This is my favourite new brunch spot in Toronto. Really nice variety of healthy, yet tasty items to build a hearty meal from. The Dahl is an absolute must have, as is the delicious avo toast. You can add poached eggs to either, which are done, as you like, to perfection. Oh and the Kale Caesar is beautiful, and perfectly dressed (don't get dressing on the side!). The grilled tofu is one of the best tofu dishes you will ever have. Marinated in a gingery marinade, then grilled, then finished with scallions and such. Also don't forget to try the espresso bar, as well as the cold drinks on tap, like kombucha and house made fresh sodas, very refreshing on a hot day. Decor is pure bliss, very clean yet interesting and calming for that afternoon latte while you read your book in one of the comfy chairs in the seating area. Location is great, just a few steps from St Clair station, off of Yonge St. Must try! read more

I like this restaurant! My husband and I are into clean eating lately and wanted to grab something nice and healthy for a Sunday brunch. We dined in around 11am thinking that it would be crowded if we went closer to noon. We have no trouble getting a table as expected. We had Weekender brunch and California brunch (we wanted to try "pick your combo" but it was available after 11:30 so changed to these two dishes). Both dishes came with fresh and nicely seasoned ingredients and were very refreshing. The portion for Weekender brunch was small for men according to my husband. We will definitely come back to try "pick your combo". read more

A great place to sit and enjoy a book or do some work while also being a good place to enjoy brunch with a friend. The menu has lots of variety and some items change seasonally. read more

I love this place! especially because they have options for any food preference! Also the service is so nice here. Everyone is so polite! And this place is really pretty. read more

this place is a godsend- the area is a bit of a healthy food desert. The red lentil dhal was incredibly flavourful. P.S. the matcha latte comes without sugar! You can have them add honey to it but so grateful it's clean powder first! Love love love read more

Compliments to Mary Be. In my last review I mentioned that the sweet potato fries were often burnt and voila! The next time I was there - not long after I submitted the review - the potatoes were cut in bigger pieces and were perfect. I've returned a number of times since. In fact, Mary Be has easily become my favorite neighbourhood healthy food spot! - and the sweet potatoes are always so delicious and never burnt. Thanks, Mary Be, for considering our reviews. Beyond that, the atmosphere is always so warm and cozy! They have he comfiest couch (shout-out article.com!) and cute welcome decor. Most importantly though, the food is just really nourishing and truly healthy. Love Mary Be! read more

Got the weekender breakfast this morning. Eggs were poached quite well and the two links of turkey sausage were chewy, overcooked and dry, likely sitting on the grill too long. I also had trouble cutting up the dried out roasted sweet potatoes. However, the whole grain toast was filled with pumpkin seeds and very tasty. No ketchup available nor salt or pepper for seasoning, so the food was rather bland. I had expected more flavourful, fresh food for the price overall, even if it was towards the end of the breakfast run. read more

This place is a few steps away from the intersection of St. Clair Ave and Yonge St on the SW side, and St Clair Staion. It's a cute and modern place with a section that can convert into a patio and accessible entrance and unisex bathroom. I went with my friend and were both able to find something good that fit our dietary restrictions. They have a good selection of vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options. There are a lot of healthy greens in each dish, even if you order a meat/fish dish. You order at the counter and take a number to any table you want and the food is served to you. It is a bit expensive, so I wouldn't come here regularly. The food is also bit bland but overall good. Also keep in mind that this is a true brunch place and closes at 3pm on Saturdays. read more

If you want fresh and healthy food with a focus on flavour AND value then look no further than Mary Be. This restaurant is an yummy well-designed oasis in the sea of utter culinary mediocrity that is Yonge/St Clair (Kwan and Holy Chuck excepted but if those are your go-to's I feel for your waistline and your heart). As far as wait times go they literally opened last week. It takes time to work out the kinks. Small price to pay for this neighbourhood treasure which is perfect for busy working people and their families. I can jump off the TTC and get perfectly cooked chicken with spicy quinoa salad and creamy mint-lemon yogurt beets on my way home for $14.95 or I can feed my entire family of four for $50 all in. It's genius. As for the comments about kids/noise give me a break. Tons of kids living in this area. Two major public elementary schools just blocks away. What do you expect? As a parent it's nice to finally have a place that welcomes little people for brunch. And likening the inside of Mary Be Kitchen to a McDonalds is grossly unfair (in terms of both food and design). Other than the fact that they are both restaurants that sometimes have kids in them they could not be more different. read more

