Very frustrating experience trying to make a simple return at Ross. I explained that I had used Apple Pay, but the cashier had no idea how to handle the situation or issue my refund. I asked for a manager, but apparently the manager was in a meeting and couldn't provide a resolution either. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I had to be the one to suggest receiving store credit as an alternative. Not once did anyone proactively offer a solution. This store desperately needs better employee training, especially when it comes to handling digital payments and returns. Customers shouldn't have to troubleshoot basic transactions or come up with their own solutions. Extremely disappointing customer service. After leaving the store, researched why the last four digits weren't matching my card. I learned that Apple Pay uses a unique device account number for security purposes, which can differ from the numbers on your physical card. There are ways to identify the correct payment information and troubleshoot these types of returns. It's frustrating that I was able to find this information within minutes, yet the Ross employees couldn't offer a solution. This is something employees should be properly trained to handle, especially with how common digital payments are today.

Every now and then, there are clearance sales or employee or alumni appreciation sales including discounts on Apple educator prices each year. The District is an outdoor mall area that has a number of smaller shops, eateries and a Harkins Theatre. I live just miles from this area and make several stops here each week. I mostly come here to go to the movies or to the bookstore. Coming to Tempe Marketplace makes for a nice day and I enjoy all of the services that they have to offer. One of my favorite things about the District area is that they will decorate for the holidays. During Christmas, they will set up a very large Christmas tree and hang lights up all over the walking areas. They have showcased art exhibits like floating umbrellas during the summer months to draw in people. The District also has a stage where they will have live music and at times will host concerts. There are splash pads for the kids to enjoy when it gets hot out and fireplaces for the colder evenings. I have even done a one mile Kilt run through the District. It is nice that going to the mall has evolved to more than just shopping and has lots more to offer.

I love that you can come for a little shopping and end up staying for dinner, drinks, or dessert. The mall itself has that polished Scottsdale atmosphere that makes the experience feel elevated, and there's always a sense of energy and sophistication without it feeling overly formal. It has changed quite a bit since I was younger, but somehow it has maintained the charm that keeps me coming back. If there's one consistent downside, it's the parking. Depending on the day and time, navigating the parking areas can be frustrating, and finding a convenient spot can definitely require some patience. We got lucky and found a space right away. The escalator going up and down was out of service. The two elevators were operational so all was good. The plaza features many familiar named stores, a Harkins Theater, food court, sit down restaurants, high end designer stores and many boutiques. Stairs and escalators will take you to various floors. Clean restrooms are scattered throughout the plaza. Be ready to shop until you drop. You'll also find valet parking and WiFi in the plaza.

The pickings were slim, and the shoe section which is already small, was pretty wiped out. The employees weren't super busy although there were a few shoppers inside when I walked in. None of them greeted me or offered to help me find anything. I was eyeing a pair of booties, but I didn't bother to ask if they had my size or the color I wanted. I also didn't see a clearance section. I had planned on using my militsry/first responder 25% off deal that was valid in-store only which expires today on Christmas Eve, but it was not meant to be. The good part is, Lululemon usually sends that same email every few months, so it's not the end of the world. Hopefully, I'll have a better experience if and when I come back to this location.
