Sandee L.

We're on the hunt for our wedding cake, so the perfect opportunity to try Marvel came up for my grandmother's 100th birthday. Sad to say, we were all very underwhelmed by the cake. It looked so pretty and we had high hopes. We took the option of adding on a fondant banner for $5 in the store and settled on berry and vanilla. Whoever was helping us was really not much help at all. I guess at least she was honest, but she didn't know what any of the cakes tasted like and if it was buttercream or whipped cream. The cake itself was dry and hard: the texture was oh so wrong. I don't know if it was old, frozen for too long, or some odd ingredients? But for $65 for a small 6", it was very disappointing. We also got the small bisou and a small napoleon. Better than the cake, but still just ok.

Area where the items are packaged and the different drinks are made

We came to the shop around 11:30 a.m. on August 23rd. When we arrived there were two patrons outside enjoying their coffee and pastry and another set of patrons inside a little girl with their dad having a little tea party. I will say that walking in the space is elegant is the word I would like to use but also inviting with the little extras that they do at the table with the fresh flowers the soft chairs the colorful decor that surrounds it. Also the two individuals behind the counter that were taking orders and packaging things were just a delight. Both of them greeted us with a smile and they asked us if it was our first time to the shop and we told them yes and so they walked us through some of the more popular items and how are things were broken down and that was very much appreciated cuz there are many many options in front of you in unless you know exactly what you want you can be looking at everything for a couple of minutes before you decide on even one thing. We ended up getting a regular latte and a rose latte for our drinks. And then as a little delicious taste of something we got the chocolate croissant and the almond croissant. I am going to comment on my rose latte first that thing was beautifully made because though it was sweet but in a way that wasn't overpowering because you could still taste a little bit of the caffeine the creaminess of the milk that was used and the espresso it was like a hint in the background so a little call out there if you're someone that really wants to taste their coffee this wasn't the jam for you and that's okay my husband got the regular latte with steamed milk and I tasted his and that was like coffee in your face so you can always go for a solid twist like that. And to clarify his latte was also very good because it just tasted so fresh and of high quality. Now for the pastries. They were stupendous because they had the right amount of flakiness but softness. They also were buttery but not overly so were like major hands feel greasy it was so savory both of them which is interesting because the fillings one was chocolate one was almond I would have thought that both of them would have had an overpowering sweetness to them. We will say that we both liked the almond croissant more not that the chocolate one wasn't just as good. The almond had a little bit of a 1up because I don't know how to explain it it's almost like it had a almond crumble at the top so you bit into the pastry which was fluffy but you had the crunch on the top then you had a little bit of the almond filling and then you had the butter and like the soft but almost chewiness of the inside of the layers just stupendous all of that together was great. If we end up ever being in that area again will definitely want to go back to try the rest of the stuff they had because I want to know how everything else takes especially those beautiful cakes that were just art themselves

Oh my gosh what a cute bakery! The food looks absolutely amazing. They have such a great variety of drinks! I got the orange blossom latte and a lemon tart! Both were extremely tasty! The service was great. The cafe is literally so comfy and cozy. I came after my massage a couple doors down and I just plopped on the comfiest chair and like zoned out haha! The bathroom is private and clean! I highly recommend!

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. The place was not too busy. They used to have spiral croissant. Unfortunately, they no longer make it. Their pastries look very beautiful. Pistachio macaron was good. Ube sesame tart was a beautiful pastry. That was good too. Jade (banana matcha) was a slightly different type of tea. I think strawberry matcha would have tasted better.

My wife mentioned this place since she sees it on her IG account so we decided to try it this Friday!! It is located next to the grocery store Nobhill and there are quick 20min parking in front of the store. We were greeted right when we entered the door and looked at the delicious treats to eat. There is the main seating area and another area in the back to sit down along with sitting outside. It felt upscale and nice. The sign in front of the store had some drink specials and I got a strawberry/matcha drink I think it was called Rose. I asked what was good here and the cashier said the mini almond pastries and other treats in the front. The mini almond pastry was really good and also got a crème brûlée which was really good as well. I would come back again and try their hot teas next time. Delicious treats. Good upscale vice a nice place to catch up with friends!!!

