You would never expect to find this treasure as it's hidden in building on the corner of Kuakini and Bachelot Streets. Parking can be found mauka of the blue building, and is shared with the Ho'opono Services of the Blind. Park in the stalls marked for Lanakila Kitchen on the makai side of the parking lot. What brought me here are the scones. The scones can be found in some stores include certain Times Supermarkets and Don Quijote, but you can find them freshly baked here. They are sold as singles, doubles and they also cater too. Our favorites include the Lilikoi & Peach, Mango, and Ube flavors. The scones are incredibly moist with a nice crisp crust. The scones are half the amount you would pay outside of the kitchen, and it's recommended that you come to pick up the baked goods in the early morning. What is also served here are Kupuna lunches to go. Prices range from $6 to about $12. They typically serve three dishes per day. The monthly menu can be found on their website. These are the same foods that are served through the Lanakila Meals on Wheels services as this is the kitchen that prepares those meals. There is also a vending machine that sells frozen meals if you'd like to stock up on frozen meals for your kupuna or even children. Although Lanakila Kitchen caters to the elders, anyone at any age can purchase a meal. My son order the $6 Kimchi Jiggae (Soup) that came with rice and mac/green salad. There is no place to sit, and it's set up cafeteria style. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Bring a bag as they don't sell any. Lanakila Kitchen and Lanakila Meals on Wheels is a great service to our community. read more

I used to buy their lunch specials selectively now and then, but a few months ago they temporarily stopped serving these due to staffing issues. During that time, they continued offering the same menu items available to Kupuna for free (with valid ID). On October 1, 2025, the lunch specials and daily soup options finally returned. I was so glad to see and taste these again that I've been making a point to buy them the last few days. Included with the daily specials is a choice of white or brown rice, and either cooked vegetables or tossed salad. One of my co-workers told me about this place. We grabbed lunch here one day. It's Lanakila, so they employ special needs adults. It's great that they offer them assistance and employment. They're open Monday-Friday for breakfast from 6:30am-10am and lunch from 10:30am-12:30pm. Their menu isn't huge. They have one or two specials of the day and that's it. You have to check the daily calendar and go on the days that you want. I went on Japanese Day. They served beef curry and shrimp tempura $12.50. The prices and reasonable and they give a decent amount of food for what they charge. The plate that I got was terrific. The beef curry was delicious, but the shrimp tempura was a little soggy. That's ok though, no biggie. It came with a huge scoop of rice and greens. I will check the menu and be back. I love that they have prime rib day and sweet & sour spare rib days. read more

Breakfast in Liliha, Honolulu, Hawaii... When I used my Yelp app to search for a nearby restaurant, "Lanakila Kitchen" appeared. I used to volunteer with Lanakila Meals On Wheels - delivering hot meals to Senior Citizens on Thanksgiving Day with the Jaycees... it seems like the same kitchen sells meals to the community and provides a complimentary lunch from Monday through Friday to Kupuna! Wow! Located on Bachelot Street, the entrance is a bit challenging to find. I asked some construction crew members about the kitchen, and they pointed me in the correct direction... at the beginning of the property. Look for the tables outside! I ordered a Breakfast Plate (comes with a beverage - I selected a small Starbucks coffee and forgot to take a photo) at the counter - it's just $6.65, including tax! I got 2 scoops of brown ice, 4 slices of bacon, and 2 over-easy eggs! What a deal! When I saw the staff bringing out boxes fresh scones, I had to get one! For only $2.25 (tax included), I received two delicious Lilikoi/Peach scones! They were moist and soft! I told the staff that I would bring my mom back for the free lunch (today's special was Curry chicken). The cashier said that he would make an exception for today (since it was my first visit) and gave me a Chicken Curry to take to my mom! Thank you! She enjoyed it! We will be back! If you like scones, I highly recommend these from @lanakilapacific or Lanakila Kitchen. I found them at DonQ in Kaheka & Pearl City (just $3.79 for two). Just pop them in the oven to reheat or use an Aroma oven like I did & it comes out crispy & smelling sweet. They have several flavors, but the ones I got are the Blueberry/Lemon & Lilikoi/Peach scones & they were both delicious! I'm not sure if they deliver them daily or not, but I've gone on Mondays & Fridays & they've had plenty; but on other days...sold out. First Timer today at Lanakila Kitchen! Worked across the street for over 3 years and never new this place existed. Shout out to my mom for showing me this place. Due to the Health and safety of our patients and employees with the Corona Virus on our islands the hospital cafeteria I work at has removed a lot of things I once enjoyed for lunch. So I was happy to try out something new. This place is small hole in the wall and I think this meant to be a cafe for the workers here at this facility. Today they had 2 entrees on the menu which was garlic chicken ($8) and Salisbury steak ($6). Now the portion size aren't huge but it's just enough, and it also comes with a drink I decided to try the blueberry pomegranate and It was good. Taste wise the garlic chicken was good, it had crispy bits that I loved and the sauce was on point, corn was bland and had no seasoning tho. But honestly for the price you really can't complain. They also have deserts and salads to choose from in their refrigerator. The desserts are good size and are only $2 each today my mom got the pumpkin crunch and sweet potato haupia, both were good! and From what I've heard they use to have a salad bar where you could make your own salads or add it onto your plate but of course they've done away with it for now due to safety precautions. All in all this was a good choice and I'll definitely be back on those days where I forget to bring lunch to work. read more

