It ended up being a decent size job, with a fair amount of digging for the drains and demo of the old stairs, took a couple weeks to complete the job. Nate was a pleasure to work with, responsive, had great ideas about how to tackle the job, and his pricing was totally fair. Most importantly, as you can see from the pictures, they did excellent work. Finally, they stood behind their work, a few cracks showed up maybe 6 months after the job (100% not their fault, we deal with a driveway that shifts a ton from the weight of a steep slope we are on) and they repaired the cracks no questions asked and free of charge. I know he does jobs much larger than this but he never made our job feel insignificant or unimportant, and followed through like a true pro. I'd use him or recommend him again, no question.

This morning, my mom…read morecalled me in a total panic because our sump pump had completely stopped working (darn redwood frawns!). We ended up with a flooded garage and basically a mini-lake forming around the house. It was a mess! I called Muneer from Intuitive Landscaping, and he was absolutely incredible. He was literally about to head off on a trip, but he dropped everything to come over and help us out. He even called in Victor, who came in on his day off to replace the sump pump, get all the water out, and just take care of the entire situation for us. Honestly, it's so rare to find a company that genuinely cares this much about their customers. I just want to say a big thank you to the whole Intuitive Landscaping team. If anyone needs any landscaping or outdoor work done, I can't recommend them enough!

Ben came to our homes three separate times to answer our questions and assure us that all of our drainage needs would be met. They also had to do a lot of rescheduling to coordinate their work with the county's shelter-in-place rules, and they always communicated these changes to us in a very professional manner. The day the paving was done there was a gigantic group of workers and equipment in place on our street exactly when they said they would arrive in the morning, and the entire 3-house project was completed in four hours. I'd hire JV Lucas again with no reservations! Dennis Cathey (Oakland hills)

I understand they need clearance for trucks, but I had *just* paid Ponderosa $1125 to trim that very tree, fixing PG&E's previous hack job. You're pavers, not arborists. If you need trimming done, tell me in advance and I'll get it done right. Then, they used illegal gas-powered leaf blowers to shoo leaves off the street: lazy, against the law, and passive-aggressive, as they blew these leaves directly into our driveway--twice. They could've used a leaf vacuum truck or a Black-n-Decker leaf vacuum. They also left two open bottles of chemical slurry (generated from their job) on my neighbor's median strip for several weeks. Any animal or transient could have ingested or knocked over this liquid. Finally, they tore all my posters advertising our driveway concert off my tree, my neighbor's tree, and two street signs. Their micro- and macro- aggressions, disrespectfulness, boorishness and block-headed behavior will not be forgotten.

They were super responsive in coming out to our house to measure the area, show us the paver options and schedule us. The finished backyard looks excellent and the quality of the construction appears high. Vanessa specifically provided excellent, white-glove service throughout the entirety of the project and was super responsive to all of our communication. We did have a number of issues arise with the crew (mainly excessive dust seeping into our house and trash being left behind on the neighbor's property line), as well as the accounting department (an accidental attempt at overcharging us), but Vanessa always did an excellent job of troubleshooting these issues and helping to guide everybody towards a resolution. This was a technically challenging project involving a steep hill and very mature redwood roots. Standout qualities of this company are: 1. Ease of quoting process Before coming out in person, they were able to give us a ballpark price based on dimensions, fence type, and site images. This allowed me to decide whether to move forward and I thought this was really respectful of my time. Then, Dago, the owner, came for the site visit and to discuss details. 2. No bait and switch In ironing out the details, there was some miscommunication about whether staining was included. Dago was able to meet us halfway with the price increase. This honest business style continued throughout the project and no change orders or unexpected price increases happened. 3. Detail oriented Throughout the project, we discussed details such as fence posts placement relative to tree roots, post height, etc. Dago was both available in person and by email via his assistant Maria. It was also nice to have responses confirmed in writing so that things were clear and there would be no bait and switch. 4. Personality Dago is a really nice person and I enjoy speaking with his about his geriatric dogs, etc. This also helped me not feel anxious about the project, because I felt that I could trust him. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range, another was around $12K, and an outlier was above $20K. Dago's price was the lowest quote (with minute differences in material) and we are very glad we went with him!
