My job had catered one of our lunches from here. The food was decent. I heard it was a good price per person. The best thing on the plate was the shoyu pork. It was tender, full of flavor and just melted in my mouth. The namasu was also very good. It had the perfect balance between sweet and sour. Everything else on the plate was meh. The food is very tasty! Service is great and very efficient. This location is in Māpunapuna. Besides catering they serve plate lunches and have daily specials. No dine in so no comment on ambiance. For the price the catering cost is great. We ordered their suggested menu and added on the Shrimp Tempura. This was for. Baby shower luncheon. The food was hot and ready at their earliest pickup of 10am. Everyone loved the food and no one went home hungry. read more

Food is tasty and good size portions. Always go when they have fresh corned also like the Spanish stew, something different but I liked it. Maki sushi can be inconsistent. I'm particular about the amount of vinegar and texture of the rice. I like my rice kinda sticky/mushy so it doesn't fall apart. Majority of the time it's perfection. Definitely recommend but be prepared to wait in line. read more

I first heard of Ige's Catering Service "IGS" at my previous job where apparently, this is a common place many Kama'ainas patronize. Birthdays, graduation parties and celebration of life - - IGS is where many people use. You can do catering and pick-up or catering and set up. Recently, my boss asked me to come here and pick up pre-ordered and pre-paid food for an office meeting. I was given the time for pick-up and although was advised a receipt wasn't necessary, I brought it along just in case. Located in the Mapunapuna area, this was an easy place to find. I used to go to Servco Toyota to service my car and IGS is next to Fisher's Hawaii. IGS shares the same address as Masa's Cafeteria, where the food is all prepared. We pulled in shortly before the pick-up time and came prepared with some cardboard boxes as I was told ahead of time picking up of shoyu pork and namasu, which both have liquid. I sure didn't want to get the car dirty so I came prepared. While walking in to Masa's Cafeteria, we noticed the hot food offerings fro the day and there were a handful of people who were already eating and could hear the voice of Drew Carey hosting The Price is Right game show. At the cashier, I showed the staff my receipt and name. She then asked us to wait on the side as she'll inform the staff on IGS. In a couple of minutes a very polite male staff came to introduce himself. They were finishing up packing our order and advised us to wait outside in the parking lot to load our food into our car. The male staff came to the parking lot with a cart of trays and assisted us loading the food into the trunk. To our surprise and delight, the shoyu pork and namasu were both packaged nicely with garbage bags to prevent leakage and spillage. Major bonus points in my books. So customer service oriented. We drove back from Mapunapuna to Kaimuki and glad to report there were no issues with the food spilling. To my surprise, a couple of trays were still nice and warm. The food was pretty good. They are known for their shoyu pork and sure didn't disappoint. For me, I really liked their namasu and maki sushi. The namasu had a great balance between sugar and vinegar. The vegetables still had a crunch to it. The maki sushi had Hana Ebi, or the red and green colored shrimp flakes. I remember this very well from my childhood days where we'd make sushi at school for special occasions such as boy's and girl's day. The star of this catering was the andagi, or deep fried Okinawan donuts. It still had that crunchy exterior and was still warm when I ate one. It was so good that I went for another one and another one. Aiyah!!! If I had to mention something non-positive, that would have to be the fried chicken. To my surprise, they used chicken thighs and chopped it into smaller pieces before frying, which in my opinion can be a hazard with the bone shards. The chicken pieces were also not uniform as some pieces were clearly much larger and some much smaller. What alarmed me was that while we were eating, I heard a comment in the room where one colleague mentioned "Feels like I'm at a funeral." To be honest, I probably have experienced attending more Chinese funerals where you attend a post funeral luncheon at a Chinese restaurant to dine family-style. I've heard Ige's being popular at local funerals. At any rate, the food sure didn't disappoint. Overall, for the amount paid the catered food from IGS was very reasonable. Second time using them to cater a large party of 100+ guests. I always order the basic catering menu which includes a good variety of items, rice, Mac salad, pork chow mein, namasu, fried chicken, shoyu pork and andagi. I forgot to take photos of the food since I was busy hosting. Make sure to pay in full no more then one week before party date. Prices are beyond reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get! The food is delicious. Delivery was always on time. Will continue to do business with this great company. read more

