Where do you go on New Years Day morning when someone says "Oh by the way can you bring a sushi platter to lunch?" You call this place, and ask them if they can throw together a pretty sushi platter in one hour for you. The flavors of the maki sushi are like the kind your grandma used to make back in the day. The inari sushi is not overly sweet like some of the fast food sushi places and their inside out California roll are really tasty. I didn't order the nigiri platter because we had just had sashimi the night before and I wanted something they could do quickly. Thank goodness they were open and still accepting a phone order. Stop by during the weekdays, they have poke bowls and other stuff too!

Aloha Auinalā.... Okay my review here should be a short one since I've never been here before, I repeat NEVER??!! Lol! Honestly, I didn't even know that this place was even opened to the Public either?? Haha! I've driven by this Sushi Place a multitude of times on King St., as I'm on my way to the Post Ofiice, 7-11, etc, & I drive by here & this place always seemed closed to me majority of the time, or I was thinking that this Sushi place only Catered to mainly Restaurants & or Businesses, etc. Well, when my Hubby/Uber driver (lol!) personal pick up our Lunches & Dinners peep came home yesterday, after dropping off something at the Post Office for a Holiday gift (12/22/2021) for a good friend of ours, as I met him at our Screen Door, he was again Carrying bags of Food with him?? Lol. So I asked as I usually do, ooh is that our Lunch for today & my Hubby told me yup, then I'll take the lil packages from him & of course I'll ask him, ooh where did u pick these Sushis from?? And, that's when he was telling me where he went to, "Superb Sush?"? Then my response was, I see that Sushi place all the time as U drive by there, but I never knew that they were opened to the public?, then my Husband told me yeah they were open & had a Crowd of ppl there all Waiting to get their Sushi fix? Huh, I responded, really? Well, Doh to me!!! Haha! My Hubby then told me that the Ladies that work there are really nice, a lil on the older side, but still nice & good Service!! He (My Hubby) put in our lil order of Sushis & a Cute lil Shrimp Tempura Bento for me, how nice of him!! All the lil Sushis that he bought for us, filled us up for our Lunch, & I can't believe that he didn't buy any "Raw Sushi" for himself, since I don't eat anything Raw, & I don't like Poke either!!! My Husband also mentioned that our Lunch was on the Cheaper side yesterday? Was less than $20, Cool I said & thanked him! Oops! Btw we had California Roll, not bad we both said, but the Inari Sushi there from Superb Sushi was Onolicious, we ate all of that cuz it was Good!! My lil 3 Fried Shrimp Bento was good, I couldn't eat the rice tho, after eating the yummy Inari & 2 pieces of the California Roll was more then enough for me. Mahalo Nui, Superb Sushi for now knowing that I can swing by here & pick up more Inari Sushi in the Future, yayyyyy!! Lol. Lastly, my Hubby also told me that this Lady & her Daughter drove all the way from Kapolei to buy their Sushi Fix from here @Superb Sushi. Good to know!! Aloha!

I pass by here all time so finally been wanting sushi so here I am. Got a few of the basics to go off of. Maki Oshinko, good sized Maki rolls rice are good, not overly sweet. One thing inside of this roll threw me off a little is the piece carrot. It was very hard and had a earthy taste almost thought was raw gobo at first. But other than that I liked it. Inari tofu, not overly sweet as well so I liked it. Some places are heavy on sugar and vinegar but here it's pretty balanced. Shrimp tempura roll is basically a California roll with shrimp tempura instead of imitation crab. Again good sized roll mayo creamy. Tempura not crispy but expected. Overall pretty happy with quality and price. I'm definitely trying other items here again.

Delicious Fresh generous portions of sushi! Located on King Street around the corner from the Ford dealership and across the street from the Kapalama Post Office is small but Mighty Superb Sushi take out find! They have been here for years and I'm so grateful they survived during Covid. Pretty much everything here you order will be fresh and delicious. Recently tried the Poke Shells they were to the bomb! This is one of my go to spots to order sushi platters from to take to gatherings as well as picking up sushi before airplane trips! They also can be hired for parties and functions for a sushi bar. Professional and everyone truly loved it! Support local!

In a effort to support local I picked up lunch for the family from here. Ordered a few poke bowls and bentos. Overall it's okay. Not the best and would not be a destination location for me. Ordered the ginger and scallion poke bowl and the fish quality was decent, but the sauce was bland. If you're looking for this style of poke go to Off the Hook in Manoa. Overall the family agreed that the quality and quantity for the price was just okay. Not bad but not the best in the area.

