Crispy fried cauliflower, spicy salami pizza and bufala ricotta toast.
Sandy K.

My first time dining at Marlena to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a party of seven and had reservations for a weekday evening. It was a Tuesday and the restaurant was quite busy. We sat on the patio where the ambiance was idea since they have a motorized patio louver system that they can control the dining atmosphere. We started off with a bottle of chardonnay and ordered appetizers of crispy fried cauliflower, spicy salami pizza made in their wood fired oven and bufala ricotta toast. We followed with salad with anchovies and three different in pasta entrees, a 32 oz dry aged tomahawk and a 14 oz prime ribeye. The tomahawk included an arugula salad and fingering potatoes. We dined family style and everything was delicious. We ended with desserts of chocolate olive cake, burnt Basque cheesecake and vanilla soft serve gelato. Service was exceptional from the entire staff. I definitely recommend Marlena for your special event or for a wonderful dining experience.

Mushroom pizza

I had a pleasant experience here @Marlena. We ordered the Blue Oyster mushroom pizza (server's rec). Dang it! It was so good. I m actually craving it now lol we were surprised that it was so delicious. Definitely will get it again. We also ordered the branzino. It was ok. Not the best flavors. It was a bit oily as well. I say skip this item unless you're really wanting fish. The gem salad was great! Enjoyed every piece of it lol was just the right amount of cheese and dressing. Got a complex wine to pair with the foods. Everything was close to perfect. We wanted to order dessert, but we kept waiting for the server to return. By the time she got back to us...we didn't have the feel for dessert anymore lol The busser that helped us packed the left overs got me a little speechless. He dumped all the spoons, forks, and knife into the left over plate of foods..so dirty! That was the only reason why I took a star off.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Nice place for drinks and snacks. The hubby and I stopped in for some martinis, per a friend's recommendation. It was a midweek afternoon so not busy at all, and we grabbed two spots at the bar. It was a gorgeous open space, and I could imagine why it was so popular. We ordered the aforementioned martinis, which were quite good, and we also happened to be in time for happy hour, which we took advantage of. We ordered a couple of happy hour old fashioneds and also an order of their eggplant toast, which was scrumptious. We may come back at some point for a proper meal, but a bite and drink at the bar was perfectly nice.

Awesome food. Great service. Nice ambiance. The only negative was that it extremely hot in the outdoor seating area but not much that the restaurant could do about that. Dying to come back!!

I loved Marlena for dinner so much that I had to come back for brunch. I'm actually not a fan of brunch or breakfast foods in general, but I had a feeling that Marlena could change that. I got the biscuits and gravy, lemon ricotta pancakes, and breakfast pizza. The biscuits and gravy were SO GOOD, I just wish they gave me more! I might've been in a food coma all day though. The biscuits are very buttery, and the gravy is very thick, so it's a decadent and heavy breakfast for sure. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light, fluffy, and bright. I enjoyed them a lot compared to a classic pancake. The breakfast pizza was awesome. Charred pizza crust, topped with hollandaise, good bacon, and few leafy greens to make you feel better about yourself. I enjoyed everything with a fresh orange juice mimosa and thoroughly enjoyed my brunch by the bay.

When the weather is warm and you can sit tucked away in the corner, this is the spot. We ordered their salad with peaches, a corn and squash blossom pizza, finished sharing cheesecake. Their lemonana can be made with or without alcohol. Hit the spot. Service is consistent and friendly, with portions perfected and timing felt key. A must try spot for a special occasion.

Marlena might be one of the best spots you may have never heard of, it's such a sleeper! I've been spending more time around the Long Beach area recently and this spot as the best ranch I've ever tried (made in house with a few special ingredients). The pizzas here are phenomenal as well, and the service is very fast in front friendly. The ambiance is nice, and they have parking! (Not a huge lot though.) I highly recommend the red sauce pizzas, that's definitely where it's at. It might have one of the best margarita pizzas in LA! Also, our waitress was so funny and charming, bonus points on the service there, haha. Food: 4.5/5 Drinks: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Value: 4/5 Overall: 4.5/5

