Absolutely wonderful experience! We have worked with The Catering Connection in the past two years for an annual UHM event. Sherese and her team are fantastic. Our group loved the mix of classic and locally inspired pupu. Example: Brie cheese Mac nut wonton with tropical marmalde, caprese skewers with balsamic drizzle, kalbi with kimchee aioli - so, so ono! The mini cheesecake bites were truly eye candy and super-tasty. My colleagues all wanted to know how we found this gem of a catering service. Last year, our budget was so limited that we had almost given up on finding a catering service that would work with us. Not The Catering Connection. They helped us have a spread of six different appetizers, all beautifully presented, delicious, and creative with our limited resources. If you want to support a local family business with your event, don't look any further. This place is professional, service-oriented, and genuinely nice. You will be in the best hands with Sherese and her team! read more

Whatever your event, you need to use this company! We used them for our wedding yesterday! Great family-owned and operated business who took extra good care of all of our details! Besides the food catering, they arranged the tent, table and chair rentals. Such friendly service and high-end professionalism. We even had a slight problem that couldn't be remedied so they discounted their services to help us out! I would use them again in a heartbeat! Food was beyond delicious, service was impeccable and their friendly owners and staff made it even more spectacular! Thank you, "The Catering Connection" 'Ohana! read more

I had the very fortunate opportunity of attending an event catered by the catering connection. Not only was the food amazing, the mixed drinks were delish and the waitstaff was exceptional. The event I attended was at Waioli tea room in Manoa. Waioli tea room is not an easy place to set up for an event because it is literally a house. However, tcc did a great job of spreading the food out in a way that wasn't awkward and there was never a line for food. Pupus included cheese wontons with super delicious fruit chutney, one of the best crispy gau gee I've ever had, chicken skewers and sliced beef bites atop crackers spread with horseradish aioli and sautéed onions. As if that wasn't enough, dinner consisted of Caesar salad, spinach salad, fried rice, fish, pork and a carving station. For dessert, we had freshly made malasadas, shave ice, bread pudding and fresh fruit cocktail. Soooo yum! Waioli tea room can't host events with alcohol, but that didn't stop TCC. They made custom non alcoholic beverages and floats. Everything was just so delicious, both the food and the drinks! I can't even imagine how great their alcoholic cocktails must taste. The cherry on the cake was definitely the friendly and attentive waitstaff. Someone was always there to offer me a beverage, take my empty plates. Every person on the staff seemed to want to be there and enjoy what they were doing. They executed their responsibilities efficiently and with smiles on their faces. I can't say enough about how amazed I was with my experience at this event by TCC. I can't wait to plan my life events to include everything they have to offer :) read more

Much love goes out to everyone of Catering Connection who helped with ALL of our wedding celebrations last month in Honolulu!!! :D From proposals all the way through to partying hard at the end of the wedding night, CC and their amazing staff brought their 'A game' and made our entire wedding experience pure bliss!!! Lei is the best!!! She was so attentive to my every need and want during the planning stages. She would respond to my emails and phone calls with the utmost promptness, and always had answers for all my questions (as ridiculous as some of them may have been!) She helped me pinpoint what I was envisioning, and in the end, delivered exactly that, and then some!!! She made sure all the details were taken care of. Things I would have never even thought of!! She also really helped me budget my expenses too, which my husband and I (and our bank account) cannot thank her enough for. All her recommendations were solid and we completely trust her opinion. The gal knows what she is talking about!!!! I honestly didn't have to worry about a thing, just get on my makeup, do my hair, get into my dress, and walk down the aisle... without fainting!!!! Hahaha, they took care of the rest!!! The whole night, they were so accommodating to my husband and I, always making sure I had a drink in my hand (that's what I'm talkin' about!! hehe), appetizers in my mouth, dinner servings on my plate, and seconds and thirds of our wedding cake. :P They made it SO EASY for us to simply enjoy ourselves, and enjoy our time with our friends and family. Set up to break down, everyone was so professional, so nice, accommodating, friendly, attentive, and PERFECT!! We love you guys!! I also really appreciated that the company owner Bruce took the time out of his busy schedule to be at our ceremony to greet me!! Your customer service is one of a kind ;) Thank you. Our family also inadvertently hired Catering Connection for a family get together at our Uncle's house in Diamond Head a few days before the wedding. So funny to come over and see the same folks that were going to be helping us at the wedding!! I was EXTRA excited for our big day, because we got to 'sample' their goods at the party, and everything was soooooo yummy!! They offer such a wide selection of different types of food, that we didn't have any duplicate items at the party or the wedding! We couldn't have done it without the help, professionalism and experience of Catering Connection. Thank you guys soo, sooo much. My husband and I give them the highest accolades for their work, and we can't thank them enough for all they did for us!!!! read more

