Our group loved the mix of classic and locally inspired pupu. Example: Brie cheese Mac nut wonton with tropical marmalde, caprese skewers with balsamic drizzle, kalbi with kimchee aioli - so, so ono! The mini cheesecake bites were truly eye candy and super-tasty. My colleagues all wanted to know how we found this gem of a catering service. I had the very fortunate opportunity of attending an event catered by the catering connection. Not only was the food amazing, the mixed drinks were delish and the waitstaff was exceptional. The event I attended was at Waioli tea room in Manoa. Waioli tea room is not an easy place to set up for an event because it is literally a house. However, tcc did a great job of spreading the food out in a way that wasn't awkward and there was never a line for food. Pupus included cheese wontons with super delicious fruit chutney, one of the best crispy gau gee I've ever had, chicken skewers and sliced beef bites atop crackers spread with horseradish aioli and sautéed onions. As if that wasn't enough, dinner consisted of Caesar salad, spinach salad, fried rice, fish, pork and a carving station. For dessert, we had freshly made malasadas, shave ice, bread pudding and fresh fruit cocktail. Soooo yum! Waioli tea room can't host events with alcohol, but that didn't stop TCC. They made custom non alcoholic beverages and floats. Everything was just so delicious, both the food and the drinks! I can't even imagine how great their alcoholic cocktails must taste. The cherry on the cake was definitely the friendly and attentive waitstaff. Someone was always there to offer me a beverage, take my empty plates. Every person on the staff seemed to want to be there and enjoy what they were doing. They executed their responsibilities efficiently and with smiles on their faces. Much love goes out to everyone of Catering Connection who helped with ALL of our wedding celebrations last month in Honolulu!!! :D From proposals all the way through to partying hard at the end of the wedding night, CC and their amazing staff brought their 'A game' and made our entire wedding experience pure bliss!!! Lei is the best!!! She was so attentive to my every need and want during the planning stages. She would respond to my emails and phone calls with the utmost promptness, and always had answers for all my questions (as ridiculous as some of them may have been!) She helped me pinpoint what I was envisioning, and in the end, delivered exactly that, and then some!!! She made sure all the details were taken care of. Things I would have never even thought of!! She also really helped me budget my expenses too, which my husband and I (and our bank account) cannot thank her enough for. All her recommendations were solid and we completely trust her opinion. Event: Wedding Breakfast Date: Friday, June 20th 2014 WOOOW!! The Catering Connection was AMAZING in all aspects of dealing with them! From their QUICK replies & follow ups...to their super ONOlicious food! They worked with our budget & even helped create a breakfast menu for us even though they don't normally cater breakfast events. My family also caters for a living and they are definitely a TOUGH crowd to please when we don't use them...but they absolutely LOVEd the food! They even agreed that we should definitely use The Catering Connection for future events. It wasn't just my tough-family who enjoyed the food, but literally every guest complimented & raved about it as well. The portions were generous too! This review is based on customer service and timely responses. I was tasked to set up a last-minute intimate function and have called multiple catering companies. Majority (if not all of them) of the catering companies I contacted did not respond or gave me the run-around. When I called The Catering Connection, Sherese (Leong) answered the phone. I let her know of my situation and what I needed. She stated she would check with which chef would be available and call me back by 12pm. As promised, she responded quickly with the information I needed. I called her and provided the choices for the menu items. She was patient with me and went over what else was needed for the event. She was even willing to meet me on-site to solidify layout and what else we could use. Unfortunately, our meeting was changed and we no longer needed to use their service. I really appreciated Sherese's quick response and willingness to work with me and my million questions. She really helped ease the anxiety of planning the event. I had the catering connection cater to my destination wedding on March 26,2016. My husband and I are from Las Vegas and decided to have our wedding on North Shore, HI. The whole process of booking, planning, menu planning and day of event was beyond more then i can ever ask for. We hired the catering connection for the whole shaabang. food, service,chairs and tables.They were GREAT! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE!!!! We had about 73 people at our wedding which is above average for a destination wedding. A blessing to us which meant we had to adjust our budget a little. We all know how picky elders can be, so we are crossing our fingers the whole time. During dinner we got all positive feeds backs, the prime rib was moist and flavorful, the chicken was also moist, the rice and grilled veggies were nice and warm. DAY of event, they came promptly on time. Being the bride myself I barely saw or had to boss any of the staff around. They knew where to go, what to do and when to do it. Prior to selecting The Catering Connection (TCC) for my event, I contacted 2 other catering companies to request for information and pricing. The reason why I choose Catering Connection was because I received a same-day response to my questions (whereas it took a couple days for the other companies to respond). I knew that their promptness would set the precedent for any future interaction with the company and I was right. TCC helped me with a 40'x40' stage, lighting, event staff and food for a university dedication event with guests that included