We get this place catered to work pretty often but this was my first time being in the actual restaurant. When I walked in, the floors were so slippery and I thought I was going to fall. We were seated pretty right when we arrived and the staff was very attentive to our table. Overall, the service was really good and we had a good time. They were even kind enough to separate our checks exactly how we wanted even though it was a little complicated. Food and drinks: I loved the chicken panini every time it came to my work which is why I ordered it again. It was even better in the actual restaurant. This is my favorite sandwich of all time. Our family had a terrible experience after having a meal on this restaurant. This is because some of the dishes were undercooked. We ordered fish taco, chicken panini and tavern burger. Burger was ok, but I expected that ordering burger could not go wrong. My wife ordered fish taco and my son ordered chicken panini. My wife was suspected that the fish was undercooked. My son did not comment anything until we got back home and he threw up and had diarrhea as well as my wife did. I had a little stomachache. One thing to mention is that we all were fine before visiting the restaurant and we did not have any other food since visiting the restaurant. Marlow's is a nice Tavern. Service was good and the drinks are well served and the beer was nice and cold when available. My first choice from the menu wan not available. I stopped by for a quick bite. Went with simple fair. The bacon jam burger and something interesting. Fried okra. First the okra, it was very well cooked and the chef was daft with the seasoning right to the edge with salt. The okra was worth the trip. The burger on the other hand... on first appearance seemed to be on the small side. I am sure it was not, it is one of those thick small diameter version burgers. It was cooked as I ordered, however it was a bit light on seasoning. The toppings of tomato, lettuce and onions were good. The onions were of the very thinly sliced version. The reason for my review however is the bacon jam. Perhaps I am being just picky, however when I have the promise of bacon jam, the predominant flavor I am expecting is bacon. Instead it was more like a mild ketchup. I would have been ok with the promise of homemade ketchup as I do enjoy tomato based sauces. Bacon jam as I have experienced and made in the past is first and foremost flavored predominant of bacon! Then most folks also use sautéed onions, an acid like vinegar and some sweetener like brown sugar, honey, maple syrup. While the experience overall not a bad one, my hopes were up with the promise of bacon. Like I said the flavors were good just the expectations were set and not delivered. Look this is probably one of my favorite franchises that I didn't even know was a franchise! I tried Marlow's Tavern in Orlando and fell in love with the wings and their dipping sauce as well as with their crab and shrimp nachos!!!! To die for!! I just so happened to get on yelp looking for a place to eat while I was in Atlanta and this place popped up! I thought maybe the quality wouldn't be the same but I was wrong the food was just as delicious!! This time I also tried the fish tacos as well. Everything was pretty perfect as far as food up until I was about to leave. My server Brittney was amazing during my patio service. I was in the middle of watching the football game when out of nowhere some other chick came & abruptly turned the tv off then proceeded to walk away. Not once looked me in the eye. She could have simply said the patio is closing , but to make matters worse there were other people still sitting outside with me. Totally Ignored me as I said something to her to gain her attention. That alone makes me not want to go back. Now again, my server Brittney was amazing. It was definitely reflected on the 30% tip that was left. Marlow's Tavern was our lunchtime destination after a fun Disney on Ice show at the nearby Infinite Energy Center. We were seated on the porch which worked out well as the weather was absolutely beautiful. Service was friendly, and check-ins and food delivery was accurate and prompt. Everything that you want and need when dining out with a three year old! For my daughter, I ordered The Cheesiest Mac and Cheese. She's not into the super gooey, baked macaroni and cheeses, so this dish was perfect for her. The sauce was very yummy, and the dish was as simple as a cheesy sauce topping bowtie pasta noodles. It was the perfect dish for the kid that loves the microwavable cups at home. For myself, I selected the Classic Caesar topped with Salmon. To be honest, the name is terrible -- there is nothing "classic" about this Caesar salad. The "crumbled focaccia croutons" were indeed crumbly, rather more of a dust, and the oven roasted tomatoes added an unexpected sweetness. The salmon was well cooked and a nice size filet on a bed of lettuce. The salad was definitely out of the ordinary but tasty. I added some Asparagus Fries to try something new, and they were also very good. They had a tempura style batter and an accompanying citrus aioli. Overall, I had a lovely meal and was reminded yet again how much I enjoy dining at Marlow's! read more