A good spot for some quality inexpensive grinds! Another gem in Kalihi! We got a mix of things to sample: Inari- huge portion for just $4. Ginger ahi poke on rice was good. The ginger green onion sauce was on point! The ahi was tender, but it did have sinews so it's not top shelf grade, but it is still good (leaps and bounds better than Foodland!). The ahi poke and California roll combo was good. Nothing special really in terms of the cali roll but it was big and fat and freshly made. The poke seasoning is on point! The dragon roll and spicy ahi combo was great. Hubby doesn't like unagi so I asked for it on the side and they were very nice. The roll was MASSIVE! The poke was also tasty. They have a small parking lot and service is very friendly. I recommend checking them out if you want some good and fast food.

I've driven past Superb Sushi hundreds and thousands of times but never once checked this place out... I would frequently glance over when waiting in traffic or at the light and always wondered if they were strictly catering? Or possibly wholesale? Maybe a distributor? Then one day I am watching Cheap Eats with Guy Hagi and then... the rest is history! Friendly staff and excellent service! Their specialty sushi rolls and bowls are not just a delight, but also huge! High quality comfort food without paying high quality prices! Really love the dragon rolls and caterpillar rolls! Whenever I eat sushi rolls, I'm used to just shoving a slice down my throat, however, these are huge! Even for me LOL! Mouthwatering and worth every bite! Don't forget to check out their "House Special" too. It's to die for!! They are located on King Street between Honolulu Ford and Enterprise Rentals, across Diners Drive-In. They only have four stalls out front, but it's worth trying to get in there even if busy. It's best to phone in your order. Next time you're in the Kalihi area or just passing through and wanna try really good quality sushi, be sure to check out Superb Sushi!

Always passed by this establishment and finally stopped by to have lunch. Superb sushi is located on N.King st. Directly across from Diners drive in. Because of Covid19 I've been eating out more and supporting local businesses. I ordered their snow crab and limu poke bowl w/sushi rice. Not bad at all for $11.00 you get 2 scoops of Snow crab and 1 scoop of their Ahi, onion, limu poke. Their Poke is fresh and the snow crab is mix with a little mayonnaise. I phoned my order in and the worker Karen said it would be ready in 10mins. I got there about 12mins and the Poke bowl was ready and the staff was very friendly, they greeted me as soon I entered the front door. I'll be back in the future to support them

In this covid environment the service and friendliness at Superb Sushi was Superb. Ordered a crab/ahi poke bowl and a tekka maki roll. The crab in the poke bowl had a good taste. But it was it had the texture of mashed potatoes. The ahi was not the best cut although fresh it was stringy. As for the tekka maki It would have been better if they had put wasabi in it or gave it on the side. Also a shoyu pack would have been nice. Still worth going back to try their other offerings. Be safe and support local.

Freshest made-to-go poke bowls I've had. Raw fish is soft, practically melts like butter. The first time I went years ago and ordered a poke bowl, they put all the ingredients together on the spot at the counter in front of me. A measured scoop of cubed ahi from a small container (I guess they only cut a limited amount at a time), 1 teaspoon of this, 1 spoon of that, a handful of onions, a splash of this, a sprinkle of that, fresh fresh fresh! Since then, probably because of Covid, gotta stand back from the food prepping and the counter is protected etc. But I still hear them stirring things together with each order. I like the ginger poke, the house special, and pretty much whatever I've had. They do catering, tho I haven't tried large orders. Sushi sticky rice is good quality and seasoned just right. The parking lot is small, maybe 5 spots. Take-out only. Affordable, fresh, great poke spot.

Cheap Poke bowls, fresh fish, bomb spicy mayo sauce that comes on the side. Service is always great and friendly. Parking is small and can sometimes be a hassle, but you can usually avoid stress if you go early in the morning. Definitely my go-to for poke around the Kalihi area. read more

This place is great. It's a small restaurant mostly meant for take outs. It has two small tables inside for what seems a maximum occupancy of 7 so you can eat inside if it's not full. The staff is very friendly and they make everything in front of you. You can also order in large quantities by placing orders in advance. Quality - 4/5 The food is fresh as they gather their ingredients locally. Definitely makes for a very good meal. Quantity - 5/5 By far the biggest rolls I have eaten. I normally order two rolls at any other sushi place to get full, and I couldn't eat more than one so I took the other home. Service - 5/5 The staff is very friendly and don't mind explaining or answering any questions you might have. The only bad thing I can think of is the small parking lot but other than that I definitely recommend! read more

