Where do you go on New Years Day morning when someone says "Oh by the way can you bring a sushi platter to lunch?" You call this place, and ask them if they can throw together a pretty sushi platter in one hour for you. The flavors of the maki sushi are like the kind your grandma used to make back in the day. The inari sushi is not overly sweet like some of the fast food sushi places and their inside out California roll are really tasty. I didn't order the nigiri platter because we had just had sashimi the night before and I wanted something they could do quickly. Thank goodness they were open and still accepting a phone order. Stop by during the weekdays, they have poke bowls and other stuff too!
Aloha Auinalā.... Okay my review here should be a short one since I've never been here before, I repeat NEVER??!! Lol! Honestly, I didn't even know that this place was even opened to the Public either?? Haha! I've driven by this Sushi Place a multitude of times on King St., as I'm on my way to the Post Ofiice, 7-11, etc, & I drive by here & this place always seemed closed to me majority of the time, or I was thinking that this Sushi place only Catered to mainly Restaurants & or Businesses, etc. Well, when my Hubby/Uber driver (lol!) personal pick up our Lunches & Dinners peep came home yesterday, after dropping off something at the Post Office for a Holiday gift (12/22/2021) for a good friend of ours, as I met him at our Screen Door, he was again Carrying bags of Food with him?? Lol. So I asked as I usually do, ooh is that our Lunch for today & my Hubby told me yup, then I'll take the lil packages from him & of course I'll ask him, ooh where did u pick these Sushis from?? And, that's when he was telling me where he went to, "Superb Sush?"? Then my response was, I see that Sushi place all the time as U drive by there, but I never knew that they were opened to the public?, then my Husband told me yeah they were open & had a Crowd of ppl there all Waiting to get their Sushi fix? Huh, I responded, really? Well, Doh to me!!! Haha! My Hubby then told me that the Ladies that work there are really nice, a lil on the older side, but still nice & good Service!! He (My Hubby) put in our lil order of Sushis & a Cute lil Shrimp Tempura Bento for me, how nice of him!! All the lil Sushis that he bought for us, filled us up for our Lunch, & I can't believe that he didn't buy any "Raw Sushi" for himself, since I don't eat anything Raw, & I don't like Poke either!!! My Husband also mentioned that our Lunch was on the Cheaper side yesterday? Was less than $20, Cool I said & thanked him! Oops! Btw we had California Roll, not bad we both said, but the Inari Sushi there from Superb Sushi was Onolicious, we ate all of that cuz it was Good!! My lil 3 Fried Shrimp Bento was good, I couldn't eat the rice tho, after eating the yummy Inari & 2 pieces of the California Roll was more then enough for me. Mahalo Nui, Superb Sushi for now knowing that I can swing by here & pick up more Inari Sushi in the Future, yayyyyy!! Lol. Lastly, my Hubby also told me that this Lady & her Daughter drove all the way from Kapolei to buy their Sushi Fix from here @Superb Sushi. Good to know!! Aloha!
I pass by here all time so finally been wanting sushi so here I am. Got a few of the basics to go off of. Maki Oshinko, good sized Maki rolls rice are good, not overly sweet. One thing inside of this roll threw me off a little is the piece carrot. It was very hard and had a earthy taste almost thought was raw gobo at first. But other than that I liked it. Inari tofu, not overly sweet as well so I liked it. Some places are heavy on sugar and vinegar but here it's pretty balanced. Shrimp tempura roll is basically a California roll with shrimp tempura instead of imitation crab. Again good sized roll mayo creamy. Tempura not crispy but expected. Overall pretty happy with quality and price. I'm definitely trying other items here again.
Delicious Fresh generous portions of sushi! Located on King Street around the corner from the Ford dealership and across the street from the Kapalama Post Office is small but Mighty Superb Sushi take out find! They have been here for years and I'm so grateful they survived during Covid. Pretty much everything here you order will be fresh and delicious. Recently tried the Poke Shells they were to the bomb! This is one of my go to spots to order sushi platters from to take to gatherings as well as picking up sushi before airplane trips! They also can be hired for parties and functions for a sushi bar. Professional and everyone truly loved it! Support local!
In a effort to support local I picked up lunch for the family from here. Ordered a few poke bowls and bentos. Overall it's okay. Not the best and would not be a destination location for me. Ordered the ginger and scallion poke bowl and the fish quality was decent, but the sauce was bland. If you're looking for this style of poke go to Off the Hook in Manoa. Overall the family agreed that the quality and quantity for the price was just okay. Not bad but not the best in the area.
A good spot for some quality inexpensive grinds! Another gem in Kalihi! We got a mix of things to sample: Inari- huge portion for just $4. Ginger ahi poke on rice was good. The ginger green onion sauce was on point! The ahi was tender, but it did have sinews so it's not top shelf grade, but it is still good (leaps and bounds better than Foodland!). The ahi poke and California roll combo was good. Nothing special really in terms of the cali roll but it was big and fat and freshly made. The poke seasoning is on point! The dragon roll and spicy ahi combo was great. Hubby doesn't like unagi so I asked for it on the side and they were very nice. The roll was MASSIVE! The poke was also tasty. They have a small parking lot and service is very friendly. I recommend checking them out if you want some good and fast food.
I've driven past Superb Sushi hundreds and thousands of times but never once checked this place out... I would frequently glance over when waiting in traffic or at the light and always wondered if they were strictly catering? Or possibly wholesale? Maybe a distributor? Then one day I am watching Cheap Eats with Guy Hagi and then... the rest is history! Friendly staff and excellent service! Their specialty sushi rolls and bowls are not just a delight, but also huge! High quality comfort food without paying high quality prices! Really love the dragon rolls and caterpillar rolls! Whenever I eat sushi rolls, I'm used to just shoving a slice down my throat, however, these are huge! Even for me LOL! Mouthwatering and worth every bite! Don't forget to check out their "House Special" too. It's to die for!! They are located on King Street between Honolulu Ford and Enterprise Rentals, across Diners Drive-In. They only have four stalls out front, but it's worth trying to get in there even if busy. It's best to phone in your order. Next time you're in the Kalihi area or just passing through and wanna try really good quality sushi, be sure to check out Superb Sushi!
Always passed by this establishment and finally stopped by to have lunch. Superb sushi is located on N.King st. Directly across from Diners drive in. Because of Covid19 I've been eating out more and supporting local businesses. I ordered their snow crab and limu poke bowl w/sushi rice. Not bad at all for $11.00 you get 2 scoops of Snow crab and 1 scoop of their Ahi, onion, limu poke. Their Poke is fresh and the snow crab is mix with a little mayonnaise. I phoned my order in and the worker Karen said it would be ready in 10mins. I got there about 12mins and the Poke bowl was ready and the staff was very friendly, they greeted me as soon I entered the front door. I'll be back in the future to support them
In this covid environment the service and friendliness at Superb Sushi was Superb. Ordered a crab/ahi poke bowl and a tekka maki roll. The crab in the poke bowl had a good taste. But it was it had the texture of mashed potatoes. The ahi was not the best cut although fresh it was stringy. As for the tekka maki It would have been better if they had put wasabi in it or gave it on the side. Also a shoyu pack would have been nice. Still worth going back to try their other offerings. Be safe and support local.
Only takeout but for takeout it was good. The prices were inexpensive and the value was great. Sushi tasted fine for takeout .
Freshest made-to-go poke bowls I've had. Raw fish is soft, practically melts like butter. The first time I went years ago and ordered a poke bowl, they put all the ingredients together on the spot at the counter in front of me. A measured scoop of cubed ahi from a small container (I guess they only cut a limited amount at a time), 1 teaspoon of this, 1 spoon of that, a handful of onions, a splash of this, a sprinkle of that, fresh fresh fresh! Since then, probably because of Covid, gotta stand back from the food prepping and the counter is protected etc. But I still hear them stirring things together with each order. I like the ginger poke, the house special, and pretty much whatever I've had. They do catering, tho I haven't tried large orders. Sushi sticky rice is good quality and seasoned just right. The parking lot is small, maybe 5 spots. Take-out only. Affordable, fresh, great poke spot.