Event: Wedding Breakfast Date: Friday, June 20th 2014 WOOOW!! The Catering Connection was AMAZING in all aspects of dealing with them! From their QUICK replies & follow ups...to their super ONOlicious food! They worked with our budget & even helped create a breakfast menu for us even though they don't normally cater breakfast events. My family also caters for a living and they are definitely a TOUGH crowd to please when we don't use them...but they absolutely LOVEd the food! They even agreed that we should definitely use The Catering Connection for future events. It wasn't just my tough-family who enjoyed the food, but literally every guest complimented & raved about it as well. The portions were generous too! Enough for everyone to make several trips through the buffet AND even eat more for lunch too! Definitely a PLUS for us local eaters! Hahaha... Sean was also a great help as well...not only did he setup the buffet, but he even helped us set the tables for the guest as well! Wow! Talk about above & beyond!!! We LOVE The Catering Connection & have no issue recommending them or using them in the future :-) read more

I had the catering connection cater to my destination wedding on March 26,2016. My husband and I are from Las Vegas and decided to have our wedding on North Shore, HI. The whole process of booking, planning, menu planning and day of event was beyond more then i can ever ask for. We hired the catering connection for the whole shaabang. food, service, chairs and tables. They were GREAT! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE!!!! We had about 73 people at our wedding which is above average for a destination wedding. A blessing to us which meant we had to adjust our budget a little. The catering connection helped us stay within budget without any judgment. Sarah *Sweetest girl youll ever talk to* advised and help me stay stress free every step of the way. Planning a wedding from another state was hard but with how organize the catering connection was they got the work done. Sarah really knows how to keep her clients at ease. We had chef Grants food menu and the feedback from our guest was all positive remarks. I was actually really nervous about this because my husband and I are from a traditional Vietnamese background. We all know how picky elders can be, so we are crossing our fingers the whole time. We chose foods that were relatively close to what they were use to, fish, rice, Asian pear salad and a few other meats. During dinner we got all positive feeds backs, the prime rib was moist and flavorful, the chicken was also moist, the rice and grilled veggies were nice and warm. Everything was just amazing, even a little surprise for the kids they provided chicken nuggets. I wasnt expecting them to provide that , which was a nice little gesture. DAY of event, they came promptly on time. Being the bride myself I barely saw or had to boss any of the staff around. They knew where to go, what to do and when to do it. They made sure I had water when needed, if i needed anything they were there to cater to my husband and I. We had a buffet style dinner but my guest still felt the luxury of being catered to. Friendly staff and amazing service deserves another 5 stars on its own. On behalf of my whole wedding guest and family and husband. THANK YOU CATERING CONNECTION for making our special day so special and memorable for us. read more

This review is based on customer service and timely responses. I was tasked to set up a last-minute intimate function and have called multiple catering companies. Majority (if not all of them) of the catering companies I contacted did not respond or gave me the run-around. When I called The Catering Connection, Sherese (Leong) answered the phone. I let her know of my situation and what I needed. She stated she would check with which chef would be available and call me back by 12pm. As promised, she responded quickly with the information I needed. I called her and provided the choices for the menu items. She was patient with me and went over what else was needed for the event. She was even willing to meet me on-site to solidify layout and what else we could use. Unfortunately, our meeting was changed and we no longer needed to use their service. I really appreciated Sherese's quick response and willingness to work with me and my million questions. She really helped ease the anxiety of planning the event. I'm sure we may have an event we would need catering services and I will definitely think of The Catering Connections first! read more

