We arrived in time for happy hour, and we're given the happy hour menu, but by the time the bartender walked over to ask us what we wanted, they said it was 5 o'clock and are unable to serve items off the happy menu. I said to the bartender that it literally was 5 o'clock and they're happy hour runs between 4 and 5 PM, but that did not make a difference. The location was walking distance from our AirBnB in Old Town and centrally located on Duval street. Definitely pricey but worth it for the romantic and intimate dinner experience. The only complaint is that our prime rib came out well done after asking for medium rare. The waiter was extremely polite and corrected the meal when we notified him. For the quality and expectations at this spot I would've expected nothing less, and I'm happy they corrected it. I have waited to try this establishment for a while so decided to do happy hour on 1/31 based on great reviews and word of mouth . Their website states happy hour is from 430-600 so the plan was a couple drinks and appetizers at the bar then dinner if we could get seated. There was a small line and was fairly busy at 530 when we arrived. My wife told the male host what we would like to do and he said happy hour has ended at 530 since December. I was taken back by the tone of his voice and condescending attitude. It's not what he said it's how he said it like somehow We should have been aware of this. We have never been addressed this way at a restaurant anywhere. Instead of letting this ruin our night or waiting for a seat at the bar we went somewhere else. I still can't figure this out bad night for him or bad attitude. We were both well dressed and appeared to fit their target demographic being in our fifties , local as were most of the patrons I saw. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking on the Main Street. Have to say I said yes to it because I was hungry and there were too many options to choose from and their pricing was not bad. We sat at the bar ordered a bottle of wine and couple of appetizers to calm my hungry mouth down. I was pretty impressed with the: PORK TENDERLOIN & BERMUDA ONION SKEWERS $14, a little costly but the taste was nicely grilled and flavorful. They also offer happy hour EVERYDAY 4-6p in the entire restaurant and includes discounts on the food. That's a deal! And the food is actually pretty good. On vacation from Washington DC, and twice was turned away. They have this weird velvet red rope that blocks anyone from coming in? it just doesn't seem in the spirit of Key West. They also do not let people walk in for Happy Hour anymore apparently? Martins was a great spot to catch an "upscale" eat and Martini while in Key West In my previous trips here. But, I'll definitely be avoiding Martins in the future and will recommend others to avoid it as well. I don't mind being turned away if there are no reservations, but the attitude of the host staff and that cringe velvet rope was off putting. Indeed, it is eye-pleasing in every way. The specialty food of Martin's is German. So accordingly, I ordered their Jägerschnitzel was a pounded tender lightly breaded meat. Mine was done hunter-style meaning it came coated with thick mushroom gravy. Overall, it was very good, and the portion more than generous. So large in fact that I couldn't finish it all. I also ordered a side of sauerkraut but was disappointed with the bland taste of it. Indeed, the bagged sauerkraut I find in Publix has a more distinguished and rounded taste with a slight zest of full cabbage flavor. One thing great about Martin's is that they serve their butter in a butter bowl warm enough that it spreads easily or just nice to dip your bread right into. The service is very quick and efficient. The patio, bar and indoor tables offer a nice choice of seating. One of the best experiences is happy hour when everything, food and beverages, is half price. There has been confusion over the exact hours. We line up at 3:45 and the door opens at 4 pm. The menu said 4-5 pm was the 50% happy hour discount. So we ordered everything immediately. Upscale restaurant with a classic yet unique menu right on Duval. I searched everywhere for lobster risotto and was so pleasantly surprised when they had today as a special. It was delicious! The lobster was so tender and the risotto perfectly cooked. My husband had the Beef Wellington - also delicious and perfectly cooked - especially with the added cognac flavor. My only complaint was the portions were SO big. We only ate here one night, but could have easily done more. We had the Jager Schnitzel and shared spaetzle and red cabbage. We went here for dinner on a hot Key West evening. We first sat at the bar and the bartender rudly told my husband "no tank tops at my bar!" I pointed out that it was a sleeveless shirt, not a tank top but that didn't matter to her. I was wearing a sleevless summer dress and apparently that was okay. It's one thing if you post a dress code or at least politely say "I'm sorry we have a dress code..." but she was just rude. This has to be the best happy hour in Key West. Skip lunch and arrive early as they fill up fast at 4. We shared several dishes, each of which was equally as delicious. *For context for visitors, all my Key West reviews are relative to Key West restaurants, not to places outside of Key West * This place has a nice patio and really pretty bar area. Unfortunately the food was just okay, especially for the price. We started with the burrata, and it was the tiniest piece of cheese I had ever seen. It also wasn't at the right temperature so it wasn't super creamy. The beef Wellington was okay- it was supposed to be cooked such that the foie gras melted into the filet, but only one half side actually had cooked properly so that it happened. It left the filet a little more rare and foie intact. The fettuccine Alfredo was the best part for me, but it's hard to mess up! They have a nice wine list with some really good wines. Probably the best wine list we saw. Overall it was a fine meal but we were disappointed when the bill came and we saw how much it was relative to how okay it was. read more

This was our favorite choice for our trip in key west! Perfect place to celebrate. Loved the small dining area. You do need reservations well in advanced. Everything was excellent. The staff was very educated on every dish. Presentations were amazing and they took note of the reservation for celebrating moms birthday. We loved it. We checked out the menu in advance and new there were two choices for ordering - tapas plates and entree plates. We decided tapas plates was the best way to go plus we could have more choices. To drink - my husband told them to surprise him with gin - a gin martini with a blue cheese stuffed olive. I got the Key West Sunrise to start with which was lovely - and beautiful. We began with the caprese salad. The cherry tomatoes were a lovely touch and their balsamic glaze was a great touch. For mains we enjoyed - For my husband escargot and lamb chops. Customers are not important here. It's clear that the owner defends their staff for poor customer service and rude behavior. He shows arrogance and says we are not welcome. Alex our server was great with suggestions and the service was impeccable. I think he said they have been in business over 39 years. We are visiting and could not be happier with our choice. So disappointed. Was so looking forward to a fabulous night... not at Martin's. After had read the reviews, I thought this would be a good place to celebrate a special night. But instead it was way way over priced and only average food. Server was ok not great. Lobster, my fav, was a little salty and served rather cold. For $72 I was expecting much more.