We hired superb sushi to provide pupus during cocktail hour before our wedding reception. Based on comments I received from guests, the sushi was fresh and delicious, and the chefs were friendly and courteous. We also had an easy time booking them for our date, and no problem reaching them when we needed to make adjustments to our guest count and time. I would definitely hire superb sushi for any pupu station or cocktail service needed! read more

Was looking for a good "hole in the wall" sushi place close to work. And I found it first try with Superd Sushi! Had the reverse Cali, reverse spicy ahi, shrimp tempura, and spicy ahi Maki. The ahi was suuuper fresh and delicious. The portions were pretty good and the prices were definitely reasonable for how big these rolls were. The only reason I gave 4 stars was the shrimp tempura was a bit soggy and not super crispy. But everything else was awesome! Will be coming back for sure! read more

We hired Superb Sushi for a live sushi bar for our wedding rehearsal dinner and we couldn't have been happier. The sushi chef arrived early at our house, set up his own table and equipment, and made hand rolls and nigiri to order for our guests at an incredibly fast pace. At the end of the dinner, he even created sushi rolls out of the extra fish we had ordered. The chef was incredibly respectful and professional, and the events manager Nancy was very responsive and helpful. Definitely recommend! read more

I have never made a Yelp review before so this should show how great this place was. Came to this cute little shop right before our flight back home and was introduced with a lovely worker( I believe to be the owner/manager). We got the in-house special for $13 and it was delicious! The meal consisted of a bed of rice, shoyu(?) ahi poke, and shrimp tempura to top it off. The owner/manager was very friendly which made the experience great. Mahalo to all the workers! read more

Another hidden gem in Kalihi! Located right across the street from Diners, superb sushi makes one of the best poke I have ever had! Cheap, fresh and great quality. The ahi used for the poke is very fresh and of great quality. The fish is so soft and I did not find any fiber strings in the poke at all. It is mixed fresh to order. The amount of seasoning, onion and limu was just right. The sushi rice accompanying the poke bowl was cooked to perfection. Not to sweet and not too tangy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Ordered 4 lbs of poke and a combination sushi platter for a New Years office party. Very friendly service and although the parking is a bit tricky, it wasn't too difficult to get out. Multiple people at the party asked where the poke was from. Everyone was pleased with the quality and presentation. Definitely will use them again! read more

The reverse spicy ahi maki is where it's at. It is the roll that I've been searching for. A reverse California maki with spicy ahi on top. The cali part only comes with cucumber, no avocado. The spicy ahi is pretty delicious. Best roll in town. read more

Here I am on a dreary workday just before lunch time in the parking lot across the street from Superb Sushi. I'm waiting to meet someone and all I can think about is WHERE AM I GOING TO EAT LUNCH??? Okay, I really do have a life, but at that particular second all I could think about was FOOD!! Now, I confessssssss that I LOVE poke!!! So, I see this sign across the street that says "$6.00 Poke Bowls". And all of a sudden the heavens open and "ahhhhhhh", I think okay as soon as the person I'm waiting for shows up, I'm going to get a poke bowl. So my friend arrives, and I'm like okay...great, thanks, yup, see you later, blah-blah, blah-blah, GO AWAY....I want to get a poke bowl!! So FINALLY, they leave and I'm like YES!! So, I drive across the street into this small parking lot and enter this haven of delight. I order the poke bowl and happily return to my car. Now, I'm going to be honest....I kinda wanted a california poke bowl, BUT for $6.00 I'm willing to try anything. So, I open the container, and drizzle the super, special, amazing, delicious, incredible spicy sauce on my FRESH (not previuosly frozen) fish and take my first bite! And BAM!!! The flavors hit me....the fresh fish, the sweet raw onion, the ogo, YES, YES!!! Ding-ding-ding!!!!Winnah!!!! Planning a grad party for next summer and you can bet we are going to have a a sushi bar at that party! I turned everyone in my family on to the Superb Sushi poke bowls. Next time, I'm going to try the unagi, but the poke will always be my first!!! Y-U-M-M-Y!!! read more

Superb Sushi has been impressing me lately. I have never been to their physical location yet, however I have encountered them at several events in the past few months. The first time was at Lori I's Halloween party where she had hired them to have a sushi bar in her garage (I hope my daughters don't think ALL Halloween parties are going to be this fabulous from here on out, lol!). I've also tried them at various fairs and most recently today at Manoa Japanese School New Year's Fair. Their poke bowl had fresh ginger, nice chunks of fresh ahi Loki, topped off with just the right amount of spicy sauce and a sprinkle of furikake. Their fish is always pretty fresh and the rice they use is well, SUPERB! I think after today's experience, I'm motivated to go to their brick and mortar. read more