Really pretty bakery and great for afternoon tea. We were really bummed they got rid of the stuffed croissants. Service was quick. The place was pretty and clean. I definitely need to take my gfs here for a girls day out. Overall everything was tasty and we definitely will be back.

Came by for some baked goods the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking was available in the private strip mall. Staff behind the counter were courteous. Ordered a chocolate hazelnut dessert and it was tasty and very good. Most importantly, it wasn't too sweet. It was on the pricier side at $10+ each.

Cakes are good, but be sure to ask what's in them to make sure it's up your alley! I've tried many and can't wait to try more

It has been on my list to visit, known for the Spiral Croissant made popular like around 2 years ago. Great indoor and outdoor dining. Since it is small shopping area there is a lot of parking. It is a great place to enjoy a cup or tea or coffee with a selection of decadent desserts. As you check the display case someone will help you and you can request for take out or for here options. The staff were friendly and helpful when I requested for explanation for some of the desserts. Once you pay, pick any table to sit down and they will bring the tea or coffee with dessert of your choice. I had ordered Tokyo Breakfast and Leek Parmesan (I requested the pastry to be warmed up). Definitely must try for people who love IPP (Individual Production Pastry) type of desserts and great place to hangout with your friends or family.

Customer service 5/5 Desserts 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 I came in randomly one day knowing I had always wanted to try their pastries. I'm not sure why I thought they would also have slices of cake ( Hense the name), but they had smaller pastries and dessert options. A lot of selections for all of your dessert cravings. I will have to go back in and try their coffee and other items. But the things I ordered were good.

Holy smokes -- literally! When I started planning the cake for my sister's 50th birthday, I knew I didn't just need a cake designer. I needed a true artist. Someone who could create a cake just as EXTRA as the person it was meant for. This wasn't just a birthday cake. It was meant to be a testament to 50 years of an amazing life well lived. A sculpture. A piece of art. Something that somehow captured her life, her personality, the things she loves, and the people she loves. There were so many details, and every single one had a story and a meaning behind it. I needed someone who understood that and could actually pull it all off. Then I found Maryam at Marvel Cake. I'm fairly certain Maryam thought I was kidding when I first told her I wanted a gold, smoke-breathing lion on the cake. I was not. And once she realized that, she didn't try to talk me out of my crazy vision, she embraced it. She worked with me to find just the right lion mold. She figured out how to make the smoke actually happen. She even scheduled a practice run with a dummy cake ahead of time so we could make sure everything would work perfectly on the big day. And that same level of care went into every other ridiculous, sentimental, over-the-top detail I threw at her. Throughout the entire process, Maryam was kind, patient, helpful, incredibly sweet, and genuinely invested in bringing this vision to life. And she did. The finished cake was beyond anything I could have hoped for. It wasn't just beautiful or impressive, it captured who my sister is. Every tier, every flower, every symbol, every tiny detail meant something. This cake was incredibly important to me because, in a strange way, it was my love letter to my sister. It was 50 years of memories, things and people she loves, and pieces of her life all wrapped up in one completely outrageous cake. And Maryam treated every single element as though it were just as important to her as it was to me. That is a rare thing. If you're looking for someone to simply make you a beautiful cake, Maryam can absolutely do that. But if you're looking for someone to take an idea that sounds completely impossible (possibly involving a smoke-breathing gold lion) and turn it into something meaningful, personal, spectacular and unforgettable, Maryam is your person. Thank you, Maryam, for understanding that this was never just a cake.

Alice C.

Marvel Cake is such a hidden gem! The whole café has a girly and luxurious vibe, from the plush, super comfy seating to the elegant decor. There's plenty of indoor seating, so you don't feel cramped at all -- and bonus points for a clean, well-maintained bathroom, free WiFi, and easy, plentiful parking. I went on a Sunday around 1 PM, and surprisingly, it wasn't crowded at all -- which made the experience even better. I ordered the Hokkaido crepe cake, chocolate croissant, iced latte, and an iced americano. Everything was delicious: * The chocolate croissant was super crispy and fresh -- probably one of the best I've had. * The crepe cake was light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet without being overpowering. * The iced latte was smooth and well-balanced, and you can tell they use good quality coffee. Definitely coming back. Whether you're into desserts, coffee, or just a chill spot with a pretty vibe, Marvel Cake checks all the boxes.

