    Lemon brew
    Jenelle C.

This is such a cute spot! The food was very tasty. Highly recommend the Mediterranean bowl to which I added a chicken breast to. Portion size with a little small for the price, but the ingredients are fresh. The lemon brew was also so delicious and refreshing. I look forward to trying other items off the menu. Would definitely recommend!

Everything about this place screams fresh, healthy and clean. The ambiance of the restaurant reflects the food with clean lines and minimalist decor. The food is good. The service is good. I've now gotten both eat in and take out and tried everything from steak and mac n cheese to tofu and quinoa. Each main and side comes with tons of flavour. It's food you can feel good about eating and enjoy at the same time. Also, the maple ginger lemonade is delish! The only downfall is it can be a bit expensive. That and the iced Toronto fog felt watery to me.

I have lived in the area for years and have been meaning to try this place out for a while now, but have just never got around to it. Well, yesterday I finally checked it out and I'm glad I did. The main concept is mix-and-match a protein with various sides. You can also just get some side dishes if you are so inclined. You enter your order at the front and wait for your order to be called. It's a relatively quick process and takes around 10 minutes. I ordered my food for takeout, but they have both indoor and outdoor seating available if you want to eat-in. The food is fresh. I ordered flank steak with two sides of roasted sweet potatoes and grilled broccoli. The steak was cooked well and quite tender. My only gripe is that I felt there was not enough of it. The sides on the other hand were quite plentiful. Both the sweet potatoes and broccoli were ideally cooked with a nice amount of seasoning. The sides were actually probably the star of he meal. Overall, wholesome tasty food. I would just like a bigger serving of protein.

Mary Be Kitchen is heaven for clean and healthy eating. The interior is modern and bright, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. This place tends to be busy all the time, and even more so during peak meal times (lunch period on weekdays, brunch hours on weekends). It can get pretty loud inside and getting a table is first come, first served. A lot of people come to pick up take-out orders (which you can place online for convenience). There is a separate line for take-out order pick-ups, and a different line for placing dine-in orders. In addition to the open-space dining area, they have a small grab-and-go fridge and freezer for housemade grocery items such as soups, stews, salmon burger patties, granola, guacamole, ready-to-bake cookie doughs, etc. The menu is simple - you get to pick combos, individual items, or a mix of their protein, salads, stews, and side offerings. Vegan and vegetarian options are plenty. My favourite sides are the Kale & Red Cabbage Caesar Salad (with Greek yogurt dressing instead of the typical Caesar salad dressing), roasted sweet potatoes, masala-roasted cauliflower (with roasted red onions and fresh cilantro), and grilled broccoli. If you want something warm, they have stews (such as the vegan Red Lentil Dal and seasonal soup). Review of the menu items tried: 1) Grilled Salmon - Perfectly crisp on the outside and velvety well done in the inside. Perfect portion (not too big and not too small either). 2) Kale & Red Cabbage Caesar Salad - The sunflower seeds gave a nice crunch, and the Greek yogurt dressing was tangy. 3) Masala-Roasted Cauliflower - LOVE this side! The roasted red onions and fresh cilantro complemented the cauliflower really well, and I could taste the masala in every bite. 4) Roasted Sweet Potatoes - Smooth, with skin on. It came with "sunshine sauce" which was spicy, but luckily they served this on the side by default. 5) Red Lentil Dal - It came in a good-sized bowl, with a layer of turmeric rice underneath and served with fresh cilantro. Perfect for winter when you want something warm and soothing. On the weekends, they have a special brunch menu. Everything can be made vegan by substituting eggs with tofu, and you can customize each dish with sides / add-ons. Drinks selection includes smoothies, lattes, and assorted coffee and tea.