If you're looking for a caterer, go with Grant. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and he even drove out to help us with some liquor logistics. The food was hands down amazing and exceeded our expectations (prime rib, poke, crab stuffed shrimp and more). Thank you so much Grant!!! read more

Prior to selecting The Catering Connection (TCC) for my event, I contacted 2 other catering companies to request for information and pricing. The reason why I choose Catering Connection was because I received a same-day response to my questions (whereas it took a couple days for the other companies to respond). I knew that their promptness would set the precedent for any future interaction with the company and I was right. TCC helped me with a 40'x40' stage, lighting, event staff and food for a university dedication event with guests that included donors, elected officials, industry leaders, school staff and honored students and their parents. We locals love our food and it's important to make sure our guests are over-fed. That evening, guests raved about the quality of the food! Winnahz!! I can't praise Bruce, TCC owner, and his staff enough. I don't think I waited longer than 12 hours to receive a response to any questions I had. They were patient with my many questions, changes and additions. They made planning an event less stressful. read more

The Catering Connection went above and beyond their duties! The day before our wedding it was storming and our original location was outside (on the beach) and under a tent. They called to walk us through backup plans and offered a few different options. We found a new location and had to move our wedding the day before, which was stressful but I don't think there are other vendors that would care or go through the extra effort to ensure we had a fabulous wedding. The day-of turned out to be perfect and although we were scrambling a bit in the morning to work with a new venue/layout - everything turned out beautifully. Every single staff member was extremely attentive and always had a smile. Our guests were impressed with not only the service provided but the food was excellent as well. They were simply amazing! :) read more

WOW! I can't say enough about this company. We booked them for our wedding on relatively short notice (a couple of months) and crafted a menu and venue design quickly and efficiently. We used them for catering, tables and chairs, place settings, serving staff, etc. The wedding was held in our yard so they had to customize everything to our location from food prep to serving. We worked easily with Sarah and the team for planning and then had an incredible experience with the wedding day crew from setup and serving and then breakdown. I can't say enough about how well everything went on the day of the event. I just want to call out some of the perfect details: - The setup crew showed up exactly on time even though it was a holiday weekend with lot of traffic. - The set up was fast and efficient. Joel was awesome and made me feel so comfortable with the process. - Again, the serving staff showed up right on time and completed the preparations perfectly - Ryan was the perfect "Captain", and truly made an impression on everyone at the party. - Even though we didn't have time to enjoy the food as much as the guests, we loved it. Everyone raved about the food from the appetizers through the desserts. - Lastly, breakdown went just as smoothly and after a very long day, everyone one of the staff was still smiling when they left. - And, in true Aloha fashion I got goodbye hugs from the staff and congratulations. All in all, they made a special day even more special. Mahala, mahalo, mahalo - keep up the good work. read more

Chef Grant is amazing! He and his team catered for our wedding and it turned out perfect. People were talking about his prime rib for days! Everyone had a favorite but I think the kalua pig wonton were mine. He also went above and beyond with suggestions and recommendations for many other aspects of our wedding that made things go much smoother. Easy to work with, and great food. I highly recommend Chef Grant to everyone! read more