Located across from Kuakini Hospital and Rehab Hospital of the Pacific, I always come here to get some lunch for my lunch break. You are able to sign up for email notifications from Lanikila so they can send you the daily specials. They also serve breakfast and catering as well. I come here frequently to grab some lunch depending on their daily specials. The thing I love about the email notifications is they show you the images of the daily lunch specials. I have eaten foods from their Shoyu Chicken, Lechon Kawali, Prime Ribs, Steaks, and so much more. Our coworkers love their steak and prime rib days. Their plates comes with a side of rice (white or brown), veggies, and a drink. The prices starts at $6.50 for lunch. It is also great that they staff their team with people of disabilities, so they help their communities and those to succeed. It's always great coming here to buy lunch and seeing them. In my humble opinion and from what I know of this place, their claim to fame is their Meals on Wheels food preparation for the elderly and needy. A well balanced dietary meal prepared, packed and delivered on a regular basis. The delivery crew consists of volunteers. For Meals on Wheels, the Thanksgiving Meal is prepared, packed and delivered to those who are elderly and needy; all facilitated by the staff and hundreds of volunteers. They also prepare lunches for schools to which I have not personally been a party to so I won't comment either way. The new thing I learned is they are selling their pastry products in the local markets. You will find it in the refrigerator dessert section; some under the Lanikila label and some under the market labels. I like their pumpkin crunch personally. I've seen their haupia cake and a few others I've yet to try. In addition to the great meals albeit catered or delivered, to the needy, the party, the schools, their management team incorporates a training program for those with disabilities. This review of five stars is relative to the mission of the business so please don't expect the ambience of Halekulani I only discovered the cafeteria-type food service through word of mouth because some of my coworkers recommended their lunches. They offer varying daily specials of entrees and side orders, and there are usually sandwiches, wraps, and salads in a refrigerated case. There is not a huge variety but the ingredients are generally fresh and nutritious. A nice surprise is that Lanakila produces a decent selection of baked goods like scones, cookies, pumpkin crunch, and sweet potato haupia dessert. I wanted to write a review for their 2014 Thanksgiving Meal to Go which was absolutely fabulous and supports Lanakila Meals on Wheels! We ordered the hot meal for 10-12 people and picked up on Thanksgiving morning. Ordering was super easy on the website and pick up was well-coordinated with all of their volunteers dressed in orange. We only had to get out of the car to open the trunk, otherwise they loaded everything up for us in very nice cardboard boxes. As for the food, it was ono! The turkey was beautiful and so juicy! (See pic) The best turkey we've had in years without any of the fuss! The sides were also great, though our family still prefers stove top stuffing. The salad dressing and nalo greens were especially delicious as I don't think we've ever run out of green salad at thanksgiving before! The turkey was definitely too big for our family as we still cooked other dishes, so we'll get the 6-8 person size next year. This is going to be our annual turkey tradition from now on. It made our lives easier and supported a good cause at the same time! read more

