I came in with a girlfriend and the lady who did her literally got up and walked away and didn't even come back. They did a horrible job on her and she was still done way before me! On to my nails... the tech had my big toe so crooked and tried to say it was because the one side was cut lower, well yes it was and he was the one who cut it down. I had to ask him to paint the whole nail and also cuticles were not completely done neither was the callouses. Now call me a little crazy, picky or whatever but when you pay 130. I spent $220 at Lucky V Nail Salon, plus a $50 tip, for a full set and pedicure for myself and a gel mani-pedi for my daughter. I called in advance to make sure they could do acrylic on my toes since my natural nails are very short, and I wanted a square shape for an upcoming vacation. Over the phone, they said yes, no problem. When I arrived, two different techs started working on me--one on my hands, one on my feet. I explained to the woman doing my pedicure what I had asked for over the phone. She immediately began speaking to the others in what I believe was Vietnamese, and everyone started discussing my request as if it were ridiculous or confusing. I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed, especially since I had already confirmed ahead of time. She finally told me she couldn't do the acrylic on my toes after all. Another tech came over to take over, but at that point I already felt so uneasy I didn't even want to continue. The woman who ended up doing my pedicure flooded my nail beds with gel--it was oozing off the sides and still allowed to cure like that. I didn't say anything because I was already so uncomfortable and didn't want to cause a scene. But I left feeling completely disappointed--and with nails that started chipping and lifting within a week. As for my fingernails, I showed the tech a photo of long oval nails. She didn't confirm anything, just started cutting them super short and gave me short almond-shaped nails instead. Nothing like the picture. I ended up going to another salon that fixed everything. They didn't make me feel uncomfortable for asking for acrylic on my toes. They did exactly what I asked, without judgment, and took care to make sure everything was neat and properly shaped. My nails have now lasted over a week and look amazing--and I paid much less than I did at Lucky V. This place charged me nearly $300 total for work that was rushed, sloppy, and made me feel embarrassed and unwelcome. I'll never return, and I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone looking for respectful service or quality results. They should really check their work before sending clients out the door. read more

I love this place. Nice staff. I think they recognize my mom and I now and seem to remember we like our pedicure water to be incredibly hot. I love their 2-week policy and I know from experience they honor it (if anything happens to your gel/dip polish within 2 weeks you can come back in and they'll fix it as long as you have your receipt. I also recommend writing the color on your receipt or just somewhere). It seems that because they're so friendly everyone who goes in there to get their nails done also matches the vibe and it's just a positive place to be. read more