I liked this joint. I was in the area for work, and I wanted to find some place close to the hotel to watch the Monday Night Football game. The hotel suggested this place, and I'm glad they did. The server was the best part of the visit, which isn't to say that as a bad thing. Steven introduced himself, remembered MY name, and was very quick to check up on me. He wasn't annoying about it, but he was sure to keep tabs on my beverage, my meal, and my overall experience. Attentive is too boring a word; friendly is more accurate. The staff overall was pretty great, actually. I had interactions with a couple of the managers as well, and they seem to really enjoy what they do. Always a good sign! The food was... good... but not their strongest suit. I could tell effort and energy went into it, though. I think the problem was simply cohesion (and a lack of just a pinch of salt). For instance... - The Reuben egg rolls were great, very inspired (had them before elsewhere, but not something you see often), but lacking a binding element. The cheese was non-existent, but the sauce had a nice salty punch. Without it, though, they were borderline bland. Still a good app, just not quite as eye-opening as I'd thought they'd be. - I went with the Chicken Frisco Club for my entree, and it was better than the starter, but still shy of a complete package. I'm not sure what it was, the sauce, the apples, or the lack of enough (or well spaced out) bacon, but each bite had a different character. Together, once all the components were in the same bite, it was a great effect. But both the grilling (char doesn't do it for me) and the overall spacing of the sandwich did it no favors. Still, it was tasty, and I would probably order it again. I would rearrange it myself before eating it, though. - The fries were good, very hot when they came out, but tons of tiny pieces. Most were under 1.5 inches in length. Still, all those issues aside, this was a great experience. I got to watch the game, hang out with a great team working there, and enjoyed some tasty beverages at the same time. We then order dinner, a cheeseburger for me with fries and my friend ordered the shrimp and grits. My burger was so good, perfectly seasoned and cooked. Marlow's is the best thing in a LARGE radius around the Sugarloaf area. The dark & trendy atmosphere + a menu that looks like some actual thought was put into it makes it a real standout in Duluth. I really like their lunch menu, particularly the fish tacos. They taste fresh and delicious and don't weigh you down for hours afterward. I usually get with a side of a few huge stalks of asparagus that are lightly seasoned. I went recently for happy hour. They have 3 cocktails and 2 wines all for $5 a glass - which I don't think is that stellar of a happy hour. I would love to see some beers on the HH menu as well. My berry cooler was OK but lacked any real (non juice/syrup) flavor and really took me back to my college days. I promptly switched to beer and was pleased to discover they offer local taps outside of what is listed on their menu, including my local favorite Wild Heaven- try the Ode to Mercy! Most of the apps on their menu weren't super happy hour friendly, in terms of price nor sharing ability. We had the truffle fries and while they were okay to snack on, it felt like wasted calories. I wouldn't order again. Marlow's is crazy popular. For lunch, if you're not there before 11:55pm you're out of luck for a quick bite. For happy hour and dinner, you should be prepared to wait, even if it's a short period of time. The space they have is very small and fills up quickly. They have limited options for handling groups over 4 which include: sitting you on the patio, squeezing you into their only large booth, or shoving some bar tables together. That being said - come with a buddy or two but no more than that. Even their bar can be tough to get a seat at, and all the chairs seem cramped together. The service is extremely hit or miss which - along with the potential of a wait - is why I don't come here more often. They don't have enough space to have a host stand, nor do they generally have a dedicate host that I can tell, and when you walk in there is very little space between the door and the wall they consider the host stand. It's really awkward. I hate going to restaurants without someone to greet me immediately - what am I supposed to do? Just stand here? Seat myself? What if there is a line of people to talk to the host (not uncommon)? Just an unprofessional start. The servers can be hot and cold - the folks I've encountered recently have been fantastic, but I've also been subject to long waits between visits to the table, empty water