First off, I am not sure if there is really anything I can say that can describe our satisfaction with The Catering Connection! They made our whole wedding experience completely smooth and stress free(besides some normal crazy bride stressing:-) But The Catering Connection is truly a one stop shop!! We really had no idea how good of a decision we were making at first going with them, until our first meeting with Ashley. She made us feel extremely comfortable and started taking care of details immediately. After we chose our menu, decor, and rentals, Vanessa worked closer with us on the timeline and details of the day. We chose to have them do our rentals, food, and day of coordination. The day of coordination is a definite must have!!! Looking back I can't even imagine how my day would've gone not having Ashley and Vanessa there taking care of all the details! The food was great, exactly what we chose at our tasting. But what was even more impressive was the serving staff the day of the wedding! They were professional, polite, and personable to me and my guests! Definitely 5 star service!! Their prices are very reasonable! We did lots and lots of research on companies for food and rentals, and the Catering Connections rentals always came in just a little bit lower than most on the island. They even ordered in a tent liner JUST FOR US!!! Vanessa as our Day of Coordinator was at my hotel room bright and early at 9AM with our cinemaphotographer with a big smile and a Happy Wedding Day Hug!! :-) Throughout the whole day Ashley and Vanessa never stopped!! I did not get ONE phone call from a vendor with questions, and still to this day I don't know if anything went wrong, because I am sure if something did, Ashley and Vanessa took care of it, instead of bothering me and stressing me out!! They even picked up all of our rose petals BY HAND outside of our chapel to avoid us having to pay a $250.00 cleaning fee!! Their service went above an beyond!! Vanessa even sewed on a crystal that fell off my dress in the middle of my reception! Immediately after my ceremony they "created" a bustle on my dress for me(the one sewn in wasn't working!) Once again, I don't really think I have words to explain how really amazing the company is! Just don't even think about it, they will take care of your every need!! read more

Really good response time, good feedback when asked questions, friendly, patient, menu looks good with lots of options and flexibility. I liked that they were able to give us a rough estimate of cost right away after they prepared a tentative menu and equipment rental invoice. Haven't actually tasted any of the food yet. Will likely update at a later date. P.S. My fiance is awesome. I don't like talking on the phone and negotiating, so he always does it for the both of us! read more

The people from our wedding site recommended us The Catering Connection. They already put emphasis on how great their service was, so we couldn't ignore but contact them. Prior to the day, we have exchanged emails so many times changing details till the last minute. I'm the typical worried-about-everything bride, but they blew me by providing the service way beyond our expectation. Not only they make your set-up perfectly and take care of your guests, but they do care about YOU! Maybe you feel that hiring a caterer costs so much, but you will know how much more they provide and deserve more of the price and our appreciation. Thank you, all the staff of The Catering Connection to make our day PERFECT! read more

The Catering Connection did my wedding at my new house that we hadn't even occupied yet! Bruce put together a perfect wedding with musicians, valet, wait service, bar & bar tender, tables, chairs, etc. He can do anything! Catering Connections is an unbelievable company and a dream to work with for a bride. Our contact was Sarah and she was just fabulous. She responded to emails and text messages quickly and made changes immediately. Sarah was always helpful, kind, and never seemed bothered by the ever changing requests from us. For example we had guests cancel on us last minute, which changed the number of items we needed to rent and changed the table arrangements. Sarah created wonderful layouts of our wedding venue with our design of what we would having for our tables, tent, cocktail hour, dancing, and dessert. Every time a change was made, she made changes to the layout. We rented tables, linens, table settings, glassware, picked our chef (Chef Grant Si m- phenomenal!!) through CC, and used their bartenders and servers. Everything was absolutely beautiful, well executed, and the guests raved about very aspect CC was apart of. They are well worth the money, as from the time we booked with CC 8 months or so before our wedding, we were in constant contact with Sarah. Sarah joined us for our two tastings, took copious notes and asked wonderful questions about our food preferences. She also made great suvvestiond, as to what would make a great menu. The owner of the company was also present at our wedding, which was nice to see that he wanted to ensure the quality of the services were up to his expectations. I will recommend catering connections, Sarah, and Grant Sim for any event!! read more

