The good: as someone with a gluten sensitivity I was excited to learn that they make their own GF pasta daily. I ordered the GF pasta alla vodka. The panna cotta was not too sweet and had great flavor. It could have been a bit more firm. Not so good: Service was inconsistent and pretty much not present after our entrees were served. We spent too much time looking around for assistance when needed. Meatballs were SUPER SALTY! We did bring this to the attention of our waiter. The restaurant has a nice happy hour with live music. Their staff was very friendly in making sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. Our group decided to order multiple dishes and share amongst us to try as much as possible. To start, we had the meatballs an calamari appetizer; meatballs were the favorite of the table as we were expecting a crispy calamari vs the stewed version served (texture just wasn't for us). For mains we shared the eggplant parmesan, cowboy ribeye, rigatoni alla vodka, and the special offering of lobster pasta with cream sauce. For me, it was hard to pick a favorite in this course - all were excellent. To end on a sweet note we ordered the tiramisu, which had the perfect blend of coffee flavor to airy texture. We made reservations for a Friday evening for a girl's night out. If you're not ubering I would definitely plan some extra time for parking. The parking garage attached was completely full and so we had to look around for street parking. The valet line was also extremely long. The restaurant itself is very cute and aesthetic, they had a live performer which is always a plus. We started off with the unlimited fresh bread with butter. For our meal we had the Roasted Carrot salad (3.5/5): the truffle ricotta was nice Tuscan Fried Chicken (4/5): very juicy and flavorful Rigatoni Alla Vodka (3.5/5): Simple and straightforward Squid Ink Campanelle (3.5/5): I expected a little more out of the uni sauce but they definitely give you a good serving of crab We also ordered a variety of cocktails but none of them really stood out to us, especially at the $16-20 price point. We came for happy hour which is Sun-Fri from 3-6pm and you must be seated at the bar tops near the bar or at their outside patio. As you walk through their doors, we were immediately greeted with live piano performance. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the music as we were seated outside. East coast oysters were $2 each, fresh and clean! Happy hour portions are small plates, probably shareable for two people, we had 6 people and we ordered 2 of each item on their HH menu but really regretted that as our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! My favorite was the Rigatoni alla vodka pasta and their Squid Ink Campanelle (not on their HH menu). All the items on the HH menu are $7 except for their charcuterie board. The Polpette (classic meatballs) was solid but a tad bit salty for my palate. No prefix cocktails included in HH but Drinks(wells) were $8 and really strong, they didn't skimp on the alcohol. They do offer beer and wine as well. Valet is complimentary and in front of the restaurant. The guy who oversaw the valet was really nice, he offered ice cold water as we were waiting for our car. A great place for happy hour with friends and/or dinner date. Would highly recommend to make a reservation, not sure if they offer reservation for HH though (call to confirm). read more

It's carpaccio with the deconstructed gazpacho on top of it. those yellow things aren't egg yolks, which I thought at first they're part of the gazpacho mixture with dried cucumbers, black caviar, a little bit of cream, all deconstructed on top and then I had the blue crab bruschetta as my entrée, and that was wonderful. As someone who is not an Italian or fancy-dinner person, this place exceeded my expectations! We went for a birthday with a large group of 9 people with a reservation on a Saturday night at 8:30pm, and it was perfect for a classy yet lively get-together. As other reviews mentioned, it was always busy, but it doesn't feel overcrowded due to how the restaurant is sectioned. Drinks: I would say the cocktails were okay, nothing extraordinary as we tried the sprezzatura, one with a cantaloupe slice (not sure the name), and a long island, but I'm not too mad bc it fit the vibe lol. Appetizers: - Calamari was so pleasant, it is sauteed not fried and had delicious golden raisins, capers, olives, and pine nuts to balance it all out with sweet, briney, tart, and nutty. Nicely done! - Meatballs were alright, could do without. Pastas: they have half and full sizes; I think half size is good for the average person. - Squid ink campanelle was soooo creamy from the uni, served with a generous amount of blue crab. Pricy ($28 for a half), but I can see why. - Wild boar lasagna was some of the best lasagna I ever had. Smoky, cheesy, tender, intense rich flavor from the boar. - Lobster fra diavolo was a flop to me, overpriced at $33 for a half serving and was not cohesive. The spicy tomato sauce truly was spicy from I believe dried red pepper flakes and overpowered the lobster. - Rigatoni alla vodka was good, deep nutty flavor from the parmigiano, didn't mind it. Desserts: We ordered almost every dessert (tiramisu, panna cota, lemon olive oil cake; they did not have the bomboloni), and tbh I would pass. The tiramisu was the only one that really stood out with the strong coffee and not too sweet. The rest were not that good. This place has some hits and misses on the menu but overall I really enjoyed the ambiance and the service was great even with our large group. It did take awhile for everyone to order and our food to come out, but it's expected for a larger group, and they did not make us feel rushed at all. We were sat at 8:30pm and left at closing. All the food was super yummy. Hamachi as a starter was perfect. The passion fruit ponzu was sweet but slightly sour. The fish, avocado, and ponzu came together harmoniously. The raw oysters were very fresh. Had to eat them with chili! For entrées, temperatures of the meat were perfect. Both steak dishes were seasoned perfectly. Meats were so tender. Yummy. The spaghetti was al dente, and the sauce was so good. The lobster fra diavolo was perfect. Lobster was cooked well. Everything in the dish was good. The Tuscan chicken was fried perfectly. I wish the bread on the bruschetta was crispier, but the crab was excellent. The burrata was the stand out for me. The redfish was nice (full fish with the head FYI) with a delicious red sauce. A couple of my friends had an early birthday dinner at Marmo in