Luci and her mom, Nancy, are professional nail artists who devote their time on giving you their best work. They sanitize and clean there nail tools everyday, provide a variety of different nail paint colors, they do not reuse the same tool on different customers because contamination and germs can spread, and they have comforting massage chairs for you to use while you wait your turn. I feel good after my dead skin from my feet was pulled. I'd come back if I were you. Locals & Newcomers, know that walk-ins are not accepted. Upfront, Nancy is fantastic. Great work on your nails! Having moved back to the area over a year ago, I have tried a number of nail salons to find my go-to place. (Everyone has their go-to mani/pedi place right??) I had really spotty luck with either unprofessional service, bad skills, too expensive, or someone I liked left the salon. I have simple nails. I typically just want a great simple shape, and I often bring my own colors.. and once in a while a fun french mani. I guess sometimes, simple can be hard! Nancy is great with your feet and your hands. Her daughter comes in to help after school, its a small operation. The place is clean and theres always fun movies to watch on the TV. (Big selection of DVDs!) And its great to find such a gem thats just a 10min drive from my home in the Martinez/Hercules area. Why am I giving only 4 stars? Because she has such a devoted following, and is a 1-woman show, it is VERY difficult to get an appointment. Be warned, NO WALK-INS. My schedule changes a lot and it is very difficult for me to have a standing appointment. I go in as needed. I try to at least give 1 week notice, which for me is already a concession I never made with past salons, and I still can't get in. We are talking weeeeks ahead that you have to book. Maybe even a full month. For me, it can be frustrating. For others its not an issue. But she is THAT good and I keep going back.. happy and grateful that she fit me in or there was a cancellation. But I have to have a backup plan if I need a sprucing up before a special event. read more

I have been going to Rose Nails since 2005 and Nancy is by far the best nail person that has owned that shop. The first things that she did was got new pedicure chairs. It was awesome. Then shortly after that she began remodeling everything around them. She has created a very relaxing and enjoyable spot for me to get my feet taken care of. From what I can tell, Nancy has taken the time to get to know the needs of her customers on a personal level. She has also Mastered her craft. Her daughter Lucy is also an excellent helper around the shop and does a great job of keeping things running smoothly. This is my experience: At first i liked this place. They seemed nice friendly people who wanted to get the job done right. But as i soon found out this wasn't the case. Nancy, is new to the nail business, and yes she does do a satisfactory job, she also does not take in the customers wishes. When i had gotten my manicure done, she had hurt me. When i had merely told her if she could go softer and that she was hurting my nails, she kept insisting she was right. I late received a phone call to MY house, from her husband demanding why i had said that. I later went back to the nail salon to get my nails done, and lone behold i was badgered again by Lee ( the husband). He yelled at me, and yes he was defending his wife, but over what? The fact that i said if she could go a little softer. My daughter is a witness and had to go through his yelling badgering the whole time. I still believe that they are nice people, i just hope their customer skills will improve. read more

Literally the best manicure I've ever had. I'm a newly engaged nail biter, and have been getting manicures and shellacs left an right to keep my bling lookin good. I happened to look a yelp for a new place in hometown of Martinez. Found rose nails, and was so impressed! She does take her time, so book an appointment when you have time to spare. You wont regret it. You walk in, and are served delicious hot tea! What!? The owners daughter is adorable and is very helpful. Her mom doesn't speak the best English, but it doesn't matter. She truly cares about your nail health and your experience in her salon. She took her time and even fixed the chipped edges of 3 of my nails. They use really good quality products and are very very clean. The customer service can't be beat. They accept Credit cards, and even give you a member card, get $10 off on your 10th trip! I went in to see if I can have my nails done & she was giving a pedicure at the time and said that she only does nails or any services by appointment only. I asked her if she had anything available and she said she had nothing the entire day that she was booked. This shop is run by only one person so walk-ins are not an option. I agree with the previous reviewers on everything they said. I have been making the rounds to the different nail salons in town. I like to try and support local businesses and want to be able to find a place close to home. Up until now, I didn't feel like going back to any other salons. I decided to check out this one based on the reviews I read. I have to say I wasn't disappointed with my pedicure. Nancy was very thorough. My toes looked fabulous and my feet felt relaxed and happy after a pleasant massage. Nancy has a great selection of polish. I don't think I've ever seen so many anywhere else! The shop is clean and her family is very friendly and sweet. I was offered water and tea and felt very welcomed. I like that they gave me a frequent visit card that rewards you after so many visits. I went one time for a pedicure and will definitely go back. The operator / owner is very careful about sterilization of instruments and your comfort in general. The place is very clean and very nice. I wanted my nails to be cut rather short and she did accommodate me. I came in also concerned about fungus being transmitted in nail salons since that is an issue. I questioned her about that and I could see they are extremely careful about that in her shop. She did an extraordinary job and I will go back again and again. The shop is small, but it is very comfortable, along with the massage chairs--very relaxing and quiet. The shop is a little hard to find and it is listed on Alhambra, but it is actually on "J" street in Martinez, across the street from the Subway Sandwich place. read more

