I asked for just a bit thicker than what I had, but some are thin some thick, I had coffin shape, told her I wanted to keep it as I saw the think fill was making them square, she said they look square to me, so I said look at my other hand she said don't worry I can fix it. Definitely DO NOT recommend this place. I was looking for something local and this is down the street from my work so I decided to give them a try. Big mistake, I understand different salons can vary on the time and quality, but 2 hours it's just ridiculous, the shape is terrible. I don't know how they got good reviews. The place is dirty and crowded, If it wasn't because I had somewhere to be that night I would have walked away. I don't like writing bad reviews but she was rude and told me she was tired, so why take my appointment? It's not fair to me, I'm paying full price for the service. This is by far the best pedicure I have ever gotten. I haven't even gotten home yet & I had to write this review! Not only is the finished product beautiful- paint is consistent & neat, filing is even-but my feet actually feel amazing. They are soft & hydrated I feel like I had so much more done than a pedicure. Going here made me realize how low my standards were before for a pedicure. I'm used to paying $50-$60 for an unsatisfactory job, but here a gel pedicure is only $37. Very small and out of the way and you'll miss it if you aren't careful, but I like that about this place. I needed somewhere in a hurry and at the last moment and while I was on this side of the bridge and I was so fortunate to stumble upon here all the precautions in the era of C19 were taken and I was treated safely and with respect. We did a screen before I called and I was screened again when I came in. She also took her temp to show me she wasn't showing signs of a temp as well. But do call for appointments only. She only takes appts because of our current situation, which is understandable. But still, this was a wonderful experience, my gel set was quick, clean and what I wanted. And it was worth the price. I am surprised that I have not reviewed this place yet. As a family we have been going here for the last 5 years. It seems like they have not changed their prices durning that time as well. $11 for a youth male haircut. $12 for a female trim. I get my ears waxed, I hate that old man ear hair, and it is $10. You might say that you get what you pay for. In this case, don't be fooled by the low cost. They do a great job, a testament to the fact that we have been going here for the last 5 years. My nail specialist was Tee (sorry if I didn't spell it correct) and she was wonderful, sweet and most important she took her time. If you are looking for a dirty place where you are not greeted and you are taken later than your appointment time then by golly this is the place for you!! I was referred to this place because it was "affordable". Ever heard of the saying: "you get what you pay for?" Well yes, this place is just that. I am very glad I only got a gel manicure because I would have not dared trust this place with my toes! And yes, this will be the last time I ever come back. First - I showed up at my appointment time (6:15) and wasn't taken until 6:25. I don't know about you but 10 min is 10 min especially when you bring your kid with you. The lady didn't even greet me! I'm the one who had to tell her that I had a 6:15 appointment. Then for whatever reason she just couldn't get the shape down. It could of been because her nail file was falling apart and it could no longer do it's intended job. So I'm sure that meant everyone else nails had been filed on that thing for a while. I had to remind her of the shape I wanted because I believe in her heart she wanted me to want them squared but I wanted them oval - not that hard people but for her a real challenge. Then to top it off I wanted a light color. Not sure what it would look like on my brown skin and originally I asked for just one layer which would have been fine but NO, she said it would look bad. I know it would look bad with two layers because then it wouldn't compliment my skin! And I walked out with just that. I got the privilege of leaving this place with my nails shaped incorrectly, a color that doesn't compliment my skin and no arm massage or anything. I'm telling you this place is a gem - if that's the kind of service you are looking for and for $23 waisted dollars I guess you just can't go wrong. read more

There were only two women working when I went for my 5:00 appointment for manicures for two people. I felt bad for the women, because they had several clients all over the place and people coming in for drop-ins, so I don't fault them for taking a while to try and get everyone done (they do only have four hands). BUT I left the shop past 7 for a gel manicure meaning I was in that tiny shop for over 2 hours. Timing aside, the two women were very kind and apologetic about the wait. I wasn't in a rush to be anywhere so I wasn't upset. They spent a meticulous time on my nails (when they did actually do it) and they came out gorgeous -- perfectly filed and even. I've never had someone pay so much attention to the fine details (she even held my hand to the light as she filed to make sure they were perfect. Basically, if you can get past the waiting in a tiny shop, the end product is definitely not lacking. read more

Ok seriously why has this place not been reviewed more ?! It offers great services at great prices, cheaper than any other place around.!! I needed a place close to me (recently moved) that did nails and eyebrow/lip wax. I will pay more money for quality but always like getting a deal so I can go either way. I was on a time constraint this time though seeing as though I was getting married that Sunday and leaving for the Bahamas on Tuesday. The lady did such a good job! Took her time never rushed even had to tell a couple walk-ins to call or come by the next day. My nails still look just the way they did after they were first done even after the hours and days I have spent in the ocean. They had regulars coming in, the place was busy,I'm surprised no one is Yelping! These ladies deserve some recognition on here. I love this place! They do a great job! The acrylic nails last forever! I have always has issues at other places with the nails lifting after a week. This place I have gone about five weeks without getting a fill, because of my busy schedule and the nails were all good. The only down fall is there are only two girls and sometimes you have to wait. But it is welllllll worth it. They talk to you and focus on you. They are awesome ladies, Athena and Linda are the best. Until a year ago I usually got my mani-pedi's at a little place near work in San Francisco. I moved to Martinez a little over a year ago and still have not found a salon in this area. Every day I pass several salons on my way home. One of the places I drove by was this little crooked house on Alhambra Avenue. After an afternoon of serious yard work, I decided to treat myself to a mani/pedi. Lucky for me, Martinez Beauty Salon was able to accommodate my impulsive request for an appointment with less than a thirty-minute notice. Athena was very gentle and paid close attention to detail. I found them to be quite sanitary and used disposable tools. While I was waiting for my nails to dry there was another customer who had her eyebrows waxed, and it got me to thinking maybe it was time I did the same (after all it had been a while).