This is such a friendly place to enjoy breakfast. There is ample indoor seating as well as a couple of tables outside. It's bright and cheerful, with several gluten-free options for meals as well as desserts. I ordered the lavender latte with almond milk, and it was delicious. I also ordered the weekender meal with poached eggs, adding locally smoked salmon, and subbing gluten-free toast. I was impressed with everything on my plate, and took the salad, and part of the salmon and sweet potatoes home because I was so full. I bought a morning glory cookie to try later. I am actually eating it now, and it is so moist and delicious! I am enjoying the contrast between the chewy inside and the crunchy outside. I enjoyed the salad for lunch, and loved the contrasts between the different parts of it. It wasn't just dressed lettuce. It also had shredded carrots, slivers of fresh asparagus, and was topped with pepitas.

Delicious, high-quality whole foods that are both healthy and satisfying. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but for the quality and clean ingredients, it feels worth it as an occasional treat. A great spot when you want something nourishing without sacrificing flavor.

Ordered takeout and the food was delicious! The chicken was an extra dollar, and it came with two sides. Picked the toasted cauliflower and the mac and cheese

I ordered the jasmine tea Lemonade and this was tasty in the summer heat. it was on the sour side but that's how it was likely meant to be. i wish there was an option to sweeten it because I prefer sweeter drinks. I also tried the sweet potato brownie which just tasted like any brownie but pretty chocolatey and thick.

--The Down Low-- Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Quality vs. Price: 5/5 Vibe: 4.5/5 I came here on a Sunday around noon for lunch with a group of friends. The eatery runs on an order-and-sit style format, so seating is first-come-first-served and no reservations are taken. After ordering at the counter, you will get an order number for your table and staff will bring the food to you. Staff were kind, patient, and delivered great service! I ordered the Be Square combo (1 protein + 2 sides), with the chicken breast and salsa verde for protein, as well as the grilled asparagus salad and the turmeric rice for the sides. Portion sizes were extremely generous! The taste was satisfying and felt akin to enjoying a nice homecooked meal. I did not feel any heaviness or discomfort, even with such a large serving size. The atmosphere was really nice. Decor was cheerful and cozy, and I found the layout intuitive to navigate. Washrooms were also well-kept. There is a decent amount of seating indoors and on a small outdoor area, but was quite full when I went. Given that seating is self-served, the only drawback I would comment on is that the seating available was not the most efficiently used because there would be empty seats at tables that were occupied by one or two customers, so larger groups may have trouble finding seats together. The total cost came to about $24 CAD. I would say it is a bit more expensive as a casual lunch spot, considering the order-and-sit format - as opposed to a full-service restaurant; however, the price is on par with a typical weekend brunch and the quality and preparation of the food, as well as the large portion size, justify the price in my opinion. I enjoyed my experience at this eatery and would definitely come again if I was in the area!

Wow. A clean modern cafe with tons of wholesome nutritious menu offerings, vegan and bakery options in Toronto? It really exists and it's at Mary Be Kitchen. Love the expansive interior dining room and covered open patio option. The service here is genuine and lovely. People enjoy working here and it shows. Lots of options for bakery, breakfast, lunch entrees and anything in between. Tried the avo smash breakfast with poached egg and earl grey tea. Service to your table. Dine at your leisure to the start of an awesome day. Zen like experience. See you again soon!

What a lovely place! Came here for brunch with my friends, and I absolutely adored it. The service is quick, the food is very affordable, and delicious! I ordered the smashed avo plate which came with grilled tofu. I really liked it, and I especially liked how this place did not skimp on the amount of avocado. The grilled tofu was also super unique and provided a great vegan option :) My favourite thing was the chocolate chip cookie. I won't lie, I have my fair share of CCC throughout my life, but this one was possibly the best cookie I've ever had. It was so fresh, with a little bit of crunch but a nice chew, it wasn't too thin but it wasn't too dense, nor was it too sweet. It was a perfect combination of gooey yet it still had structure. I would come again just for that cookie!! The ambience was also super nice, and there was no rush to get up to leave. I would definitely come here again!! 10/10 :)