Such a cool neighborhood bar and restaurant in Naples, I feel like it's a hidden gem being out of sight from the road. It's a perfect date spot with immaculate vibes and a cool modern mediterranean aesthetic feel. I made a reservation here for a date night and a seperate Valentines brunch. First time I came here, we tried their Bolognese spaghetti and one of their caesar salad. The spaghetti was salty and the caesar was tasty, I should've added a protein on this. Overall a pretty good experience but not enough that we tried to get the full experience. For Brunch, Marlena goes absolutely crazy! We got their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, the blueberry compete was a good touch. The Rosti was amazing, the cilantro lebni sauce was so unique and enjoyed how it sat on a hashbrown. I would get this again forsure. Then to finish it off, I got the breakfast sandwich which was so flavorful, the laminated biscuit was soft and the bacon was like that thickly cut one that melts in your mouth. All of their breakfast items were great and the whole menu sounded delicious. When we asked our waiter what he recommends, he just read off the whole menu haha. We would pass on coming for dinner again though.

It's my birthday week and husband took me to Marlena for the first time. We got lucky on this weekday and was able to make last minute reservations. To begin, we were seated in a covered patio (with heater overhead for cooler evenings). I appreciate a menu that is not super overwhelming. We are pretty particular on what we order and everything on the menu was definitely to our liking. We started the evening with: Marlena Martini (gin) - dry vermouth, thyme liqueur, orange bitters, salt. Onion garnish. Maid in Spain - Gin, cucumber, manzanilla, celery bitters, saline, lemon, soda. Mint sprig garnish. For our meal: Salad to start - chicories and apples, goat cheese, spiced walnuts, cippolini onion vinaigrette. Loved every bite Entree - the 16 oz Pachamama pork chop, brown butter, apple, sage, potato pave. High quality, pasture-raised heritage. Happy pigs :) Brussels sprouts - tahini cashew yogurt, pomegranate molasses, mint, dill, baharat. Lovely. Bread - Bianco. Rosemary, black pepper, evoo. Perfect for scarpetta. Husband and I love to sweep all the sauces with some good bread. And this, it was. Warm, and puffy with a little slight crunch. Paired with Ultraviolet '22 Cabernet Sauvignon. For dessert: Basque cheesecake Fred Gerbis Amaro - digestif. Love the botanicals. Double espresso. Lovely evening, lovely food. Will visit again soon. Buen provecho!

Ever since my friend, Lynn told me about this place I've been craving it! I'm always on the hunt for good pizza places in Long Beach (let's get real, California doesn't usually shine in the pizza category) This place is an absolute pizza gem I came here on a Friday with Jay S. I made a reservation which was really easy and I highly recommend it, the place was packed. They also have private parking and street parking The whole atmosphere is great. I love the modern layout and it had great lighting. The place was extremely clean as well. We got seated immediately and everyone was extremely nice especially Elyse (who was our main waitress) and Joaquin who kept coming around bringing us our food and checking on us. 5 stars for them To be honest, I really was hoping they had more pasta options. But, their pizza options made up for it. I started off with ordering a cocktail recommended by Elyse -LIMONANA Egyptian-style creamy limeade and mint. You then get to pick which alcohol you want. I went with vodka, obviously. This was extremely dangerous! I could have had 10 of these. It was so refreshing. I haven't had a good cocktail like this in a while. They also recommend it as a mocktail. It tasted just like a Brazilian lemonade 10/10 And the Las Manzas- Tequila, manzanilla, lemon juice, apple syrup, soda and cinnamon Then it was pizza time! -Mozzarella, bianco tomato, basil, olive oil (this was pretty much a Margherita pizza) the pizza sauce on this was outstanding. It was so incredibly fresh, the seasoning and everything about it was literal perfection. Don't get me started on the crust! Then - Blue oyster mushrooms, porcini crean fontina, olives, marjoram Also, had to get ranch to dip the crust in. The ranch is homemade and you could tell it was homemade with dill but it also had this amazing unique warmth to it. Our waitress, Elyse told us it was a Moroccan blend of spices and it also had cinnamon in it (trust me, it works) perfect 10/10 And for dessert! I'm embarrassed to admit this was my first time trying -Basque cheesecake. Which, was delicious. Since it was my first time trying it, I can't say if it was the best or not. this is a great date night or out with your girlfriends type of spot I really want to try some of their other pizzas. They had so many amazing ones -They also have a happy hour -Brunch -Again, they take reservations and I highly recommend them on the weekend. The only time they could fit us in on a Friday was at 8:45 -they have Gluten free options for the pizzas -service was great! Elyse was amazing and helpful. I have heard service can be hit or miss. -bonus points for private parking lot -bathrooms were clean -really nice layout -this place can also be dressed up or dressed down -I will absolutely be returning