I've been going to this salon for a few years and haven't gotten around to leaving a review but I've been so obsessed with how this manicure turned out that I'm finally writing one. Everyone who works here is super friendly! I've never had a bad manicure or pedicure, and I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. I've had a number of nail technicians and they all do a wonderful job. My dip manicures usually last 3+ weeks (they grow out before they chip!) so you get a good bang for your buck. I have been going to lucky V for two years and definitely the first 5-10 sets of acrylic nails I have gotten were wonderful and so so cute but as time went on I could tell they did not value me as a customer and the service they provided to me kept going downhill. One instance they put me with a elderly woman and as she was filing my nails she cut me when I pointed it out she dismissed me and my nails turned out uneven where another woman had to come in and fix them for me with no apology and the most recent time I went there I had a set from them that were for my graduation nails that I got about a week and a half in advance, they started growing out but I still wanted them to look nice for the day and I paid around 80 already for them. I asked the man at the front how much for just a tiny fill on the bottom of my cuticles because that's where it was evident it was growing out, he said 20 ok cool. Immediately as the woman starts on my nails as I mentioned multiple times I don't want the design touched she starts shaving off my design ! I told her no that's literally what I told you not to do lol she didn't apologize didn't fix my design and just filled my nails and they charged me 50 bucks after they completely damaged my design .... I am studying to become an ASL interpreter so I always want something really neutral and simple and she completely delivered and even tried out several colors in front of me to help me find which I wanted. This color is dip #009, Bubble skin. I also love their 2 week warranty, if you keep your receipt and the nails get ruined in 2 weeks, you can come back and they will fix for free! Bring cash for tip! You can't tip with your credit card. Your cash tip gets handed to your technician directly. There is an ATM machine inside the salon. Yesterday was my first time here. My appointment was on time and it was for 3 mani and pedis. I was impressed that they were ready for our appointment within minutes of my check in. You know a business has their shit together when they use iPads to check their customers in. They are like a well oiled machine here and there were many patrons coming in and out during my 2 hours here. On the menu they also have special treatments if you want to splurge. I chose a gel manicure $35 and a classic pedicure for $42. Total was $77 which I think is steep in pricing compared to the regular spot I go to, but I can see why after my visit. I can put a price on quality of the service, attention to detail, length/strength of the massage, and being ready for my appointment. Jenny was my technician. She got a fill and a pedicure, and she was very pleasantly surprised with how good the service was and how they took their time to do everything. Support local! This place is a little gem in Martinez. Everyone is friendly, it's clean and lots of options in the services. The owner runs a tight ship and knows how to keep customers happy and coming back. I haven't had a bad experience. If you are not happy with it though they let you know you can come back to get it fixed. I always get the deluxe pedicure. It's my go to for HAPPY TOES. I go with my boyfriend's mom as our regular pedicure date. It's nice because though the salon is usually busy, you don't feel like you're having to talk loud or hear lots of other conversations going on. I also like that they try to get you next to each other to with your appointments. We enjoy it a lot. Some tips: *Tell them what you want and how you want it so there is no confusion and potential bad review. Don't be a Karen. *Language can be challenging sometimes but be kind and talk easy and slow so everyone can understand. I am trilingual and patience and kindness go far when English isn't your first language. *You can gift a friend a gift certificate *They take card but bring cash and you can get a punch on the card. I made an appointment for two gel manicure/pedicure and one acrylic fill. (Three customers total) After paying $90 for one gel manicure/pedicure, I was told the nails were guaranteed for two weeks. I called 12 days later to schedule a fix as all ten nails have chipped, but I need a receipt to prove it. Nearly every time I get a pedicure here I have to tell the ladies that it's their job to scrub my feet... They try to upsell you on their creams and super massages but, literally a pedicure is supposed to be a relaxing enjoyable experience. They set a timer which they do not go over by one minute. Everything feels really oppressive and like a sweatshop inside here it doesn't feel enjoyable they do have nice chairs. There's only about five nail techs in the entire spot that are any good. Most of the time I have had my nails done here i have had to explain to the sad nail tech that they forgot to wipe off all of the nail polish or either did not push back the cuticle properly. I even had to explain to one nail tech that I need to have underneath my nails cleaned out. All of these things are very standard and should come without any explanation from the customer. It's really frustrating being a patron and having to school the nail tech. I don't think I've ever been to this salon and not had a problem. I've even got into a full on argument over there punchcard system. Their punch cards do not explain that you do not get a punch if you get a basic manicure. That seems crazy! If I'm paying for a service I should get a punch on my card I've never been to a nail place that specifies what you have to get in order to get a punch. It just seems really unwelcoming and abrasive. I chipped my nail yesterday and there's nobody there to answer the phone today, it's Tuesday and now I'm gonna have to wait another day with a chipped nail... I called and made an appointment for 5:30 on a Friday not knowing they close at 6 but was allowed to make the appointment (I spoke to someone on the phone). My pedicure was great but the lady who did my gel manicure was obviously annoyed, so she rushed. When I was sitting down with the women who was doing my gel manicure, she was getting frustrated with me because my nails were kind of rough from having to remove the previous gel color. Guess she didn't file them properly, not sure why that's my fault. Today is Tuesday 1/21 (appointment was Friday 1/17), my cuticles look like crap and my gel paint is already chipping. Prices are slightly a little higher than where usually go in Pleasant Hill. Most of the women do a good with my nails. It's very convenient to come here often since I live here. First time at this salon because it's closer to where I live but I do not like it. I went to get my eyebrows and lip wax and it was uncomfortable. There was no private room to lie down, you literally sat there and tilted your head back onto a small pillow the lady put behind your head. Then I had to wait for 7-10 min for the wax to melt. She did not do a good job on my eyebrows. I mean you can tell I had an extra pair of eyebrows but she just waxed straight across, not in an angle. I had to repeatedly remind her to get more. I was disappointed. Pedicure- I also got my pedicure (and mani) done. The water was cool, not warm. They don't have many color selection for basic mani/pedi. Conclusion- I will not return. read more