Lukas S.

This has been my go-to place and a secret superpower for the last few years, that enabled me to show up with an amazing cakes for my wife's birthdays and really any occasions. They have a good selection of small single-serve cakes that we really enjoy, as we get to try many different flavors. But they also have large cakes, daily cakes, legendary Marvel tiramisu and all kinds of pastries. It's impossible to come in and walk out without a huge box of things you didn't know you needed. The service is quick and polite. They will even calligraph a custom edible banner for your cake! I've always taken away but there are some tables to eat in. There are always some people there but it's reasonably quiet and peaceful, with lots of light and muted colors interior.

I only had 2 weeks to put my Dad's 50th birthday together and I was calling few local cake shops and because of the design that I wanted for the event they had to turn me down especially that I wanted to have it made in such short notice. Luckily I found Marvel Cake and spoke with Maryam, she told me she would have my cake done when I need it and she charged me with a very fair price for the 8 inch layered cake. I highly recommend her, cake was delicious and customer service was phenomenal. read more

I was a big fan of this bakery for croissants(butter and chocolate). I almost went 3-4 days a week for 1 year to get croissants for my family. But, I was disappointed couple times including yesterday because the butter croissant was NOT fresh although I bought it in the morning like 11:00 am. All of my family felt it even my kids. It seemed like they baked yesterday. I bought 3 butter croissant and 3 chocolate. All of the butter croissants were terrible. After my family took a bite, nobody wanted to eat anymore. I've referred many friends to visit this bakery, but I regret now. read more

I contacted the owner/pastry chef Maryam with a picture of her unicorn cake done in the past with some of my personal preferences to see if she could keep the framework but make a more dreamy look. She delivered it with the perfect tie dye look of baby pink/blue/lavender, and to be honest I could already sense that she would do great during our initial consultation because I was trying hard explaining what I want (I have no pastry experience and are lacking technical terms) but she immediately understood what I was trying to describe. Not to mention the pastry chef is such an elegant lady so I already had full confidence in her! With all that, my only surprise is the cake actually tastes super good! Everybody complimented on the taste because everybody, just like me, expected the custom cake to function just like some photo props but it is moist for a fondant cake and not too sweet - anyways JUST DELICIOUS! I will always come back to Maryam for every occasion. read more

Thanks to Maryam for doing an amazing job on our wedding cake. The cake was absolute perfection for our Indian Reception. All our guests loved it and top that our cake was super yummy. Ordered two tiers for the guest count of 40. We went with the Yelp reviews as a lot of reviews recommended for a chocolate mouse for our top tier and vanilla with strawberry filling for the bottom tier. It was not too sweet as the reviews said. I can not say how happy I was looking at our reception photos. My wedding cake was such a highlight. I would definitely go back to Maryam for our future events and highly recommend her to my family and friends.:) read more

I live in Boston and was able to place an order for my sister's birthday during the coronavirus pandemic. The communication from the moment I spoke to them on the phone was phenomenal, I felt as if we had spoken before, they were so personal and caring. Since I don't live in the area and unable to have picked up the order, they offered to deliver it to her, which was beyond appreciated. They sent me messages of what the order looked like and was able to add a personal note. I can't thank them enough for such an outstanding experience. You can even request your own design and it's done the way you imagined. There are many fresh and tasty flavors to choose from. Our guests at both times enjoyed the cake so much. In these difficult times it is hard to see the bright spots. Enter marvel cake, and a surprise box my hubby brought home for the family. In this surprise box was the best Napoleon I have ever tasted. Also included was most beautiful fruit tart with gold leaf on it that I had ever seen. There were cupcakes and a creme brûlée. Where in the world did you find this I asked? My new fav place to order cakes from! Maryam is so sweet and she really cares about the quality of her work. I messaged her on Yelp and she responded quickly. I met with her a few days later to talk about the cake I wanted for my husband's 40th birthday party. I have to say, I can not be any happier with the result. The cake looked amazing and best of all, it was so delicious. I had ordered 2 tiers and by the end of the night, it was all gone!! I wanted to order an iPhone birthday cake for my friend's birthday. It was my first personalized cake order so I had no idea how long ago I should have ordered the cake, so I called Maryam five days before my friend's bday. We celebrated our daughter's first birthday yesterday and cannot express how happy and satisfied I was with the cake delivered by Maryam! She did an exceptional job not only with the cake design , but the flavors also. My daughter is a big fan of the nursery rhyme series "Little Baby Bum", so we decided to get her a cake with all of her favorite characters on it. Not only was the cake made with excellent detailing, she presented the cake exactly the way we had discussed. I have worked with many bakeries on customizing cakes for personal events and I have always found atleast one of the features (design or flavor) to not meet expectations. This is the first time We have completely enjoyed the cake and to have exceeded expectations! We chose Maryam's signature Vanilla and Bavarian cream filling with fresh strawberries and it was one of the best birthday cakes I have honestly eaten! I will give this place a five star and would definitely go back for future events! Thank you again Maryam for making our day special! read more

