Rory was recommended by a friend who had utilized her services to obtain a wig. I went to her store and ordered a wig, paid in full and was never told it was on back order. Took three phone calls weeks apart to actually get ahold of Rory. They are not always open. And their hours aren't on the receipt. She was very nice and professional on the phone however I still haven't received the wig I purchased on May 5, 2023. I requested a full refund after a month of no wig, between her and the credit card company I still have not received a refund or the wig. Definitely, never shopping there again, I was impressed by her kindness but I am thinking maybe she needs to retire. I mailed all the other items I purchased back to her. This has been going on since May 5, 2023. No excuse. read more

My sister and I went to Transformations by Rori to get a wig in preparation for my sister's chemotherapy. Although we did not have an appointment, Rori, her son and Olivia graciously agreed to help my sister find a wig. The store is very nice. There are a lot of wigs, clothing, shoes, accessories, make-up. We immediately felt welcome and Olivia found the perfect wig for my sister! She was very happy with her purchase. She looks a bit like our mom who passed away in 2017 when she wears the wig. I have always fantasized about being a redhead. My hairdresser refuses to dye my hair red. I explained all of this to my new friends. Then, Olivia found me the most divine red wig! First wig she placed on my head was perfect. Sold!! I felt like $1,000,000! Rori and her son Soto are the genuine article. I have very long hair and went to a new hairdresser where I asked for a trim and had approximately 6 inches cut off. Needless to say I was distraught. I had been growing out my hair for 3 years and just felt devastated. I have never had extensions or considered them, but I was spiraling. Even though my story is not similar to the indeed brave woman who are struggling with real health concerns; I was treated amazingly. Soto was able to help me find extensions that matched my hair and even helped show me how to put them in. This mom and son duo take the time to listen to you and go above and beyond to ensure you are happy when you leave. Ok, funny story. About three years ago I was in Arlington Heights with a friend from out of town. She wanted to go shopping someplace unique, and I said that I'd passed this place on Arlington Heights Road that, from the window, looked like it might be a vintage shop. I suggested we check it out, so we headed there. Once inside, I immediately noticed the big posters at the entrance. It's been three years now, but I believe it was Liza Minneli. Or maybe Judy Garland. Or Joan Crawford? Anyway, you get the picture. So, we started browsing. I couldn't find anything in my size, but they did have plenty of plus-sized gowns, almost all of them sparkling with sequins. Then I saw the selection of size 12 shoes. And the wigs. And the fake boobs. And the clerk, glancing over at us with an amused look on his face. That's when I realized - I am in a drag queen shop. read more

She has a lot of really glamorous items- think boa's, etc. There's also a generous section for larger women. She is a makeup artist and does makeovers, as well. Inspirational Story My friend and I will be recommending this shop in Arlington Heights to every one we know. We have both undergone chemotherapy for breast cancer and understand how much a wig can mean for your well-being and spirit. We went to Transformations hoping we could find a special wig for my friend. She is back in chemo for a recurrence. When we walked in, we were also concerned we might not be welcome. We knew this was a specialized boutique and we didn't want to trespass upon the staff and clientele. We were welcomed immediately by Olivia, who was gracious, incredibly informed, and helpful. We shopped and picked out two wigs for my friend to try. (As a tall woman I plan to return to shop for clothes as they have chic suits/dresses and stunning gowns.) I will always be grateful to Transformations and Olivia's excellent care. We found a perfect wig for my friend's upcoming family wedding but the real "find" was a wig that matched her hair and normal style. I had to wipe tears from my eyes when Olivia finished adjusting that wig and my friend was restored to her usual beautiful self. As my dear friend opened her eyes to see the finished wig fitting, she said "it's me..." What an awesome, immeasurable gift for a cancer patient. I'm not real happy with them today and I don't think ill be going back. I've been going on and off for 19 years always done by Rori. No matter what kind of Wig I have she fastens it thoroughly. I get there today planning to go to Chicago then Melrose park. The Son says he doesn't want me to wear my choice of Wig, tried another. I said that's not what I want. Finally he fastens and puts like 1 Bobby