We sat in front of the fire and ate delicious food. We started with delicious fries with homemade curry sauce for dipping. So good. Nate recommended the steak and stout pie, it was amazing. This is the only bar in Towson I won't avoid nowadays. It's a completely different vibe than the rest of the sports bar type places around here. It honestly feels like you've been transported to a pub in Ireland (minus the handful of loud college kids). I'm a big fan of the decor and the fireplace that they frequently light throughout the colder months. Noelle is my favorite bartender here (Hey, Noelle!) and she could make you anything your heart desires. I'll admit, I've never once had the food here but the drinks are always on point and the service is fast and friendly. They have a free parking lot in the back for customers which is super convenient in this area. They also have some outdoor seating in the back too which is a new addition since Covid times. I'm not a huge fan of Towson or Towson bars in general (at least not anymore) but if I'm around, Kent House is the only place to be in my opinion. Cheers! read more

The Irish gun and whiskey selection was impressive along with the Irish beers on tap. We didn't try any food but an after dinner or pre dinner drink is what this place is perfect for. Food is- meh.... 45 minutes to get an order of beet salad, fish and chips and cottage pie. Probably a good bar only. Fish was small bites, beets were from a can and NOT wedges as described, cottage pie was all potatoes. Managers clearly enjoyed dinner in the kitchen eating freely. A warm place for a pint. Kent House is as Irish of a pub as you can get. Memorabilia from Ireland plaster every corner of its dark wooden interior, folk songs play softly over hidden speakers, and a menu filled with class Irish cuisine. I came to Kent on a dreary evening, thirst, and looking for a cheap drink with something to munch on. I ordered a beer on tap and a bowl of Irish stew that lifted my spirits and brought out the tastes of my beer. I finished both and ordered a $7 Irish Whiskey, a great price for the potent beverage. The bill came out much cheaper than I'd expected for some great food and drinks. The bartenders were pretty attentive, constantly checking up on my order and asking if I needed a refill. One noticed that I'd come in alone and struck up a conversation with me. It was a small gesture, but it made my drinking experience much more enjoyable. Kent House is my new go-to place for drinking in downtown Towson. read more

Almost empty on a Saturday evening, but still was a lot of fun! We went in looking for a relaxing dinner, and our expectations were satisfied perfectly. We were seated immediately, even though we were a large group. The Cider they had on tap was served at the perfect temperature and came out almost immediately. For the appetizers, the cheese fries are the way to go. Lots of flavorful cheeses and scallions leave your mouth watering for the main course! I had the shepherd's pie, which was different than any other I've had. I could have done without the side salad, but that's houw it comes. The lower crust tasted like Phyllo dough, VERY flaky, but not dried out. The filling was spiced perfectly with a good texture. Not soupy, but still sticks to your ribs. By the end of the meal, I was too full to even THINK about dessert, but I will see what they have next time. Our waiter was quite friendly, and made sure we weren't wanting for anything on his watch. I couldn't have dreamed of better service in any restaurant. The Kent House is on my list of MUST go to places in Towson! read more

This was the second stop on our bus tour after S&J Crabranch. They aren't getting 5 stars because they were out of the calamari and I'm pretty sure we never got the cheese platter we ordered. However, the pulled pork was amazing! The sauce had a good spice to it and sweet as well. Just the right balance. The fries were also really good. As much as I love anything carb, I don't usually comment on fries because well, fried potatoes are fried potatoes but they were really good. If I lived in Towson, I'd probably go back. read more

What a great find for a wonderful meal. The current owner has an innovative menu that makes you want to try everything! The pasties are awesome - perfect crust with a variety of fillings. Meat pies, Shepard's Pie, sandwiches - all intriguing. We had the Morrocan Lamb Pie and the "Berliner" bratwurst with sauerkraut on a yummy roll, served with fries. The Kent is a nice place to go if you enjoy more of the company of the guest you are dining or drinking with. The bar is themed and very home like. It has unconventional seating which sets the tone for a more intimate time with your guests, which I thoroughly love. I personally can't stand that strip on York road when all the college riff raff "aka" children are galavanting around the streets, crowding bars with their underage friends and just acting like drunk fools. The Kent house does not really partake in the festivities that torrent and green turtle promote which is great. It gives you a chance to enjoy the nighthawk with a more laid back cliental base. The Kent doesn't allow the overly drunk individuals to cause issues and such. The drinks are def great and they are reasonably priced. I was introduced to the Kent by a coworker of mine who shares the same views on bars. I would defiantly recommend the Kent for a nice drink or meal over some of the other options that you may have on this street. read more

I had the chicken tenders and chips. They were extremely fresh and tasty. Not frozen. Hand breaded and fried on the spot. All of my friends' food looked awesome too! They had tons of great beers on tap...including some local selections. What set this place apart for me though was the service. Our server was so attentive and knowledgeable about everything on the menu and at the bar. He was actually the bartender, but was also serving us. He was super friendly and just made us feel welcome. So my friend and I went this last Friday to have some drinks; I had a beer and Jamison. I was also very hungry and got some fish and chips. I gotta tell you, I don't know what was in that fish.... but that was some really good fish! Although I have never had any fish and chips before, the next one I have will have to be really good, because this place left me with some high expectations. The crowd was good, and the bartenders were good. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because my friend's finger got caught in a broken chair and she got hurt. In response to the one and only review, the Kent was and probably still is a hot spot for under agers. I always always got in with my fake and then when I was legal, half the people always looked like they were in HS. The bar was ehhh. Whenever they had beers on special, they always ran out before we even got there. I mean, who gets to the bar before 11? Anyway, it was a decent bar to go to if we just wanted to sit in a booth and chat. The music was always hit or miss, occasionally there was a DJ depending on the night. For all the flack The Kent receives for being a hotspot for the area's underage drinkers, the place is not all bad. People can sit at the bar, stand, or sit at tables with their cheap beers and mixed drinks. They have an alright beer selection by college/dive bar standards and aim to please you drinking needs. read more

