Waiting with pooper as mom gets her lunch

Wonderful people super friendly servers and management. Mom comes here sometimes for lunch. The lines are short right before 12pm. Tables and chairs outside for convenience but mom usually does take out. Not too flavorful, soft mushy and perfect for moms needs. Kupuna meals are her go to . Thank you!

Breakfast in Liliha, Honolulu, Hawaii... When I used my Yelp app to search for a nearby restaurant, "Lanakila Kitchen" appeared. I used to volunteer with Lanakila Meals On Wheels - delivering hot meals to Senior Citizens on Thanksgiving Day with the Jaycees... it seems like the same kitchen sells meals to the community and provides a complimentary lunch from Monday through Friday to Kupuna! Wow! Located on Bachelot Street, the entrance is a bit challenging to find. I asked some construction crew members about the kitchen, and they pointed me in the correct direction... at the beginning of the property. Look for the tables outside! I ordered a Breakfast Plate (comes with a beverage - I selected a small Starbucks coffee and forgot to take a photo) at the counter - it's just $6.65, including tax! I got 2 scoops of brown ice, 4 slices of bacon, and 2 over-easy eggs! What a deal! When I saw the staff bringing out boxes fresh scones, I had to get one! For only $2.25 (tax included), I received two delicious Lilikoi/Peach scones! They were moist and soft! I told the staff that I would bring my mom back for the free lunch (today's special was Curry chicken). The cashier said that he would make an exception for today (since it was my first visit) and gave me a Chicken Curry to take to my mom! Thank you! She enjoyed it! We will be back! Note: this is mainly a takeout place.

This place is great! Food is amazing! Love their breakfast and lunch deals! If you're a Kupuna over 65 you can get free meal here! They also sell their yummy baked goods here for half the price you see in the stores! Today I ordered their breakfast plate with fried rice with bacon and scrambled eggs. Also ordered one of their cookies to go! You can't beat the prices here! They also sell frozen pre-cooked meals to go too. Not to mention daily lunch specials. Hidden gem worth checking out!

If you like scones, I highly recommend these from @lanakilapacific or Lanakila Kitchen. I found them at DonQ in Kaheka & Pearl City (just $3.79 for two). Just pop them in the oven to reheat or use an Aroma oven like I did & it comes out crispy & smelling sweet. They have several flavors, but the ones I got are the Blueberry/Lemon & Lilikoi/Peach scones & they were both delicious! I'm not sure if they deliver them daily or not, but I've gone on Mondays & Fridays & they've had plenty; but on other days...sold out. It also helps to support their (Lanakila Kitchen)'s efforts as well & did I mention that they are really good!

First Timer today at Lanakila Kitchen! Worked across the street for over 3 years and never new this place existed. Shout out to my mom for showing me this place. Due to the Health and safety of our patients and employees with the Corona Virus on our islands the hospital cafeteria I work at has removed a lot of things I once enjoyed for lunch. So I was happy to try out something new. This place is small hole in the wall and I think this meant to be a cafe for the workers here at this facility. Today they had 2 entrees on the menu which was garlic chicken ($8) and Salisbury steak ($6). Now the portion size aren't huge but it's just enough, and it also comes with a drink I decided to try the blueberry pomegranate and It was good. Taste wise the garlic chicken was good, it had crispy bits that I loved and the sauce was on point, corn was bland and had no seasoning tho. But honestly for the price you really can't complain. They also have deserts and salads to choose from in their refrigerator. The desserts are good size and are only $2 each today my mom got the pumpkin crunch and sweet potato haupia, both were good! and From what I've heard they use to have a salad bar where you could make your own salads or add it onto your plate but of course they've done away with it for now due to safety precautions. All in all this was a good choice and I'll definitely be back on those days where I forget to bring lunch to work.

Their scones are so good! Don't take my word for it, but it's definitely worth a try! It's moist with just the right amount of sweetness. We bought a dozen and are eating one a day. They store well in the fridge and taste just as good as day one!

Sweet potato haupua square is so delicious period best on the island :-) Thank you Lanakila Kitchen. I got this at Don Quixote in waipahu. Better than anything at Safeway or foodland or the coffee shops. Sorry no pre-eat photo. All gone in the stomach. Just crumbs left.