Ok, so I was recommended this place by a friend of mine. And I wasn't expecting much because I was just looking to pick up food and go. To be honest my first impression of this place was pretty cool, cafe~like, sit yourself down and have a coffeee, do some work, catch up with an old friend type vibe. Or grab lunch on the go. Either way. I could kick with it! Anyways I came in and ordered a protein with two sides. I got the chicken, Mac n cheese and the chopped winter salad. Mmm! I also ordered an iced coffeee on the side. (They even offer almond milk on the side!) Everything was super healthy. Clean. And I appreciate options such as these in the city. I recommend this place if you're looking to grab healthy eats and/or a quick lunch with a friend. This place is environmentally friendly! Their straws are biodegradable. They don't use plastic bags for take out, and their boxes are recyclable! They have a water dispenser at the cutlery area and support less waste :) I appreciate the small things and details about places like this! 5/5!

What a cute restaurant! The decor is inviting and comfortable with a couch and patio area for people watching. The staff are super friendly which probably doesn't mean much in Canada. But when your city jokes about it being the City of Brotherly Shove, the friendliness, helpfulness, and kindness is a much appreciated change. Now, great service doesn't mean anything if the food isn't good as well. But here, Mary Be food that is not only health and nutritious, but portions that are balanced and correctly sized.

Salmon, kale and cabbage Caesar, grilled broccoli. SO GOOD

Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday and chose the tasting menu. To start, we were served a small bite of salmon tartare, which was quite flavorful. The scallop appetizer was refreshing, while the asparagus course felt a little underwhelming as a standalone dish. The two main courses were the highlights. The wild Quebec bass was fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked. The chicken was incredibly juicy and well seasoned. Although it came with a butter-based sauce, it wasn't heavy at all and paired perfectly with the bread. For dessert, the first one was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the ice cream was quite tasty. The six-course tasting menu was just the right amount for the two of us, although it might be a little small for bigger appetites.

We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. It's also been a reliable spot to be able to book tables for large groups. However, they have poor problem resolution if there are any issues that arise. Their food is all pretty good and drinks are fairly priced. Their staff are what I would call elusive and very no frills--beyond your first order, they're a bit hard to flag down to order additional items, settle bills, or otherwise. We had an incident where my friend ordered an alcohol-free beer, but when received, they had a sip and suspected it had alcohol in it because it tasted like the regular alcoholic version. We asked the staff to confirm if the drink they poured was actually alcoholic beer on tap, or if it was an emptied can of the alcohol-free beer. The staff came back and apologized, saying it was the alcoholic beer and poured from the tap but the order placed was indeed the alcohol-free beer. My friend then requested to have the can for the alcohol-free beer instead of poured in a glass to be safe, because she was pregnant. The staff then realized the gravity of the issue and went to get the can, saying we can keep the other glass. A few minutes later, someone who I presume to be a manager came over to say she had clarified the situation again and that it was actually NOT the alcoholic beer--which at this point we weren't inclined to trust. The manager did not apologize, but instead said that a bit of alcohol is okay when you're pregnant... We didn't say anything or raise a fuss, just smiled awkwardly. We left not too long after, and we were charged for the mistaken beer as well. This experience put a bit of damper on going to this place, as it was a frequent spot we visited for decent happy hour specials. However it's evident that staff do not know how to handle special circumstances, nor do they seem to have high EQ. If you are a person with no dietary needs, no wheelchair or crutches (because it's cramped as hell and the washrooms are located on the 2nd floor), not pregnant, and no allergies, then this place is probably fine. But if you have any of the above, then you should skip it in case of incident.

Something about the presentation and how you had to be there for it. I don't know about that. I ordered the Atlantic salt cod (fried cod balls) and while they were super good, the presentation left me thinking, "I could have totally eaten this in my giant robe in bed." Regardless, I enjoyed every bite. I did end up getting approval to take my dessert to-go. This made me very happy. It was a chocolate mouse-like thing, shaped like a heart (it was just after Valentine's Day). It came with berries and drizzled with chocolate. Very decadent. This was a very hip spot. The environment was buzzing with people in town for whatever reason, the staff was great, and the cocktail and food couldn't have been better.

