Where do you go on New Years Day morning when someone says "Oh by the way can you bring a sushi platter to lunch?" You call this place, and ask them if they can throw together a pretty sushi platter in one hour for you. The flavors of the maki sushi are like the kind your grandma used to make back in the day. The inari sushi is not overly sweet like some of the fast food sushi places and their inside out California roll are really tasty. I didn't order the nigiri platter because we had just had sashimi the night before and I wanted something they could do quickly. Thank goodness they were open and still accepting a phone order. Stop by during the weekdays, they have poke bowls and other stuff too!
Aloha Auinalā.... Okay my review here should be a short one since I've never been here before, I repeat NEVER??!! Lol! Honestly, I didn't even know that this place was even opened to the Public either?? Haha! I've driven by this Sushi Place a multitude of times on King St., as I'm on my way to the Post Ofiice, 7-11, etc, & I drive by here & this place always seemed closed to me majority of the time, or I was thinking that this Sushi place only Catered to mainly Restaurants & or Businesses, etc. Well, when my Hubby/Uber driver (lol!) personal pick up our Lunches & Dinners peep came home yesterday, after dropping off something at the Post Office for a Holiday gift (12/22/2021) for a good friend of ours, as I met him at our Screen Door, he was again Carrying bags of Food with him?? Lol. So I asked as I usually do, ooh is that our Lunch for today & my Hubby told me yup, then I'll take the lil packages from him & of course I'll ask him, ooh where did u pick these Sushis from?? And, that's when he was telling me where he went to, "Superb Sush?"? Then my response was, I see that Sushi place all the time as U drive by there, but I never knew that they were opened to the public?, then my Husband told me yeah they were open & had a Crowd of ppl there all Waiting to get their Sushi fix? Huh, I responded, really? Well, Doh to me!!! Haha! My Hubby then told me that the Ladies that work there are really nice, a lil on the older side, but still nice & good Service!! He (My Hubby) put in our lil order of Sushis & a Cute lil Shrimp Tempura Bento for me, how nice of him!! All the lil Sushis that he bought for us, filled us up for our Lunch, & I can't believe that he didn't buy any "Raw Sushi" for himself, since I don't eat anything Raw, & I don't like Poke either!!! My Husband also mentioned that our Lunch was on the Cheaper side yesterday? Was less than $20, Cool I said & thanked him! Oops! Btw we had California Roll, not bad we both said, but the Inari Sushi there from Superb Sushi was Onolicious, we ate all of that cuz it was Good!! My lil 3 Fried Shrimp Bento was good, I couldn't eat the rice tho, after eating the yummy Inari & 2 pieces of the California Roll was more then enough for me. Mahalo Nui, Superb Sushi for now knowing that I can swing by here & pick up more Inari Sushi in the Future, yayyyyy!! Lol. Lastly, my Hubby also told me that this Lady & her Daughter drove all the way from Kapolei to buy their Sushi Fix from here @Superb Sushi. Good to know!! Aloha!
I pass by here all time so finally been wanting sushi so here I am. Got a few of the basics to go off of. Maki Oshinko, good sized Maki rolls rice are good, not overly sweet. One thing inside of this roll threw me off a little is the piece carrot. It was very hard and had a earthy taste almost thought was raw gobo at first. But other than that I liked it. Inari tofu, not overly sweet as well so I liked it. Some places are heavy on sugar and vinegar but here it's pretty balanced. Shrimp tempura roll is basically a California roll with shrimp tempura instead of imitation crab. Again good sized roll mayo creamy. Tempura not crispy but expected. Overall pretty happy with quality and price. I'm definitely trying other items here again.
Delicious Fresh generous portions of sushi! Located on King Street around the corner from the Ford dealership and across the street from the Kapalama Post Office is small but Mighty Superb Sushi take out find! They have been here for years and I'm so grateful they survived during Covid. Pretty much everything here you order will be fresh and delicious. Recently tried the Poke Shells they were to the bomb! This is one of my go to spots to order sushi platters from to take to gatherings as well as picking up sushi before airplane trips! They also can be hired for parties and functions for a sushi bar. Professional and everyone truly loved it! Support local!
In a effort to support local I picked up lunch for the family from here. Ordered a few poke bowls and bentos. Overall it's okay. Not the best and would not be a destination location for me. Ordered the ginger and scallion poke bowl and the fish quality was decent, but the sauce was bland. If you're looking for this style of poke go to Off the Hook in Manoa. Overall the family agreed that the quality and quantity for the price was just okay. Not bad but not the best in the area.
