Stopped in at Sláinte for breakfast while on a work trip and had a really solid experience. I ordered a mimosa and the crab cake Benedict, and everything was genuinely delicious. The crab cake was flavorful and well-made, the hollandaise was rich and on point, and the grits completely surprised me in the best way. They were incredibly flavorful with what tasted like a horseradish style sauce mixed in, which added a great kick. Easily some of the best grits I've had. I also tried the Scotch eggs that my friend ordered. I normally hate sausage, but these were shockingly good crispy, well-seasoned, and not overly heavy. The mimosa was exactly what it should be simple and refreshing. Champagne and orange juice never fails. Total bill came to $35.25, which is definitely on the pricier side, but this is Baltimore and pretty much in line with what I expected for quality brunch and drinks in this area. The vibe is classic Irish pub dark wood, Irish scarves and flags, and a really cool display of fire department patches on the walls. It felt authentic and cozy without trying too hard. There's not too many bars in the area that shows soccer games on all of their TVs. This is one!! I stopped in on a Sunday, with a friend that's a soccer fan. I asked for a gin and tonic, made with a citrus flavored gin. The bartender chose a gin called, Gunpowder. I've never had it. It was a perfect choice. For food we went with the crab cake platter, corn beef sandwich and fish and chips. The crab cake platter is served with coleslaw, potato wedges and a sauce. The crab cake needed the sauce, otherwise you couldn't really taste the crab. Pass on the slaw. Loved the wedges. The corned beef sandwich was standard, nothing spectacular. The chips served with the sandwich were stale. The fish and chips were good! I'd get that again! I also tried the Irish Cider on tap and the Empress 75 (French 75 with empress gin). They have Christmas Vacation themed drinks complete with props from the movie. There is a full food menu as this is still a pub. I could smell food being ordered while I was there but did not get a chance to eat. They had an interactive naughty or nice drink with color changing cotton candy you add to your drink to see what you are! We have been to this pub a few times. It's always a fun vibe. It can definitely get crowded during peak times. Bartenders and servers here are friendly. Our most recent visit was St. Paddy's Day. It was fairly busy, but with it being on a Monday this year and many people celebrating over the weekend, we were still able to score a spot at the bar on the second floor. We decided to share the leaned corned beef sandwich which comes with their chips (pretty sure they are house made and they are delicious; nice, thick, crispy). The sandwich was very tasty. Stopped in at Slainte on a Saturday evening, we chose to sit upstairs in the bar area and there were lots of tables to choose from. We sat by a window with a great view of the harbor. The decor was rustic and dimly lit with music and sports games playing on the TVs. I ordered the Maryland mule and we did a couple car bombs. The waitress I was very friendly and from Ireland. Service was fast and our food came out hot. We ordered the poutine and it was pretty good, I prefer shoestring fries to their wedges but we still enjoyed it a lot! The restaurant is in right on the streets of fells point overlooking the water. It's a great spot for people watching and the prices weren't too bad for the location. I'd definitely recommend Slainte for a quick bite to eat if you're ever in Fells Point! read more

Walked in yesterday afternoon to have a last minute lunch with friends. While we were seated really quickly, the staff didn't come back until about 20 minutes after we were seated. We watched as other tables were helped and we were ignored or forgotten about but eventually someone did come by to take our orders. Our table had the egg white omelette (good), crab omelette (really delicious), poutine with the pork shoulder (good) and breakfast taco (an interesting taste, likely won't get again in the future). The brunch cocktails were also good-- the sangria is on the dryer side, orange crush is standard/good. There's some bar seating, two or three booths and a few tables. Such a cozy Christmas vibe during the holiday season! We came for lunch Saturday afternoon and were seated right away as a party of 7. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and an orange crush. The drink was delicious and the fresh squeezed orange juice was amazing. My sandwich was good, but I felt it could have used a sauce or something along with the crab cake to enhance it a bit more. I've been coming here since the early 2000's. Lot of places have come and gone in Fell's over the past twenty years, but Slainte has survived for good reason. This is a great place to grab brunch, watch a football match, have a pint, or have a great meal. The Irish breakfast and scotch egg are great options for breakfast or brunch but really nothing is bad on this menu. Lunch and dinner also have great options. I highly recommend the gumbo and the fish and chips. The shepherds pie is also a great option. Outdoor seating has improved with the pandemic, as for much of Fell's. You can bring your dog if you plan to sit outside. read more