We have been having Superb Sushi cater our annual College Kids Christmas reunion. Granted there has only been 2 so far and counting. We have a,great time the kids love it as most of them went away to remote places scarce of any Asian food near by. They look forward to this sushi buffet at our house to unwind, relax, catch up with each other and have excellent sushi. We have our own chef and his cart for 2 hour the kids can put put on as much sushi they can eat. It's so much more relaxing the going to a restaurant, find parking, sit in a noisey crowded place and not able to spread put and enjoy. Thank you Nancy for taking care of us! Superb Sushi was just that...SUPERB!!! We hired them to cater at our wedding. So we had a live sushi bar with two men preparing sushi for my guests. Everything was made to order. The sushi was fresh and tasty. My guests were repeatedly returning to get more. Everything was onolicious!! Our wedding was planned last minute and Kevin Higa the owner made it easy to accommodate our needs. I cant tell you how many compliments that I received about this company. In fact, two of my friends are hiring them for there own weddings. Want to impress your guests, hire SUPERB SUSHI for any event!! read more

They got rid of their original California rolls and it's just not the same. Not sure why they changed it but I always use to get the poke California combo and it comes with miso soup but when I went for lunch recently I was so disappointed when I tried their new California rolls and it taste awful. read more

My son Kyrie just had his graduation party and my husband and I had decided to hire a sushi company to make sushi at my home. We were fortunate enough to have Wade as the sushi chef. He was friendly, prompt and so easy to work with. Many more people than I had accounted for showed up and thank goodness Wade kept the line moving along smoothly the whole time. Besides that the sushi was delicious, especially their spicy tuna and well worth the money. Will highly recommend to friends and family! read more

Get the poke & unagi donburi $13. The poke is amazing & I love a good unagi. They're fast clean and friendly there. Most of their business is catering. If you like sushi rolls and poke...this is a must try spot. Super low key & is great for a takeout option. They close early in the afternoon, so I would call ahead to check they're open. read more

Excellent customer service. Took my order for two large platters of sushi with only hours notice. This was for a sad occasion and with so many other things to arrange, we appreciated their professionalism. They were cheerful, quick and accurate upon pickup. The sushi was great. Can't go wrong for the price. I decided to go there for lunch while waiting for my truck to get serviced at Honolulu Ford next door. The poke bowl was actually REALLY good. The ahi was fresh and the sauce really tasty. The spicy ahi roll was also a good deal for $7. I live in Ewa so not like I would drive all the way into town for this place but if I'm in the area I'd stop here for the awsome sushi! read more

The $6.00 poke bowl is now the $7.00 poke bowl and the sign has been changed. Oh yeah and their prices on some of the items (mostly the combos) have jumped a few bucks here and there. I really loved their sushi and poke bowls because it is fresh. The cone sushi was only for $3.50 and it was just...meh... nothing special about it. I really liked the Shrimp Tempura sushi ( I think this one is $7?) and the Reverse California Roll (6 pieces and worth the $4.00). Like every awesome place, the hours are horrendous. If you want to try their amazing broke the mouth poke bowls and fresh, not conveyer belt left for hours so flies and other people's germs go on the plate sushi, you need to be early because they are only open from Monday to Saturday from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. read more

I think this place is more known for catering. But you can still order food to go or eat here . Even tho theres like 4 chairs lol. Small place with a limited menu choice but SO GOOD. Had the poke unagi combo 13.50$ the inari 3.50$ and the spicy tuna maki 6.50$ killed it in 5 min hahahahah read more

I recently hired Superb Sushi to provide a live sushi bar at my husband's milestone 40th birthday party. I can't say enough good things about the company. The sushi chef Wade was very professional and organized. He showed up an hour early to set up and did a great job of serving our guests all night. Booking the sushi chef and confirming the logistics was easy peasy from start to finish. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this company, the service they provide, and the food! The Miso soup had to be the cheapest and good tasted item there. The sushi and spicy ahi was so salty like I could feel the grains of salt on my rice and spicy ahi. The price is average but like I would rather drive all the way to Genki Sushi I dead of eating here. The only good thing here is the Miso soup. The service was average like the only thing they should change is the food. And the times. Like after school I wanna get a bite but it closes at 3:00 which sucks. They would make more business if they opened more late. They have sitting inside and it's just an average place. Very quite most of the time. It's just an average salty place. read more

Not sure if I went on a off day. I went here cause of the great reviews but I ordered their poke bowl and it was pretty bad. I tired to make myself eat it cause I was hungry but could only eat half of it before tossing it. I can't believe everyone else likes this. The fish was stringy. Taste was below par. Rice was ok. The seasoning was ok. So the Limu was ok. Hence the 2 stars. If you want to try real poke go to Alicia's down the road. It costs more but tastes way better. read more