One of the new hip and trendy locations along the St. Clair Corridor! Place has amazing decor, atmosphere, and service... but was overall disappointed with the food. Admittedly I haven't ordered much from there. Got the 2 side orders for ~$11.00, and chose the broccoli and cauliflower. My order got lost somehow which added about 10 minutes to my wait, which doesn't seem like much, but when you're on a 45 minute break, is a quarter of my lunch! For the broccoli, they gave me 4 florets. 4. They were large, granted, but when it comes to broccoli, the larger the size, the harder the stock. Also because it was undercooked, the stock was all but inedible. The flavours weren't pronounced other than the char they had on the leaf side. Cauliflower was much better, but didn't appeal to my tastes, so I won't comment on it. Portions were a little better though. My coworker ordered the soup ($10.95) and didn't look like she got much. Probably about 1 ladle's worth. I will admit I'm not much of a fancy eater. The whole 'organic/gluten free' movement kinda falls flat for me. Hope this place all the best, as they seem to have good intentions! but I doubt I'll be back. read more

I came based on all the yelp reviews. Really cute, open and nice seating area. Gets busy at lunch but it's a nice a place for lunch or brunch. The portions are reasonable and the food quality is really good. I had the Lentil Dahl with rice. It was really good. Would definitely come again for lunch or brunch! read more

Mary Be is a fantastic healthy option in the area. I often find myself grabbing breakfast AND lunch here. The newly expanded breakfast options are awesome - good options for hot breakfast, yogurt, oatmeal and smoothies. The atmosphere and decor are lovely, & food quality is always great. They use good quality ingredients and you can taste the difference. The staff are really lovely and friendly as well. They know me and my regular order by now. I bet most people don't know it but the hot chocolate or mocha is to die for! They use the real thing and it's so much better and richer than powdered hot chocolate from other places. It's my favourite treat. Also lots of options for people with food allergies and restrictions, gluten-free, vegan, etc. read more

I left my first visit to MaryBe very impressed. The owners took a shabby old pizza joint and turned it into a bright, airy and refreshing space. The vibe is perfectly in line with the food & drink offerings that are both healthy and delicious. My colleague and I started off our lunch with fresh lemonade which was the perfect balance of sweet & tart. So refreshing! We shared the roasted sweet potatoes, masala cauliflower, kale & red cabbage caesar and roasted beets as well as the red lentil dahl. Everything was very fresh, hearty and so well composed. My favourites were the cauliflower and the caesar. The best part was that we left feeling full but not gross as everything is so fresh & healthy. I'm looking forward to going back to try some of the other dishes! read more

Pretty good! My husband and I both got the 1 protien + 2 side combo. I got steak (a bit dry/tough), cauliflower (yummy) and avocado (only half an avocado so it was small). My husband made me try his salmon (nice sear, good flavour), and he said his mac&cheese was nice and creamy. Good price for the amount of food. I'd come back for the salmon! read more

I love this place. It's a bit pricey, but it's a good, relatively healthy option for dining and delivery. The food tastes like it has fresh ingredients, and I appreciate that they accommodate my cilantro-aversion. Plus the staff are friendly. read more

Ordered the mac & cheese, Mediterranean salad, and harvest salad. All extremely tasty and we'll definitely order from this restaurant again! read more

I love the concept, the healthy choices are wonderful. I've been here a few times and I just find it to be overpriced for what you get. I usually order a protein and 2 sides (sweet potatoes and cauliflower are my faves) with chicken and although I like it, I feel like I would have no problem making it at home. read more

Got there at 130 pm, and they had finished brunch already (apparently at 1230 pm! early!) so we opted to share 3 sides. We got the chopped salad, the mac n cheese, and the brussels sprouts. Service style: you order and sit down with your number, and they'll bring you the food. Food was really good, good flavours and sharing was a good size for 2 of us. I appreciated that when I was waiting for the main floor bathroom, the person behind the counter let me know that there was another bathroom downstairs (no signage indicating that), really saved me a lot of time! I would go back, it's not in my 'hood at all but it was a really nice spot. Great for dietary restrictions. read more

Finally checked this spot out the other day for dinner as it's located right in my neighbourhood. The inside is very spacious and cute, very refreshing for the Yonge and St.Clair area. There is no wait staff here, just place your order at the counter and place the number sign on your table and the food is brought out to you. It's quite quick and efficient, but I also went on a day that was very quiet. They have a ton of healthy options which is what this place is all about. The prices seem reasonable for a 'healthy' restaurant. My meal was about $17 with taxes in and I got to choose one protein and two sides. I went with the chicken, green salad and roasted sweet potato. The portion was pretty good and the food was of good quality. I really liked the salad and potatoes, but I did think that the chicken was a bit bland. It was tender though and cooked nicely but could've used more seasoning. It comes with a green salsa type sauce but that was a bit bland as well. I will be back here to check out other menu items as well as their breakfast/brunch! read more

Came here for a lunch with friends and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. I got the grilled chicken breast with kale Caesar salad and slaw, and it was really flavourful and everything worked together. While I don't mind paying good money for good quality and heathy food, I thought the price was a bit steep ($15). The portion of chicken was quite small and I finished my meal pretty fast. That being said, I would definitely pop back in for lunch if I'm in the area. read more