I have wanted to try a spice bag for a long time after seeing them on Instagram and it did not disappoint. I have to say, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but I have to say it exceeded my expectations and may have been one of the best meals I've ever had. Tasted well and the restaurant was able to plate this dish separately for my friend and I as we were splitting the food. Very thoughtful of them. I visited Sláinte recently and had a deeply disappointing experience. The bartender's behavior was clearly discriminatory and dismissive, while other customers were treated politely and served without issue. As a person of a foreign origin, I felt unwelcome and disrespected. I wish no one experiences this anywhere, especially in a public establishment. It was disheartening to see such bias still present in a city as diverse as Baltimore. I hope the management takes this seriously and provides proper training to ensure all customers, regardless of race or background, are treated with equal dignity and respect. read more

This is a fun little hole in the wall. My hubs and I wanted to hit up the other famous Poe centered bar nearby, but they weren't open. This was a lovely place to hit up instead. They are a restaurant too - we got a snack while we were there, but I forgot what it was, honestly. We made some friends with the regulars there and sat around watching soccer with Garry from Liverpool. We happened to be watching a Liverpool game. This review is just for the spice bag, as I got it for takeout. I heard about spice bags on tiktok and I was determined to try one, fascinated by the idea of it. The spice bag came in a paper bag, packaged inside of a plastic container. The dish comes with potato wedges, peppers&onjons, curry sauce, and chopped up chicken tenders. The wedges were nicely spiced, had a slight crisp, and were addicting. The peppers&onions paired really well with the potatoes. The chicken tender pieces were just okay, a little too salty and felt like they had been fried one too many times. The curry sauce wasn't my favorite either, it was heavy on the ginger, but I'm not sure if that's authentic or not. The wedges in the spice bag were really good, I'd come back here for them! Cute pub that serves up a tasty breakfast! The portions are reasonable for the price and the service is great as well. The ambiance is very much one that feels straight out of Ted Lasso episode. It is also right on the water, so outdoor dining is quite ideal, especially if you have a dog. Our server even put out a water bowl so our dog would not be thirsty under the sun. Overall, a nice representation of traditional the Irish breakfast I know an love, but could use some work...and I'm always moody when places say 'authentic' but don't have soda or brown bread to offer. The Irish Omelet was packed with ingredients. Lots of thick, well cooked corned beef slices bursting out! Filled with green peppers & onions-that should have been sauteed a bit more- and just the right amount of cheese. The potatoes were crispy, moist, and juicy all in one- well-seasoned-perfect with a bit of hot sauce! Overall, it was a very yummy Irish experience, they didn't do anything wrong, nothing on the dishes was un-appetizing or less than delicious-but it wouldn't replace my typical go-to Irish pubs or my typical go-to brunch spots. read more

Stopped in here for brunch while watching the Premiere League games one Sunday morning. We were especially attracted to this bar because we're big Chelsea fans. We appreciated the decor and ambiance. We were greeted right away and told to sit wherever we wanted. I ordered the Pub Bloody and my husband ordered a pint of Harp. Not good. Only came here after Preakness because my girlfriends and I were hungry and wanted to be by the water. The waiter forgot out r water and was very disingenuine when we asked about what was good here. He sarcastically responded "well duh the cheesesteak is the very best" in a snarky way. The water was very slow to refill and like o said, the food was really subpar. I wished we walked farther to get better seafood instead of being lazy. The only thing we really liked was the crab dip. But hey, it's Baltimore. There should be great crab dip. read more
