Best example of a local neighborhood bar out there. Might not have food, but bring your own or have some delivered to you.

Great local bar. Bring your own food and hangout with local neighbors and some four legged friends while enjoying a brew or two.

I've had this before and the fish was thick and bigger than the roll. Yesterday, the fish was only a big as the roll and it was maybe 1/2 inch thick. Frankly, there was much more lettuce on the sandwich than fish! In addition, it had a fishy taste. This did not taste like a nice fresh filet at all. The chips were delicious. The server was hard to catch, but very pleasant. I gave him a decent tip despite waiting long for the check and the sandwich being unsatisfactory (not his fault although he never came back, and I could not voice my discontent). I'm in no hurry to return--which is sad because I like the ambiance.

The place is incredibly clean, nicely decorated, and just welcoming. I was seated promptly, and my waitress recommended the Irish stew, which is what I went with. She also recommended a very tempting tasting flight, and I'm not going to admit to enjoying that while on lunch break. I'm not denying it. I'm just not admitting it. The stew was fantastic and really hearty. It warmed me up almost as much as the flight of... tea did. I couldn't resist getting dessert. The bread pudding was delicious and worth going back for on it's own.

I also got a mushroom lasagna and it didn't feel hot enough/ didn't taste amazing after the first few bites. But hoping it's a one off and would like to try some other things. We weren't the biggest fan of the chicken sandwich (I think it was called the chicken royale?) we got either- it just didn't work with the combination inside the sandwich. Seemed like there was only 1 person running the whole downstairs (and maybe training someone else) but he was a burst of sunshine keeping it together. Because of the 2 dishes not really hitting the mark but fish and chips are great id give it between 3 & 4 stars! Will come back for the fish & chips and try something else as the atmosphere was lovely and service was nice. Also looks like they have nice deals for every day of the week at the upstairs portion.

The only odd thing was that our server seemed to change halfway through our meal without anyone mentioning it. The fried green tomatoes (not pictured) were excellent and definitely worth ordering if they're on the menu. I had the shepherd's pie--it had great flavor but was unfortunately very salty, making it hard to finish. Overall, good food, great atmosphere, and a spot I'd recommend if you're in the area before a show.

There's no flash. There are no gimmicks. It's a local bar to go grab a drink and you're not in the mood for the trendy packed spots. It's very unassuming and great neutral space. Anyone can show up, any time. Everyone's welcomed. You can have a good convo w/o having to scream thru it. MASSIVE PLUS *smile*!!! From a musical perspective, all sorts of genres pump thru the system and the ability to make selections is much better than other bars, which is great. It's even better when your selections are getting other people to enjoy the music and their time there, as well. Always a crowd pleaser. Aside from a fully stocked bar, there's a great beer selection. I happen to LOVE ciders and there's always an excellent choice available. The bartenders are always welcoming and accommodating. People come to unwind and have a good time w/o any pretense. I really enjoy the Tavern for that reason.
