Went here twice so far and each experience was great! VERY VERY PRICEY, but everything was delicious. They offer FREE VALET, but they DO NOT VALIDATE GARAGE PARKING. They also have happy hour, which is always a plus for us but they only offer the happy hour menu (sunday - friday/ 3p-6p) in the bar or patio area! the last time we made reservations was right at 5:30p (in between their happy hour); we came 30 minutes early and staff was very accommodating and let us snag a few drinks and snacks at happy hour price in their bar area before we sat down for our meal. They are kid friendly (we had toddlers and a baby in our reservation) and had a high chair available.
From their happy hour menu, we were able to enjoy and get a nice buzz with some prosecco (so sweet and tasty) and peroni beer. We were satisfied with all the happy hour snacks we ordered; dozen oysters on the half shell, tuscan fried chicken, polpette, and their Charcuterie & Cheese.
The oysters were soo delicious and tasted fresh! It had their calabrian chili mignonette on top and if you squeeze the lemon on top; mmmm, chef's kiss!
Polpette was pretty good, but it tasted just like any other meatball in tomato sauce.
Tuscan fried chicken was a kid and adult favorite. The sauce it came with kind of reminded me of spicy mayo, but it paired great with the fried chicken and fried artichoke! we probably had about 4 happy hour orders and went back to our table and ordered another round for the kids.
We were happy with the charcuterie and cheese board, but it felt like it was just any other charcuterie and cheese board.
There was 12 in our party so we were able to order and try a variety of dishes.
Calamari- just so you know, its NOT deep fried. I think it was grilled or baked, but either way it was really good. the golden raisins in the dish was a nice, sweet touch and helped balance the flavors very well. Be cautious** for those with nut allergies, it does come with pine nuts **
Rigatoni Alla Vodka- pretty good! I enjoyed their creamy vodka sauce, the pasta was cooked al dente.
Squid Ink Campanelle- I've had this dish the first time I was here but our waiter recommended it to us again, saying it was one of their well known dishes. I'm not usually a fan of uni (as nigiri/sushi), but the uni sauce it came in was so delicious. I just wish they offered more lumps of crab meat in the dish. I'm so glad we had it again the second time around, it's so pricey but its worth a try!
New york strip- It was offered as 14 oz, and we ordered it medium rare. Shared between my sister and I, it was more than enough for the two of us. The steak was so delicious, cooked perfectly and had so much flavor! It also tasted great dipped in their PORCINI BONE MARROW SAUCE.
Porterhouse- It was offered as 42 oz, and we also ordered it medium rare. 4 big dudes from our party shared (and other dishes), and they still had left overs! The porterhouse was also cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor! They also ordered the PORCINI BONE MARROW SAUCE to go with it. If y'all ever come to marmo and get steak, GET THE PORCINI BONE MARROW SAUCE. It's the perfect blend of mushroom-salty-ness! so delicious when its drenched over steak!
Smoked Ricotta Gnocchi- My dad had this dish and said it was okay; good but not something he ordered again. Unfortunately I didn't get to taste this dish, so I'll have to take his word on it.
Texas Redfish- The fish was just a tad bit over cooked. The sauce (tomato/pesto based) that came under the fish probably saved the dish for me because it was good and full of flavor.
Roasted fingerling potatoes- We had ordered this for the kids, but we'll probably pass on this dish next time. Nothing great about it, just tasted just like thick cut potato wedges.
Prime Beef Tartare- I'm not really a fan of beef tartare, but my sister ordered it and we enjoyed it! It was really delicious, full of flavor and the little cheese crisps that came on were so good!
At our table I had their Sprezzatura and Painted Flower from their cocktail menu. Both were so delicious! They didn't taste too strong, were just a TAD bit sweet but still got my buzz from happy hour going!
It was our parents birthdays so they were nice enough to bring flourless chocolate cake. So chocolately and sweet! I wish I had snapped a picture of it.
Overall, our bill was not pretty and very pricey, BUT everyone enjoyed the experience and their delicious food! I would definitely come back for the steaks, calamari and cocktail menu! And you can always stop by next door at VL's to get ice cream after, hehehe . read more
