Employees given no proper benefits or vacation yet the board members rake in seven figures. When I came in I headed toward the order pickup section. When I arrived at the "self pickup", nothing made sense. I didn't have anything that corresponded to the number system they had so I didn't know where the heck to pick up my item. Their site didn't indicate they offered curbside pickup (I checked my email just in case I'd misunderstood how I was to pick it up). I called and was on hold about six minutes because no one ever picked up. (There were 20+ people in line and I didn't want to wait around there just to be told to go elsewhere; what's the point of pickup if not to be quick?) Finally I found an associate not behind a cash register and he went to get my order, which was in the back and not at all in correspondence to the system they had out on the floor. I guess maybe they expect people to stand in line? But that doesn't make sense when their pickup system says you should check your email to pick up your item. I don't know.

It's an older though renovated Kohl's and usually very quiet and you kind of wonder if they will survive the next franchise downsizing. They are in a strip mall and have a huge and open parking lot. Like most Kohl's they have a Sephora, a self pickup station for online orders, and a convenient Amazon drop-off station.

The Target at Arlington Heights is not my go-to Target stores, but I have been there twice…read morerecently, and I was happy both times. The first time I was there picking up a detergent that's out of stock at the other Target stores close by my home. I went in to also pick up a few things, and noticed that the layout of the produce department was more spacious, modern, and pleasing looking than the other Target stores. It functions well and I like it. The second time was a simple incident, a special shout out to two friendly employees who went above and beyond for me! I was going to pick up a monthly freebie from the "Target 360" app, which was a Super Mario Mushroom Plush Clip-On valued at $8.99. I received the app for free as a promotion from Target. As I checked that this item was only in stock at Arlington Heights at the time, I went to this Target to pick it up. Since I was not familiar with the layout of this store, I asked the staff named Milo (who's in charge of the self-checkout area) about where to find the item. It was a Sunday and the store was super busy. He still kindly checked for me. But his phone showed that they didn't have stock, and he checked that the closest store with stock was Palatine. I wanted to double check at the department while I was there. Milo checked that if they had the item, it would be at BB8. When he didn't know where that was, he even checked with another cashier for me. When I was in the back area where BB8 was supposed to be at. A staff named Anna was organizing other items in the area. I asked her, she checked that the item was out of stock, but she insisted to go to the back room to check. She came out shortly after with the Super Mario Mushroom Plush Clip-On! With a smile on her face, she asked me if that's the item that I was looking for. Yay, thank you for saving me a trip to another store. Anna said that the items just arrived and they would put them out the next day. Anna is a group leader, she definitely delivers great customer service! On my way out, I purchased another item and told Milo about the situation, just in case he would encounter another customer like me, haha. I thanked him and he was happy that I got the freebie.

Maybe it's everyone needing the same things I do, or maybe they just aren't getting inventory in. The staff has been on the patientless side and sometimes I get an irritated voice when I ask about whether or not they have anything in stock in the back. But overall you get the target shopping experience. I will say their clearance is always great if you're looking to save a buck or two.

There are also plenty of cashiers, so the wait in line to pay moves pretty fast. I love that if a cashier asks if you want to sign up for a Nordstrom card and you reply with a "no, thank you," they do NOT keep pressing you, like the people sat TJ Maxx do. I also love that I can always find my favorite brands here, like Free People, Lucky, Levi's, Madewell, Columbia, and so many more. The shoe aisle can get a little tight and crowded on the weekends, but some great prices are here, so it's worth the effort.

There weren't many shoppers, perhaps because it was a Sunday morning when we were there. The issue with Walmart like most other retailers these days is staffing. There isn't anyone around to provide help if you need it. This time was no different. The only workers we saw were manning the cash registers. If you know what you want, know they have it in stock, and have a general idea of the layout of the store, I'm sure you can find what you need. In cases like ours where we are not regulars and don't know the floor layout, finding items isn't easy and there is no one there to help you. So, for the cleanliness today and the fact they had everything we were looking for at the right price - 4 stars. But since there is virtually no customer service, I'm knocking it down one star to 3.

One other nice to have is that you are able to return site certain items to the store directly and avoid expensive shipping charges that Wayfair likes to charge when you return things.
