Stopped by at Foster's Grille in Marshall, as we were in the area. Apparently this is only one of few locations in Northern Virginia area. Liked the interior decor and style. Old school retro, with arcade and a car up on display indoors, gave off the Archie's vibes. I had the Hot Bacon Blue, with a vanilla milkshake. It was decent. Table had onion rings and fries on side, banana shake, another burger, and the Philly Cheese-chicken. I will say, the server people delayed our order. Also they marked fried as to-go order and forgot our onion rings and had to be reminded. All in all, this was good bang for the buck at least, and food was decent and somewhat good. Hopefully I'll visit another Fosters Grille in the future.

Supposedly the best burger spot in West Virginia! So had to check it out for myself. That title is appropriately given!!! Maybe the top burger I've had in my life. Perfectly cooked and seasoned and the fries that come with it are incredible!! I wish I lived closer to this place. I'd come here weekly! The service is top notch down home friendly! And the place has the coolest vibe! Check out my photos! If you're close to here do yourself a favor and try it out! You're welcome!

Mmmmm bottom of cup... still a Frosty....

Ordered bacon Cheese burger. Choc shake. Onion rings... friend got the same with exceptio. Of a coke instead of the shake. So....... Both burgers ordered Well. We got rare.. Coke machine was flat. No CO2. The chic shake was a wendys frosty Wait till you see the pics of the onion rings. Final score. Eating here could get you killed. With E.coli. all management should be canned. And the place should be closed for inspection. Please see pictures Old Salem cafe next door is a better bet.. or the marshall diner down the road.... This place is not worth it

This was a great small find! Easy and quick access from the highway, and they were open until 9pm. The food was really good and the service was excellent. 10-12 Beers on tap and milkshakes and a couple arcade games. Overall I think we'll definitely stop back in on our next time through here.

Good spot for lunch if you're in the area. Also a great spot for outdoor dining (patio on the side) if the weather is nice. The service is slow, but the staff is very nice so that makes it much easier to deal with. There's also an ATM here, just in case you need one.

From the moment we sat down, I was handed a personalized menu noting my birthday -- and truly, details matter. We started with a few apps, delicious cocktails, and of course, their wine program is out of this world, really showcasing the beauty of Virginia wine. You can't go wrong here. The smash burger was a hit, and I especially loved the asparagus and gazpacho. It felt like a little adventure around the farm, with a serious slam dunk on comfort food. Best part: they didn't flinch when I mentioned my allergies. They went out of their way to curate dishes for me, even off-menu, which I appreciated so much. Anytime you're in wine country or just desperate to escape the concrete jungle for a meal this is your place.

The service was superb, attentive and knowledgeable. We started with cocktails which thankfully were not overly sweet. The starters were excellent - tomato & peach salad, fried corn ribs, and loaded crispy potatoes were especially good. For dinner we had the lamb meatballs, bison steak and Cobia. The Cobia was a little overdone and dry, as were the lamb meatballs, but the tomato curry sauce on the pasta was superb. It paired well with a nice Italian Barolo. The deserts were very tasty - a seasonal berry sundae and a deep dish brownie. Overall we loved the service and the fresh local ingredients. But the entrees didn't live up to our expectations after the starters. Next time we'll try the tasting menu, as I suspect that part of the menu is getting more love and attention from the chef

Tables are reserved for 2.5 hours, so I assume the party before us didn't use their full time. We ordered an appetizer and a bottle of wine. The brie cake was delicious--even for someone who doesn't usually like goat cheese (it was layered in)--but unfortunately, no one in our group enjoyed the cheesecake. The winery is both dog- and kid-friendly. All the parents we encountered kept their children supervised, which is a winery rule and one I really appreciate now that we have kids ourselves. Most of the dogs were also very well behaved, though one was repeatedly growling at passing dogs, which was off-putting. While the winery can't control every patron, we choose to leave our dog at home when she's not in a social mood, and it would be nice if all dog owners did the same.

We chose Barrel Oak Winery to celebrate my 50th birthday because of the positive experiences we'd had there before. We traveled across the country to gather family and friends, trusting the venue to host a fun and relaxed evening. Unfortunately, on a 105-degree July day with intense humidity, the Overlook event space had no functioning air conditioning. While no one can control the weather, the conditions inside the venue--and the response to them--were the responsibility of the venue. The staff on site were gracious and did what they could, and we made the best of the evening under the circumstances. But after nearly three hours in extreme heat--and after nearly half our guests had already left--we were ready to call the evening a loss, when we were moved into the Tasting Room. By then, the celebration we had planned had already been materially compromised. What was most disappointing, however, was the lack of proactive management of the situation or thoughtful response afterward. Rather than acknowledging the significance of what occurred, I was left with the impression that it was viewed as an inconvenience rather than the significant disruption it was. If you're considering Barrel Oak for a wedding, milestone celebration, or any event you wish to enjoy, I hope you'll ask the questions we thought were too basic to ask. And if something isn't right, don't be afraid to insist on a solution in real time. We trusted the venue to do that for us, and by the time it happened, it was too late.

They weren't very busy when we got there, maybe about 4 tables sat. The menu looked quite nice, plenty of appetizing dishes to try. Service throughout was the issue though. We read reviews prior to coming here about the service being an issue, but we decided to give them a try anyway and we can say, the reviews are legit, they definitely need to work on service here!!! But the food was pretty darn good! Here are the positives - The food we tasted was pretty darn good! Their biscuit basket was nice, but the apple butter and the herbed butter in it were both amazing! Those biscuits were so darn good we saved one for dessert to enjoy with their apple butter. Their Grand Dad's Pastrami Sandwich was incredible! The pretzel bun was so soft and flavorful... then mixed with the mustard and their excellent corned beef and those perfectly caramelized onions and cheese - it made one heck of a great sandwich! The chips that came with the sandwich were on the dry/basic side, so they weren't worth the calories. The cole slaw was just 'ok' too. But the sandwich made up for those. Their tomato soup was made very nicely... definitely worth trying! Overall... there are so many options, so why come back? 2Kyles is right next to this place and they have been consistently very good, as we've been there a few times. Sorry, but until they fix their issues with delayed service, the kitchen lacking in food prep (we overheard the chef telling them many times about how to properly prepare dishes), and front of house - I doubt we'll return.