glasses, etc. It's a great option in the area, but it doesn't check all of my boxes particularly for happy hour. This place is very modern and neat with a dark intimate dining room. It also has a patio area. The service was friendly and fast. The food also exceeded expectations! I got the Firecracker shrimp and a side of chickpea fries. Firecracker shrimp: fantastic! Shrimp is well coated and crispy. The sauce they toss it in is pretty spicy but not so that you can just devour the whole bowl. Chickpea fries: tasty and I think is a good "healthy-ish" alternative to regular fries. (I had a bite or a handful of the regular fries and DAMN they are good) Everyone at the table was satisfied and throughly enjoyed their food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We waited about 20 minutes for a booth inside. The food was good but I wasn't wowed. I take that back the grit cake is amazing. I also ordered truffles fries and firecracker shrimp.. My server was pleasant and understood we were grieving a relative. One minute we were eating and the next were all crying at the table. Bummer. I haven't been to this location in a bit. First impression is that the building has seen better days. It's gone beyond the point of well worn to dingy and a bit unkempt. Bulk bows that you buy to stick on present boxes are hanging off of light fixtures as Christmas decoration, which added to the overall "meh" feel. Every single table in the place was full, which added to my mixed bag of feelings where I thought "they should be able to afford to decorate for the holidays and keep up with renovations" and "there is zero social distancing or care about capacity seating in a pandemic"..... The service was awesome. Attentive and just all around lovely person. If there's one thing Marlow's gets right consistently, it's the service. Always stellar! As for the food, we order these items often and they just weren't up to par. We both still ate the Royale with cheese that each of us ordered (we were really hungry), but HOLYMOTHEROFGOD was it salty! I now lay bloated and uncomfortable, pondering how I will get up and do something with the rest of my day. The smoked trout dip and house made chips that come with it were rendered inedible due to the salt (unfortunate, because it's one of our favorite things to munch on). I came in on a Friday at 11:30 am. The service was great considering the lunch rush that hit pretty hard around noon. This was my second time here, and I really like tavern food so that's why I came back. I wanted to order the rustic grilled cheese (havarti, swiss, classic mornay, applewood smoked bacon, and chili slathered sour dough) and substitute warm chocolate cake (milk chocolate soaked chocolate cake, warm pecan & "Jack" syrup with hand scooped vanilla ice cream) for my side bar item while paying a couple extra bucks, but the manager said I couldn't do that. So I decided to go ahead and get chickpea fries for my side and share the dessert with my friend. I love grilled cheese, and I love cheese, but even this was a little too cheesy (good thing I'm not lactose intolerant) and heavy for me, though the flavor was great. The sour dough was flakey and crispy on the crust, but a little soggy/oily on the bottom. The chickpea fries alone are very unique, but definitely use the dip with them! They are a bit crumbly even after frying, so you might not want to dip the whole thing at once or it'll break off. The sandwich and chickpea fries together were very filling, so the dessert on top was a bit much for me. I was disappointed with the warm chocolate cake, it was hard on the outside and not even that warm or soft on the inside (I was expecting it to be like molten lava cake). The pecan glaze was delicious, but I wasn't crazy about the Jack syrup. I'll be back to try out more items on their menu that won't be so heavy and put me into food coma. read more

Not at all happy with the food, service was good. Had Sunday brunch. Lemon ritgota blueberry pancakes. First in my pancake there was a small black cylinder shape object. I removed it and the waitress took the plate back to kitchen. The plate was returned and waitress said " the chef removed it from your plate with gloves, it was a bread crumb that fell on your plate". There were 10 blueberries on the play, non in the pancakes. This is an update to my last review. Marlow's is our go to! We love the atmosphere (pub style, a bit loud), the friendly knowledgeable wait staff, the food and the drinks! Note: We learned the menu/recipes change seasonally. Most recognizably on this summer visit is the Firecracker Shrimp that is a regular favorite. The recipe has been changed. I personally do not like it at all. It's spicier, oily and too salty, gone is the sweeter sauce that pairs so perfectly with spice. So if you've loved this before ask to sample the new sauce first or get it on the side. Waitress shout out. Mary! You win Waitress of the Day award! Sorry, no prizes come with this. read more
