Good food and very inexpensive. Service takes a little while so this is not really quick stop. Good option not too far off the road with little else around. Very solid diner food including an amazing breakfast special for super cheep! Pancakes were amazing! Coffee was a little weak. Perfect spot for breakfast or lunch! We were driving from DC to a VA state park and had already pulled off the highway once and couldn't find anywhere decent to eat. Found this place and it was AH-mazing! Was going to just have breakfast, but was talked in to the lunch special--crab cake sandwich & fries--which were spectacular. Everything we ordered was fresh, hot, delicious and HUGE. And everyone who worked there was super fun and friendly. The next time I'm driving that way, this is definitely the place to stop. I decided to check out this little spot for breakfast, and boy was I pleasantly surprised! I ordered scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, wheat toast, home fries and coffee. First, let me say that the portions are amazing. I couldn't even finish it all. Secondly, the food was out of this world! I haven't had breakfast like that since my Nanna was alive. The staff was very attentive and kept a very pleasant attitude throughout my visit. What I am finding is that the best places to eat in this particular area are not the places that are brand new and fancy. No, it's the little down home diner types that are really the best. Wife and I stopped here today while out riding on the MC. She ordered the French Toast with two eggs and NO meat. She stated it twice and the lady repeated it back. Guess what showed up, smaller portion of FT and bacon AND sausage. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but the bacon and sausage here is anything but good. I ordered the pecan Waffle with bacon. Asked for the bacon to be crispy. It wasn't. It was limp and extremely greasy. I'm hesitant to send food back as the idea of it being adulterated always crosses my mind. Stopped here on a whim on the way to WV. Really wish we hadn't. The food was really bad. The meatloaf was not edible. The fried chicken was decent, but I believe it was the frozen, microwavable type. We stopped here on our way back to Pittsburgh from Carolina Beach. Both the food and the service were excellent. When we got home, we found out that our four year old daughter left her beloved "Monk Monk" at the diner. This is not just some stuffed animal. It's her best friend. The two are inseparable. The owner and the staff were kind enough to mail Monk Monk back to us. We're so grateful for what they've done and plan to stop there anytime we're heading south. Thank you so much!! I just want to say that this place rocks. We met friends there for dinner and was just overwhlemed by the selections and the variety. Our waitress was very kind, efficient and helpful. The blackened catfish is not to be missed and the veggies--(nothing out of a frozen box) were excellent green beans, onions, and mushrooms. Yumm. Excellent french onion soup. Another diner had the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy and he thought it was the best he had ever had. Fresh salads, and the only downfall was the desserts. Huge selection of pies but they were not homemade. That was OK though the chocolate pie was fine and the apple was not bad either. This is a little divey , hometown , restaurant but the breakfast foods were really good. My husband really liked his steak omelette . It was Chopped steak (like minute steaks )with peppers and onions --delicious. Really good portions. My eggs are done perfectly and came with a short stack of fluffy, perfect, pancakes. This place really hit the spot after spending the weekend backpacking in Shenandoah! Eating dehydrated food for every meal for two days can get old fast. I had seen a sign for Marshall Diner on the drive up I-66 and it was in the back of my mind all weekend. We stopped in and it was crowded so we parked in the back. I ordered the Eggs Marshall (like eggs benedict but with smoked salmon instead of ham). My husband ordered a large breakfast platter with all the fixins and loved it. The food was good, service was fast and friendly, and the price was right. We just might have to make stopping here on the way home from the mountains a new tradition! read more

Stopped here on the way from DC to Luray in time for late breakfast. Everything we ordered came out as or better than expected. Not the fanciest joint but I didn't expect it to be. Bathroom was very clean even smelling like it was recently cleaned. Hubby loved his steak omelet and my corned beef hash with over medium eggs was perfectly prepared. What a find. Place is very clean, including the bathrooms. Had the open faced turkey sandwich special, real roast turkey, great gravy. Wife had omelette, lots of bacon, very good. This restaurant is a good place to stop. Note: three stars from me means that this is a good, solid, uncomplicated restaurant with good food and nothing fancy or precious about the place. The Marshall Diner is not too far off of I-66, and it is especially good for breakfast. If you are on your way to or from one of the local vineyards, it would be a good breakfast spot on the way or a good place for lunch on the way home. read more

This restaurant is one of my favorites. It is about thirty miles from where I live, but I gladly make an excuse to go there. The staff is always friendly, the food is always good. The place is not a fancy pretentious country restaurant. It is an honest to goodness diner that serves good fresh meals. The owner does not serve any pork products so the bacon and sausage is made from beef. It is absolutely delicious. The prices are extremely reasonable. I am a motorcyclist, and the Marshall Diner is a great place to meet up with friends for breakfast before we head out. This place is so much more enjoyable than the bland national chains. read more

Place was highly recommended by a client of ours,but my fiancé's food fell way short of expectations. The restaurant was clean, our waitress was great, but the food came out cold. Also, the bacon is actually beef bacon, not pork, so expect the taste and texture to be a bit different than what you're expecting.