And if you lined up a bunch of varieties including, plain, chocolate, vegetable, cheese, or meat filled, the bottom of that on my list would be the ham & cheese version. I had a Preligen's Ham & Cheese croissant and it was so deliciously outstanding that I had to have a second one and that was also a first for me. It was as if they were marinated in butter (but of course that doesn't make sense). The cheese in the croissant was a flavor that I had not tasted before. And the ham (which is usually so undesirable to me that if say for example it was on a pizza, I would remove it) was so rich in taste and had an unusual texture. I would rather sausage, bacon, or even pepperoni any day over ham. If the Ham & Cheese Croissants are so unique and stellar in flavor, I cannot wait to try others from their, including and even a plain one. By the way, I called to ask what the secret ingredients were that made their ham & cheese so unusual. Preligen (who is the owner's first name) said that they use Gruyère cheese. After checking out their yelp page I saw they had food as well so the plan was set to go for lunch. There's a small but empty enough parking lot along with street parking. I walked over around lunch time and there was one person ahead of me. I ordered a steak torta which seemed promising. The lady who took my order twisted my arm into getting a licuado (milkshake). While waiting for my food, I went next door for a drink and chips. My food was ready in less than 10 minutes and the line had grew by that time. The torta was really tasty and fresh, all the ingredients hit the notes needed. The bread stood out in good and bad ways. The flavor was above average but it crumbled quite a bit. There was enough inside to hold up to the thick bread so I cant complain. My biggest gripe is there wasn't any salsa on the side and I didnt see any in the store. Maybe I just didnt ask? But if there is some available, this place could be a hit out the park. There was also a slight taste of tuna in my sandwich. They may have used the same spatula for the mayo as the tuna perhaps, im not sure. I didn't get sick or anything so I won't complain too much, just mentioning it. Salsa woulda covered it and elevated it but this is just my take. The licuado was standard mexican childhood approved. 7 bones for the drink and my total was like 19 bucks. Disappointing Experience at Marvel Cakes I recently had the unfortunate opportunity to interact with a staff member from Marvel Cakes, and I must say, the encounter left me thoroughly dissatisfied. From the moment I walked in, the individual I interacted with displayed a remarkably snappy and dismissive attitude that instantly set a negative tone for my visit. I believe her name to be Dani. I understand that everyone can have their off days, but this employee's behavior was beyond what I would consider acceptable customer service. Their tone was condescending and impatient, making me feel like I was inconveniencing them by merely being there. As a customer, I expected to be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of any underlying issues the staff member might have been dealing with. Furthermore, their lack of willingness to answer my questions or engage in a helpful manner was truly disappointing. It's disheartening to encounter such an uncooperative attitude, especially when all I wanted was some information about the products and services offered by Marvel Cakes. In addition to their snappy demeanor, the staff member's bad attitude seemed to permeate the entire atmosphere of the place. The overall experience left me feeling unwelcome and frustrated, which is far from the positive ambiance one would hope for when visiting a bakery. Based on this unfortunate interaction, I would be hesitant to recommend Marvel Cakes to anyone looking for a pleasant and customer-focused experience. It's a shame that one staff member's attitude can cast a shadow over what might otherwise be a great bakery. I hope that Marvel Cakes takes this feedback seriously and takes steps to ensure that all customers are treated with the respect and kindness they deserve. In conclusion, my encounter with a snappy and unhelpful staff member at Marvel Cakes left a sour taste in my mouth, overshadowing any potential positive aspects of the establishment. I strongly urge the management to address such behavior and work towards creating a more welcoming and customer-friendly environment for all patrons. read more