I have to say, I was left wanting more. Our bartender was awesome -- thanks, guy in the Man Utd kit! -- but the rest of the staff left something to be desired. The food tasted like it was defrosted and then microwaved. Definitely not fresh. Any bar that claims to be Irish should definitely have more than the stereotypical beers, and there wasn't much of a selection beyond your obvious Smithwick's, Guinness, and Magners. Finally, the patrons. Every bar has a bad night. I get that. But when you have two customers who are clearly under the influence (and not just of alcohol), you should probably not continue to serve them...especially after you've just pulled them out of the bathroom that they were having sex in. Towson doesn't have much of a nightlife compared to its more metropolitan neighbor, so the bar was set low. Kent House still managed to trip itself up. read more

The Kent is a nice low-key pub with very friendly staff. If you are looking for some place with good drinks and food and a nice atmosphere to meet friends, this is the place for you! I no longer live in the area but Towson is midway between my friends and I. I will definitely suggest that we come here. It's open and conducive for group conversations without yelling! The food and drinks are reasonably priced. It hosts an adult crowd and has TVs at the bar. I watched the game and could actually hear the play calls. Everyone was friendly and helpful when I asked questions. I ask lots of questions!! Street parking is available on York Road and there are various parking options in the area. I parked in the covered garage and walked the quarter mile for a little exercise. There are spaces right out front, and I will probably wish I chose that option when I'm ready to leave. Oh well!! I have been here a few times for drinks w friends, and I will come back for drinks, but the food is atrocious. I got a Reuben, a friend got the mac and cheese, and another got chicken strips. Another person asked me how the Reuben was, and I said "...I can't recommend it to a friend." The meat was cut in impossibly thick slices and you couldn't take a bite without pulling the meat out. Hardly any sauerkraut (the best part) and way too much Thousand Island. It was really disappointing, particularly since it was around $10. If I order a $10 sandwich, I have decent expectations for it. Come on. I left at least 3/4 behind and drank 2 Harp instead. Doesn't have that great of HH specials IMO. But I like the layout of the bar and all the little tables to hang out at. Not sure why they have cocktail waiters.... read more

ONE of most rascist experience I've ever encountered! The owner picked a fight with my friend and I for no reason and told us to move away from the bar if we weren't going to be using the chairs because they were meant for sitting down and my friend was standing by the chair and not using it at the moment. He told us to " call our lawyer, since that's what u guys(black people) do" apparently. He then threatened to call the police on us for no reason. I called my bank and had my transactions reversed. Me: 29 year old, who was born and raised in Towson, coming up to visit a friend from where I currently live down near DC. My friend suggested we go out and get a beer or two, and we decided to go here, which I had only been to a few times in the past as I didn't drink much in my youth. When we got there, the bartender asked to see our IDs. After looking at my Maryland state ID for about a full minute, the bartender walked over to talk to one of the bouncers. He then came back to me and said he needed to see a different form of identification. Incredulously, I stated - and I did not raise my voice when I said this - "Are you F#@king kidding me?" (as a 29 year old with a drivers license with no damage to it issued in the state the bar was in, I was blown away by the notion that two employees could be so inept). The bartender then literally screamed at me "get the fuck out of my bar" and threw my license at my face. Easily the most unprofessional, incompetent employee I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with in my life. No comment on the drinks, as I ended up going next door to Torrent, which had an ambiance I didn't enjoy as much, but didn't have employees throwing things at me, which is a plus. Hopefully if you go here the experience won't be ruined by horrible employees. read more

Hard to say anything positive about this establishment. Between the uninformed bartenders, obviously fake Jameson (I can only imagine what swill they put in that bottle...kudos for being an "Irish" pub that does this), a uncontrolled crowd (unless you are black) you can be assured that I would not trust any food here either. You get what you get when you go to a college town for a drink, I guess. The owner should probably consider not over serving alcohol to customers too. The Kent is the place you go when you just want to drink some cold beers and engage in conversation with friends. Its nice and cozy with a tavern-like atmosphere. This is not where you go if you want to eat or dance, but rather if you want to catch up with some friends over libations and some great Irish music. The parking lot in the rear for Kent customers is also very convenient if you're not trying to find/pay for parking. This is my second night in a row coming to the Kent. Your "security" guy has over stepped his duties. Last night he slammed a patron on his head mistakenly for someone else then didn't even feel remorse after doing so once it was made to his attention. Then continued to scream at your paying customers to get the f* out in a absurd manner. Tonight he continued to use the same force and aggressiveness to push people out. We were sitting having drinks and he almost basically grabbed still somewhat full drinks out of our hands making us feel unwanted there. Once closing time came about, members of our party (of 14) felt as though we should rush out as to not experience what happened to the man last night. He then got into an altercation with a person of our party, who in return, brought attention to his actions last night. He had no intentions of having a positive interaction with us as we left your establishment...a place we have come to every Christmas Eve for years as tradition. My entire party and I are in the service industry and would absolutely never treat our customers in a similar manner. We love your bar staff and your establishment but we know that this is the only way to get your attention and address this issue. We would want the same feedback from customers to our establishment. I hope you take this into consideration as to who you consider allowing to represent the name of Kent Lounge. read more