Story time! Needed a last minute sushi platter for Father's Day... I called the morning of and spoke to Mahi. She said she had to ask the sushi chef if they could fit my order in since it's usually one-day advanced orders.... She called me back within the hour and luckily they could make it! Yay! They had exactly what I wanted - The Assorted Nigiri Platter, but I asked if they could substitute Ebi for Unagi or Hamachi. She said they can sub Ebi for Unagi. Great! When I pre-paid over the phone, I noticed there was a double charge of tax on my credit card plus a credit card fee, so I called back and Mahi was able to correct it, but I still had to pay 3% credit card fee. She said they accept Cash, but since she's only working half-day, no one would be working the register when I arrive so can't do cash payment for my order. Ok, that's fine. My curb-side pick up time was 4:30pm, and Mahi said to call the number on the building and someone will come out with my order. I arrived early at 4:00 and the gate was locked and no one was answering the phone. We drove around and called back at 4:15, still no answer... drove around again... 4:25, noticed a car parked in the lot and the gate was open. I tell them I'm here to pick up my order, but they said they don't work here, they're just the tenants who live upstairs!! ?? Oh really?! Ok....So luckily one of them (nice man) called the owner Kevin, and said there's a customer waiting outside for their order. I knocked on the locked door. Then saw an Asian man dressed in a white kitchen apron walk out from the back, but he motioned to me "Closed". Then I say, I'm picking up a catering order!" The tenant asks, "Where's Vida?!" Then suddenly a lady runs out to open the door. I say, "You didn't answer the phone?!" She opens the refrigerator with my order and asks for my name and asks me which one is my order...? There's 2 other orders in the fridge after mine so they did know people would be there... I tell her it's the 4:30 pick up - she let's me check it... Alright, everything looks good! I sign her copy, get my receipt and bounce! Presentation and taste was great for what I wanted - Father's Day sushi at home. Price was $99 plus and tax & cc fee = $106.77 for 40 pcs nigiri. Would I order again? Not sure... was kinda disorganized, but glad I got my sushi and it worked out... decent 4 star sushi to say the least! Still have other sushi spots to venture to! read more

