California Fences (CA License #1099301) caused documented property damage to my private patio at…read more1900 Lynwood Dr Unit C in Pleasanton during a fence replacement project inside our HOA community. During removal of a fence post, their crew broke multiple patio pavers, displaced perimeter bricks, and exposed concrete footing. This patio was professionally installed and represented a significant investment. Photographic and video evidence of the damage has been preserved. The on-site supervisor stated there was "no way" to remove the post without causing damage. That statement is inaccurate. This is the second time fencing has been replaced at this property, and prior licensed contractors performed the same work without damaging the finished patio surface. Since the incident, I have: * Contacted the project supervisor multiple times * Left voicemail messages * Contacted the office directly * Attempted to reach ownership No response has been provided. As a licensed California contractor performing work within an HOA community, California Fences is responsible for property damage caused during the course of work. I have formally requested their General Liability insurance information and written confirmation of repair. I prefer resolution over escalation. However, continued non-response will leave me no option but to proceed through formal channels including CSLB complaint and civil recovery. I am requesting immediate contact to resolve this matter professionally.

From beginning to end the experience was great. I'd reached out to multiple companies, planning to take numerous bids, but amazingly found that few were unresponsive. FCR on the other hand was quick to respond to my inquiry on their website Contact page and were quick to set up the estimate appointment. The downside was I needed to wait two weeks. In the meantime I met the Project Manager from another company and was pleased with the experience, except that I never received a bid even though we texted several times. Rob Quinlan from FCR was similarly on time, but his amiability, professionalism, and communication, both in person and in subsequent texts, set him apart. He has excellent follow through, too, as our gates attest! He also really knows the ins and out of gates. When I said I wanted ours to be pushed open from the street side, Rob asked if we had a pool. It turns out that if one has a swimming pool, the gate legally has to swing out to the street. Rob explained that pulling a heavy gate is harder for little kids than pushing it, making it less likely they can access a backyard and drown! I was so impressed with Rob that I told him then and there that I wanted to move ahead with FCR. I received the quote and a contract later that day. It showed the options for the two different types of Redwood. Rob had explained that the photos one sees of beautiful fences are always made of the more expensive wood, from the heart of the tree. I had said that was the one I wanted, but it was still great to see options and prices laid out. I was able to sign the contract electronically. It was another two weeks before the actual installation, but the day of the work was fast and smooth. The crew and Rob arrived separately and on time. We all discussed every detail afresh, this time with Hector and Paco weighing in with their own expertise. There was some discussion among the men as to how and where to install the posts for the new double gate so that it would stay strong for the long term. I was consulted as well and made it clear that longevity and easy operation were paramount to me. I also mentioned that I was nervous about the possibility of there being a pipe to the house in that area, one that was private and therefore not marked by the utility companies. (Rob had done his company's legal duty of arranging the 8-1-1 Dig Ticket ahead of the work day). Rob took me seriously and walked out to the sidewalk, saw that there was indeed a drainage outlet there and told Hector to dig slowly and attentively. Rob left for the day and Hector and Paco got to work. Hector did find the water pipe about 12" down, right where the post was supposed to go. He had me come out and see the situation. He gave me two options: place the post over the pipe, in which case it would lack endurance for the long term, or go two feet down in the hole he had already dug closer to the house. I opted for the deep hole and the reliable fence. I was glad to have been consulted. I was grateful for Hector's having found the pipe without damaging it. Both gates and the small fence surrounding them were completed between 8am and 3pm. The areas were all cleaned up. Hector had me come out and assess the work. The gates have easy and sturdy hardware on them. They open and close with ease, swinging into the backyard as specified. They're attractive, substantial, and show every sign of enduring. I knew from the good communication that I could simply hand the check to Hector. Rob was going to come by to make sure I was happy but I said I was exceedingly pleased and insisted he didn't need to. He followed up with a text nevertheless to double check and I gave him a glowing, detailed review. Later that day I received an invoice showing I had paid. I couldn't be any happier than to have trusted this work to FCR Fence & Deck.