Tucked just off of 2nd Street in Naples, Marlena feels like an oasis with awesome food to match. I love the open-air patio seating, perfect for a late summer evening. I came for my first time on my birthday and it felt perfect! Chicories & Apple Salad [ ] a great balance of bitter and sweet, [ ] the goat cheese and dressing acts as a nice neutral buffer [ ] Very fresh Roasted Baby Yams [ ] Favorite dish, though I believe it's seasonal! [ ] Perfect for plant-forward eaters, the smokey seared skin of the yam gives it a hearty meat-like flavor [ ] Pistachio Pesto adds texture and zest I also tried a white fish as an entree (no longer on menu). The preparation was amazing with crispy skin, though the flavor profile wasn't my favorite (I should have went with my server's recommendation).

First time trying out their Happy Hour! We have been to many dinners and Brunches at Marlena and always impressed at the food, service, and cocktail program! Their Happy Hour includes some very creative cocktails and appetizers! Service was excellent! Matt was our server and bartender! He suggested great drinks and appetizers! When we finished up dinner was just starting up. We weren't hungry but wished we were to order off the main menu too! Only the Happy Hour Menu is available but if you are their into.the dinner start, the full menu is avaliable. I will say the Happy Hour Menu has plenty on it for options to fill you up and also enjoy a variety of bites! We ordered several appetizers served on Crostini. Marinated Olives and meatballs. We all had lunch just hours before. Next time definitely going hungry as I would love to try out their cheese & charcuterie board! For cocktails we tried the Varquero (interesting and tasting spin on a Margarita!): Don't Telli (smooth spin on an Espresso Martini): and a Bournon Old Fashion. All were so good and very smooth!

I loved the atmosphere of this place. Modern looking, clean. The service was great, our server checked on us several times. The pizza was delicious! The affogato was amazing! I'll be back!

FIVE STARS IS FOR THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE NOT THE FOOD…read more My friend and I had a good time at the lre- opening night of The Bungalow Kitchen. My friend is a chef, so I really wanted her to experience the new menu with me. First, I have to give credit where credit is due. the customer service was top tier! We were greeted as soon as we walked up, and all of the ladies were so welcoming and nice. The bartenders were super nice as well, as was the GM. And of course, the aesthetic of The Bungalow never fails. The space is beautiful and definitely still has that Bungalow vibe. Our waiter, Devin, was great too! Now, on to the food... sadly, we were pretty underwhelmed. I hate that I have to agree with some of the Instagram comments I had seen about the kitchen because I really expected better, especially with all the hype surrounding Chef Eric and the new menu. One thing that really irked me was that our order of broccolini came out before everything else and sat there for about 20 minutes before our entrees arrived. Our waiter was kind enough to send out another order of broccolini once our entrees came, which I appreciated. They initially added it to the bill, but removed it once I mentioned it. The lasagna honestly tasted like something I could pick up already made from Whole Foods. The pork chop was cooked well, but it lacked flavor. The artichoke dish... I don't even really know what to say. The presentation wasn't great, and we kept pulling pieces of the shell out of our mouths, which was annoying. We had a couple of bites and just did away with it. The mussels were good, but there weren't very many. Mussels are pretty inexpensive, so it would have been nice to have a bit more, especially since they are small. The sauce had good flavor, and we ordered the baguette to dip into it, but it wasn't really a sauce in the traditional sense because it was pretty thin. I think it could have had more substance, especially considering they encourage you to spend $12 on a baguette to dip into it. One other thing I noticed was that Chef Eric was visiting some of the tables around us but never came over to ours. Maybe those were family and friends, so who knows, but considering there were barely any people in the restaurant, I do think it would have been nice for him to make his way around to all of the tables, especially on opening night. I will definitely be back to The Bungalow because I love the space, the people and the drinks. I'm just not sure if I'll be back for dinner. I'm willing to try some of the less expensive items and see how those are. Our dinner bill was around $250, in addition to the $40 we spent at the bar before sitting down. Unfortunately, for us, the food just wasn't worth the bill. Overall, we had a great experience with the staff and the atmosphere, but the food didn't live up to the expectations I had going in. Hopefully, some of these things improve because I really do want to see the kitchen succeed.