For years I've past by this sushi shop on the way to work and not even once cared to check this place out. My boyfriend swears this is one of his favorite places to get poke bowls in Kalihi because of how fresh it is and reasonably priced. Superb Sushi is highly known for their catering sushi bar but they also have a daily counter selling poke bowls, sushi, and even bentos. Prices for their counter ranges but it's reasonable. Parking is probably their downfall. There's limited angled stalls in their driveway. One way in and one way out on a main busy street. Weekends are okay but weekdays can be terrible. FYI poke is made fresh in front of you. Literally. When I saw the aunty take out a bowl, added a whole bunch of stuff, you know I was pretty stoked. There's only one type of poke for the poke bowl but my description of it is a limu poke with onions. They also give you a side of siracha mayo if you want to make your own spicy ahi I suppose? I was super happy that they offer a choice of sushi rice or plain rice for their bowls at no additional charge. Poke bowls are $8. Hands down their poke bowls are that good. Super fresh fish and made in front of you? Yes, yes, yes! I previously had their rolls which are pretty good as well. They give a lot of fish and filling so that's always a good thing. To make it easier I suggest doing a phone order if you're going on a weekday during the lunch hour since it gets a little crazy. I've been here a couple of times and only to leave disappointed because the lines are sooo long. If you're in the Kalihi area, you might as well check it out! read more
Oh my... such a gem I found. They mainly do catering for events and high end hotels. they also do takeout at their store. Small menus but the quality of ingredients are top notch. Sushi rice was perfectly cooked. Not too wet, sweet or salty. Tried Reverse spicy ahi maki and shrimp tempura don. I usually don't like Ahi... spicy ahi was divine. Mayo, great dried chili and coarse salt bring such a good texture and roll I got was a huge. Very generous portion of Spicy Ahi. Shrimp tempura don was not too big size but crispy tempura and sushi rice are well-balanced. I will go back there to try their menus. read more

In town, love sushi, and need something on the go? I was introduced to Superb Sushi at a company Christmas Party a few years ago and been a regular customer ever since. I thought it was just a catering company but they provide amazing take out too! Very affordable priced. Orders are very quick. Very kind staff. Good sushi and you know it's fresh too! read more

I first heard about Superb Sushi from Guy on Cheap Eats and bookmarked it in yelp. My hubby suggested we try it out a few weeks later so I thought why not. We found the resturant easy enough, right on King Street. There is parking right in front, 4 spots. The place is not eat-in, only take out. The menu is easy to read with pics and prices. They have a reward punch card program that offers a discount which is great. We tried the reverse Cali roll and dragon. We loved them both! Everything we have tried there has been so so so delicious. They really live up to their name...superb sushi. I literally crave their food! All the fish is fresh, the miso soup is always hot and flavorful and the service is super friendly and helpful. We regularly go here and the food is always top notch quality and the price is great! I highly recommend them!! read more

Take out or eat in avail. Small restaurant that does a lot of catering. Fresh fish served here ! Had the Combo ahi poke with inside out California roll for $12. ahi poke "bowl" bento is $8. Fish is fresh and only sushi rice is used. No brown rice here. They do a lot of catering and the prices are very affordable. We have never been disappointed. Warning: Parking lot has only 4 stalls. Fast friendly service ! Always! read more

Stopped in after the Post Office run. Could see the Superb Sushi sign from across. They're menu is very limited. It caters more towards Sushi Rolls and Party Platters. I ordered the Poke/Cali combo. The Poke has a little limu, some onions, and their special sauce. It was pretty delightful and refreshing. The Cali Roll had some crab, cucumber, and avocado. This too was made perfectly well done. All the different flavors in your mouth all at once, so incredible. It also came with a bowl of miso soup. Alittle strong on the miso, but very flavorful. read more

I wanted a new experience to celebrate my sister's birthday. She loves sushi and turns out she always wanted to have a party with a sushi chef - so as a family we set it up. I spoke with Kevin and he was really friendly, down to earth, and helpful in answering all my questions. On the date, Kichi and Alex (2 fantastic sushi chefs) came early, set up in our backyard, and were ready to cook for us for our scheduled 2-hour all-you-can-eat buffet. We chose the Sushi and Tempura bar, and let me tell you--everything was delicious, fresh, not oily, crispy/crunchy, and made to order. My sister and all our guests loved it - it was a hit! I would recommend anyone interested in an all-you-can-eat sushi experience with your loved ones or for a party, to call Kevin today and schedule something with them. I'm definitely hiring them again for our next celebration and recommend Superb Sushi wholeheartedly. Mahalo Kevin, Kichi and Alex! read more

I love talking to foodies because they know the best places for food. Poke bowl for only $7?!? How can you go wrong with that? The menu is very limited and they basically only have one type of poke with spicy sauce on the side. Their poke seasoning is delicious! It is on the saltier side but that's how I like it. There is a table with four chairs or a counter with four chairs to sit on if you plan on eating it there. A lot of people just pick up their food and go. Ordering is quick and easy and they prepare it within minutes of ordering. I will definitely be back again very soon. read more
