It's been 8 years since my ROTD for Quezada's. Boy is it just as good, if not better, since then! Power duo Jennifer and Mike craft all their recipes from scratch (less the tortillas and chips) using Mike's grandmother's recipes. The chorizo is sinfully savory (with a higher heat index than their other proteins) while the chicken verde is the perfect base for any taco creation. Salsas? Try them all! Their pineapple pico de gallo was the crowd favorite and no one could resist the guacamole (I went for seconds without apology). They come outside of queens usually Wednesday but sometimes they're not there because they're busy catering. We usually order the pulled pork nachos. Nachos come with velveeta like cheese on top, then there is a nice selection of pulled pork, guacamole, pick de gallo, sour cream and vinegary jalapeño. It's super satisfying but to be honest I share it with a coworker because it's a lot to eat for one of us and you cannot save it or it gets very soft. No good later. The couple works super hard and are always very nice and friendly! Once in a while this is what we order. $12 a plate is great. Still haven't truer anything else I wish I still had that picture. We couldn't recommend this business more! We were on the hunt for a caterer that would deliver to our venue. Well, Quezada's Salsa does that and more! Jennifer was very responsive to start! I emailed her initially and then we spoke on the phone. The original pricing came out to about $17/person (I think it may have escalated a bit since then) + 15% catering fee (I believe you can eliminate this if you pick up instead). And what does a catering fee mean, you ask? Well, for us it meant Jennifer drove up to our venue, set everything up, and then stood there for 45 minutes while she HEATED OUR TORTILLAS ON THE SPOT and refilled the pans until we were all fed! Next level! All the salsas are house made and DELICIOUS! She was a dream to work with! No hidden costs, tons of food for everyone, and everything was hands down amazing. One of the long time parents said it was the best food we've had for one of these gatherings ever. Even the chips were better than any I've had! We had the birria beef and the chicken salsa verde and they were both so good, tho honestly for me the chicken seemed a tiiiiny bit tastier than the birria. I know! That is not what we expected! Also, THE GUAC! We got 4 extra servings and still ran out! If you ordered some, ORDER MORE! It's out of this world! I wanted to do a taco bar for a recent get together but then felt overwhelmed with having to shop, prepare and cook all of the ingredients (especially of a cuisine I'm not very versed in. I went on Yelp and looked up "Mexican catering" and up popped Quezada's with rave reviews! I contacted Quezada's first via email to see if there was a way for me to pick up food (I did not need their services on-site). Jennifer got back to me within a half day or so. She said that while they had catering jobs almost everyday, because I was looking for something to pick up and heat myself, they could work something out with me. They already offer a taco kit menu (meat, soft corn tortillas, salsa, cilantro/onions) with add-ons available (pico, guacamole, elote, etc). I placed an order with Jennifer and she confirmed a day before my scheduled pick-up. Upon picking up, she explained what everything was and how to best heat it (if needed). I forgot to take pictures but everything looked just like the pictures on yelp! The taco kits and add-ons we got (rice, beans, guacamole, pico, elote) were all fantastic. I used them recently for a birthday party with their taco and chips/salsa bar. Jennifer came promptly and setup her station without being invasive in any way. Every year when we stay in Honolulu, we host a taco party and have this company provide the food for us. The food is made fresh and is absolutely delicious. It offers a wide variety of choices to please each of your guests. Loved trying these delicious tacos! They came to Queen's PB in a food truck. They will be there every Wednesday from 10:30-2:30 PM. They are located in parking lot B next to the Khoi food truck. Their menu consists of 3 carnitas or shredded chicken tacos or nachos. The tacos come with mild or spicy salsa, guacamole, cilantro and lime. The nachos come with queso, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, and jalapeños. I ordered the chicken tacos. You get 3 soft tacos. They filled me up. The chicken was juicy, moist, and flavorful. Next time I will try a combo and do tacos/nachos. The tacos and nachos cost $12 and they take Venmo! Super convenient. My only critique would be to cut up the onion into smaller pieces I had 2 large chunks of onion in my tacos. The salsa was also very delicious! I had the mild. I came across Quezada's Salsa from a friend who had encountered this catering company at a networking event and decided to hire them for catering, primarily based on these stellar reviews, for an event and I am extremely happy I did. We held a private indoor event early March 2023 for about 30 friends (we're all locals). I contacted Quezada's back at the end of 2022 to get more information on their services and emailed back and forth with Jennifer, the wife owner of this married couple duo. Jennifer was extremely patient with me, as I had a lot of questions (I think she answered a couple more than