They reminded us why we missed this concept from them so much all these years, welcome back! From the host team when we arrived to our waiter Tiffany (who was amazing), the crew here was warm and welcoming. We were at their soft opening so we expected things to be a little rough, but there were moments we actually forgot they weren't "fully opened" yet because it was pretty dialed in already. Minor things are still being worked out but honestly, they were hardly noticeable. Now, let's get down to what I'm sure you're waiting for... the food and the drinks. Without burying the lead, Chef Eric Samaniego and his team did their thing. For a starter we had the Hamachi Crudo which was un-friggin-believable. No joke, it was seriously legit. One of the best presentations of this dish I've had so far... for reals. My wife gave it a 10, I gave it an 11 (yes, I loved it that much). For our mains, we shared the Steak Frites and the Lobster Cavatelli. Tiffany also recommended we try a side of the Broccolini, and we are so glad we did because it was so delicious - 10/10. The Steak Frites were very good. The steak was prepared just right and the frites were seasoned nicely with the beef tallow. We gave it a 9 /10. The Cavatelli was solid, but it was probably the biggest opportunity of the bunch. I enjoyed it but wish I could taste more of some of the other flavors, the tomatoes seemed to overpower it some. We gave it a 7/10. In addition to the dishes, I also enjoyed a Roku gin gimlet which was totally on point. They have a full bar and talented mixologists so you can pretty much get what you want though. Finally, the recognizable vibe that we've come to love at the Bungalow remains. They've added nice new furniture and other touches that give it a comfortable, upscale, yet welcoming vibe. All-in-all, we are excited for what the Bungalow Kitchen has in store and look forward to coming back soon!

After a while, she informed us that the crispy rice we ordered was sold out. She mentioned that the bartender was supposed to let us know, but he never did. What made the experience more uncomfortable was that the bartender seemed to be giving most of his attention to the Caucasian customers on the other side of the bar. We were the only Asian customers there, and unfortunately, this left us feeling like we were being treated differently because of our race. The good food and drinks helped compensate for the poor service, so we decided not to let it ruin our evening. However, things got even more disappointing at the end. After I paid, I noticed that I had been charged for the crispy rice even though we never received it. When our server tried to address the issue, the bartender appeared to ignore both her and us, so we eventually left. I hope management sees this review and reaches out to me to address the overcharge and the overall experience. Overall, although the food and drinks were good, the service and the way we were treated left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