Everyone here is so nice. I always ask for Ana but really everyone is great. I just feel comfortable with her and she is super sweet. They follow all COVID protocols to the T! They social distance, ck your temp and have you sign that you consent to your visit but also that you have not been exposed. They have wooden plastic walls between spa chairs and they use disposable covers on spa feet tubs. Only taking appointments at this time. FYI they just did a little remodel and took down a wall to make more space between manicure chairs! read more

My daughter and I came here for my Mother's Day present. Our appointment was at 9:45 AM. They didn't start doing my daughter until 10:15 AM and they started my manicure at 10:25. They wish the service and they cut my cuticles on some of my nails on others. They just left the skin there they started painting my nails when I requested clear gel polish. They gave me clear with some pink in it. I had them remove it. I did not get my nails finished. Because they started my nails 40 minutes after I got there and we had an reservations for lunch at 11:45 AM. The Stylist didn't even bother to clean under my nails I would never ever recommend this place again and I will never be back. I used to be a very loyal customer of Lee for two years getting my fills and having my nails done. The owner is a liar and he spoke over me. He said that I only waited 15 minutes if that was the case, how did I leave without my nails being completed. Happy Mother's Day. This is how I'm gonna remember mine. it hurts me to write this review. I live right up the hill from this salon. I used to go here when I lived in Martinez . I then moved away for college. I recently got my bachelors degree in psychology so I am very aware when people are being passive aggressive and aggressive. I have been having very bad anxiety where I get super uncomfortable around aggressive people. Lee usually does my nails and this time Ut did my nails. When I went to Lee Monday December 30th 2024 for a fill, not a full set , I asked for sapphire blue cat eye nails. Turns out I did not like them so I went back January 2nd to change the color to a light blue chrome. I understand that when I went Monday i didn't have the full amount to pay. I paid $20/40 . I was informed on Monday that the price was $40 for a fill. Ut was extremely aggressive with doing my nails. Lee was there and noticed , actually I believe all the employees noticed and so did a couple of the customers. I was born and raised in Vietnam, I'm 100% Vietnamese . Even though both my birth parents are deceased now I understand Vietnamese more than I can speak it. While getting my nails done I heard the employees talking sh*t about me right in front of me. Because I know my triggers & coping skills , I chose to stay calm and not make a scene. Even when making my payment ( they charged me $86) I spoke in a calm manner . Or at least I tried to. The nail receptionist kept interrupting my sentences . I asked him if he could stop interrupting me. I told him I'm 100% Vietnamese, I can understand you guys. He then said "I understand and speak Vietnamese" tIn a very aggressive manner. That made me feel horrible about myself. He said when I came Monday I got a full set which is completely false. I can also prove that statement because they have cameras all over the salon. I also have my Venmo payment receipt I made from Monday. I don't think they charged me the correct amount. I tried to speak up but couldn't because he kept interrupting me. Overall the whole experience made me so uncomfortable & I'm very sad that I had to deal with this. I get my nails done when I can afford to because I love supporting the Vietnamese community by not only getting my nails done, but also eating authentic Viet food at local Vietnamese restaurants. it makes me feel close to my birth parents when I'm able to . I won't be coming back and supporting this nail salon location any further. read more

I've always gotten good service here. And when you leave they tell you if you get gel or dip and something happens to it within a couple weeks to bring the receipt back and jt will be fixed. I've never had to use it but appreciate that they are confident in their work enough to say that before you leave. I have had many dip and gel manicures chip within 2 weeks from other salons.