A good spot for some quality inexpensive grinds! Another gem in Kalihi! We got a mix of things to sample: Inari- huge portion for just $4. Ginger ahi poke on rice was good. The ginger green onion sauce was on point! The ahi was tender, but it did have sinews so it's not top shelf grade, but it is still good (leaps and bounds better than Foodland!). The ahi poke and California roll combo was good. Nothing special really in terms of the cali roll but it was big and fat and freshly made. The poke seasoning is on point! The dragon roll and spicy ahi combo was great. Hubby doesn't like unagi so I asked for it on the side and they were very nice. The roll was MASSIVE! The poke was also tasty. They have a small parking lot and service is very friendly. I recommend checking them out if you want some good and fast food.
I've driven past Superb Sushi hundreds and thousands of times but never once checked this place out... I would frequently glance over when waiting in traffic or at the light and always wondered if they were strictly catering? Or possibly wholesale? Maybe a distributor? Then one day I am watching Cheap Eats with Guy Hagi and then... the rest is history! Friendly staff and excellent service! Their specialty sushi rolls and bowls are not just a delight, but also huge! High quality comfort food without paying high quality prices! Really love the dragon rolls and caterpillar rolls! Whenever I eat sushi rolls, I'm used to just shoving a slice down my throat, however, these are huge! Even for me LOL! Mouthwatering and worth every bite! Don't forget to check out their "House Special" too. It's to die for!! They are located on King Street between Honolulu Ford and Enterprise Rentals, across Diners Drive-In. They only have four stalls out front, but it's worth trying to get in there even if busy. It's best to phone in your order. Next time you're in the Kalihi area or just passing through and wanna try really good quality sushi, be sure to check out Superb Sushi!
Always passed by this establishment and finally stopped by to have lunch. Superb sushi is located on N.King st. Directly across from Diners drive in. Because of Covid19 I've been eating out more and supporting local businesses. I ordered their snow crab and limu poke bowl w/sushi rice. Not bad at all for $11.00 you get 2 scoops of Snow crab and 1 scoop of their Ahi, onion, limu poke. Their Poke is fresh and the snow crab is mix with a little mayonnaise. I phoned my order in and the worker Karen said it would be ready in 10mins. I got there about 12mins and the Poke bowl was ready and the staff was very friendly, they greeted me as soon I entered the front door. I'll be back in the future to support them
In this covid environment the service and friendliness at Superb Sushi was Superb. Ordered a crab/ahi poke bowl and a tekka maki roll. The crab in the poke bowl had a good taste. But it was it had the texture of mashed potatoes. The ahi was not the best cut although fresh it was stringy. As for the tekka maki It would have been better if they had put wasabi in it or gave it on the side. Also a shoyu pack would have been nice. Still worth going back to try their other offerings. Be safe and support local.
Only takeout but for takeout it was good. The prices were inexpensive and the value was great. Sushi tasted fine for takeout .
Freshest made-to-go poke bowls I've had. Raw fish is soft, practically melts like butter. The first time I went years ago and ordered a poke bowl, they put all the ingredients together on the spot at the counter in front of me. A measured scoop of cubed ahi from a small container (I guess they only cut a limited amount at a time), 1 teaspoon of this, 1 spoon of that, a handful of onions, a splash of this, a sprinkle of that, fresh fresh fresh! Since then, probably because of Covid, gotta stand back from the food prepping and the counter is protected etc. But I still hear them stirring things together with each order. I like the ginger poke, the house special, and pretty much whatever I've had. They do catering, tho I haven't tried large orders. Sushi sticky rice is good quality and seasoned just right. The parking lot is small, maybe 5 spots. Take-out only. Affordable, fresh, great poke spot.