They will then ultimately block you - presumably because too many people liked your comment. You guys, that's embarrassing. You need to do better. My comment was completely respectful and an honest concern for how I was treated the one time I ventured in with a friend. Deleting feedback you don't like, customer concerns, and then further blocking those people (I hadn't written anything else. I only noticed because I clicked on the notification that someone liked my comment and saw I was now blocked) makes you look shady and guilty. I'm not a bot, and I explained a very real, possibly discriminatory experience at your bar. If anyone reading would like to know the experience: It was October 21, 2024. A Monday. I should've written this review then but I didn't have anything nice to say, and didn't want to trash this place when it seemed they were struggling due to what the bartender said. I was going through a really tough time, having just canceled my wedding about a month earlier. It was my first outing after a month+ of deep depression. My friend came to rescue me and take me out. I had been meaning to try this place since moving to Long Beach. It was fairly early in the evening, probably around 8pm or so and it was pretty slow. There was music and two couples dancing. We grabbed a table and I went to the bar to get us drinks. As I stood at the bar, some guys had come up alongside me to wait as well. The bartender looked over me and promptly took their orders. I barely had any emotion left in me at the time so I didn't care, and just waited to be next. However, I waited. And waited. And waited. The bartender seemed to be intentionally ignoring me (now the only person standing at the bar). I watched him busy himself with other drinks for the tables, for the guys, and continue to ignore me. Time ticked by and I started to wonder if I was doing something wrong. My friend kept looking over at me from the table like what is taking so long? Minutes and minutes passed as I stood there awkwardly, being blatantly ignored. After a long stretch of time, the bartender quickly said something in my direction like, "If you want to order you're going to have to go to the other end of the bar." I said, "Oh ok thank you." And walked to the other end of the bar. From this point, I was ignored and talked about (full male bar staff) without being looked at. They rudely discussed in front of me how I was standing there, and how each one of them wasn't going to take my order. It had been over a half hour at this point, and I was the only one who had been standing at the bar. It was a slow Monday night. Because I was a broken hearted loser at the time, I started to tear up. Why was I being treated like this? Am I not someone they want in their bar? Is this place not queer or woman friendly?? Why is every other person getting served, while I am blatantly dismissed? After almost 40 minutes, the bartender on that end told me he wasn't going to take my order, and I'd have to go back to the other side again. I quietly walked back over to the other side, feeling so embarrassed and just wanting to leave. It was ridiculously clear I wasn't welcome here, though I had no idea why. I remained standing there for maybe another 10 minutes. The original guy finally relented and begrudgingly took my drink order. He was standoffish at first, until he realized I wasn't upset about any of it. He started to apologize, saying he was brand new, and told me some of the staffing issues they had had that night. He seemed stressed. He recognized he had served the guys before me, and I had been ignored for way too long. He apologized again, and poured us an extra shot in our drinks to make up for the poor treatment. The drinks honestly were terrible lol, but I can only complain about so much. Plus he gave us double the alcohol, so I guess I was grateful. We left immediately after and went somewhere else. I haven't been back since. I wish I could share screenshots of my TikTok comment with the owner's dismissive reply, so you could see for yourselves whether you think that deserved being blocked. She even liked one of my reels from my page? Very odd. People are going to share the truth about their experiences at your establishment, and for you to deny that and block them is wild. You could've responded in a very different way, but you chose to be defensive and shady. That's on you.

So this is a review that's been a *long* time coming (I've just been chronically overwhelmed for an…read moreequally long time.) I haven't been here often, but I *was* here right around when they opened, wherein I determined that the food ranged from quality but a bit overpriced, to just overpriced, a feeling I would still hold, generally speaking. Great vibe, solid service, but maybe a little pretentiously priced (and/or it's just stupid expensive to run a restaurant in this area, granted.) And with *super* pretentiously-priced cocktails, for how relatively simple they mostly are (if I'm gonna spend $18+ plus tip on a drink, I expect Baby Gee-level cocktails.) They also had an impressive wall of craft beer on tap, but also a bit pricey, especially compared to places not on 2nd street, so there was never a particular *draw*. But then I never actually finished reviewing it, because I'm super behind. Anyway, then also not particularly recently, they launched a happy hour, which at the time, especially for this particular part of Long Beach, was pretty stupidly good, with $5 decent sized smashburgers (6 with cheese, 10 with cheese and also fries), as well as $5 craft beer, pretty much all of them, including the fancy, exciting stuff (exciting if you're a nerd like me, the barrel aged stuff, for instance). They also had one specific half hour at the time, which I'd like to immortalize as a super fun idea, where one specific cheap but craft beer was some stupid price, I think like a dollar, but since they had a whole wall of rotating craft beer, a *different* specific cheap craft beer any given day. That's not relevant at all to my current review, but it was fun. Anyway, I still didn't write a review like a year ago when I took advantage of that happy hour, though I did take advantage of it a solid couple of times. Skip forward again to just a few weeks ago, I happened to be attending an event in the general area again, an event that was going to involve more alcohol than food and for which having a happy-hour-timed dinner in the area was going to be useful, so I figured I'd check out whether the happy hour was still there, and it was. At least as of a few weeks ago, the happy hour (3-6 weekdays) was still a thing, and it had gone up a whopping 55 cents per item. Ends up being effectively ~$17 plus tip for a quality smashburger, quality fries and a craft beer, though they didn't have as *many* of the fancy (barrel-aged or equivalent) stuff as they had the first time, they did still have some, and it was still $5.55 for any beer on draft they had. So happy hour wise, that's a pretty good price for this part of the country, I'd say. Obviously only since the burgers and fries *are* also absolutely quality burgers and fries. Not quite as wonderful as my gold standard smashburger at The Stache, perhaps, but still a great smashburger. My opinion on spending almost 20 bucks for what is effectively still just an old fashioned, hasn't changed, though. :p