We spoke with two bartenders that were both friendly, and willing to impart their spirits knowledge. Both cocktails were exceptional. They are expensive, but it's a Sheraton, so it was expected. Food was tasty, but pricy too. The bar is beautiful, so definitely a nice place to visit.

Thanks to a couple of the reviews, we ordered -- among other things the spicy rigatoni. Absolutely unbelievable flavor that really wakes up your tastebuds and says, "Delicious, aren't I?" The answer is YES!!! We ordered the truffle fries for the table, which are the best I've ever had and I love truffle fries. I ordered the Sangria Rouge simply because I love a really good one. This met and exceeded all my hopes and dreams. In fact, I would say that that describes this restaurant. It was a wonderful, wonderful experience.

We ordered a bunch of things to share and the table ended up being full pretty quickly. Rock shrimp to start, truffle fries with truffle aioli, a wagyu caesar salad, half roasted chicken, and king oyster mushrooms. Everything was good, but the rigatoni completely stole the show. Creamy, spicy, perfectly cooked pasta and one of those dishes where you keep going back for another bite even when you're already full. Drinks were solid too. The Pornstar Martini and the Hot & Bothered were both great and fit the vibe of the place. The space feels polished but still lively, especially around the bar. Definitely the kind of spot that works for a night out, drinks with friends, or a late dinner. If you go, do not skip the spicy vodka rigatoni. I would come back just for that.

I had been wanting to try Edna + Vita for a long time, and finally made it here for Summerlicious…read more The restaurant is located beneath an office building in Toronto's Financial District, so lunchtime was lively and filled with conversations from nearby office workers. My first impression honestly made me wonder if it was really worth all the praise. By the end of the meal, I had my answer. Arugula Caprese Insalata A creative take on a classic Caprese salad. Arugula replaces basil, while a rich Parmesan cream stands in for fresh mozzarella, giving the dish a deeper, more savory profile without losing the freshness of the tomatoes. The balsamic balances the arugula's slight bitterness beautifully, and the juicy tomatoes cut through the richness of the cream. Fried capers add a pleasant burst of Mediterranean saltiness at the end. Simple ingredients, thoughtfully combined. Chicken Scarpariello This was easily the highlight of the meal. The chicken skin was beautifully seasoned and roasted until fragrant. Instead of being overly juicy, the meat was incredibly tender, with a faint blush of pink at the center. The Italian sausage had a firm, satisfying bite and a rich meaty flavor. I rarely describe roasted potatoes as "melt-in-your-mouth," but these truly were. The sauce, made with white wine, onions, peppers, and tomatoes, was so flavorful that I ended up using bread to wipe the plate clean--and still wished there had been more bread. Italian Love Cake A layered dessert of chocolate cake, ricotta cheesecake, and chocolate mousse. Each layer offered a different texture: the mousse was smooth without feeling heavy, the cake slightly dry, and the ricotta layer pleasantly crumbly. The texture was more memorable than the flavor, but it was surprisingly light to finish despite being a chocolate dessert. Tiramisu Although it's priced at $19.50, the portion is generous--about one and a half times the size of a typical tiramisu. The mascarpone was silky, rich, and pleasantly creamy with a touch of sweetness. The ladyfingers were well soaked with espresso and carried a subtle hint of liqueur. It tasted like a textbook tiramisu: everything was executed correctly, even if it wasn't particularly surprising. Many years from now, I may no longer remember the wildfire that day--but I'll probably still remember this chicken.

We had a pepperoni pizza, mushroom salad with arugula and frisée, and the pawn tagliatelle. We also had the prickly pear spritz and the lemonade. (The lemonade was better! Very refreshing with the addition of grapefruit.) The mushroom salad was fabulous. Nice and crispy, a healthy portion, and a light drizzle of balsamic.
