I'm so glad I found this place. It's a gem of a thrift store. The prices are a bit higher but the clothes are of higher quality. I bought a coat heavy fall for $25 and it is slightly old fashioned but beautiful. I have gotten three compliments about it from strangers. I also got a very pretty sweater there. I love Lucille's! The store itself is well organized and has a large selection of housewares, furniture, and clothing. Recently we were on the lookout for a mid-century dresser and looked everywhere. The prices for mid-century furniture in ok condition are upwards of $500. I came to Lucilles and found the most amazing dresser for only $100. The staff was very helpful when purchasing the dresser and they were accommodating with my pick up schedule. The dresser had minimal damage from being moved through the decades and the price was right; plus, it was made from real wood and not particle board. Win! I did not purchase this but I did find a beautiful 12 person setting of German bone china that included plates, soup bowls, gravy bowl everything... and only for only $150. So many vintage, well cared for pieces for less than the price of a single setting today. Plus, these items have a history and if you're lucky you'll also find vintage items brought over from Europe and Japan. Highly recommend. Plus, the money made from the resale of the items goes to scholarships for students on the West side of Chicago. I mean, come on, shop well and do some good. read more

I finally stopped here today. Yay! Location is conveniently located on Rand Rd. near the Goodwill and Salvation Army. Parking lot is spacious and well maintained. Pros: The store is very clean and inviting. You can clearly see that time and effort went into making the store visually appealing. Cute displays, tables set, clothing racks are maneuverable. Not much to choose from as far as clothing for a 30-something yr. old woman, but prices seemed appropriate for then items that were on the racks. Lucille's isn't busting at the seams with merchandise, so the store was very easy to shop. This is definitely a place to check out if you're looking for furniture pieces. They had many nice China cabinets & hutches. Cons: Two men were volunteering/working the day I stopped in. No one said 'hello' when I entered the store or asked me if I needed help with anything. There were only 3 customers in the entire store and none of us were asked if we needed any assistance. No 'thanks for stopping in' on my way out either. I probably would have lingered a little longer, but I guess there was something about the nonexistent customer service that made me want to leave after 15 minutes. Some items were pricey. Not your typical Goodwill prices, but that's totally understandable. If the customer service had been top notch, I wouldn't have minded paying top $ for resale items. I'm glad I stopped in, but I don't know when/if I'll be back. read more

What a great resale place! It's revenue goes to support a school in the city in need, what a superior motive to engage our time and money. They have engaging workers, friendly and helpful. I've found several nice up to date designer clothes in great condition. The layout is easy to navigate, and a good variety of clothing from tops through shoes, and furniture. I'll be fair, when I came in there the place had been in its first month since opening. This may have explained the small selections. Though they donate the proceeds to charity. It has potential, and I'd come back to see if they have made progress if it obtains more items. Service was great, the person manning the store at the time was very nice and sweet, helpful. The difference between Lucille and other thrift shops is the difference between Target and Walmart: you can get a bargain at both places, but Target is a more enjoyable experience than Walmart. Lucille is cleaner, brighter, better-smelling and just more fun than a typical thrift store, and don't even get me started on the merchandise! I'm most interested in women's clothing, though they have men's clothing, furniture, housewares, etc. But the women's clothing all looks brand new - and the selection is definitely on the higher end of the spectrum. Lucille has just been open a few months, and I plan to stop by whenever I'm in the Arlington Heights / Mt Prospect / Palatine area. WHAT A TREASURE! read more

At times the staff seems nonexistent. On several visits to the store I had to wait or try to locate someone to assist me in ringing up my purchases. Hence the 4 stars. The quality is better then most and affordable prices on clothing. The most exciting update is the jewelry counter! This store is nicely organized, and the furniture is displayed like a furniture store with the sets also put together in "rooms". Squint and you feel like you are in Homemakers or Wicks in the 1970's-1990's (depending on the display). Generally, I don't find too much here. I did recently see a nice Dana Buchman coat though. It was very pretty, just a little too big, a little too formal, and the wrong colour for me. It was 40 dollars and may have been on sale. There was a 50 percent off clothing and coats sale in the store, but some items had a tag that said "Sale Price", so I was not sure and the volunteer was busy helping a lady load her car. At some point, I decided the size and colour were wrong, so I did not bother to wait for him to come back. Although I did not buy anything and the prices are a bit on the high side, I think under the right circumstances there are deals to find. It's worth a look as it's close to the Salvation Army and right across from Goodwill on Rand Road. read more

Hello. I lowered my star due to the sudden change of kids not being sold there anymore. I went there little over a month ago and found 4 dresses from Hanna Andersen for my daughter and raved about the place to my thrifty friends. One of them went there about a week ago and mentioned the kids section wasn't there and she drove 50 miles to check the place out. I wish I could of gotten a heads up from the lady that rung me up a month ago in regards to the sudden changes . The staff are really nice though and I would come back. Please reply to this message if you will make this ONLY furniture thrift store, cause it seemed like that's what the place favored more. Located right next to Goodwill and Salvation Army stores on Rand Rd, Lucille provides a unique shopping experience--the sensation of a "treasure hunt" that so many of us enjoy. What distinguishes Lucille besides the obvious--cleanliness, lighting, "aroma"--is its helpful & friendly staff, an extensive & ever-changing selection of nothing-short-of-amazing (and well-priced) furniture, and fashionable women's clothing. I stop in frequently to see what's changed--never am I disappointed! I also like knowing that everything I purchase has been donated, and the money I spend ends up supporting an elementary school on the West Side of Chicago. Lucille is the most beautiful resale shop; more like a boutique or consignment store. The shop is fresh and immaculately clean. The merchandise is displayed like a high end shop. Most of the clothing is current and the furniture looks like new. But the prices are definitely affordable for every pocketbook! Best of all, the proceeds go to assist students from pre-school to grade 8 at Holy Family School, located in a high risk neighborhood on the West Side. I was near this area and was looking for a thrift store specifically for skinny jeans - this one was between a Goodwill and a Salvation Army but I thought I'd give it a shot. I ended up walking out with a pair of perfect fit skinny jeans, a pair of gorgeous eggplant-colored jeans, and a Ralph Lauren high-quality sweater for a total of 28 bucks. The stuff they sell is high-quality, especially compared to other big brand thrift stores - I was sad that I didn't know this place existed when I was decorating my apartment as they made the Goodwill near my apartment look shameful. The associates were friendly and cheerful, and I enjoyed the atmosphere as well. I definitely plan to come back! read more

went here for the first time 2 weeks ago and it was a nice clean store. the people were friendly and I found some good lamps. BUT they really dont have anything that i need for my home. they have some nice furniture but typical resale old vintage stuff that I have no interest in. check your prices there!! they had a coffee table that was from ikea you can get ti brand new from ikea for the same price or I think it was 4$ more then they were selling it for. when i said ill take it for under half price (rightfully so since it was online!! ) i got denied. that didnt make me happy. but over all i will be back since the people were nice and they treated me well, besides the rat move of the coffee table lol read more

This is a wonderful new resale store on Rand near Goodwill. It is a large, clean store featuring clothing, furniture, housewares, shoes and accessories. The clothes are clean and pressed. Everything is arranged neatly and the prices reasonable. They will "dicker" with you a bit on price but not much. They even deliver furniture for a small fee and will happily accept your donations. Update: I have been back to Lucille's after not going for almost two years. My previous experience was put off by the high prices. This time was better as I saw some things that I liked, but the prices on certain items was still a bit high. There was a set of vintage Mikasa China that was priced very reasonably!