donors, elected officials, industry leaders, school staff and honored students and their parents. WOW! I can't say enough about this company. We booked them for our wedding on relatively short notice (a couple of months) and crafted a menu and venue design quickly and efficiently. We used them for catering, tables and chairs, place settings, serving staff, etc. The wedding was held in our yard so they had to customize everything to our location from food prep to serving. We worked easily with Sarah and the team for planning and then had an incredible experience with the wedding day crew from setup and serving and then breakdown. I can't say enough about how well everything went on the day of the event. I just want to call out some of the perfect details: - The setup crew showed up exactly on time even though it was a holiday weekend with lot of traffic. - The set up was fast and efficient. Joel was awesome and made me feel so comfortable with the process. - Again, the serving staff showed up right on time and completed the preparations perfectly - Ryan was the perfect "Captain", and truly made an impression on everyone at the party. - Even though we didn't have time to enjoy the food as much as the guests, we loved it. Everyone raved about the food from the appetizers through the desserts. - Lastly, breakdown went just as smoothly and after a very long day, everyone one of the staff was still smiling when they left. - And, in true Aloha fashion I got goodbye hugs from the staff and congratulations. The Catering Connection went above and beyond their duties! The day before our wedding it was storming and our original location was outside (on the beach) and under a tent. They called to walk us through backup plans and offered a few different options. We found a new location and had to move our wedding the day before, which was stressful but I don't think there are other vendors that would care or go through the extra effort to ensure we had a fabulous wedding. The day-of turned out to be perfect and although we were scrambling a bit in the morning to work with a new venue/layout - everything turned out beautifully. First off, I am not sure if there is really anything I can say that can describe our satisfaction with The Catering Connection! They made our whole wedding experience completely smooth and stress free(besides some normal crazy bride stressing:-) But The Catering Connection is truly a one stop shop!! We really had no idea how good of a decision we were making at first going with them, until our first meeting with Ashley. She made us feel extremely comfortable and started taking care of details immediately. After we chose our menu, decor, and rentals, Vanessa worked closer with us on the timeline and details of the day. We chose to have them do our rentals, food, and day of coordination. The day of coordination is a definite must have!!! Looking back I can't even imagine how my day would've gone not having Ashley and Vanessa there taking care of all the details! The food was great, exactly what we chose at our tasting. But what was even more impressive was the serving staff the day of the wedding! They were professional, polite, and personable to me and my guests! Definitely 5 star service!! Their prices are very reasonable! We did lots and lots of research on companies for food and rentals, and the Catering Connections rentals always came in just a little bit lower than most on the island. They even ordered in a tent liner JUST FOR US!!! Catering Connections is an unbelievable company and a dream to work with for a bride. Our contact was Sarah and she was just fabulous. She responded to emails and text messages quickly and made changes immediately. Sarah was always helpful, kind, and never seemed bothered by the ever changing requests from us. For example we had guests cancel on us last minute, which changed the number of items we needed to rent and changed the table arrangements. Sarah created wonderful layouts of our wedding venue with our design of what we would having for our tables, tent, cocktail hour, dancing, and dessert. Every time a change was made, she made changes to the layout. We rented tables, linens, table settings, glassware, picked our chef (Chef Grant Si m- phenomenal!!) through CC, and used their bartenders and servers. Everything was absolutely beautiful, well executed, and the guests raved about very aspect CC was apart of. They are well worth the money, as from the time we booked with CC 8 months or so before our wedding, we were in constant contact with Sarah. Sarah joined us for our two tastings, took copious notes and asked wonderful questions about our food preferences. She also made great suvvestiond, as to what would make a great menu. We sent out several requests for proposals, and only Lei from The Catering Connection responded the same day. I worked with David and Lei at The Catering Connection and they made things just 'click' on our wedding day. I must have sent 50 emails to David and he always wrote back right away, always with the right answer for a stressed bride! We ordered a 30x30 tent and 90 chairs from them and they were on-time, professional and easy to get in touch with. Our ceremony location shut down at 5pm and TCC said as long as it was fine with the venue spot, they could get the chairs and tent the following day. About a week before our event, I called and requested 10 fewer chairs...they said "no problem" and didn't charge us for them (as they shouldn't but most places would probably say "that was what you signed for..blah blah"). All in all, they were affordable and easy to deal with...two big pluses when planning a wedding. read more