once because the timing was so spread out - sorry!) and she never once expressed anything but professionalism and helpfulness. I could tell she really cared that I had all of my questions answered and that she wanted to help me with this event. Jennifer presented me with a list of options for the catering menu, including several types of: - meat: carnitas, chicken verde, birria aka beef, or soyrizo for vegetarians/vegans - tortillas for tacos and tortilla chips for dipping - salsas: pico de gallo, mild, medium, or spicy salsas, and pineapple salsa - sides: Mexican rice, black beans - toppings: guacamole All of these are included along with plates, utensils, and napkins, but you can also order add-ons such as elote, queso fresco, and sour cream. Many come with cilantro, but I hate cilantro and they were good about providing separate options for with or without it. We ended up doing all of the above except for the birria/beef and the tacos were unbelievably good. I haven't found many legit taco place on Oahu yet, but this place is definitely amazing. The meat was very nicely cooked and actually had real flavor, so it wasn't just a tasteless lump. Definitely get the carnitas. After adding the rice, beans, salsa, and sour cream, everything balanced together perfectly for a really great taco. The salsas had lovely flavor too - I like that there were distinct flavors for each, like the medium had a smoky flavor and the mild one had a fresh green herb flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of the tortillas - although I believe they were authentically Mexican, they just got soggy immediately and I prefer tortillas with a bit more texture and structure. I like them with a little stronger corn flavor too - these didn't have a ton of flavor. I also always order elote whenever I see it (AZ, DC), but this one felt too heavy with the mayo-y/sour cream-y coating and too sharp with the raw red onions. I like a lighter elote with a hint of acidity. These are minor, though, compared with how great the tacos taste. I've worked with other caterers and I think their prices are fair and include tax, tip, delivery, and on-site catering for one hour (includes set-up, light food prep, and removal). They also leave all food behind packaged so that you can take it with you if there are leftovers when you're done. What I may appreciate even more than the excellent food was the professionalism and superb customer service that Jennifer and her husband delivered. Tasty food is all well and good, but if you can't get it on time or they forget to bring something, you're not going to hire that caterer again. Jennifer was early, she had everything she needed for a beautiful presentation, she prepped the carnitas and warmed the tortillas on site, she supplied all the materials, and was very upbeat and friendly to all of our event attendees. I always get leary when one claims to make the best Mexican food in Hawaii. The ones I've had in the past could never compare to those back in S. California. That is until I tasted tacos from Quezada's Salsa... My co-worker and I were looking for a caterer for our company parties and came across Quezada's Salsa on Yelp. We loved the fact that it was Mexican food because majority of our management team loves really good Mexican dishes. I messaged Quezada's and Jennifer responded almost immediately, which is a huge plus as time was of the essence when trying to plan for 4 different parties. I simply love the fact that Quezada's takes care of EVERYTHING from tacos, meats all the way to utensils, plates and napkins. Their service and presentation is impeccable and world-class. They use only fresh ingredients and the authentic tortilla wraps (not any Sinoloa brand - no offense to that family, but it's just not the same type of tortilla wraps). Michael (the chef) even went above and beyond my request and made my own guacamole with no cilantro! The food was delicious, as many of our fellow yelpers expressed that they could just eat the seasoned meats all by itself. Everything we had was full of flavor and authenticity. The employees enjoyed every morsel of the seasoned meats, salsas, guacamole, black beans w/ a very nice size roasted jalepeno, and Mexican rice. I swear on Tuesdays when I know it's coming I can't think of anything else! What you get: When you receive your package it consists of the meat you have chosen, 8 tortillas, a mix of cilantro/onion/lime (which is so tasty on each taco) and your choice of salsa and/or guacamole (we always get the Mexican style pork and both salsa and guac) My fiancé pounds about 5-6 tacos and I am left with the remaining. We usually add cheese cause I love cheese and sometimes will sauté some red peppers or something to add. You get plenty of meat for all your taco shells and sometimes we even have extra meat so we use chips or our own stash of tortillas to finish it off. And when I mean finish it off I mean lick every ounce from the bowls... Then cry a little because it's over and you can't have it until next week... Pros: Price is very reasonable and the quality is great! It's homemade! It's as authentic as you can get on island! Free delivery to anywhere on the island! The owners are so friendly and accommodating! They also do catering! They often are at local farmers markets selling their products and food! Cons: We can only get Taco Tuesday once a week...
