Just had my son's grad party of about 75 people and chose G Town Catering for our dinner. I'm so glad I did! I went with the plus pack options, which includes rice, 2 salads, 1 noodle, and 3 regular entrees. (I chose white rice, potato mac salad, spring salad, shoyu chicken, kalua pig, ground beef curry), AND I added on the star of the show, the taco nacho station. My family and friends loved the food! They couldn't stop talking about how good it was! I'm still hearing people talk about the food a few days after my event. The littles AND the grown ups loved the taco nacho station. My niece ate three big servings of the ground beef curry alone. Romy and Brandon were so nice and flexible! I found that calling was the best way to communicate with Romy. They were easy to get a hold of and answered all my anxious questions. They had a beautiful set up with their own table clothes, serving gear, and fresh flower arrangements! I provided a few 6 foot long tables at the venue and we were all set! Best of all, we got to take home the leftovers. I mean EVERYONE took home leftovers. I had asked them before if it was ok, so I did bring my own take out containers, foil, and ziplocks. Romy very neatly left the extra trays of food to the side for me and my guests. The salad was fresh, crispy and included some nice garnish. The dressing was flavorful and creamy. My order came with 4 good size pork ribs. Well cooked with a nice sweet/ tangy sauce. Good sized portions which were totally filling. Another great choice is the Ahi Cake plate. Fresh ahi patties paired with a nice sauce. Ahi was flaky with a lot of flavor. Winner. I contacted G Town catering regarding my husbands 50th birthday party 10 days before the event. Brandon was great about communicating with me up until the day of pick up which I appreciated. On the day of the event, I went to pick it up with a friend. Brandon was very nice and professional making sure to check the order over to make sure we had all that we ordered. Got our lunch catered at work. Considering we ordered over 50 plates of different varieties, they were able to deliver right on time. Aside from pizza, all companies we ordered from were always late. - I believe the rice was a garlic rice.. not too sure but it wasn't just plain white rice. - it comes with lots of greens with a semi sweet light but creamy dressing - the garlic shrimp definitely did not disappoint.. It was cooked just right. A total of 11 shrimp topped with finely chopped garlic. I wish it was more though. I also wish it came with an optional hot sauce. I would buy two plates of these for me. - the ahi cake was good. It was soft textured and It came with a creamy dressing. Went to Kaiser Waipio to pick up husband's glasses on a Tuesday. Outside the clinic, 2 friendly vendors (father & son) invited us to try some samples of the food they were selling. Update, had the pleasure of enjoying their food at another company event, this time I tried the sautéed ahi, with roasted garlic butter sauce. Once again, G-Town out did themselves. Plated with a one good sized slice of ahi perfectly done, no knife needed on this baby. It was covered with ample butter sauce, which had the perfect amount of roasted garlic and combined with the creaminess of the butter made it go WOW in my mouth. And again, the salad fresh as can be, complimented with the creamy Asian dressing G-Town is known for. They're located at the Hmsa farmers market on Friday afternoon they're the vendor with the blue tent with two people manning this booth. The line can be kinda long if you go During the lunch rush hour. And the wait time can be maybe 15-30 mins. You basically order with the first guy and move your way down the line of food and pay at the end. Then you get your utensils from a table nearby. There is no parking but I parked at Walmart and walked over. Their entrees are pretty cheap and honestly who can say no to 12$ ahi katsu? Good food, large portions, reasonable prices. . .what's not to like? FYI, my experiences are not with their catering, but rather as one of the vendors supplying chow to John A. Burns School of Medicine and environs while the cafe is being renovated. How much food? Even the small portion is usually enough for me, and it costs only $5-$6. (A medium plate is around $8; price varies slightly.) There's a main dish (meat or fish), brown rice, and spring mix tossed salad. Note: They do not serve white rice, but they do sometimes have garlicky hapa rice. You can get combo plates. During the few times they've been here, I've seen a variety of things on the menu: All kinds of fish, roast beef, mushroom chicken, shoyu chicken, Kalua pig, roasted garlic chicken, BBQ ribs. . . The Kalua pig is succulent, a bit fatty, but not too salty. The mushroom chicken is creamy and sweet. Shoyu chicken - saucy and flavorful without being choked by salt. The roast beef was fine, cooked well, but it was fairly standard. I wouldn't get it again but I would not hesitate to re-order the other three. Romy and his fam catered for our wedding this weekend held at a penthouse in Waikiki and we could not have asked for a better team to do our catering. One of the reasons I chose him is because this is a family run business and so was our wedding. We had mostly family and friends help create our intimate wedding. From the very first meeting with him we saw his passion with his food AND his passion for making sure his clients get what they want. During our taste test at his kitchen, I was already amazed by his food. Romy is also very flexible with changes when we had to change our options a bit and the number of people. During the wedding my husband and I were served and so were our parents' tables and the rest was buffet style (to give everyone else the option to choose how much food they want). And the portion for each person was definitely worth the price we paid for!!! Discovered this business outside Kaiser Mapunapuna (they do a pop-up store outside the clinic every second and fourth Thursday of the month if I recall correctly). There was a line, and the smells were good, so I bought lunch on impulse. The ribs and the shoyu chicken were tender and flavorful, the greens were fresh and crisp, and the salad dressing was a tasty concoction that seemed to have Dijon mustard and some sweetness, perhaps from honey. I was impressed by the affordable prices ($14.50 for a regular plate with a generous serving of four large ribs, $11 for a regular plate with two large bone-in chicken thighs). We were able to get G Town Catering to provide the after-game meal for the Wahine basketball Team. We had about a week to find and secure a Caterer so we were very happy that G Town was available. Because the girls were in a Tournament, we estimated when theyd be ready to eat. But because their game ended early, we called G Town to see if they could deliver earlier.
