I love Mariscos Güero, but sometimes it gets busy, and I understand, given the good food, service, and ambience.

Many many moons ago, my hubby and I used to come here to grab some mariscos. My friend lives not too far from this now, so we decided to give it a try again to see if it still hit the way that it did nearly 10 years ago. Our tastebuds I think has evolved or the quality has changed a bit. While we ended up satisfied with the ceviche we ordered, it definitely felt like there were some things missing. We ordered the fish ceviche, pulpo, and the shrimp. Of all, my favorite was the shrimp. My husband also ordered a campechana, which felt lighter than others we've had before. You cannot beat the prices though. The ceviches were less than $3, so I guess if you're looking for bargain ceviche, this would be your spot! read more

So I tried their ceviche and it's 3/10 too much tomato so it over takes all the other flavors. Doesn't have a lot of fish. The cocktail is a 5/10 ir gives off frozen shrimp flavor. Fish taco plate today and it's a 2/10 there is no flavor in the batter used, the sauce is only sour cream with a hint of tapatio... the chips and salsa is a 1/10 it's not salsa it's diced tomatoes only not even onion in it. My friend Caroline M. Comes here often with her boyfriend so on one of their outings I tagged along as the third wheel. Roomy and spacious mom and pop shop with older decor. Depending on the time of day you come in you can have your choice of any seat or have to wait 20 minutes or so. There's a jukebox in front that often blares loud music and depending on your mood it can add to the experience or take sways from it. I didn't mind it too much but on this specific day I had lost my voice and had to strain in order to talk and be heard. Got the CRAB AND SHRIMP TOSTADAs, FISH TACOs, and SHRIMP TACOs. -CRAB and SHRIMP TOSTADAS- pretty tasty. Mixture of imitation crab and shrimp ceviche style with lemon, avocado, onions, tomato, and cilantro. 4 stars** -FISH TACO - fish is fried and quite bland. Even the sauces that came on the side to dress the tacos in were a bit bland. 3 stars*** -SHRIMP TACO- fried shrimp and is bland. Nothing wowed me and I would probably pass on it if I were to come back. Service is pretty basic, ask and you shall receive items that you need. Parking lot is pretty small compared to all the stores it has to share. For the most part I dont have a major issue and tend to find parking quickly. Over all food is ok. I've been here plenty of times but almost always get take out. From the beginning, I did my research and heard about the questionable service. I finally came here and dined in. We didn't have any problems with service while dining in. So, while I would still take caution, I would also note that it's probably not as bad as its made out to be. FOOD: Tostada (Shrimp) - I like this one a lot. you get good sized and fresh shrimp. This costs more than the Shrimp/Crab or Ceviche tostadas but you get more as well. Tostada (Shrimp and Crab) - The shrimp you get in this are smaller than the shrimp you get in the Shrimp Tostada. The crab is also imitation. Still, there is pretty good value in this. Tostada (Ceviche) - This tostada is just fish. It tastes pretty good and doesn't cost much. I live around the corner from this place and had never tried it. Usually I crave seafood during the week but I don't get home till 7pm and that's when they close :( had the day off and ordered the fish taco combination over the phone. Anyways I went to pick up my food and the lady who got my drink was super helpful and sweet. Anyways my food was pretty bomb. For $5.95 I got an horchata, 3 fish tacos with rice and beans. How did I not know about this place? I went to the Mexican place that was here a decade or so ago. It was a place that had Mexican food to go. Was in the mood for Mexican but didn't want to drive. I remembered this place. I walk in and see I'm the only non-Mexican in the place. That's a wonderful sign that the food is good and authentic. I looked at the menu and saw that they had combinations of 3 tacos, rice and beans plus a canned soda. Yum. So I chose a bit of a combo: 2 shrimp tacos and 1 fish. Good salsa. Not made in-house but chunky and flavorful. Chips freshly made. She brought out my order and saw that the tacos were wrapped in foil. My first thought was that they were street tacos. They were full size very yummy tacos. Fully stuffed with meat. Fresh and yummy. They provide a hotter salsa and spicy chipotle sauce to use on the tacos. They were delicious. The rice was awesomely fluffy. The beans were some of the best I've ever had. The cost for all this yumminess? $7.55. With tax and tip, I paid $10. They must have a good happy hour because a lot of people were drinking beer. I was there about 4 so I assume it was happy hour crowd. I'm going back often. 3 stars isn't exactly a bad thing. Any who My cohortmates recommended this place after a Saturday class. About 10-15 minutes away from LBSU we finally arrive and so we feast! Ambiance Parking | Pretty small but not an issue, this plaza isn't usually poppin so you shouldn't have a problem. Seating | It all depends on the time of the day. It's all inside seating and moreover for big groups, it can fit about 50. Feels | A very cultural and festive place decorated from the arts and the food. It's a very hustle and bustle place. If you want to change the tone up a bit, there's a jukebox up in the front. Though there is a tv it was off so I assume it plays during important games. Food: Filete de pescado a la plancha y camorones (Highly Recommend) Basically a filet with garlic shrimp on top. Yum yum yum! So much flavor, I wish they added a bit more rice to compliment the rice. Not recommended if you're tryna be healthy. Customer Service: Now here is the kicker. Though our orders came at a fairly reasonable time. What turned me off was how they basically cleaned the tabled in front of us without asking. They took our condiments and our unused tortillas without even realizing it. Giving them a free cookie...and then taking it back. What a tease. Overall: 3.5 stars. The food was extremely delicious and fulfilling, pricey but understandable. However my major knock is the customer service. Though they do have pretty good food, I don't mind exploring another place. Maybe next time I'll just order to go and ask for extra condiments. Environment was extremely hot and my daughter began to overheat and had to take her to the car. No airflow or AC just some measly ceiling fans. Our server was the female with red hair. I placed my order of chicken flautas combo with a coke. Server brought my "order" to the table and argued with my family saying I ordered tacos. I came back in the restaurant and server approached me. I saw my order was wrong and I told her I clearly remember ordering flautas. She had a nasty attitude and tried arguing with me saying I ordered tacos. Sent the food back and canceled my order. No point in spending money here with such awful customer service. This is place is one I would consider a hole-in-the-wall or a place you find out by word of mouth. It has a cute home-like feeling to it, like if you were going to an aunts or grandmas house for a quick meal. I believe it's a family owned business, and the servers definitely make you feel like you're a part of the family. My dad likes to take us there because they're prices are unbeatable. My mom likes that they have a variety of things to eat, from shrimp tacos, to fried fish, ceviche tostadas, shrimp cocktail and even fresh oysters. My family has a tradition of going here for lunch after church on Sundays, and it seems like other customers have the same tradition with their families. There have been times when they are so busy and unexpectedly short staff but I can see that the customers are understanding and patient. My dad won't admit to it, but I know this is one of his preferred places because the servers already "know him" and recognize him and his family. read more

The ceviche tostadas taste really fresh, and at $1.75 each that price can't be beat with the amount of meat Mariscos gives you. I will definitely be back for more and with others. This place is right around the corner of my house and let me tell you..this..place..is..the..ish! Ceviche tostadas all day everyday. Their rice and beans taste like they made it from home and the chips and salsa are addicting. Small place but so worth it. I would take this over some high end, big, nice looking place anyday. Management needs to train employees better and show them how important people are to the establishment. Will never go back although food is good.