My co-workers went with Tanioka's; we ended up with Da Spot (they are a restaurant but we know one of the managers and he's able to help us out on short notice). We had previously eaten with Chef Kathi Saks, which will run you just under the cost of Catering Connection (about $100 per head) but it includes the staff, hand-passed apps, and a plated dinner which is truly one of the best meals we've ever eaten--choice of exceptional entrees, a signature cocktail, and dessert. Chef Kathi was out of our budget, but she had phenomenal service, is a true chef, and she sent us home with left-overs! We'd eat that lillikoi butter on like, cardboard. Our site was in a natural area that had nothing at all but forest, flowers, and a gorgeous view. No problem for Catering connection. We planned an excellent menu with them for 60, including two celiac guests, all to be prepared fresh out in a tent under the sky. CC spent a lot of time with me getting the menu just right. The food tasted AWESOME! Our guests were about 50% mainland and 50% local and I got really nice compliments from everyone. We also had an elaborate cookie table (a hometown wedding tradition for me but not so easy in tropical weather). CC went the extra mile to get it to happen without melting or other major mishap. Catering Connection is a major reason why our wedding was a success. Of the companies on my list, Catering Connection was always prompt in responding to calls and emails, have many years of experience thus a wealth of information. This company is busy all through the year yet Bruce and Lei were very friendly and there isn't a question or request that they will not be happy to oblige. My guests still have not stopped complimenting me how delicious the food served at the wedding was! They were extremely professional throughout the entire process. They responded promptly to all my questions and emails so I was not concerned about the distance and time difference. One of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding was choosing Catering Connection as our caterer. We had the pleasure of working closely with Philippe there. From the first time we met Philippe, he immediately made us feel comfortable and made us feel our menu and catering details would be a collaborative experience. Philippe was extremely knowledgeable about what is popular and in season, what set-up works well with our venue and was open to a few special requests we had. The tasting they supplied was so impressive and professional. I could tell just by the service we received prior to even tasting the food that Catering Connection would be a great choice. But then, when we tasted the food, there were no questions asked. Everything was delicious, cooked perfectly and the presentation was beautiful! My husband wasn't able to make our first tasting so Philippe kindly offered to do a tasting just for him. We live in Berkeley but chose to get married in Santa Barbara because of the history we have there. It was a little nerve-racking at first planning an out of town wedding but with Philippe (in addition to the other amazing vendors we worked with), I had no worries. The food at the wedding was just as I remember it from the tasting...which can be very rare (coming from a corporate event planner). Our wedding was in April and even up to last week, I received a note about how great the wedding was and how GOOD THE FOOD WAS!! In addition to the food, the service was top notch. Service was a huge hot button for me and the Catering Connection team blew me away. They made my husband and I feel like VIPs and I witnessed them take good care of our guests all night long. Philippe also worked with my mom to surprise us with a family recipe for our late night snack which was so special! We actually spoke to The Catering Connection and another catering company to cater our wedding of 30 people. I immediately noticed how quickly they responded to my emails and follow up questions and were always willing to work within our budget. Ally was a pleasure to work with and was really accommodating to our needs. The service the day of was amazing! I was in shock at the amount of precision and care they provided for us! They actually helped me find lighting as well, which was crucial for our wedding decor in addition to providing their amazing staff and delicious food for the day as well. My husband & I decided to have our wedding in Hawaii because he went to school at UH and I had never been. Being from San Diego it was definitely stressful to choose a caterer for our big day from a distance. The Catering Connection (mainly Allison) was immediately responsive and helped guide me to make the best choices within my budget. I met with Allison and the woman who would be coordinating the day of, Kalea, the day before to look over the property I had chosen for the wedding location. Kalea came up with some great ideas for setting up the rentals and layout of the property, and I was immediately relieved to know that she would be there the next day to coordinate the timing & food. The day of my wedding they showed up on time, the food and service was excellent, and the house was left spotless after they had left. I could not say enough good things about the Kalea and the wait staff. They were very assertive, genuinely friendly, and always seemed a step ahead. My guests were in love with all of the food choices and we are still talking about (and craving) some of the appetizers. Bruce, Lei, and Kalani with The Catering Connection are absolutely awesome!! I work for Le Jardin Academy in Kailua, and we hold a fundraising gala every year at our school. We've used The Catering Connection for the past two years for our various table, linen, and food needs, and they're professional, detailed, thorough, easy to work with, and VERY accomodating. They do a preliminary meeting/walk through to understand the needs of the event. They provide an itemized list of items needed and are good about making adjustments to fit our budget. We're usually always down to the wire with our table sales and guest count, but The Catering Connection gang is always so patient and flexible. They just take care of everything...I nevery have to worry about a thing. They completely handle set-up and break-down...I never have to lift a finger, and it's done with great detail. The servers and staff are friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food is always SO good, plentiful, and presented in a beautiful way.