The Catering Connection catered my wedding at Kualoa Ranch in March 2019. In addition to being extremely helpful before the event, they were fantastic on the day and served an incredible feast for our guests. The staff at The Catering Connection helped us to have an absolutely wonderful office blessing last week! We are SO grateful for their professional, efficient and friendly service. We sent out several requests for proposals, and only Lei from The Catering Connection responded the same day. Throughout the planning process, she remained very responsive - making suggestions, negotiating the contract and answering every silly question we had. The night of our event, Wes and Jose were AWESOME!! I swear, those two guys made it seem like a staff of 5 was working the event - they were all over the place, filling glasses, clearing plates, replenishing food... They made it possible for me to actually be a part of the event, when I had anticipated working the whole night! I noticed that all of the other reviews for The Catering Connection were for weddings, but rest assured that they can do it all. At a very reasonable cost, too - my boss saw the final bill and exclaimed, "Is that all?!" He thought for sure that for such awesome food and service, we paid much, much more! Both times it was so smooth and exceeded my expectations!! Thank u for doing such a beautiful job for both special occasions in our lives!! read more

I worked with David and Lei at The Catering Connection and they made things just 'click' on our wedding day. I must have sent 50 emails to David and he always wrote back right away, always with the right answer for a stressed bride! We ordered a 30x30 tent and 90 chairs from them and they were on-time, professional and easy to get in touch with. Our ceremony location shut down at 5pm and TCC said as long as it was fine with the venue spot, they could get the chairs and tent the following day. About a week before our event, I called and requested 10 fewer chairs...they said "no problem" and didn't charge us for them (as they shouldn't but most places would probably say "that was what you signed for..blah blah"). All in all, they were affordable and easy to deal with...two big pluses when planning a wedding. read more

My co-workers went with Tanioka's; we ended up with Da Spot (they are a restaurant but we know one of the managers and he's able to help us out on short notice). We had previously eaten with Chef Kathi Saks, which will run you just under the cost of Catering Connection (about $100 per head) but it includes the staff, hand-passed apps, and a plated dinner which is truly one of the best meals we've ever eaten--choice of exceptional entrees, a signature cocktail, and dessert. Chef Kathi was out of our budget, but she had phenomenal service, is a true chef, and she sent us home with left-overs! We'd eat that lillikoi butter on like, cardboard. We also love Kahai Street Kitchen and the Pig and the Lady, from past events. read more

I was recommended through my venue to get in touch with Sarah at this company and I don't blame the venue for her treatment towards me. At first it seemed like she was all in to work with our budget and when she emailed me the estimate it was WAY over what I sent to her. Then I wanted to see if I could make some adjustments and she said that she didn't think they could help. I understand that you all have a business to run but that is not very helpful or professional to basically kick us to the curb. She also took weeks to email me back. Totally rude and unprofessional. read more

Bruce and his team worked with my budget and made recommendations that helped my $$ go as far as possible. Sarah at Catering Connection helped us plan the most incredible wedding feast, from the ground up! Literally! Our site was in a natural area that had nothing at all but forest, flowers, and a gorgeous view. No problem for Catering connection. We planned an excellent menu with them for 60, including two celiac guests, all to be prepared fresh out in a tent under the sky. Their food was, to quote our guests, "the best wedding meal we have ever had" and "holy moly have you tried the Saimen bar?!." The food was superb and the wait staff and bartender were amazing and very sweet! Communication was very easy with Allison, even with the 6 hour time difference. Catering Connection did a great job with our wedding! We wanted a casual event with heavy pupus/food stations to facilitate people moving and meeting each other. CC spent a lot of time with me getting the menu just right. The food tasted AWESOME! Our guests were about 50% mainland and 50% local and I got really nice compliments from everyone. We also had an elaborate cookie table (a hometown wedding tradition for me but not so easy in tropical weather). CC went the extra mile to get it to happen without melting or other major mishap. Guests took home the cookies as party favors. If we had to do it all over again, would still choose Catering Connection. read more