pin to hold it????????? I'm sitting there doing my nails and texting after makeup applications. Suddenly I feel the Wig shift and just about fall off. I call Rori, who must think she's the only Makeup artist in town. She blames it all on me and says my Wig was low Quality, do it myself or find someone to do it after i pay her $ 70.00. I just had to know. I had never dressed as a woman but loved to feeling of nylons. I am a newbie at this and needed to stay discreet...I gathered my courage and walked in to Transformations. I was greeted immediately by Rori, the owner, She is a very charming and disarming lady who instantly made me feel comfortable. I quietly shared my fantasy. She smiled knowingly. Before I knew it, I had a sexy black skirt, top bra, black lace thigh highs, panties, a wig, and some nice shoes. I loved how they fit and Rori was very helpful as I tried things on. For that matter, the really nice TG ladies in there doing their own shopping were ALL very friendly (Olivia, others). The pricing at the store is VERY reasonable too! So after making my purchases, I left the store. I thought the two outfits I bought looked and felt great...but I still didn't know. I went back the next day and asked Rori to do a makeover. I just had to know if I'd look ridiculous or just MAYBE a little bit sexy. As she began the process from her heavily mirrored salon chair, I learned she was a former stage director and makeup artist. Let me just say, she is an expert & true artist. The cost for first timers is only $75 and worth every penny! This will sound immodest, but let's just say when Rori was done, I looked HOT :) One other thing, Rori looked me up and down and gave me my name: Andrea Kay. I loved it -and there was no charge :) So if you're a newbie like me, take the leap and go see Rori at Transformations. It is a great experience that could even change your life. Thank goodness for brilliant human beings like Rori who are compassionate, kind and knowledgeable. Rori graciously helped my family during a trying time. A wig was needed for medical reasons and the emotional and mental aspects of that need are overwhelming. Rori, though, kept the appointment upbeat and was extremely helpful in choosing a flattering and easy to maintain hair piece, in fact, two. Plus she equipped us with all the paraphernalia needed to maintain them, i.e., skull caps, shampoo, brush and helped us choose the cutest little scarfy hat. Rori and Olivia made me feel like a beautiful woman again, as I am awaiting my chemo-induced hair loss. As a redhead, it is very difficult to find wigs that look good with my coloring. Tonight I bought 2 redheaded wigs at Transformations. Apparently, the one I was wearing when I went grocery shopping after leaving Transformations was real enough to cause the store clerk to comment "beautiful color hair". This place is fantastic. I took my mom to Transformations to purchase a wig. Since she's gotten older, her hair has been thinning and it's become a great concern to her. She's been very self-conscious and anxious about the situation. A friend who'd lost her hair through chemo told me about Transformations and highly recommended their wigs. Although the place isn't that big, the number of wigs they have is impressive; lots of different colors, lots of different styles, excellent quality, etc. We showed up without an appointment - we didn't know we needed one - and fortunately another client who had an appointment failed to show. So, we had Rori all to ourselves. She was incredible. Very kind, very helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and exactly the person my mom needed to help her find a wig she felt comfortable in and just as importantly, could afford. My mom is thrilled with her purchase - approximately $158 for the wig, wig cap, brush, and wig shampoo that will last her a year - which was MUCH less than she had been told she'd have to spend for just a wig. After losing my hair due to chemo I went to Transformations for my wig. It was the best experience ever. I walked out the door feeling like me again. Now fast forward more than six months later and I decided I needed to get another wig just to freshen up my look for a very special occasion. When I called and heard the store was closed due to remodeling I was so disappointed. I was going to be at a wedding and I was also a reader so I knew everyone would be looking at me. I would be seeing people I had not seen in years. I left a message and I could not believe that Rori, the owner called me back the same day. All of her merchandise is packed away while the store is being redone , but she said she would try and order a wig for me. This was taking place just a few days before Christmas! Well, I got a call on Christmas Eve that the wig arrived! I just could not believe that Rori went out of her way to make me look so good for a very special wedding. I cannot thank her enough.
