Their pineapple pico de gallo was the crowd favorite and no one could resist the guacamole (I went for seconds without apology). Jennifer will prepare everything for you and break everything down at the end. My "work" hosting company events is no work at all with her around. Story time! Needed a last minute sushi platter for Father's Day…read more.. I called the morning of and spoke to Mahi. She said she had to ask the sushi chef if they could fit my order in since it's usually one-day advanced orders.... She called me back within the hour and luckily they could make it! Yay! They had exactly what I wanted - The Assorted Nigiri Platter, but I asked if they could substitute Ebi for Unagi or Hamachi. She said they can sub Ebi for Unagi. Great! When I pre-paid over the phone, I noticed there was a double charge of tax on my credit card plus a credit card fee, so I called back and Mahi was able to correct it, but I still had to pay 3% credit card fee. She said they accept Cash, but since she's only working half-day, no one would be working the register when I arrive so can't do cash payment for my order. Ok, that's fine. My curb-side pick up time was 4:30pm, and Mahi said to call the number on the building and someone will come out with my order. I arrived early at 4:00 and the gate was locked and no one was answering the phone. We drove around and called back at 4:15, still no answer... drove around again... 4:25, noticed a car parked in the lot and the gate was open. I tell them I'm here to pick up my order, but they said they don't work here, they're just the tenants who live upstairs!! ?? Oh really?! Ok....So luckily one of them (nice man) called the owner Kevin, and said there's a customer waiting outside for their order. I knocked on the locked door. Then saw an Asian man dressed in a white kitchen apron walk out from the back, but he motioned to me "Closed". Then I say, I'm picking up a catering order!" The tenant asks, "Where's Vida?!" Then suddenly a lady runs out to open the door. I say, "You didn't answer the phone?!" She opens the refrigerator with my order and asks for my name and asks me which one is my order...? There's 2 other orders in the fridge after mine so they did know people would be there... I tell her it's the 4:30 pick up - she let's me check it... Alright, everything looks good! I sign her copy, get my receipt and bounce! Presentation and taste was great for what I wanted - Father's Day sushi at home. Price was $99 plus and tax & cc fee = $106.77 for 40 pcs nigiri. Would I order again? Not sure... was kinda disorganized, but glad I got my sushi and it worked out... decent 4 star sushi to say the least! Still have other sushi spots to venture to!

He responded super fast to my inquiries. We had two different sushi chefs each time but both were really friendly and cool. They were on time and came prepared. You just need to provide them a space and maybe access to a sink. I love how I didn't need to worry about them. The minimum amount for a party is 40 people~ They'll stay for 2 hours or until they run out. In regard to the sushi, they quality of fish is great. They make: hamachi, ebi, salmon, maguro nigiris to name a couple. Then they also make California and spicy ahi(?) handrolls. This wife and husband duo, Paula and Mitchell Kalima, is seriously a dream team. They ensured the food at our wedding turned out absolutely perfect! We worked on all of the logistics and costs ahead of time with Paula, who is as easy to work with as she is keen to the nitty gritty details. She helped make our vision a reality, from our wonderful outdoor cocktail hour (down the hill from the reception hall, so guests could enjoy their drinks and snacks in the same spot overlooking the ocean as the ceremony), to the several-stationed main event, to the kick-ass catering and bartending folks who served us. Paula's coordination skills simply rock. Overall, I also believe she gave us fair, reasonable prices for all that we had at our wedding. On the day of our wedding, Chef Mitchell (who has worked as a head chef in Waikiki for years) cooked us a feast that had us and our guests raving. We had a poke bar and other pupus (hors d'oeuvres) during the cocktail hour, traditional Hawaiian food at the main event (the works... Mitchell makes it all), a fresh sushi station (nigiri as well as maki, using top-notch, restaurant-quality fish), and mouth-watering prime rib. Nothing fell short of delicious. My partner and I are still defrosting Mitchell's kalua pork leftover from the reception two months later and loving it. As expected, our reception was a blur for us as the bride and groom and we didn't have all that much time to eat. But what sticks out in my memory was how Paula came up to my partner and I at the beginning of the night, introduced herself and Mitchell (we had not met them until then, since we planned the event from California), personally brought us plates of a little bit of everything (though it was buffet-style for the rest of the guests), and checked in with us throughout the next hour to make sure we were enjoying the food. It was like a personalized, mini-restaurant experience. All around, the Kalimas excel at carrying out their customer-centered catering business. They are worth 6 out of 5 stars! Very minimal set up that it was almost a missed opportunity and I as I browsed at the menu options it seemed quite simple with just three options though it wasn't as it was Risotto! I just love risotto and the complex build is so yummy that I just can't believe the luck of this discovery and it was either Mushroom, Shrimp or Smoked Risotto choices and of course I was tossed between the Mushroom or Smoked he said that I could add meats/mushroom in either choices but stuck to the Mushroom Risotto which has shallots, garlic in the dish as well while it's finished with white wine and some fresh parmesan cheese I also chose to add truffle oil for the bit of bougieness and what a heavenly bite. As I chose to enjoy it there it was nice that he had it plated versus using a take out container and what a luxurious bite yet delicate as it was cooked perfectly as this unexpected find turned to a relaxing lunch along with my drink from Panday made it a nice break from my errands.
