We were seated in the upstairs area which where it has 2 bars , order thru the bartender and the food came within 15 mins or so. Vibe is lovely, music on jammin to Bon Jovi and others . And I love the fact it goes out to outdoor seating area with beautiful views. Oh you can also come straight outside if you have your pup with you! Now onto the food, drinks were delicious, my niece cucumber mint mocktail was so refreshing too. And my white chocolate martini was so good! Onto the food, we got whipped ricotta (yummy!) , crispy chicken littles (pretty good), and crispy chicken fried rice. Now on this one, gotta stay I wasn't expecting 2 chicken legs and fried rice... but more chicken, though for the taste, a little bit too salty and mush to my liking . Some people may like it but I'll most likely be ordering something else next time.

I ordered a chicken cheesesteak with the fixin's on top. Delicious but if I'm being picky... more cheese! Food was delicious. The man who waited on me was super friendly and checked in often to see how I was doing. Based on his recommendation, I decided to try one of their cheesesteaks, with sautéed mushrooms and onions, accompanied by sweet potato fries. The sandwich was piping hot when it was served. I'm not sure if I burned my tastebuds on the first few bites, but I found the sandwich to have very little taste. The nice man came back and pointed out the all of hot sauces, so I opted for a chipotle flavored one, which helped boost the flavor of the sandwich. The sweet potato fries were really tasty, but some were a little soggy. This place is definitely a local favorite in the Canton area and I can see why, with such friendly and attentive service.

And this led to me discovering just how much of a certifiable beer haven Max's is! For a Philly comparison I'd put Max's on the same caliber as Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen but with a beer bible on the same scale as Monk's. It's been a beer haven for going on four decades and it shows with their 100+ rotating taps, 1000+ bottles & cans, a 4 casks that feature plenty of local Baltimore brews alongside the finest from Belgium, Germany, and then some! They even have seasonal special events like a Sour Beer Fest in June, and a Rare & Obscure Beer Weekend in October. The bar interior was classic wood, with a huge main bar that showcased the many brew and spirit options. The bartenders were also spot on with their service and spot on beer suggestions. For food being so close to the waterfront had me craving some seafood, and the rockfish sandwich delivered with its Chesapeake seasoning and remoulade dressing. Each day of the week has a beer special at Max's, and Thursday meant that I was enjoying a discount on full pint cask pours. I liked that Max's had transparent pricing available for 4 oz to large pours and growlers to go on their menu for each and every draft beer, and the 4 oz pours made it easier to enjoy the 11% abv barleywine beer from a Baltimore brewery that I was curious about without feeling some extra inebriated repercussions during my ghost tour. It was extra details like that which had me really enjoying Max's and dubbing it a must visit for any beer lover visiting Baltimore.

The beers are listed by number, but nobody tells you that you're supposed to order that way. I ordered a beer by its actual name, and the bartender acted like I was an idiot for not knowing their system. And nowhere in the restaurant or on the menu does it explain how to order. And numerous other people were doing the same thing. How hard is it to make a sign and/or update your website/menu? On top of that, even if you have a table, you still have to go up to the bar to order. When the place is busy, it's a complete shitshow. You're fighting through a crowd just to get a drink while your table sits empty. Whoever came up with this ordering system clearly doesn't care about being easy to do business with. Note, my daughter had put ketchup on plate before realizing the oversight. So, when the MANAGER brought the food back, I'm thinking it was a show of good faith given the error. Nope. He had a smug attitude and puts the plate on the table where I immediately notice the original plate was reused because it had the ketchup smear. I asked him if this was the same sent back plate of food and he said "yes" and said the added the avocado. They UNWRAPPED the original wrap and just added the avocado and brought the entire plate back. I immediately questioned how that follows food handling guidelines. If they weren't going to redo the order, they could have just brought avocado slices to the table! The MANAGER had a very dismissive, RUDE attitude and so I sent everything back and left. I did tip the waitress cash because she was great and had got us drinks by that point. Again, she was nice and side-eyed the manager agreeing what he did was not acceptable. Apparently he also had a rep for being rude and nasty. I will never eat there again. You have a kitchen with seafood and meats and have no food handling controls? Yeah, miss me with the risk of food poisoning or cross-contamination. No thank you! You're rude to customers and have no standards? Whoever runs the kitchen should know better as should the manager. I can only imagine what else goes on in that kitchen. Dine there at your own risk.

Chose the white wine garlic over the Cajun butter and Old Bay butter options, again based on Yaya's recommendation. She said, as much as she loves Old Bay, just too salty on the mussels. These mussels were awesome. The cook knows, if a mussel doesn't open, don't serve it. All were opened and I assume they throw out the ones that don't. A great look! Place is very cool looking.