Also, while discussing the fence repair I brought up my busted side gate and he gave me a good price on a steel framed gate, which sounded much better than the wood framed one I had. Melvin, Eduardo, Mauricio, (and a 4th guys whose name I didn't get) did a great job. Clearly these guys are technicians and not just laborers. They measured twice (maybe 3 times) and cut once. New Moon Landscape, did an absolutely amazing job in resolving ALL the water leaks, inactive sprinklers, broken lines, clogged pipes & malfunctions with things associated with water control on my entire property (front, side & back yards). I bought my home 53 years ago. I'm now 80 & MUST be very careful with who I choose to work at my home & garden. BINGO!! Great Choice!! They are HARD WORKERS!! I was shown all the damage they found & everything was explained to me each day. They were polite, had quick response times & worked until dark some nights. They are extremely Knowledgeable & Experienced, great at trouble shooting EVERY problem that arose, had creative ways for repairs in tight situations. I was present much of the time & from day one could sense they were conscientious, HONEST & worked with INTEGRITY. Deserving of my trust & I FELT my property would be safe from any further water damage. I previously had, what I called "Irrigation Agitation & Frustration". Now I know my water bill will be less & my neighbors won't be asking me why my lawns are dying? The crew worked tirelessly for about 9 hours straight to complete the job, and their work ethic was seriously impressive. I really appreciated how professional and thorough they were. They made multiple truck trips to haul away and properly dispose/compost all of the material they removed, which was a lot. It was literally a scramble drill to manually water every day until we could move in - not exactly the home-coming we were hoping for. Gerardo and his team restored our faith in contractors. I can't say this with near the emphasis I'd like to right now, but it's important. So I'll try. This crew truly takes pride in what they do. They really care. They were meticulous, respectful, prompt with scheduling and work ethic. Every day, (my wife reports) they busted their butts! So let me back up. Day one when we moved in, we found a blowout on the first manifold of our irrigation system. No water to any of the 12 irrigation zones. Beyond that, we came to learn that tree roots and other problems had completely taken 2 zones offline, and there were an assortment of other problems all over the yard. The wasted water (and bill) must have been enormous for the sellers. Gerardo promised me that he would fix our manifolds (all five of them), plumb them into nice underground vaults, and then ensure every plant on the property had water. He did exactly what he said he would do! In some cases, I had to laugh... If I could complain about anything, the watering efficiency is more targeted than I expected. We literally have little spouts from multiple drip lines directly INSIDE several bushes. ZERO waste. I've been running this thing daily to try and coax what were dying plants back to life. But I think my water bill may still be less than my prior home. Our previously dying plants are greening up. Gerardo fixed all the wiring, programmed my controller, and set us up with a VERY automated yard. The work is beautiful! FAR better than any irrigation system I've had before. Gone are our multiple PVC towers. Now we have beautiful, invisible, underground access panels. Our yard NOW does what we thought it was going to from day 1. Do yourself a favor. Your search for a landscaping company needs to no further. This is your landscaping company.

Jeremy was punctual, polite and didn't break a sweat addressing all my issues. He had everything completed in record time. The entire process was handled professionally from the start here on Yelp, to the initial inspection to the estimating to the scheduling of the job and performing the work to completion. I was so impressed I recommended the company to my father in law, who is also using them now. I know their capabilities go way beyond my simple job. They were always booked - which is a good sign - but that meant it was challenging to get them on the schedule. But when available, they did great work at reasonable rates. Eventually, the company was sold and the new owner changed the business model a bit. The initial bids were the same - basically truck roll fee + labor with materials to be billed after job completion. The big difference was they no longer provided itemized material costing and the materials markup was much higher than other irrigation vendors we've used. In addition, this change was not noticed before the job was completed and they refused to itemize despite multiple requests. Again, they've always done great work for us and if not concerned with paying a significant markup for materials, then possibly a good fit for you.

We originally called Jeff to talk about fixing our drainage issues - our yard would flood every time it rained, and pool near the patio and foundation. Jeff was so thorough and explained where all our pain points were and how we could most effectively fix them. We decided to install French drains and pumps on both sides of the house to get water moving the right direction. Once we started digging, Jeff and his team realized we could make the drainage work without pumps by grading the yard differently - saving us tons of money! Naturally, we got excited and decided to increase the scope of work to include more landscaping, a few footpaths, small seating area, a bunch of sod for a new lawn, irrigation and a ton of new plants and trees. Jeff and Courtney checked in with us about budget throughout the whole project, making sure to send us new estimates when I got excited about adding something else to the revamp. The team onsite were great - personable, on time, respectful, and they also seemed to really enjoy working with each other, which we felt was a good sign. I absolutely adore my new outdoor space and we anticipate enjoying it with our family for many years to come. If we ever need more work done, I'm calling TriValley!

For the past two years I was watering my lawn all the time, sometimes twice a day during Summer and whenever we vacationed or left home for a week I was always worried about the lawn dying and all the effort it would take to regrow. It started to become a chore rather than something enjoyable. We finally decided to get a Sprinkler System installed and so glad we found Jon. Communication was great right away with super fast replies on Yelp and I believe Jon even came the next day for an estimate. He finished the sprinkler system in less than a week which is what he quoted with excellent attention to detail and a very honest price. The complexity was we were doing concrete work at the time so there were two contractors at our house at the same time. He set me up with a 3 zone system, the front area is exposed to a lot of sun and I always struggled with keeping things growing there. The cool thing is the Rachio system he installed automatically chooses ideal times to water based on daily weather reports. You can see the "after" pictures which show my lawn is still nice and green despite the heat and now I get to water for pleasure instead of doing it as a task! I enjoyed bantering with Jon as well, he is a very knowledgeable guy and also very easygoing and chill to talk to.