Montrose. This is an upscale area in a really nice area in Westheimer, it's right next to uchi. They have a lot of neat photo opportunities outside. The inside has ambient lighting and looks very nice and fancy. We got seated next to their wine wall. Our server was very attentive and helpful when it came to questions about the menu. They give out complimentary bread with butter and cheese crumbles to start. I got their most popular dish, the squid ink campanelle. It includes fresh blue crab, uni cream sauce, chili, basil, and bread crumbs. I got the piccolo size which is their individual portion, which is actually really big for an Italian restaurant. You can also get a grande size which is meant for 2 people. When I took my first bite I thought it was just a normal piece of pasta that wasn't anything special. But as I ate more of the pasta, especially the ones covered in the uni cream sauce, it was soo soo good. So make sure you mix your pasta to get that sauce on all your pasta before you eat it. They put in big chunks of blue crab as well. The uni cream sauce adds a rich and creamy texture with a little sweetness and umami. The ambiance was wonderful in my opinion. Some reviews said that they were over crowded but I didn't feel that way from where we were seated. The people were very stylish and the service was great. I must agree with one reviewer that the menu was incredibly large and clumsy to view. I absolutely love Italian cuisine but I understand that there are regional preferences in terms of ingredients and preparation. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana which is normally a favorite of mine. Perhaps my palate is not as refined as some of the reviewers but I felt underwhelmed by the flavors of the red sauce and the eggplant and had to add salt to enhance the flavor. I wasn't offered any fresh Parmesan cheese and had to ask my waiter for some. I'll also add that the "bread server" came around and offered us each one small square piece of bread and a couple of scraps of cheese. The bread was rubbery but the cheese was really tasty. My original menu request was for the red fish. I love fish but hate cooking it so I often order fish when dining out. I couldn't eat the fish because it was so burnt that all I could taste was the charred skin. The inside of the fish had little flavor at all. I had to send this fish back. My son enjoyed his squid ink pasta dish but he wasn't blown away enough to want to return. Our drinks were lovely and our server was polite, pleasant and accommodating. The ambience is great. Dim lighting inside accompanied by live music was definitely a vibe. To start off we ordered some cocktails. I ordered the Painted Flower cocktail. It was a very pretty drink but also boozy which I loved. They had a guy passing around bread + butter + parmesan cheese. The bread was awesome but the butter is really what stood out to me. Not sure what makes it special but once you taste it you'll know what I'm talking about! For my entrée I ordered the squid ink campanelle and a side of brussels sprouts. Both were amazing! The squid ink pasta comes with pieces of fresh blue crab which tasted fresh and flavorful. The maple glaze and apple pieces on the brussels gave it this sweet taste which made for a perfect sweet and salty combo on the dish. I am not much of a dessert gal so we skipped that. Service was 7/10. Our server was friendly and helpful when we were ordering and all of our dishes came out correctly and promptly. However, after we ordered, we did not see our waiter for about 40-50 minutes. He probably could have gotten 2 more cocktails out of us during that time but because of his absence it was difficult to get refills. I found this place on TikTok because of their fantastic happy hour menu and knew I had to try it out! I came with my 2 siblings on a Tuesday at 5 pm and had the choice to sit at the high tables/bar inside or out on the patio. It was a gorgeous day outside so we opted for the patio. Our waiter was Ace and he was super friendly and attentive. We started out with the Tuscan fried chicken and the butternut squash bruschetta. The chicken was super delicious, especially dipped in the garlic aioli it comes with. I like how it came with artichokes too, which were cooked perfectly. The bruschetta wasn't my favorite to be honest. I didn't love the flavors of it all together and the bread just wasn't as crunchy. I recommend skipping the Caesar salad. I'm normally a huge fan of a Caesar salad and will get it at any Italian restaurant, but this one was not good at all. I'm glad I got the happy hour one instead of the full price salad. The rigatoni was the star of the show for us! It was the perfect sauce that was slightly tangy and the Parmesan cheese on top was perfect. I would come back again just for the chicken and pasta. I happen to stop by here with my sister on an impromptu night out. We were in the area and decided to stop in. I will say, the hostess at the front was phenomenal. We didn't have reservations since we didn't really have our night planned, but the hostess was sweet enough to squeeze us in, even with a baby in a stroller! The servers were really good, and they even had a bread and cheese server come around! I do wish she came around more often to our table though - she only came once, but it was still delicious. Of course, we had to try their pastas and got the squid ink pasta, the gnocchi, and the burrata salad as a starter. All of them were so good! The burrata salad was nice and light with a nice mix of creaminess from the burrata and a crunch from the fixings. The pastas were cooked to perfection and had great flavor. I would highly recommend the pastas and would love to try their other pastas there. Parking was available in the garage, but we opted to valet. I've been to Marmo before for happy hour and liked it, but I was not impressed a bit when I came for my birthday. When arriving, they told me that they would charge $4 per person to eat the external desert. I mentioned it was my birthday when I was booking, so that would have been nice to know. They charged a 3% facility fee on the bill. For 9 people so that adds up. Who already had an automatic tip added. When we asked about it they said part of it was for the valet. We didn't use the valet. But ok. They had two sizes for the pasta and I ordered the small one and it ended up being just a small appetizer size with no protein and it was still 19 dollars and I wasn't full at all :(. Overall, I feel like they kept nickel and dimeing us for everything they could, and I felt bad for taking my family there. read more