Ige's Catering deserves a 5-star rating for several reasons. Their food is just darn delicious! From the bentos with nishime, shoyu pork, fried tofu, andagi, Okinawa sweet potato and takuan. Debbie and Anna were great! They stayed open late so we're could prepay and added a few extras. The order was ready on-time and when picking up our bentos, they helped load them in our car. All my experience in attending funerals where they were the caterer the food were tasty. A Celebration of Life in Hawaii is more than a gathering of friends and family... there's usually a slide show and/or poster board full of photos... we share memories and funny stories about our loved one...and...of course... the food is important! Remembering a person is such a bittersweet event. On one hand, I'm so sad that a great human being has left this earth and moved on. At the same time, I'm happy to see my family and enjoy yummy food and share fond memories of my cousin. After the eulogy and slideshow presentation, we we invited to eat lunch... I had a maki sushi, then had another because I wanted to repeat that ono flavor and texture. The namasu was refreshing and not too vinegary or sweet. The macaroni potato salad wasn't too mayonnaise-y and not too dry. The shoyu pork, noodles, and fried chicken are consistently delicious. While planning a celebration of life for my mother from Alabama. This catering service was highly recommended for having the best prices and service. I was initially worried about planning an event while in Alabama but ordering from this establishment was extremely professional and I appreciated that I could pay for my order when I arrived for the celebration of life. On the day of the event, the pickup was easy and on time. They also put the food that might spill into plastic to prevent spillage in our rental car. Everyone enjoyed the food and commented that the shoyu pork was superb. The amount of food we received was more than enough and it was a good amount for the price we paid. I went back and forth regarding whether or not I should write a review for Ige's because I ate their food last night at a funeral and it seems strange to promote a business on such a somber occasion... There was an estimated 700 people in attendance at this celebration of life and I was absolutely blown away by the quality, quantity and customer service that was displayed by the Ige's staff. When I arrived at the venue at 5:30, the Ige's van was pulling in with more food... the kitchen area was packed and hundreds had already been fed. When we left around 7:30, over 700 people had been fed and the Ige's staff put out plate lunch containers for families to take home leftovers... this is the point when I decided that I was going to take a picture (of trays still full of food) and give Ige's the props they rightfully deserve. I visited their website and noticed that they have a catering menu and a funeral menu (photo attached). The family chose Menu A and everything was tasty. The shoyu pork was absolutely delicious. The punch service was also available but I chose to visit the dessert table instead (the family had a pot luck dessert bar). Well again needed to look for take out place. Decided to go to this place in Mapunapuna. Use to be Masa I guess they change names . Had their mini Hamburger Curry it was good but didn't know their mini comes with only rice or Mac salad not both. I thought that was different most places mini cone with 1 scoop rice and 1 scoop salad. The portion was large for a mini so that was good . read more

I placed a catering order for a last minute company bbq. They have friendly efficient customer service and I will always keep them in mind when I need to serve a lot of people. Our employees enjoyed everything from here and a few of them asked where we got the yummy food. We got their shoyu pork, chow mein, and potato Mac salad. Funeral costs add up quickly and we wanted to offer a little more then donuts and coffee for the close family and friends attending, especially since our funeral was during the week and ran from the morning till' lunch time. Ige's helped us by having several set menu's to choose from, the best pricing, included plates, napkins, utensils and there was more than enough food for everyone in attendance. Good food, from a good family. They were patient and flexible with my changing our head count 4 times! Our order wasn't huge, but it did include delivery & as promised, all went well! I love going to parties and finding out Ige's is the caterer for that event. My stomach is always content at the end of the night. I'm planning my son's graduation party in a month & a half and so far, customer really sucks. On their website it says to email with all my party info and so I did last Thursday. Debbie replied back, said she'll call me and I've never heard back since. I replied back onto our email convo and resent it today...and nothing. I called the main number and an older woman answered. She could barely assist and told me I should come in. Now why should I go in when I can't even get assistance on the phone and or online like it says to do? 1 star for customer service and plus one more bc I really like the food! read more

Food was disappointing chicken was over cooked and dry fandango was oily one of our resident makes them and she made a large pan of them and our residents ate all of her's and there were a lot left from ige's people were saying they couldn"t believe it was from a catering place they would had thought that our tenants ones were catered. The co-workers and I simply wanted some take out and decided to give this place a try. Just a few things that did not go so well... 1. Placing orders - asked for a couple mini plates and regular orders, they decided to prepare all the orders as regular; A couple of variations of rice w/ toss and rice w/ mac, all plates came with rice and mac and ONE little wittle itty bitty bag of toss salad...really? 2. Area/Location - Due to current construction of the rail, traffic is really hectic during lunch. Some lights do not have left or right turns & a few single lanes due to the all the construction going on for the rail project; currently roads are just horrible. 3. Food - They definitely provide quantity over the quality of the food. I had the chicken katsu in hope of biting into the some nice crisp breaded meat but was disappointed with what I ordered. wouldn't say it was the best. The egg-and-panko-breading was just cheap and unsavory. On a lighter note, they definitely meet the needs of catering and the window service / phone orders are pretty quick to take your orders so it isn't too bad. I'm sure this place delivers too for a certain fee depending on your location. Personally, I wouldn't spend another dime for the quality of food. Hey in the end you are, what you eat. TIP: CASH ONLY!