Extremely clean, no harsh fumes, and the most friendly, family owned nail salon I've been to in years. The best selection of gel colors around, not to mention affordable! I can honestly say this is my new place to get my nails done. The new owners are ABSOLUTELY awesome! I get Shellac and she has the most colors I've EVER seen at any of the salons in the area. Some of them, I've never even seen before! Not to mention the variety of colors in Shellac, but she also has ALL brand spankin' new OPI colors! And LOTS of them! What a joke! I TRIED to walk in at 12 pm on a Thursday afternoon to get my daughters nails painted. There was a woman getting a pedi and obviously the woman doing the pedi inside. When I walked up to the door it was locked. I thought maybe I was.pulling the door when I should've been pushing. But nope the big hand written sign on the door says pull out! Nope, door still did not budge. The woman inside who was doing the nails had the nerve to look at me like I was crazy for trying to open the door! She finally UNLOCKED the door, she asked me what I wanted. I said I came just to get a color. She said the door was locked because she's too busy. So I asked if we could wait until she was done. She said no! Ummm, ok. I immediately left since there was nothing she could do. Obviously the little waiting area they have set up is just for looks. I took my daughter across the street to Vogue Nails where they know customer service and know how to utilize their waiting area. read more

I've written in support of Rose Nails twice before, and was extremely distressed to see a review here that was utterly unfair, horribly written, and in short absurd. Nancy's work is second to none. The salon is clean, the equipment is immaculate, the polish choices endless, the environment comfortable, kind, and relaxing. Every time I meet people in the salon it's clear they are as pleased and as satisfied with Nancy and her work as I am -- I have seen all sorts of people enjoying their pedicures, admiring their manicures, and appreciating everything Nancy, Le, and Lucy offer. Any fair person will go a LONG way to find a salon owner who cares as much or tries as hard as Nancy does to make the customer happy! Any normal person who comes to Nancy once is hooked for life -- there may be wackos out there talking crap about the salon, but they are just that -- wackos. I have been going there for about 6 months now and I have no intentions of going anywhere else. I agree with others that said you should make an appointment and trust me Nancy is worth it. Let me start off by saying that yes, I AM a real customer of this nail shop and no, i don't usually write reviews. However, I love this place so much that I just had to write something. I've tried many different nails salons in this area of the East Bay and have never really fallen in love with any of them. One night I was running late and HAD to get a gel manicure for an event the next day so I decided to go to Rose's (It's right next to my home). I couldn't have been more pleased. I was admittedly nervous at first because it's a small establishment with only Nancy working but she, her daughter, and her husband made me very comfortable. What I left with was the BEST gel manicure I have ever had. It was much thinner than other gel manicures, my nails felt much less chunky and it lasted for 3 weeks with barely a chip which for me is crazy! I've been back three times since and love that she knows me by name when I call to make an appointment. How many businesses can do that now a days? For those who complain about her English I have to say that I believe it is steadily getting better. The only con I could really see is that if I wanted to get a manicure and a pedicure at the same time it would take awhile because it's only her doing the work. I would also suggest that you make an appointment because again, it's only her working there so if she is working on someone else you would probably have to wait awhile. I always make an appointment and get seen right away. My advice, visit this place soon! read more