Being of mixed race, I've been exposed to many cultures within my own family. Sometimes it was as simple as... Oh, the start of this review was written years ago and I never finished it! So long story short, Fukuya has been around since the 1930's and I've stopped by countless times over the years. Not my favorite Okazuya, but definitely one of the busiest with one of the largest selections! Authentic, convenient, & open before 5am! In the end, I highly recommend Fukuya for those that live in Hawaii with roots that go back generations to the plantation days. Heck, I'd recommend to just about anyone who loves simple picnic foods that our grandparents once enjoyed. Not much has changed over the years except the bright building and prices. 5 Stars plus! If…read moreyou're not a fan of long reviews, please stop reading and just book Kuoha Culinary right away...there are so many wonderful things to say here. We selected Kuoha Culinary for a small family Celebration of Life for our dad. Chef Ed is so kind and easy to work with. He's busy and he secured our date upon initial communication and assured me he'd provide a preliminary proposal within a few weeks. Here's how I described our catering goals for Ed: Hoping for a fusion of local style comfort foods in an elevated style, fine restaurant quality but "not overly fancy" with several protein options and several veggie options. 2 vegetarian guests, not sure if we need dessert catered. Having never booked catering before, I based our budget on previous restaurant celebrations and gave Ed a very, very wide price per head range and told him I'd prefer if we didn't get too close to the higher end of our price range. As promised, Ed returned with a preliminary proposal and it was lower in price than I expected and included more dishes than I had thought we'd get. Ed recommended drop off service as being the most cost effective and easy option for our event. I requested changes to all three entrees and added a few vegetables and the price remained excellent due to my changes balancing each other out. In our phone consultation, Ed answered my questions clearly, concisely, and confidently. For each case where I asked Ed which of 2 or 3 dishes he recommended, he was able to understand my question and kindly offer his recommendation and he was spot on. Never once did he say the dreaded "it's a matter of personal preference". He just knew what would work best and humbly shared his knowledge and experience. I told Ed my mom doesn't really eat Lup Cheong and he said, trust me she won't notice it and it adds so much to the dish ("Local Boy" En Papillote). Sure enough, mama raved about the fish. I asked him a question about 2 different beef dishes and he explained why the dish he recommended was a better fit for drop off catering. I debated to myself about going with Ed's desserts or getting/making our own, I'm not a big dessert person. Ended up going with Ed and requested an assortment of 3 desserts rather than one, great decision because Ed's desserts were a hit. I was so impressed with my initial interactions with Ed that I was referring people to Kuoha Culinary before I even tasted the food! Fast forward to event date: Ed arrived 15 min ahead of his proposed arrival time. He texted my contact friend and me of his ETA. He politely declined our guests' offers of help and he got everything set up beautifully! Received the most compliments ever on our food! We've had many get togethers with the same people and this food experience surpassed those at previous restaurants and event venues, even the fancy ones. Guests were exclaiming raving about the quality and variety (not exaggerating) complimenting every single dish from appetizers to main dishes to veggies, to the rice to the desserts! Yes, even the humble corn and Hapa rice got rave reviews...seriously! People were scanning chef's QR code and reading aloud about the business at the table (a first) and were so grateful and genuinely wowed. The dishes that were most complimented were the Local Boy Fish En Papillote, Ahi Tataki and the mini tart desserts: Lilikoi Crème Brûlée, Ube Cream, Chef Ed's Chocolate with Haupia The quality was better than the type of restaurant where they give you a deck of cards-sized protein on a plate, with quantity being better than places where you need 2 hands to carry your plate lunch. Best combination ever! Our guests made generous plates to go. I even scraped the sauces into ziplocs to freeze for helping with my own cooking. Hours after the meal and into the next day, people were saying how much they enjoyed everything. The next day, my cousin expressed for the second time how impressed he was with Ed's ability to keep all food at the perfect temperature, texture and consistency. Kuoha Culinary surpassed our goals going beyond merely "impressing" our guests and achieved something even more meaningful: Our guests felt honored, grateful, and joyful. Thank you, Chef Ed, for helping make our celebration so special!
