My Bang/Neck Trim with Mariel at * Citrus Salon - Martinez On Tuesday, 19 May, 2026 12:45 PM went absolutely fantastic!! Love it. Amazing! read more

I've been a long time customer of Citrus and have been going since I moved to the East Bay. I normally get my haircut there at least a couple times a year but recently more often since I now have shorter hair. I normally don't preschedule so I see multiple different hair stylists which may or may not be a good thing. I recently prescheduled an appointment and was running late so I gave a call to the salon. The woman on the phone was short and slightly obnoxious in that she was almost happy to tell me I would need to reschedule and still pay 100% for my cancellation. I did not cancel anything and it was a forced cancellation. I even asked if there was a late fee I could pay or reschedule it and only pay 50% for rescheduling fee since I've been a customer for so long but once again, she sounded happy to tell me no. I understand that being late is 100% my fault but I've also had to wait for my stylist for 10-15 mins when arriving on time so they are also not 100% punctual. This left a bitter taste in my mouth and I will unfortunately not be going back anymore. read more

I absolutely adore getting my hair done by Kaitlyn. She's incredibly attentive to my needs and preferences, whether it's my previous haircut or any specific requests I have. I particularly appreciate her attention to detail, such as providing cold water and massages during the haircut. Thank you so much for this fantastic pad haircut and for taking me earlier than usual. I truly appreciate it! read more

I've been going to the salon for a very long time. There has been very many changes in staffing as most places usually do. I've given them many chances and have finally concluded service is not the best. read more

I have been going to this salon for a few years, I was always going to the same girl but she needed up leaving so this time I made my appointment and didn't decide on any person in particular because I know no one else but my previous girl. I came in told the lady what I wanted told her I did not want my hair too short and my bangs just as curtain bangs, she did not know what she was doing she cut my hair uneven and did blunt bangs instead of curtain bangs, I had to help her "fix" the way I looked because she seemed totally lost, today I've been trying to style this hair and is not looking good at all read more

Citrus Salon - How is this a professional haircut? - Hair Salons Near Me - Martinez, California

This has been my haircut place for over 2 years, but recent bad service is making me find another place. 1) Last cut there was pretty bad and I had begun to rely on good stylists there and this one was new and I left without realizing she hardly cut much of my hair... really needed to go back, but had no time; 2) for the 2nd or 3rd time I made an appointment online and they cancelled right before it saying "sorry but our stylist got sick and went home"... sorry, but same excuse now two or three times, I actually don't think you are telling the truth, and that sucks. Bad vibe by the scheduling person. So, no more - off to find a good hair cut place. So - read more

Love coming to Citrus Salon. As soon as I walked in I was greated with a smile and got to see Alizta even a bit early! I gave her creative freedom cause I didnt know what to do with my hair and she did my hair beautifully! Love the new gloss and cut. She even styled it pretty for my date night with my husband. Thank you again Alitza read more

These are the *after* pictures from my root touch up at Citrus Salon. They were taken when I first sat down in the chair at a different salon I had to go to in order to get this fixed! Disclaimer - I believe I accidentally booked the wrong service at Citrus (well in advance though, with a note about what I would like to achieve so I feel like maybe someone could have tried to correct this before confirming my appointment). I am a brunette who has dyed my hair blonde for years and never touched it with box dye. This should have been such a basic service. I came in as a first time client and was told there would only be time to do some of my roots. That's not something I had really heard of before and it didn't sound like a good idea, but I felt pressured into going through with it. I really wish I hadn't. The right thing to do would have been to ask me to come back when they had time to actually do my hair. I really feel like I was pushed into going through with this fake service so that I didn't walk out the door without paying. Separate from the weirdness of only doing some of my dark roots, my hair had yellow and blue spots when I walked out the door. And all of this cost nearly $200. I sent the salon a kindly worded email asking for my money back because my hair is objectively worse off than when I came in. I was told they'd redo it at no charge. As you can imagine, I didn't really feel comfortable coming back to the same place where I just had this experience. I asked for my money back. I haven't heard back from them, so I'm writing this review, really hoping they see these photos and do the right thing. I seriously can't believe I paid $200 for this at such a well respected salon. read more