Food is OK, but staff is very unfriendly and actually outright mean! Very bad experience, can only highly recommend to stay away from these awful people! Go to other much better sushi places around downtown Honolulu or Chinatown. Again, stay away from these people! read more

I hired the live sushi bar for my daughters 18th birthday party. Let me tell you this was sooo worth it!!! If you are sitting back thinking about having them at your function, just have it! Just to hear everyone beyond satisfied with the taste and of course my family as well...priceless. Kevin, Nancy and Toshi went above and beyond to make this experience memorable. I placed my order with a side of SHOESTRING FRIES and a REFILLABLE BOTTOMLESS LEMONADE. The wait was pretty long but I guess they make it hot and fresh just like Jack (in-the-Box does) so it was absolutely worth the wait. TURKEY CLUB with SOFT SHELL CRAB SAND ($8.99 + $6.99 = $15.98!? crazy ugh) My concoction (bc I made it up the chef said!) was deeeeelicious! Needed to eat it with two hands to hold it all together! The great thing about it? Once I was done, the other half was ready to go! More Y-U-M! :D The turkey was soft, tasty deli meat. It's got nicely-seasoned good taste but just not my thing unless it's freshly-baked turkey meat. FRIES ($2.90) were ahhh just OK. I'm a major fries person (I'll eat them with chopsticks or fork if no chopsticks!) and there really needed to be more plus they really need to be cooked until crispy. Perhaps next time I'll remember to ask for extra crispy fries! .) LEMONADE ($2.75) Pleasant, fresh, delicious lemony taste! Worth it if it's endless refillable! Lemons are good for ya! :) Second Visit - I called 15 minutes ahead and ordered just the SOFT SHELL CRAB SANDWICH ($9.99) (with POLENTA FRIES, $3.75) bc again ...guess what? They ran out of fresh turkey burger patties! Wimper :( but oh well - There's always another lunch day, right!? :D Besides, this was a very good opportunity to try just the soft shell crab by itself (as Cin T. suggested). When I arrived after 20 minutes, it was just about ready to go and off I went headed to my work meeting! Awesome! Except for one thing! They forgot my polenta fries and I didn't have any time to wait! :/ You would think I'd learn my lesson by now, right?! Nope! Both visits the soft shell crab was so delicious - not oily but soft inside, a bit crunchy on the outside with the taste and feeling of comfort food when you're chewing it going down into the depths of your happy stomach lining...ahhhhh...! If only they were open right now as I'm reminiscing..I mean typing this! Anyway, the happy news is that I'm definitely going back (for guess whaaaat? Lol!) but next time I'm gonna call ahead in the morning or when they first open to order that dastardly jk! turkey patty as substitute for their Kulana beef patty to make my personal lol TURKEY PATTY SURF N TURF ($13.99 for me one of these days! Haha!) and hopefully, just hopefully, I'll finally get to try their awesome crunchy gotta-have POLENTA FRIES! Letcha know what happens at my impending third visit! I guess sometimes you just gotta do what your tummy wants you to do! Hahaha!! :D

Love…read moreto look for a simple bite at the Honolulu Farmers Market held on the Blaisdell Center lawn every Wednesday night from 4pm-7pm which makes it easy dinner option for me and I stumbled upon this cute spot offering various summer rolls. As I looked over their menu offerings I do wish that they list the ingredients on each item as asking is easy but easier if it's listed as she informed me of what it consists of I practically forgot what it was in just seconds...omg! I did decide on "Avo Veggie". Watching it being build to order is nice and the generous amount of avocado is very nice along with lettuce, tofu and carrots is the vegan option but at $15 felt a bit tough and very small. You do get two sauces and with three types to choose from since this is for mom I just went with peanut for both choices. Love items that are freshly made and it was very good though wished it had more veggies but loved the freshness offered at the convenience of this farmers market. Thank you!

Using the "shrimp lovers" as the example, flash rehydrated, still very chewy rice paper surrounds a generous amount of fresh lettuce, shaved carrot and no less than five plump boiled 31-40 size shrimp. No rice noodle filler just veg and protein. A swirl in the sweet, creamy, peanut sauce and wow, just wow. Other options include a chicken with crispy onions, pork, spicy chicken and a vegan avocado roll. Different sauce options also available. Two refreshing rolls and two sauces per order. Tip: they will wrap the rolls in cling film if you are not going to consume them immediately. $15-$16 per order. A worthy stop for a refreshing snack should you see them around.