This little hidden gem in Kalihi has some of the best tasting sushi and poke. I've had their food in the past at various events when they cater their hand rolls made to order. I know their catering is very popular, but I'm happy I finally got to try them at their shop. I think they mostly do catering, so their shop is basically a sushi factory in the mornings, but you can come by for poke bowls until 1:30 when they close. They also offer extras from whatever they were making, so I got to try some tempura maki and futomaki, both of which were amazing. I don't usually like futomaki, but superb sushi makes theirs with that pickled carrot that I love and marinated mushrooms. Yum!! My eyes were a little big for my stomach, as I also got a poke/cali combo for $11. The combo also comes with miso soup. They mix the poke when you order it, and in addition to the seasonings, they add onion and seaweed. You can also get a little container of their spicy sauce to drizzle on top to make a spicy poke bowl. There isn't much in terms of parking or seating, but that's ok, it's a take out sushi kind of place with excellent quality poke and sushi. I'll definitely be back! read more

The sushi here was decent. The choices to carry out were very limited which I found weird, but decided on the reverse ahi roll. This was a small hole in the wall spot so I was a bit skeptical about how the food would taste, but the ahi tasted fairly fresh and I was overall satisfied with my order. read more

We were looking for a hole in the wall place and we got lucky finding this one! The ahi is SUPER fresh! We got the spicy ahi roll, reverse spicy ahi roll, reserve Cali roll and the shrimp tempura roll. All were huge and very tasty! We will definitely start coming here more often. read more
What a wonderful quick stop for Hawaiian poke and sushi! The food is always fresh, tasty, and affordable. You will find the menu nearby the counter accompanying a number of photographs of combo meals and sushi platters for large events and parties. They don't have a seating area, but the take out items usually come out quickly and made to order. We had the Fresh Poke Bowl ($7) that consisted of large chunks of fresh tuna, seaweed, green and white onions, sesame seeds, furikake, and sushi rice. We asked for the poke to come extra spicy, and the tuna was fresh and tender with bits of furikake and sharp onions in the backdrop. Additionally, the sushi rice came with good texture and the seasoning contributed to the profile of the poke. I find their use of salt a bit heavy handed, but the freshness of the tuna was able to overcome this shortcoming. I can eat this every day. For their combo meals, I had the Poke Cali Combo ($11) that came with the same delicious poke with six pieces of California Roll with tobikko. As a fan of California Roll, the sweet dimension added a nice contrast to the poke. Additionally, I also find the Poke and Tako Combo ($11) a great choice. The Tako was tender but still comes with a nice chew. The combination of fresh tuna and octopus was filled to the brim. These combo meals also come with miso soup. It was heaven! The Inari ($3.50) came with six sizable pieces of inari filled with perfectly seasoned sushi rice. The inari age was moist, soft, and addictive. Another item to consider for those on the go is the Unagi Futomaki ($6.50). It was made with 8 thick sizable pieces of futomaki tightly rolled with nori, eel, egg, cucumber, kombu, dried gourd, pickled carrot, shiitake mushrooms, and sushi rice. Along with Inari, the Futomaki was another item that can be a meal in itself. Service was friendly, personable, and efficient on each of our visits. This is our regular stop whenever we visit the area. The only limitation is the level of saltiness on the poke, otherwise there is plenty to like about this place. I hope to return soon to try their Poke and Unagi Combo and Spicy Salmon Maki. read more

At the suggestion of party planner extraordinaire Russ M, my BF hired a sushi chef for our New Year's Eve party! We had about 30 guests coming and wanted to have something special to welcome in 2012. Normally we'd spend NYE popping fireworks, but as that was out of the picture, we decided to swank it up with friends at home. Ivan, our sushi chef, arrived right on time and set up by our lanai. He sliced up the sushi and prepped fresh fish and an assortment of hand rolls. I stuffed my face with ebi, hamachi and ahi nigiri. My boyfriend ate spicy ahi and creamy crab handrolls. Everything was wonderfully delicious and the cuts of fish were very fresh. Ivan was friendkdid a great job cleaning up and left zero mess. The total came out to about $400 for two hours of bomb private party sushi magic. Yes, it might sound a bit expensive but if you get people to chip in it comes out to about $10-$15 per person. Not a bad price to ring in the new year with some 2012 swankiness! Yelp 365 Challenge: #125/365 (The Swanky Sushi) read more