I have been visiting Citrus and seeing Karalynne for nearly a year now and she is incredible! I am very particular about my hair and always hesitant to try someone new, however she has exceeded my expectations! The salon has a lovely atmosphere; there are many stations but it never seems packed. The back room for hair washing is very serene. read more

I have a lot of respect for this salon and the effort they have put into trying to make things right for me. They have moxie and integrity. A lot of salons would have given up a long time ago and told me to go somewhere else without caring how I felt. NOT Citrus Salon. The salon reached back out to me after this review and I went back in and met with a stylist named Sydney. She asked me to go over what had happened and asked me exactly what I was looking for. She was very open, understanding and easy to talk to and I feel that she genuinely understood me. She told me she did not want to bleach my hair right then as it had already been bleached 3 times before that. So she offered me a full refund and told me she would like to make me an appointment for the future. I took her up on that and made the appointment. I just went and saw her about 5 days ago and I am so happy with the result. She executed exactly what I wanted perfectly and it was nice to speak with her at the same time. Sydney really seems to understand hair and knows exactly how to get the results a client is looking for. I told her I lowered expectations and that I was just going to accept the result and she laughed. She has a good sense of humor. When she blow dried my hair and I saw the final color and result I was SO blown away, relieved and HAPPY!! Anyways, I am so impressed by this salon and the people who work there, especially Sydney who absolutely went above and beyond and took a chance that a lot of people would not dare to take because of the possibility of it not working out again. Sydney knew she could fix it and she absolutely did. Also, No hard feelings to the previous stylists. I hope they understand why I wrote the review and that I do appreciate the efforts and it is nothing personal. I am so happy that I have found someone to do my hair from now on. So so grateful and 100% satisfied with how this was handled all the way around. Highly recommend. Will post an updated pic when I can. read more

Since my last review 6 years ago, Citrus continues to provide a 5-star experience! I've seen a handful of stylists here over the years and have never been disappointed with my hair or the interactions. How does Citrus find the most fun and fabulous folks? The most practical improvement since my last review is the straightforward online booking system. There is a variety of pricing options available and everything is clearly listed. This month (August) is Guest Appreciation month so my visit included some fun perks like spinning the Citrus Appreciation Wheel for a prize, a raffle, and a seasonal cocktail/mocktail. They recently added a stamp card, Club Citrus, to the guest experience as well with a complementary blow out upon completion. So fun! I appreciate that this salon goes above and beyond to serve their community. read more

I hadn't had a haircut in over a year, and walking into a salon after that long was honestly intimidating. I was nervous about being judged or rushed but Caryn was absolutely amazing. From the very beginning, she was patient, kind, and incredibly thoughtful. She took the time to really listen, asked questions to understand what I wanted, and most importantly wanted to understand my lifestyle so she could recommend a cut that actually made sense for me. I never felt rushed or dismissed, just genuinely cared for. The salon itself was just as welcoming. As soon as I walked in, there was a sign welcoming new clients and my name was on it. That small touch immediately made me feel at ease and seen. After going so long without a haircut, this experience was exactly what I needed. I left feeling confident, comfortable, and so glad I trusted Caryn. I will definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend her to anyone who's been putting off a haircut or feeling nervous about going in. read more

