This is spread out in different departments with a reasonably good selection of items in each department. Much of these items though, tend to be more for the beginner or intermediate level, with a limited selection of higher end items. Prices are somewhat competitive, not as low as the best sales you'd find online but generally not uncompetitive either. Depending on what you're getting, the price can be difficult to determine with the different sales structures and way items are labeled (especially apparel). read more

One of the few places around that still has a wide variety of sporting goods. Clothes and equipment. A variety of brands and the items are all of quality nature. Personally I've bought running shoes, golf clubs, kayaks, and more from them over the years. So no matter your sport this is a the place to go to not only find what you need. But a selection as well. I shop here pretty regularly and overall this location is great. The pricing is competitive, good selection, and the customer service is legit. There have been times when I just need to get in and get out and the salespeople direct me to where I need to go in a friendly manner and then I'm on my way. Other times I need more assistance and they are more than willing to assist (unless they are really busy). I had coupons which I failed to use when making a purchase. They honored them and I got $17. back on my card. It pays to use their rewards card. They are always friendly with great customer support and amazing over the phone service as well. I've been to this Dick's a million times (4 kids)! With a little patience and a little homework, you can get a very good price. For example, my last time here I was shopping for a pair of running tights. I found a pair of Adidas ones for $40 (on sale for $28). I had a 15% off coupon and a leftover $10 gift card. Awful experience at this Dick's!! I am so frustrated and disappointed. First of all the staff was not helpful at all when you ask them questions about where things are located or anything else for that matter they do not know the answer. I was there to get my daughters gear for soccer and there was two pair of cleats she was interested in one being pink and the other a pair of Under amor lime green ones when I asked the guy for the lime green ones in her size his response was that "those are BOYSSS".. are you serious. I then proceeded to ask him so what's the difference he says nothing. The only "girls" ones they carry are the pink ones. So what if my daughter wants the ones that are labeled boyssss just give me the size I asked for!!!! He said it right in front of my daughter too in a tone that suggested she can't have them because of her Gender... he went and looked for her size for like two seconds and came back to say they don't carry her size yeaaa ok buddy.. I can not believe this is the customer service they have at this place. The store it's self is very nice, very big and is stocked with all the essentials. There is a big parking lot so that is not a problem. A nightmare. I was looking for a particular brand of hat. Employee one told me to look over by the golf equipment, that they had it. I went to the golf department. Employee two there she said they didn't have that type of hat. I called the dicks 800 number and employee three said that that was available in the store. Went to the front desk and asked if a manager was around. The fourth employee insisted on helping me but then didn't know anything about how to find the hat. Called over employee number five who said they did not stock that hat after checking on mobile device. But they could order for me. Decided to go to REI. Bought it there. read more

The only thing they don't let you do yourself is check out. Looks aside, this place is consistently terrible. But why, but why? It's a giant store filled with tons of employees who scatter like light to cockroaches when a customer walks through the doors. Usually, I'm a pretty self-service kind of guy. But, if you see me pacing around something looking confused...you should assume I either need help or I'm a wondering crazy. Most likely it's the former. I don't think I've ever purchased anything from here. The prices never feel competitive and the store is laid out pretty poorly. I always feel lost with no map (or employee help). After going to the ends of the earth to find snow pants in the same size, for twin boys, at a great deal (because let's face it, who knows how much snow we'll get this year), these guys totally came through for us. We shopped online and drove all the way from Highland Park to purchase them here. Compared to the Target website, Dick's keeps their inventory up-to-date online. If it indicates that an item is at a particular store, you can expect to find it there. Why the three stars? This store is a bit grumpy and sad. It's not your fancy two-story layout (so I might be grumpy too), but I certainly didn't feel the love. Here it's not about the customer service at the counter, which we didn't really come for, but I have to admit to enjoying the special attention I get at the other locations. Isn't that why we still shop in physical stores? Take note, our snow pants are the store brand, and they are completely awesome! Come for the inventory...not for all the other stuff. read more

Customer service that you don't often see. My experience could have been one that resulted in the worst review I've given, but the PEOPLE at Dick's made all the difference. I brought my bicycle in for an adjustment. When they got to it, it was discovered that the mount for the component was wrong. ( The bike was purchased second hand) Getting the correct mount took more time than I would have imagined, but each step of the way, someone from Dick's would call to let me know the progress. Today they called to inform me that my bike is ready and that due to the time it took, they would not charge me for the repair or the parts! Sincere apologies were given for the time it took. DO NOT BUY A BIKE FROM DICKS!!! Bikes from here are made with the cheapest tires on the market along with the worst chain/gear system. People working in the biking department here are absolutely treacherous. A repair as simple as a tire change takes weeks and are horrible with communication. So disappointed in Dick's. My son got a SKLZ baseball toss machine as gift that is crap that they charge $80 for. My son wanted to exchange it for other baseball supplies he'd actually use but wr didn't have receipt. I fully understand without receipt they'd offer "lowest sale price" which they told him was $20. I really need to know when they sell goods at 75% off so I can shop more because this is $79.99 on their shelf now. Even their customer service rep laughed when I called and said "we'd lose money of it was sold at $20." I went to Dicks to buy a box of golf balls. There was a sign attached to the shelf that advertised personalizing golf balls, what a nice gift that would be. I saw a salesperson at the counter assisting a customer with a bike. He ignored me while he was adding pages to a binder. When he asked if I needed help, I asked him about personalization and the length of time it would take. He informed me he would have to ask his associate. I said ok and waited. He looked at me again and said do you need something else? He spoke to his associate and explained that they place the order and the company ships them out. I asked him how long that would take. His response was I've only been working here a month. That was so rude and unhelpful. If you need golf equipment of any kind, go to this store and ask for Bob Clentimack. He will give you honest, straightforward advice and help. I went in determined to buy new clubs. Bob spent an hour with me on the swing analyzer. He could have blown me a bunch of smoke and sold me anything. But after working with him for an hour, he concluded that there was no reason for me to spend several hundred dollars on new clubs that would not have made a meaningful difference in my game. I have had several bad experiences with this store. This is second time they didn't take security clip off shoe and funny the alarm never went off either. Scott the cashier was rude I asked for a gift box his answer " you should've done your shopping earlier" we ran out of boxes. How does a store this size run out of boxes. He was more than happy to check shoe sizes in the back and when they did not have the right size he even offered to get them online for me. Terrible service! My Wife came in to purchase an exercise band and when she walked in they purposely set off the alarm at the door. My wife ignored it and walked into the store and grabbed the exercise band that she was looking for. She went up to the register and the same employee that set off the alarm was handling the register. She walked away and started emptying all of the garbage cans from the different registers. She looked right at my wife, and never came back to help her at the register. The light was on, and that was the only register open. 3 other employees approached the woman, and none of them came to help my wife. My wife was there with our son, so she decided after waiting 5 minutes without any assistance that she was going to leave. We shop at dicks all the time, and spend a lot of money. I definitely will not be coming back to this location, and I don't recommend others especially people of color to come either. Hopefully their management team will do something to address this issue. read more

I went in to buy a shot gun and had some questions about ammo and the guy named Chris tall with tattoos was so rude he was talking to me like I was stupid and didn't know anything about shotguns. The next day I went in to go buy the shotgun I wanted and the same guy Chris was there, he told me he doesn't want to sell me a shotgun because I was asking him about some kind of ammo called dragon breath, he then told me that he will not sell me a shotgun and didn't have to sell anything to anyone he didn't like or sell anything to anyone even if he didn't like the way they look, I was upset and asked why and he then told me to get the Fu out of his ''store'' I couldn't believe my ears.
