He came back with an almost $14K estimate on April 14. I'm 66 and have lung cancer, and needed the work done, so I signed the paperwork. Then the waiting game started. Over the next month I contacted the company at least 5 times by phone and email. First the wife/secretary was sick, then they were out of town, then "we're working on the May calendar", then another excuse, followed by silence. Since then my son-in-law and I got the ground leveled and prepped and are laying the pavers this weekend. Remember I'm 66 with terminal cancer and already have the pavers AND bullnose. It's NOT THAT HARD. The pergola's going in next week. It's very frustrating to deal with a contractor that has absolutely no communication skills. If you don't want the job, just tell me, don't jack me around for a month. Estimate expired May 14. Such a waste of what little time I have left. Three thumbs WAY down for this bozo.

Jeff was a master at understanding what we wanted in a backyard landscape, combining a side garden that was organic and informal with a central design that was more modern and structured. It coordinates beautifully with our contemporary home interior and craftsman exterior. He developed a plan for using our backyard in intelligent zones with areas for the hot tub, grilling and dining, lounging, and a central focal point which was the fire pit and seat wall. He ensured the views from all windows were beautiful and selected a range of unusual plants that would be mostly evergreen and water-wise. He specified plants that bloomed at different times of the year, had changing foliage, moved with the breezes, provided screening from neighbors, were scented, and attracted hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. We spend a considerable amount of time in our backyard and enjoy every thoughtful detail that Jeff included. His design included plans for drainage (including French drains in the patio), an underground sprinkler system, lighting, and concrete etching. They also carved out a lovely hillside with custom stairs, a spacious terrace, and game trails perfect for enjoying the view. LEI works with YesPlease.Garden (YPG) who managed the design process and Fresh Coat Restoration who completed the new fence. We are very happy with our project and would recommend LEI because they were professional, courteous, reliable, and provided clear and upfront pricing. Documenting decisions in writing proved helpful for keeping everyone on the same page. Any problems we had were resolved fairly, such as correcting the direction of our stairs. Aaron is a man of his word but prefers to conduct most of his business through texting. We first contacted LEI and they promptly scheduled a time to visit our property with YPG to see what was possible within the budget we set out. We completed the design with YPG and LEI scheduled a time for the project demolition. A later approximate time for planting was set, but that was dependent on the availability of the various plants we had selected. Everything scoped in the design was completed within the budget and any add-ons we later requested were priced separately and fairly.

For months, work was moving forward almost every day, from demolition prep and grading to hardscape, planting, irrigation, lighting, fencing, pergola installation, pebble work, and the finishing touches. The quality of the work was excellent throughout. The paver patio, carport, and front entry all turned out beautifully, and the plants, irrigation, and lighting were installed with great care. We were especially impressed by the rock and pebble work, particularly the dry creek and front mow strip. The mix of stone sizes gave everything a natural, detailed, and polished look that really elevated the final result. Aaron also has a strong eye for detail. He regularly caught things that needed adjustment, even when we had not noticed them ourselves, and he stayed focused on getting everything right. Las Palmas wasn't the least expensive of the three, but we felt very comfortable with Erik and his expertise at our initial meeting. He and his crew know what they're doing, make suggestions for better functionality, are flexible and easy-going, and to top it off are really nice people. We had a very specific, custom curved bench built by them and it was completed beyond our expectations. With any project during the pandemic, there were a couple hiccups/delays due to supply chain issues, but from start to finish the project took 2-1/2 months and we couldn't be happier. We love our backyard and will use Las Palmas for our future front yard project.