This is a great salon and has been a long standing establishment in downtown Martinez. I remember coming to see one of the stylists here when they were much smaller and occupied a smaller space across the street many years ago. Well, I recently had a baby and wanted to try something new. Honestly, just wanted to be excited about looking in the mirror again ( ever get like that?). So I came in and asked for a balayage. The stylist worked really hard ( I have very long, very thick curly hair) and she gave me a balayage. But to be honest, seeing my dark hair so light and in a brassy color seemed shocking. I decided to wait it out and see if it would grow on me. But one wash later, I already noticed my hair getting even lighter and freaked out. I called the salon panicked and nearly in tears. They were very kind and offered to darken my hair again the next day. I was very appreciative, as I was about to go buy some boxed dye and color is black again. Sadly, my hair does not look any different than when I started ( except the damage from the bleach). But I guess I just needed this experience to realize how much I like my natural hair. read more

I just recently became a returning customer. My kudos goes to Roni, the hairstylist and the front staff. I was referred to Roni by quite a few people, she comes with high praise. The front staff is always polite and attentive, it makes visiting Citrus a pleasant experience. For the first time Roni did coloring for me, I brought a few different inspo pictures and she explained which color she thought best... and I'm glad I leave it to the experts! I went lighter and loved the results. From what I know the Citrus Salon staff really support each other and shine a great vibe. They provide quality to their work and customer experience. I would highly recommend Ronnie and the entire salon to anyone. read more

I recently called asking for information about services and blowouts for long and thick hair. It was only less than a two minute call. The coordinator just hung up mid call as I was talking about how long my hair was and never called me back. I called back, but was sent to voicemail for some reason. I was very polite, so this felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. Some service. read more

I love going to Citrus for my hair cuts and deep conditioning. It's always been a good experience. The stylists are experienced and knowledgeable and it's just an overall good vibe. On Tuesday, my stylist was Crystal. While she is new to the salon, she is obviously not new to the business. She was so welcoming and gave me exactly what I wanted. Crystal is a true professional. I left the salon feeling pampered and upbeat--and I am already looking forward to my next visit with her, which I made sure to book while I was there. read more

Absolutely incredible! Crystal is an amazing artist who completely transformed my hair. I got an ombre "lived in" partial balayage and it was better than the pic I showed her. I am looking forward to coming here again, thank you so much! read more

Ash has been my hair person for years!! She taught me to be patient with my hair when lightening it and I'm so grateful that she helped me keep it healthy :c) it took several sessions to get what I really wanted ~~~ patience is a virtue!! WOW! What a shock....Went to my appointment a few minute early only to find the appointed stylist (the manager) was not in the salon. They were "stuck" in the Beaverton traffic. So I chatted with the woman at the desk for twenty minutes while she received text messages from the delayed owner of the salon... after waiting twenty minutes I left to be on time for my meeting. This is a salon that requires you "pay in advance". I've been in that traffic and it can be excruciating. That said, the woman "stuck" in traffic lives over that way and knows how bad is the traffic. Today they sent me a text message informing me the will not be refunding my payment. read more

Sydney was wonderful! I got a specialty cut and it turned out great! I absolutely love it! She took what I was asking for and put a little bit of artistic intuition into it which I think is great. I love this salon, it's so big, bright and beautiful first of all! Everyone is very nice and accommodating as well, it feels like a spa experience. Citrus Salon is wonderful, but the real reason I keep coming back is Karalynne. She is the best colorist I have ever seen, and her haircuts are just right. Karalynne is thoughtful and meticulous, which means that my super thick, fast growing and unruly hair actually looks salon fresh even after 8 weeks. I have dark brown hair that was not graying gracefully, until Karalynne. She has been able to dial in just the right color so that my grays somehow look more like highlights, while keeping my hair from going all brassy. She is a miracle worker. The salon is really nice too. The rinse stations are actually comfortable. I love the Aveda tea, and they have a great selection of Aveda products available. read more

I saw that on Citrus Salons computer (when checking out to pay) - a note that said: Warning customer is difficult etc etc. I had gone to them for over ten years. I stopped going two years ago... that was mind blowing. Since I only had a couple of problems with charges that I thought we worked out. I guess in their mind I was difficult. Supporting another Salon instead now. read more