I stopped by Marvel Cake on a Sunday afternoon craving a snack and a warm cup of coffee -- but "warm" was nowhere to be found. The place was chilly. I'm talking Arc'teryx-jacket-still-cold kind of chilly. It felt like the heating might be broken, which made it hard to settle in and enjoy the experience. The ambiance has potential, but it's really a tale of two vibes. During the day, the bright lighting gives it a dull, almost lifeless feel. I imagine it would feel much more upscale and inviting in the evening when the lights could add a sense of luxury to the space. The ordering process? Inefficient is the best way to describe it. I picked up a pastry and was told it would be brought to me alongside my drink. Sounds fine in theory, but it took 10 minutes to receive them. For reference, places like Croissanté move much faster and have a much cozier atmosphere. It left me wondering why such a simple process felt so clunky. Now, onto the food. I came here after seeing all the hype around their croissant wheel. I went with the pistachio croissant wheel -- it was decent but didn't exactly live up to the buzz. It wasn't something I'd run back for, but I'll give credit where it's due: it wasn't too sweet, which I appreciated. It paired nicely with the pink rose latte, which was actually quite pleasant. The floral notes in the latte were a standout moment for me. Overall, Marvel Cake has a lot of room for improvement. Better heating, a smoother ordering process, and a stronger daytime ambiance would all go a long way. The food was solid, but with other spots doing it better and faster, I'm not in a rush to return. read more

Marvel Cake has always been a visual delight, evoking an elegant Parisian café vibe. Their pastries are undeniably gorgeous--true works of art that almost make you hesitate to eat them. Their Instagram-famous spiral croissant was what initially drew me in. I was among those who eagerly lined up to try it when they went viral. Fast forward a year, I finally returned, albeit with some hesitation. I dreaded encountering another long line and the possibility that they might have sold out of the croissants. To my surprise, there were only a handful of guests, and one croissant swirl was still available - yay! I had high hopes when I brought a friend to Marvel Cake, but the service left much to be desired. When I asked for a menu, the cashier made an exaggerated gesture toward the pastry cabinet and dismissively said, "This is the menu." - as if mocking me. She later repeated this behavior and response to another staff. She also incorrectly claimed they were out the spiral croissant - she called it "swirl" (smh), which I had to point out was still in the display. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in to assist. That interaction left a poor taste in my mouth, completely overshadowing the charm and beauty of the pastries. What was once a place I raved about has now lost me as a customer. Stunning pastries and elegant surroundings can't make up for service that leaves you feeling unwelcome. I won't be returning, at least to this Campbell location, Thank goodness there's one in Palo Alto. read more

I really wanted to like this place but it seems they didn't really want to like me. From their unfriendly service to their impatience, I found the experience very off putting. It was a Sunday afternoon and pretty business. The cliental was friendly but the staff was not. The cliental were patience but the staff were not. I understand it can get a bit hectic in a middle of a rush but when a customer waits patiently in line, you don't need to be rude and condescending when they eventually get the chance to ask questions. Especially when it's their first time. The spiral croissant was not bad but the peach tart was a little undercooked. The latte was undrinkable and definitely not their specialty. I know this because I kindly informed them it was over steamed and the milk was burnt but they rolled their eyes as if I was trying to pull a fast one on them. Most business would find this kind of feedback helpful but they viewed me as being difficult. Why? I don't know but when a latte is still screaming hot after 10 mins, you know they messed it up. They did offer to make me another one but they'll have to charge me again and it'll take another 15 min because they have other orders. Apparently I wasn't the only unhappy customer. I saw a few them voice their frustration. This place was a totally disappointment but I'm sure they don't give a rats ass based on their treatment of their customers. read more

