!!! GROSS!! While I was waiting outside, 2 other ladies behind the window looked at me and walked right past me with no acknowledgement. So, I went back inside and the gentleman in front of me was kind enough to let me order first because of all the ladies behind the counter, HE saw me waiting at the window! After I placed my order, the rude lady behind the counter (the one that didn't wash her hands before handling toast) said it won't be ready until after 10:30! They have a bunch if stuff already made by the morning-beef stew, curry, and a few others but you order off the menu and it is pretty much made to order. There is a window outside and if you dine in there's a cafeteria line you stand in to order ending at the cash register! They also cater and you can reserve the whole place for private parties. So ive been slacking with my reviews but Masa's is worth me coming back. If youve seen any of the photos Ive uploaded from here, youd know that they have the best pancakes of all time. Seriously best ever. Best on Oahu guaranteed. They are so soft and tender. Plus they are served with a huge glob of butter. This is some serious stuff. Other than pancakes, Ive tried their Denver omelette which is pretty large and comes with the side starch of your choice. Id recommend the huge portion of hash browns or the delicious fried rice. Ive also had the hamburger and cheeseburger deluxe. Both are very tasty and if you get a side of fries with that, its a lot of food. Got the fish plate a couple times. Also very enjoyable. Fish comes out steaming hot and you can help yourself to the tartar sauce. Sweet Bread french toast is always a winner. The hamburger steak was pretty good. There is seriously nothing that Ive had from here that wasnt good. It goes from good to great. I really like the setting too. Theres a reason is called a cafeteria. Its set up cafeteria style. Theres a bunch of big tables set up, so after you order your food, have a seat anywhere and your food will be brought out. It has a real nice old school Hawaii feel which isnt available at a lot of places these days. Thanks to my co-worker, we pretty much go here for breakfast everyday we work on the westside. My diet is not standing a chance. If youre ever in the Mapunapuna area, you should definitely check these guys out. Hmmm...cannot beat the price these days. They are generous with their mini plates. However, you get what you pay for.

Haven't been here in years and the food hasn't changed. Masa's reminds me more of a employee cafeteria than a restaurant because you stand in line and practically point to what you want and the prices are decent. I had a mini crispy pork with tomato and onion that lacked crispiness and flavor. Once I added chili water and shoyu it tasted pretty good. A little patis would have gone a long way for this dish. For $8 the portion was pretty big although I do miss the customary side of mac salad that is not included with the plate. You have to buy it ala carte. My wife had the mini hamburger steak and she wasn't too happy with it. The hamburger patty was pretty decent although on the small side, but the gravy was the type that you mix powder with water to make it. For $7.45 you get 1 small patty, subpar gravy and rice, no scoop salad. This was not much of a bargain. I guess in a cafeteria style dining hall you can't always get good quality and good taste. read more

Cafeteria at school wasn't this good. Masa's food is a great throwback to simpler local food. Always a variety of things to order so they gotta have at least one item you would want. The staff is helpful and will make whatever you want. Mix plate? No problem. Breakfast? Got u covered. Parking lot gets full but there's lots of seating and the food is affordable and they give a lot. You can even watch sports while you eat. They even clear the table for you. Just leave your plates on the table. Fried chicken and shoyu pork are some of my go to items. No fancy hipster design here. Grab a tray, order a plate and get back to work!!! read more

First time being at this location. Glad I got the chance to experience attending a party here because I was only familiar with their sister-location on the hill across Buzz's. I like the banquet space. Table setup looks ideal and the stage access is perfect for entertainment purposes. Area appeared spacious and easy to navigate despite the party crowd. I would consider this place for my own next special event or at least I would pass along my suggestion to others who might be looking for a site to hold their next party. As far as the food... well, it was good! Lomi salmon- Fresh... Spareribs-Tasty & Andagi- pretty yummy... As far as everything else, it wasn't that memorable! The party host offered a pupu table with fresh spicy ahi poke & limu poke along with soy beans, so that were good starters. They also offered a wide variety of filipino desserts. I'm thinking that was out side food bought in, but I liked the selection. I'm going to be fair and try to return to sample some of their other foods to make a valid judgment. It's funny that I already posted for Masa's and this is another Masas without the 's. But, they have the same address. Oh, wells they have 2 profiles on Yelp. Anyways, they have a very big parking lot that has about 20-30 stalls? Plus, there is street parking if you are lucky and find one. I found a parking stall in their lot as it was early like around 8:00am on a Thursday. First time, here I went inside, it's a big place, I ordered, paid and got my food within a minute or so. The lady was fast and friendly!! I took some pictures and a video for IG I noticed the chicken thighs were cut in half. 8 halves equals 4 whole thighs!! Faster cooking and easier to eat!! Smart idea!! I tried the food and everything was delicious! They give plenty food and a very reasonable price too. I guess that's why this place has been around for a long time.