We went here for brunch as it was close to the St. Clair subway station and didn't want to walk too far in the rain. It's a cute, earnest hipster place where you order at the counter and your food is brought to the table. Lots of good choices to take the place of the pile o'pork one often finds with breakfast out, such as grilled avocado (really good), smoked salmon (which was really gravlax), kale salad, sourdough toast. Porridge and waffles. Only scrambled or poached eggs. You have to follow their system, but if you do, it's a nice alternative to your typical brunch eggs benny. One complaint was that they food wasn't hot, and it it had been, it would have earned another star. Good vegetarian options. read more

I went for brunch and had avocado toast with a poached egg on top it was delicious the egg could have been more cooked but I did not request it that way and ate it happily. Also had iced coffee. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices read more

After walking by last weekend and looking at the menu, I was excited to finally try Mary Be for brunch on Sunday. I arrived at 10:30 and there were still several empty tables (although by the time I left at 11:10, it was packed). You place your order at the cash and they bring your meal to you making it a hybrid between a full sit down and take out counter/faster food establishment. I can see the appeal during the week given the number of office buildings in the area. For weekend brunch, I would have preferred a true sit down. Now on to the food ... We both ordered the avocado toast with a RUNNY poached egg. The toast was tiny and thin with a smashed browning avocado and half hard/half runny egg. We were both quite hungry at after the toast and egg. The toast (with egg) was about $10. For a meal size toast (as opposed to ordering a toast as a side), it was quite underwhelming I can't say I would rush back despite the menu offering many interesting yet healthy options. read more

In all fairness i have enjoyed previous visits very much - the space is beautiful and the concept lovely. This recent visit though, left me very disappointed - ordered the grilled tofu and it was completely black and burnt - inedible. Couldn't get the taste out of my mouth so it ruined the rest of my order. Some of the sweet potatoes were also burnt. I was surprised the dish was deemed appropriate to leave the kitchen. Also i feel maybe if something is going to be called fresca it should taste similar to fresca? Not sure what the super sweet puree substance was... It wasn't terrible but nothing like fresca! read more

Big fan of this place. I work at the building next door and love coming in here for their healthy and actually really tasty healthy food. Their proteins are solid, but it's their sides that are what pack all the flavour. I've tried almost all the combinations and have never been disappointed. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because of the price, $17 for a lunch is a little too much for me. Pantry down at Rosedale has a similar offering with similar portions for cheaper. read more

Delicious food, great service, healthy options! Love ordering from here. The weekender breakfast is SO good!

Outstanding food and environment. Got a groovy 70s lounge thing going. Clean and bright. Full of healthy people. Awesome vegan options.

Went for breakfast twice now on Saturdays. Really great place. Scandinavian in style. Place has a clean look to go along with its clean tasting food. Staff friendly and service is efficient. Had the avocado toast and regular breakfast. Super. No complaints. Accommodated customizations without attitude. Hope this place does well! read more

What a great addition to Yonge and St. Clair! A fresh and calm atmosphere with delicious and healthy food. My favourite is the dahl stew which is really filling but doesn't leave you feeling stuffed. Who knew healthy could be so tasty! I've been here twice in the last month because it's just so fresh, so yummy, so healthy, and the place is quite cozy too! I had: steak, kale salad, quinoa salad, spiced cauliflower, tofu, broccoli, gosh a whole lot of shareables. Every time a dish came out. I'd politely decline because it just looked so healthy... only to be blown away after my first the first bite. read more

We have now been back a couple of times and it wasn't quite as hectic. The space has been very well done compared to its previous incarnation - much more light and airy. The food was quite good. We've tried the mac'ncheese (good), beets (good), salmon (good) and an inedible coleslaw. (Also coffee and muffins - good). But it still has the feel of a fast food joint. Find a table and put something on it to reserve it; line up and place your order; take your number; wait. Maybe we're just too old for this. Spiga is still preferred. read more

Been here twice. I know this place focuses on health food but that doesn't mean you shouldn't season your food, like salt, please! Also please don't overcook the salmon, there's nothing healthy or tasty about well done salmon, med rare to medium please. This place has potential, nice space, a good market to grab business in the right location but these are very amateur mistakes happening in the kitchen and they need to be fixed. I have no problem paying the prices they are asking for anything on there menu aslong as it's seasoned and cooked properly and right now they are missing the mark read more

Good for a healthy, hearty meal. The way ordering and the menu work is you order at the counter, pay, then the waiters bring you the food. Fairly simple menu style, where you pick any combination of warm side, cold side, protein, and/or stew. Pricing is very reasonable (I paid around $20+tip for dinner that included two sides, protein, and house lemonade). The food was great. I got mac & cheese and roasted beets as sides, and flank steak as protein. Something about it tasted really homemade, as it wasn't your typical drenched-in-oil-or-butter restaurant meal. My buddy had the grilled salmon as protein and he loved it. The place is new with beautiful brand new furniture and has an open, fresh, feel to it. I felt like an upscale hippie eating there. Wait, I think you wold call that a hipster. read more