I recently visited this a popular dessert shop that seems to be all the rage these days, but I have to say I wasn't very impressed. Despite all the hype and positive reviews, the desserts I tried were just okay and didn't live up to my expectations. I think one of the reasons why so many people overrate this place is because of its Instagram-worthy aesthetic. The shop is beautifully decorated with pastel colors, cute decorations, and photogenic desserts that are perfect for social media. I have to admit, the presentation was impressive, but the taste just didn't match up. Another factor that might contribute to the overrating is the scarcity effect. This place is often crowded and there's usually a long line, which can make people feel like they're missing out on something special. When people finally get their hands on the desserts, they might be inclined to rate them higher than they otherwise would, just to justify the wait and the hype. Overall, while the dessert shop I visited wasn't bad per se, it didn't impress me enough to warrant the high praise it seems to be receiving from so many others. I think people should adjust their expectations accordingly and not get too caught up in the hype. read more

Marvel Cakes absolutely lives up to its name. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere stood out -- a beautifully simple, clean design with timeless chairs, warm lighting, and plenty of space to sit back and enjoy. It strikes the perfect balance between elegant and intimate, making it ideal for both a quiet solo treat or the start of a romantic date. The customer service was truly exceptional. As first-timers, we had a ton of questions, and every one was met with patience and genuine enthusiasm. The staff took their time explaining the pastries and coffee options, making us feel completely welcomed and taken care of. Now, the real star -- the food. We ordered the spiral croissant and the dark hazelnut cake, paired with an espresso and a latte. The spiral croissant was filled with chocolate that hit the perfect note -- indulgent but not too sweet. And the hazelnut cake? Rich, flavorful, and simply unforgettable. Whether you're stopping in for a simple dessert or setting the tone for a lovely date, Marvel Cakes is a must-visit. Highly recommend! read more

I recently stopped by for a special occasion cake, and I'm so glad I did. Their cakes are not only super fun and creative in design, but they're also *delicious*. Sweet, but not overly so -- they've really nailed the perfect balance. Every bite was flavorful without being too rich or sugary, which is rare! The customer service was also top-notch. Whether you're picking up a cake or just grabbing a treat, the whole experience is a delight. Highly recommend for anyone who loves great cake and great service! read more

The first time we tried these cake and cupcakes was in a graduation party with nice graduation cap on each. They were really delicious and also very well presented. So with no doubt it triggered to our mind to have the same concept for my 2 year old daughter's Birthday party. It worked out perfectly. My daughter loved her Birthday cake and each kid enjoyed his or her custom Barney cupcake with a candle on it and they all blow the candles together!!!!. Thank you Marvel Cake for making our event more memorable , you guys rock!!!! read more

I visited Marvel Cake and decided to try their pistachio cake and fruit tart. Both desserts were cute, with the pistachio cake having a thick bottom crust and the fruit tart adorned with fresh fruit. However, while they were visually appealing, the taste was somewhat underwhelming. The pistachio cake was decent but lacked the rich, nutty flavor I was expecting. The fruit tart didn't leave a lasting impression either. Overall, both desserts were just okay--nothing exceptional in terms of flavor despite their presentation. read more

I visited this place recently and despite arriving late, I was pleasantly surprised by what was available. I managed to grab two fabulous cakes, and I must say, they exceeded my expectations. The packaging design was not only visually appealing but also reflected the attention to detail that the establishment clearly values. The ambiance of the place is equally charming, with its bright and cozy interior adding to the overall experience. Overall, a delightful visit that left me wanting to come back for more. read more

We had the most beautiful wedding cake, and it tasted just as amazing as it looked! Every detail was exactly what we envisioned, and it fit our wedding perfectly. Our guests couldn't stop complimenting how delicious and beautiful it was. The entire process was smooth, from planning to delivery, and everything was handled professionally and with great care. Thank you for helping make our wedding day even more special--we couldn't have been happier with our cake! Highly recommend! read more

The pastries at this bakery are absolutely awful. We spent $70 and everything was too sweet and had such a strange, unpleasant aftertaste. The filled croissants tasted like heavy cream with no discernible flavor. The lattes are burnt. The macarons are particularly disappointing as they were both over cooked and stale. They were blitzed too much in the oven and then thrown in the fridge for a few days before they sold it to us. I would not recommend. read more