G-O-O-D M-O-O-R-N-I-I-N-G W-O-R-L-D!!! I was in a good mood when I woke up Monday morning. I was feeling happy. When I'm happy I like to look in my full length mirror and sing my version of "If You're Happy and You Know it". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUeS6gabSkE Feeling good! Looking good!! So I'm driving Ewa on North King Street, headed for Queen's Supermarket when I see a sign that read: "Fresh Poke Bowls $6.00" http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/superb-sushi-honolulu-2?select=sfFPFxqiVHDELkset905lQ#Jr4SpQnkqZPSWZQcQyTECg That sign made me happy! A Poke Bowl for $6.00 makes me happy! So I start singing.... "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands: Clap! Clap! If you're happy and you know it clap your hands: Clap! Clap! If you're happy and you know it then your face will surely show it If you're happy and you know it clap your hands: Clap! Clap!" After buying kim chee at Queens, I head back to where I saw the sign. I pass Waikamilo and turn left into the parking lot of a place called Superb Sushi. I walk in and give the place a good look around. This is not a sit down restaurant. This place is setup for mass production sushi. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/superb-sushi-honolulu-2?select=z2xL9Hfgpxw4vXKFimpKSg#z2xL9Hfgpxw4vXKFimpKSg I see a picture of their Spicy Poke Bowl on the wall and ordered it. The Spicy Poke Bowl is $6.00! The poke they put in the container is fresh and was made right in front of me! It's a mixture of fresh, cubed ahi mixed with seaweed, round and green onions, Hawaiian salt and is topped with tobiko! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/superb-sushi-honolulu-2?select=z2xL9Hfgpxw4vXKFimpKSg#pLR9maaxBRK8SGJVUllfwg All I can say is .... "I was happy and they knew it, cause my face it really showed it I was happy and they knew it clap your hands! Clap! Clap!" Their was a picture of their three piece Shrimp Tempura Don on the wall. It looked good for the $6.00 price. The next day I drive down N. King Street and headed on down to Superb Sushi. I walk in and without any hesitation, ordered the Shrimp Tempura Don. I was happy! The lady behind the counter knew I was happy because I start singing: "If I'm happy and you know it stomp your feet: Stomp! Stomp! If I'm happy and you know it stomp your feet: Stomp! Stomp! If I'm happy and you know it then your face will surely show it If I'm happy and you know it stomp your feet: Stomp! Stomp!" So the lady stomped her feet. The shrimp tempura for my order was not deep fried in front me. It was reheated! But for $6.00, I can't complain. The rice was topped with furikake and a side of pickled red ginger! "I was happy and she knew it and her face it really showed it I was happy and she knew it stomp your feet: Stomp! Stomp!" On the wall was a picture of their Unagi Bowl. The picture made me happy because I love unagi! The very next day I'm on N. King heading on back to Superb Sushi. I walk in and ordered the Unagi Bowl. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/superb-sushi-honolulu-2?select=z2xL9Hfgpxw4vXKFimpKSg#sfFPFxqiVHDELkset905lQ I was happy! So I start singing: "If you're happy and you know it scratch your balls: Hu-RRAY!! If you're happy and you know it scratch your balls: Hu-RRAY!! If you're happy and you know it then your face will surely show it If you're happy and you know it scratch your balls: Hu-RRAY!!" Boy, were they surprised! I drive home; washed my hands and dug into my Unagi Bowl. It was a pretty big piece of Unagi! "I was happy and I knew it and my face it really showed it I was happy and I knew it I scratch my balls ....Hu-RRAY!" Superb Sushi is strictly take out; catering or sushi chef for hire. Walk-in takeout hours are 7:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. The parking lot is small so you drive in and have to back out onto King. The Poke Bowl is fresh and a reasonable but not generous size. The price of the lunches includes tax. Superb Sushi made me happy so I started singing: "If I'm happy and I know it I do all three: Clap! Scratch! Hu-RRAY!! If I'm happy and I know it I do all three: Clap! Scratch! Hu-RRAY!! If I'm happy and I know it then my face will surely show it If I'm happy and I know it I do all three: Clap! Scratch! Hu-RRAY!!" I'm pretty sure this place will make many men happy. I'm pretty sure their face will really show it and if they're happy they will want to scratch their balls. Hu-RRAY! P.S. About the "balls" chorus. Before you get all habut about that chorus, there are many kinds of balls: Footballs, tennis balls, golf balls, musubi balls. The balls I was referring to were golf balls. P.P.S. Only men know how happy scratching their balls makes them feel. And of course, you always have to wash your hands before you eat braddahs!! P.P.P.S. If any of you ladies decide to go down to Superb Sushi because you want to be happy; make up your own version of "If You're Happy and You Know it" and scratch whatever and wherever you think is appropriate. read more

After passing by this establishment for years thinking they only did catering, I spied signs that said, "Poke Bowls" and "Now Open" and decided to stop in. And I am so happy that I did. I ordered the $10 poke bowl. It came with a generous amount of poke, rice, a California maki sushi and miso soup. A bargain considering a lot of places charge that for only poke and rice. What made this a spectacular experience for me is that the poke is made to order. It hasn't been sitting around all day. But more importantly, I was able to have mine without chili peppers, green onions, and round onions. For me, that was worth the price right there. But then I got to eating the meal and, well, OMG. The poke was tender, melt in the mouth. The inamona and oil used to make it was tasty, some of the best I have ever had, including the fancy ones with oyster sauce and avocado. This one beat those, hands down. To top it off, the staff was very friendly. They were willing to chat and share their experiences. The only down side? The parking lot is small and reversing out takes some maneuvering if you don't want to reverse into traffic. But you know what? I'll gladly deal with it just to get that poke bowl. Next time I go I'm going to try the unagi bowl or the salmon collar bowl. Both looks splendid. read more