Two key ingredients in a wedding are location and food. My wife and I wanted an outdoor wedding with an elegant yet relaxed attitude in the summer. Catering Connection is a major reason why our wedding was a success. Of the companies on my list, Catering Connection was always prompt in responding to calls and emails, have many years of experience thus a wealth of information. This company is busy all through the year yet Bruce and Lei were very friendly and there isn't a question or request that they will not be happy to oblige. We made multiple revisions to the menu, tents, etc and Lei was very friendly and professional. Many of our guests have commented on how great the food tasted. Even those who have been to previous weddings at the same location but with a different caterer have commented on how they'll remember our wedding because of the food. Catering Connection created an elegant atmosphere and their staff were very professional on the day of. Their website will give you and idea of how fancy your wedding can be. I was embarassed at first because I'm a local boy and not used to having someone there to serve me whatever I wanted. I appreciated it after all of the photos ops and having to mingle with all guests drained all of my energy and needed my plate and drink hot and ready. Any company a couple chooses will charge a price. Wouldn't you want to go with one that is of greatest value? Choose Catering Connection read more

One of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding was choosing Catering Connection as our caterer. We had the pleasure of working closely with Philippe there. From the first time we met Philippe, he immediately made us feel comfortable and made us feel our menu and catering details would be a collaborative experience. Philippe was extremely knowledgeable about what is popular and in season, what set-up works well with our venue and was open to a few special requests we had. The tasting they supplied was so impressive and professional. I could tell just by the service we received prior to even tasting the food that Catering Connection would be a great choice. But then, when we tasted the food, there were no questions asked. Everything was delicious, cooked perfectly and the presentation was beautiful! My husband wasn't able to make our first tasting so Philippe kindly offered to do a tasting just for him. We live in Berkeley but chose to get married in Santa Barbara because of the history we have there. It was a little nerve-racking at first planning an out of town wedding but with Philippe (in addition to the other amazing vendors we worked with), I had no worries. The food at the wedding was just as I remember it from the tasting...which can be very rare (coming from a corporate event planner). Our wedding was in April and even up to last week, I received a note about how great the wedding was and how GOOD THE FOOD WAS!! In addition to the food, the service was top notch. Service was a huge hot button for me and the Catering Connection team blew me away. They made my husband and I feel like VIPs and I witnessed them take good care of our guests all night long. Philippe also worked with my mom to surprise us with a family recipe for our late night snack which was so special! I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed working with Catering Connection and Philippe. They made such a huge impact on how successful and enjoyable our wedding was. Thank you endlessly, Philippe! read more

My guests still have not stopped complimenting me how delicious the food served at the wedding was! They were extremely professional throughout the entire process. They responded promptly to all my questions and emails so I was not concerned about the distance and time difference. I was lucky enough to be able to attend a tasting before my wedding and Bruce and his staff were extremely kind and professional. They were very detailed-oriented and wanted to check how I wanted the food to be served etc. I'm still drooling over their live-action malasada, lechon (pig), and many other dishes they served. Bruce was so thoughtful and kind - he actually brought over food to us to make sure we were eating all the food! (NO regrets there!) I HIGHLY recommend using Catering Connection if you still haven't decided on your caterer to your wedding! read more

My husband & I decided to have our wedding in Hawaii because he went to school at UH and I had never been. Being from San Diego it was definitely stressful to choose a caterer for our big day from a distance. The Catering Connection (mainly Allison) was immediately responsive and helped guide me to make the best choices within my budget. I met with Allison and the woman who would be coordinating the day of, Kalea, the day before to look over the property I had chosen for the wedding location. Kalea came up with some great ideas for setting up the rentals and layout of the property, and I was immediately relieved to know that she would be there the next day to coordinate the timing & food. The day of my wedding they showed up on time, the food and service was excellent, and the house was left spotless after they had left. I could not say enough good things about the Kalea and the wait staff. They were very assertive, genuinely friendly, and always seemed a step ahead. My guests were in love with all of the food choices and we are still talking about (and craving) some of the appetizers. Very grateful to have found The Catering Connection and would recommend them over & over again! read more

Bruce, Lei, and Kalani with The Catering Connection are absolutely awesome!! I work for Le Jardin Academy in Kailua, and we hold a fundraising gala every year at our school. We've used The Catering Connection for the past two years for our various table, linen, and food needs, and they're professional, detailed, thorough, easy to work with, and VERY accomodating.