This café is a must-visit for everyone with a sweet tooth. The welcoming aromas of freshly made pastries and the cafe's warm, cozy ambiance embrace you as you walk in. The pastry variety is astounding, with each item more enticing than the previous. The baristas are courteous and attentive, and their lattes are skillfully prepared. Don't pass up the opportunity to savor their scrumptious desserts and a pleasant and delightful experience. read more

Marvel"s Stuffed Chocolate Croissant was an absolute delight! The flaky, buttery layers were perfectly crisp, and the rich, dark chocolate filling was decadent without being overpowering. The croissant's overall sweetness was balanced, making it a truly satisfying treat. Also pairs perfectly with a Rose' latte! I highly recommend this establishment!! read more

The staff at this bakery is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you're happy with your order. They truly care about their customers and it shows. The desserts are good, but be prepared to pay about $10 dollars per cup with taxes. I but 6 of swirled cakes and two cupcakes and paid $109.00. Way way too expensive. Other than that is good. Be prepared to wait in line and there's a chance they get sold out, so arrive 30 min before opening. read more

They matched the reference photo I gave them almost exactly - and actually made it look better than the photo! They were so kind and patient in our back-and-forth about the cake details and it was packaged so carefully on the day of the pick-up. Every step of the process went so smoothly and I cannot recommend them enough. Plus, everything I have ever had from them has been delicious. This place is such a gem within the Bay Area. I am beyond grateful to the wonderful and talented staff at La Patisserie.

I've been coming to La Patisserie in Cupertino for years, usually when I'm already in the area…read moreshopping. There are a lot more fancy dessert shops around the Bay Area these days, but somehow I still come back for their Guava Cake. It's actually a strange craving. I don't think about this cake every week. Sometimes I completely forget about it for months, then one day something goes wrong in my brain and suddenly I NEED a guava cake. I've had this cake many times over the years and that's probably what impresses me most - it really hasn't changed much. Same fluffy cake, same very fragrant guava flavor, same bright old-school appearance. Maybe the angle of the whipped cream piping has changed a few degrees over the years, but I'll allow that process deviation. The guava flavor is the main reason I keep buying it. To me, it tastes surprisingly natural and close to real fruit. I've had plenty of guava desserts where you immediately get that artificial syrup/flavoring impression. I don't get that here. The guava is strong and fragrant, the cake itself is very light and fluffy, and the mousse and glossy guava topping give you that fruit flavor in almost every bite. This is definitely an old-school cake. It's not trying to be Lady M or some modern Instagram dessert. And that's fine. A good traditional cake is still a good cake. Usually I'm buying the whole cake to bring to someone's house, so I've watched a lot of first-timers try it over the years. Guava is guava - some people think it's on the sweet side, others love how fragrant it is. But somehow this is the one guava cake I've brought around that pretty much everybody ends up liking. And one comment I hear a lot is how natural the guava flavor tastes. It's around $70 for a whole cake now, which definitely isn't cheap. But if I'm paying that much for cake, at least give me something I can actually remember the next day. This one I can. If I'm planning to pick one up around 4 or 5 PM, I normally order earlier in the day. I've learned not to conduct unnecessary cake-inventory experiments. After all these years, La Patisserie's Guava Cake is still basically the same cake I remember. Dr. C long-term stability study: PASSED. Whipped cream piping angle may have experienced minor process drift. No CAPA required.

Drinks: We also had the cocoa cappuccino and the affogato. I learned the wedding cake flavors aren't the same flavors they have at the store in cake and cupcake form. Luckily when speaking with the young man, he said "we do have wedding cake kits right now". We happily purchased one right away, but wondered how fresh they could be if they had it on demand. Yup, most of the cakes were super dry and hard. The chocolate cakes also didn't have that deep chocolate flavor. Admittedly, we do not like buttercream and wedding cakes usually are limited to that as well as fondant. Every option here is buttercream based so we weren't huge fans, but leaned toward more the tropical flavors: mango, passionfruit, lemon. The mocha, hazelnut and caramel were pretty tasty too. Props for the princess cake!