I own a daycare and used Lanakila for our preschool lunch catering for a year and a half until I absolutely had it with them. If I could get them less than 1 star, I would. You may be wondering what went wrong, well, here's the list: 1. Often late at bringing in lunch which pushed back our lunchtime at school. 2. Mixed up allergies. 3. Sometimes forgot to bring the vegetable or grain for the meal so we'd have to run to the store to grab something last minute. 4. 2 times cockroaches crawled out of their containers. Besides all of these mistakes, the food just wasn't that great or appealing. We switched companies and the kids are so stoked on the new food. They eat seconds and thirds. They are also sleeping better and in better moods in the afternoon. Also, Lanakila used canned vegetables instead of making fresh vegetables. We would call to speak to someone when we had issues and the turnover there was so high that it seemed like we were always talking to someone new. They'd always reassure us that it would be better/on time... but then it wasn't. I should have switched lunch services a long time ago and I'm glad I finally did. Good riddance Lanakila! read more

I absolutely adore this business. I use them as much as I can for all of my trainings. I work with the Department of Health and I've used Lanakila Kitchen over 20 times and each time I am still impressed with their professionalism, efficiency, ease to work with and of course the quality of their food. Jacki Ishikawa has handled all my orders since 2012. When I had to find vendors for food procurement someone suggested Lanakila Kitchen. I'm sure most people do not know that other than Meals on Wheels, Lanakila provides catering service as well as custom products. I've not only used Lanakila for their catering but I've ordered custom shirts for my organization. If you work with the State, Lanakila is compliant (you'll know what I'm talking about) and on the vendor list. During this last bout of trainings I've ordered continental breakfast, all day beverage service, build-a-sandwich bar and platters of cookies...enough to feed a class of 30. My trainings usually start at 8:30 am with check-in at 8:00 am. Lanakila Kitchen has consistently been right on time if not earlier, ranging between 7:30-8 am. I have not had to call to see where my order is, I'v never had to call to remind them that I have a order coming up (in the State system I've sometimes have had to order more than 2 months in advance). I highly recommend their mini croissants (they melt in your mouth and have just the right amount of butter, flaky goodness) and assorted scones. I first had the pupu items about 2 years ago. It was at a Brokers Open House and I was thoroughly satisfied! Ever since then, when I host my own Brokers Opens, I have the food catered from Lanakila Kitchen. The custom menu items can be served as pupus and makes it easier for people to preview the home while snacking. (making sure they don't make too many crumbs) I have had the pleasure of enjoying the following items: 1. Kalua Turkey Sliders 2. Braised Pork Belly with Steamed Buns 3. Satay Chicken on a skewer 4. Crab Cakes with Wasabi Aiolo 5. Ahi Cakes with Wasabi Aioli 6. Lilikoi Bars 7. This time I was able to order for thanksgiving 2016, and wanted to give kudos to a wonderful staff. This is a real gem right across from Kuakini Hospital and next to the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. Lucky to work right next door, Lanakila Kitchen produces amazing food for a bargain. Ribs, Teriyaki Chicken, Mahi Mahi, you name it all for $5. They occasionally have specials that are off menu that may cost a dollar more. You get a drink and fruit along with your meal as well. We used Lanakila for our preschool lunches for over one year. In the time that we used them, they consistently were late, forgot food, messed up lunches for our children with allergies, and we even had roaches in our food a few times. They also seem to have a high turnover. Whenever I would email or call about our issues, they never seemed to not know what I was talking about even though I had the previous emails showing that I let them know when these problems arose. We tried to make it work, but after being extremely disappointed for a long period of time, and seeing that the company wasn't doing anything to change these issues, as they continued to happen, we finally decided to switch to another catering company. When we finally decoded to switch, they called me saying that it was my problem because I, "never told them about these issues". Once I showed them the multiple emails that I sent (not to mention phone calls) they said that they were sad to see us go. Even after all of this, they still charged us for one extra child for a whole month because of a misread email. When we tried to ask about the overcharge, they were very rude and didn't apologize or try to make it right. We ended up just paying it to be done with them. I wish we switched sooner. read more

My dad told me about lanakila meals on wheels a long time ago and when I came across their halloween kit fundraiser, I decided to try since it helps out this program. My family and I loved it. It came with 13 sugar cookies (ghosts and pumpkins cutouts) and 4 piping bags (white, black, green, orange). The box it came in looked really nice. I wish I took a pic. I plan to buy next year as gifts. The cost was $13 which I thought was reasonable. The cookies tasted great and the piping bags were easy to use and enough to decorate all 13 cookies. The only suggestion I would make is to make bigger signs for pickup. I got lost cause the signs where you picked up were small and no one was outside to give kits. I had to park on the side and go into the building and find someone that knew about the halloween kits. Super friendly staff though. Love lanakila kitchen and plan on inquiring about their other services such as catering and thanksgiving to go.
